feat(live): deliver recoverable transcripts to interested views (#17456)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip should show live agent output without repeating presentation work for every view. > - Execution, acknowledgements and durable checkpoints must remain independent of browser interest. > - The server already owns authorization and redaction at delivery. > - A shared browser connection can declare which visible runs need full transcripts. > - Catch-up must handle subscription races, disconnects, terminal output and slow consumers. > - This PR delivers the backend and UI contract together without a database migration. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What existing behavior does this improve?** Visible transcript consumers receive recoverable output through one shared browser connection. **Current behavior** Independent views can create duplicate connections, presentation work and recurring history reads. A subscription race or filtered native history can lose the saved tail. **Proposed behavior** Negotiate run interests, subscribe before catch-up and retain independent canonical recovery cursors. Keep lightweight lifecycle and attention events available without full transcript delivery. PR 4 of #17097 → #17439 → #17455 → #17456. The runtime feature is independent of hot-upgrade recovery; the stack order is for review convenience. ## What Changed - Add additive WebSocket capability negotiation, replacement interests, revision acknowledgement and resynchronization notices. - Reference-count visible consumer interests on one company-scoped browser connection. Preserve older-client/server behavior. - Reuse canonical structural/current-user/registered-secret redaction for plugin run notifications through the same bounded delivery queue. Keep producer and uninterested streams free of recipient lookups. - Refresh application queries after the matching recovery acknowledgement, including one follow-up after an older in-flight read. Ordinary interest acknowledgements add no refresh. - Keep authorization and redaction at delivery. Browser interest cannot change harness execution, PRP ACKs, checkpoints, accounting or canonical logs. - Deduplicate by sequence and log identity. Catch up terminal output and saved tails without recurring reads during healthy negotiated streaming. - Bound delivery to 1,000 items and 1 MiB. Overflow requires resynchronization; persistent congestion closes the connection. - Preserve compact-history expansion from current master across paginated catch-up. Snapshot the original read window before React can defer its update. ## Verification On current source `f6710f0b3c`, Linux [job 122604880503](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/40624101891/job/122604880503) executes all five run-read permission cases successfully (2.574 seconds), including grant and revocation on the same connection. Its shard passes all 2,430 cases. Current [server-shard job 122604880416](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/40624101891/job/122604880416) has 1,513 passes, one failure and three skips: an unchanged nested-clone expiration/restore test exceeds its 15-second deadline. The preceding `5efc6c48bf` source has identical non-document bytes; [its corresponding job 122601359272](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/40623017917/job/122601359272) passes all 21 nested-clone cases, including that case in 9.505 seconds. The exact timing cause is unproven. The single diagnostic [retry job 122609332597](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/40624101891/job/122609332597) passes all 21 nested-clone cases (61.316 seconds), including the formerly timed-out case in 7.003 seconds, and all 1,514 shard cases (three skips). The failure remains recorded; no timeout or assertion was changed. After the server squash merge and qualification retarget, all 50 focused server cases and all 91 focused UI cases pass again, with both typechecks and token gates. Runner vendor preparation rebuilds current master inputs before those tests. This source needs fresh CI and reviews; prior CI and browser receipts do not qualify it by inference. Current candidate `f6710f0b3c` now targets master `6987c2f20b`, after merged #17097, #17439 and #17455. Its diff contains only transcript delivery and its documentation. It adds no database migration. Retargeting changes only the evidence document; all production and test code is byte-identical to `5efc6c48bf`. On the eighth integration, all 50 focused server delivery cases and all 91 focused UI cases pass, with both typechecks and token gates. The following 35-case receipt belongs to the earlier delivery correction. Four low-queue authorization/decoration stall variants and the late-rejection case fail before correction. They now verify the five-second read deadline, old and negotiated clients, revisions that cannot reset the deadline, unaffected sibling connections, rejected late results, and timer cleanup. The first combined toast run has four loopback EPERM failures and 31 passes; its permitted repeat passes all 35. Earlier 28-case evidence excluded the toast file. The permission correction requires the current HTTP company-scope transcript permission, plus task access, for both native events and legacy logs. Prior Linux source `49a8783e9b`, job 122549913643, executes all five run-read cases, including grant/revocation on the same connection, successfully. That source placed this file in server shard 11; later shard assignments can differ and must be checked against their actual inventories. The older `405bedd189` receipt retains a separate scheduled-retry teardown race and inherited fixture collision; neither is waived. The new head must pass again in Linux CI. The seven extracted stream-recovery tests preserve their assertions. All 39 related legacy/native cases, UI typecheck and token gates pass after restoring the initially missed fixture helper. Earlier full workspace build/typecheck and Chrome journeys at `445a76563c` cover two views, company switches, reconnect, terminal catch-up, reload and zero recurring healthy transcript reads. Those browser receipts are historical source evidence and do not qualify this new head by inference. The [qualification record](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/blob/f6710f0b3c84c6fdb2021df67206261b446dfc97/doc/plans/2026-10-22-hot-upgrade-qualification.md) retains exact earlier UI/history, source-boundary and cleanup failures with their fixes and limits. The workload-cost test preserves bounds and authorization callback counts for zero interests, one viewer, multiple browsers and a slow viewer. Its socket congestion is simulated. It measures neither SQL nor network costs. Current permission checks and the final hosted active-agent/viewer matrix remain unmeasured; no production savings are claimed. Fresh exact-head CI, legacy status, completed Greptile 5/5, resolved feedback and ordinary merge eligibility remain required. The earlier recipient corrections pass all 47 registry/plugin/delivery/WebSocket/toast cases and all 174 UI provider/recovery/interest cases, both typechecks and token gates on source `b202e59a25`. A real bus/host-service test registers a synthetic run secret through the production registry and reproduces its raw notification before the fix; native/legacy/final notifications now redact it, disposal prevents late worker notification. A later P1 review reproduces lost final notifications on settings-read and secret-resolution failure. Both cases fail before correction. Any delivery failure or subscription timeout now sends one content-free stream error and removes the plugin subscription. It never changes the agent execution or run status. Later events start no new redaction reads. The final integrated six-file server lane passes all 50 cases, with server typecheck and token gates. Existing browser delivery behavior is unchanged. Storage and secret-provider seams are scripted. Two real React Query/provider regressions first miss a run during resync; both now refresh after the valid replacement ACK, including pending-read and stale-scope cases. The prerequisite qualification batch passes all 118 cases and E2E typecheck after master integration. Fresh CI, security scan and reviews remain pending on this head. The contribution-rule review correction removes 104 explanatory comments introduced by this slice and keeps the ordering, deadline and plugin-delivery explanations in the delivery document. Existing comments and functional test/lint directives remain. All edited source files have identical parsed non-comment tokens before and after the change. All 50 server delivery cases and all 91 cases in six affected UI suites pass, along with token gates. The new head requires fresh CI, security and review. ## Risks A slow or disconnected viewer must resynchronize from authorized canonical history. It may see a display gap until catch-up completes. Company changes and revoked access must remove delivery interests. This slice adds no database migration and cannot change execution or recovery authority. Full transcript delivery evaluates current company-scope permission per delivery. Active plugin recipients also perform canonical redaction reads; viewer-load database costs on this final source remain unmeasured. ## Model Used OpenAI GPT-6 through Codex, with reasoning, repository tools and code execution. fix: show each task once in dashboard agent cards (#14847)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip helps people manage AI agents and their tasks. > - The dashboard shows recent agent activity in compact cards. > - Those cards use run records, so two runs for one task can create duplicate task cards. > - An operator needs to see each task once when scanning the dashboard. > - This pull request selects one run per linked task before it applies the card limit. > - The live runs page still shows each run for run inspection. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What happened?** The dashboard showed the same task in two agent cards when that task had both an active run and a completed run. **Expected behavior** The dashboard should show a linked task at most once. It should keep the active run card when one is present. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Start an agent run for a task that already has a completed run. 2. Open the company dashboard. 3. Observe two cards linked to the same task. **Paperclip version or commit** Reproduced on the pre-change master at `8b4aa0692`. **Deployment mode** Local dev, built from source. The bug is in the core dashboard UI and does not depend on an agent adapter or database mode. ## What Changed - Select distinct linked tasks from capped active and recent run samples before applying the dashboard card limit. - Keep separate cards for runs without a linked task. - Preserve the dashboard's count of additional distinct cards behind the live-runs link. - Add UI and embedded Postgres regression tests for duplicate runs and document the dashboard rule. - Give the existing multi-request cross-tenant authorization test enough time on loaded CI runners. ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui exec vitest run src/components/ActiveAgentsPanel.test.tsx` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui exec vitest run src/api/heartbeats.test.ts` - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/dashboard-service.test.ts server/src/__tests__/agent-live-run-routes.test.ts` - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/agent-cross-tenant-authz-routes.test.ts` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` - `pnpm -r typecheck` - `pnpm build` - `pnpm check:token-gates` - Review the dashboard with an active and a completed run on the same task. Confirm that it shows one card. Open Live agent runs to inspect both run records. ## Risks - A very high volume of recent runs for one task can fill the capped sample and leave older tasks off the dashboard. The Live runs page remains available for full run inspection. - The dashboard may fetch up to 50 distinct run representatives to preserve its overflow count. The default run API response and persisted data are unchanged. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex, GPT-6. The runtime does not expose the exact model ID or context window size to this task. The model used reasoning, tool calls, and code execution. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes: #` / `Closes #` / `Refs #` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal/instance-local Paperclip issues or links (only public GitHub `#NNN` / `github.com/paperclipai/paperclip` URLs) - [x] My branch name describes the change (e.g. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

feat(ui): integrate agent personas across the app (#13171)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - A stable agent persona is useful only when the same identity appears across the app. > - Lists, task messages, selectors, and activity feeds need inexpensive static avatars. > - Onboarding and agent headers need a larger character with expressions and pointer tracking. > - This pull request connects the persona foundation to those existing views and preserves onboarding draft assignments. > - Full-page stories and Linux checks make the placements and performance contract reviewable. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **Problem or motivation** Agents need a stable visual identity in lists, tasks, onboarding, and configuration. External tools also need an image URL for that identity. **Proposed solution** Assign each agent a permanent palette from a fixed ClipLab character library. Store the assignment on the agent. Render and cache preset PNG URLs on demand. Use static images in dense views and one animated character in larger placements. **Alternatives considered** A generated image bundle requires a separate asset build. A live renderer in every avatar adds unnecessary work in large lists. Arbitrary uploaded images do not provide the requested shared character system. **Roadmap alignment** This improves agent identity across existing control-plane views. It preserves agent permissions, company boundaries, and status labels. ROADMAP.md has no separate ClipLab persona milestone. Related approaches: #2422 adds configurable image URLs and DiceBear generation; #5578 adds optional uploaded avatars. This work uses a fixed, versioned character library and preset URLs. ## What Changed - Replace agent icons with static persona images across lists, the sidebar, org charts, tasks, comments, selectors, activity, and dashboard views. - Put one animated character in the agent header. Let it follow the pointer across the page, with reduced-motion and touch fallbacks. - Add larger padded characters to agent creation. Keep the palette stable across draft refreshes and connection retries, then reveal it after success. - Pass appearance through shared projections rather than fetching each agent separately. - Add real full-page Storybook examples for the agent list, overview, task, dashboard, new-agent dialog, and connection page. - Add Linux screenshot, clipping, density, and 500-avatar performance checks. ## Verification - `pnpm -r typecheck`, `pnpm build`, and token gates pass on the rebased tree. Persona lifecycle tests pass. - The rebased feature passes 38 Linux screenshot/performance checks, including both display densities, corner pointer positions, and the no-WebGL/no-live-download contract for 500 avatars. - The final Linux persona suite passes all 38 visual, lifecycle, density, and full-page checks using the standard Storybook configuration and real on-demand avatar endpoint. - Final local focused verification: 45 avatar/native-recovery tests pass; UI identity/routine tests, typecheck/build, token gates, and Storybook build pass. - Current-head CI passes: full workspace/server tests, all serialized server groups, typecheck/release checks, build, canary validation, and end-to-end shards. The build passed after retrying a native-runner concurrency-test failure; its three targeted cases also pass locally. - Manual inspection covered stable identities in the app, header placement, full-page mouse tracking, onboarding size, and task/dashboard placements. ### Screenshots Linux captures use synthetic Storybook fixtures. Full-page captures use reduced motion. The live character, mouse tracking, and disposal are checked separately. <details> <summary>Agent overview with the character in its header</summary> <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/paperclipai/paperclip/8c68f42b268ada22b67d79d0fe1bb0a2f84ec25c/screenshots/full-page-agent-overview.png" width="900" alt="Agent overview with the character in its header" /> </details> <details> <summary>Task messages and assignee identity</summary> <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/paperclipai/paperclip/8c68f42b268ada22b67d79d0fe1bb0a2f84ec25c/screenshots/full-page-task.png" width="900" alt="Task messages and assignee identity" /> </details> <details> <summary>Larger onboarding character with room for expressions</summary> <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/paperclipai/paperclip/8c68f42b268ada22b67d79d0fe1bb0a2f84ec25c/screenshots/full-page-meet-your-next-agent.png" width="900" alt="Larger onboarding character with room for expressions" /> </details> <details> <summary>Dashboard agent activity</summary> <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/paperclipai/paperclip/8c68f42b268ada22b67d79d0fe1bb0a2f84ec25c/screenshots/full-page-company-dashboard.png" width="900" alt="Dashboard agent activity" /> </details> ## Risks - This PR depends on #13170, the persona foundation. Merge the foundation first, then retarget this PR to master. - Many placements change from icons to character silhouettes. Human avatars and authoritative agent status labels retain their existing behavior. - Only one character can render live per view. Reduced motion, hidden/offscreen content, touch input, and renderer failures use the defined fallbacks. - The full-page stories use fixture data. They do not contact a real company or complete real provider sign-in. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-6 family. The exact model identifier and context window are not exposed in this session. Used code editing, shell execution, browser inspection, and Linux visual testing. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> Co-authored-by: Tonio <tonework@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(ui): refine dashboard cards, charts, and recent lists (#13269)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Operators use the dashboard and Live runs page to inspect current and recent runs. > - Large transcript cards take space and make it hard to compare run states. > - A compact card must show the agent, linked task, and time, with access to run details. > - This pull request applies the supplied card design to both views. > - Operators can scan more runs and open a run or task for details. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What existing behavior does this improve?** The agent run cards on the dashboard and Live runs page, plus dashboard charts and recent lists. **Subsystem affected** `ui/` — React board UI. **Current behavior** Both views show large cards with embedded transcripts. Queued and running cards share a live treatment. The dashboard chart grid leaves an empty column, recent lists use different row sizes, and some activity labels expose raw event names. **Proposed behavior** Both views use the same compact grid. Each card shows the existing initials avatar, the agent name, one linked task row, and a right-aligned timestamp. There is no status chip next to the agent name. The timestamp uses small Inter text and the same muted gray as dashboard metric descriptions. Recovery details remain in the task view. Run status remains in the header tooltip and accessible label, and run transcripts remain in the run detail view. The shared in-progress task icon is now an animated circular spinner across the app. **Reason and benefit** Operators can scan task states without scrolling through embedded output. The in-progress spinner keeps the shared task icon sizes, circular shape, and stroke width. It honors reduced-motion preferences. **Breaking changes** The dashboard and Live runs page no longer show transcripts inside cards. Open the agent header to inspect a run. There are no API or database changes. **Additional context** Related public work found during the duplicate search: - Refs #4317 — related run-state display concerns. This change does not change server state reconciliation. - Refs #11394 — related live-run cache updates. This change retains the existing data flow. - Refs #2118 — related navigation from agent cards. The card header here opens the specific run. ## What Changed - Apply compact cards to the dashboard and Live runs page, with status icons and theme tokens. - Use 16 × 16px status icons in the shared cards, including the missing-task clock. - Keep the existing circular initials avatar. Remove the status chip beside the agent name while preserving the run label for tooltips and accessibility. - Replace the shared in-progress task glyph with an animated open circle. Use the same 10-unit radius and 2-unit stroke as the other task glyphs, with a reduced-motion guard across all task status surfaces. This is the requested workflow-status indicator across the app, including between runs; live indicators separately report active execution. - Use the same Tailwind blue tokens as nav dots and Live labels for the progress icon: blue-400 in dark mode and blue-600 in light mode. Covered-blocked icons follow the same blue token. - Match the Tasks by Status chart's In Progress bar and legend to the spinner's theme-aware color token. - Distribute the three visible dashboard charts across equal-width desktop columns, preserving existing gaps, card padding, and page margins. Retain four columns when the optional priority chart is enabled. - Use the done task icon's `--status-task-icon-done` token for green bars in Run Activity, Tasks by Status, and Success Rate, including their legends. - Use the blocked task icon's `--status-task-icon-blocked` token for red bars and legends in Run Activity, Tasks by Status, Success Rate, and priority charts. - Align Recent Tasks live counts to the sidebar's right edge. Reveal the ellipsis over a fading row surface on hover, keyboard focus, and while its menu is open, without moving the label or count. - Keep the ellipsis backdrop synchronized with the row background during fade-out, using the actual sidebar surface in both themes to prevent a darker flash. - On coarse-pointer devices, reserve space for the always-visible ellipsis and disable its fade so the live count remains readable beside it. - Order desktop dashboard Recent Tasks as status icon, task title, agent avatar/name, 11px monospace task ID, then timestamp. In narrow cards, keep the ID right-aligned beside the truncated title and place the agent and timestamp on the second line. - Give both dashboard lists the same 48px desktop rows, 24px leading slots, 80px desktop task ID columns, and 64px right-aligned timestamp columns. Use an 8px icon-to-content gap matching the task detail heading. Narrow layouts use matching 76px rows with intrinsic-width IDs on the title line; activity timestamps stay below. - Order dashboard Recent Activity as actor avatar, actor name, verb, task title, 11px monospace task ID, then timestamp. Use direct verbs such as “Board read …” instead of “issue read marked”. Truncate titles to preserve IDs and timestamps; keep full names and titles in tooltips. - Use 12px task status icons in the top breadcrumb and Properties status row. Keep the main task title icon at 20px. - Reduce monospace task IDs to the 11px micro type token in breadcrumbs and shared run cards, aligning them to the adjacent task titles' text baseline while keeping status icons centered. - Show the task title and identifier in one bordered row. Keep missing-task links usable and show lookup failures. - Remove the recovery chip and place the timestamp below the task row. - Keep the link to all runs available when the dashboard has four or fewer runs. - Avoid transcript polling for compact cards. - Fix bundled Inter font URLs and update the design guide and Storybook fixtures. - Cover run navigation, task status, failed lookups, shared icon sizes and stroke, and reduced-motion-safe animation in tests. ## Verification - Latest review fixes: targeted SidebarRecentTasks, SidebarNavItem, StatusGlyph, StatusIcon, ActiveAgentsPanel, activity-format, ui-font-assets, and Dashboard suites — 65 tests pass, including read/unread verbs and reduced-motion-safe task animation. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` — passes. - `pnpm check:token-gates` — all gates pass. - `git diff --check` — passes. - Related component suites passed during development: run cards, status glyphs, breadcrumbs, issue properties, charts, sidebar navigation, recent-task actions, and settings sidebar. - Full repository `pnpm -r typecheck` and `pnpm build` pass on the final commit using the temporary Rust toolchain. Storybook build passed earlier in preparation. - All CI gates pass on `c85e949b12b471d425d216caa609aee41dc58bde`: all general/workspace and serialized server test shards, all three browser shards, build/runner verification, typecheck/release registry, canary dry run, policy, and security checks. The duplicate local `pnpm test:run` was stopped after CI completed the same test suites; it is not claimed as a completed local pass. The two Storybook jobs are skipped by the configured draft-PR workflow. - Greptile reviewed the final commit at 5/5 with no actionable findings and zero unresolved review threads. - Browser measurements at 1654px, 860px, and 390px confirm matching 48px desktop and 76px narrow rows (plus 1px dividers), right-aligned IDs on the title line, 64px timestamp slots, and no horizontal overflow. Narrow Recent Tasks rows retain readable agent names below the title. Activity reads as actor, verb, title, ID, time. Additional reference details can expand an activity row. - Verified three equal-width desktop charts with 16px gaps and aligned outer edges. Chart blues, greens, and reds resolve to the matching task-icon tokens. - Verified real queued, running, succeeded, failed, cancelled, and timed-out runs in the dev dashboard. Checked compact cards, task/run links, timestamps, light/dark themes, and narrow layout. - To inspect: open Dashboard, then Live runs. Both pages use the same small cards. Open an agent header for run output, or the task row for task details. - Verified the updated spinner on the real dashboard cards, Recent tasks, and task list. Checked actual SVG circle radius, rendered size, and stroke width. Confirmed the spinner, nav dots, and Live labels resolve to the identical blue-400 color in the dark-mode preview; light mode uses their shared blue-600 token. - Verified 12px computed width and height in the task breadcrumb and Properties pane, the restored 20px main task icon, and 11px task IDs with baseline alignment in the breadcrumb and shared dashboard/Live runs cards. - Verified the chart bar and legend resolve to the spinner color; Recent Tasks counts align with Dashboard's count. Checked the fading ellipsis overlay with keyboard focus and its open-menu state, then dismissed the menu. ## Risks - Operators must open run details to read output that was previously embedded. - Run outcomes are available in the header tooltip and run details instead of a visible status chip. An in-progress task icon reflects task status, independently of an individual run's outcome. - Long names and task titles truncate within the compact layout. fix(ui): keep active runner status current and say Working (#13238)
## Thinking Path
> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - The task transcript shows a running agent's progress.
> - The active-run query stops polling when the live-run list has data.
> - The transcript still preferred that initial snapshot, so an old
execution-confirmation state could remain after work resumed.
> - This pull request uses the refreshed snapshot for the same run and
keeps active status text at Working.
> - Operators can see current activity without connection-state jargon.
## Linked Issues or Issue Description
**What happened?**
The task transcript said Reconnecting while the runner continued sending
messages and calling tools. The stale projection could also hide the
Thinking tail or stop the status spinner and timer.
**Expected behavior**
The selected run uses its current live snapshot. Active transcripts say
Working and show current activity. Completed and failed runs say Worked
and Stopped.
**Steps to reproduce**
1. Open a running task before its execution confirmation arrives.
2. Let the active-run query stop polling when the live-run list returns
the run.
3. Let the list refresh to working while the cached active-run snapshot
still says reconnecting.
4. Inspect the transcript status and activity tail.

Fix request storm polling and issue-list coalescing (#9190)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - The board UI keeps issue, agent, activity, and run state fresh through polling across several pages and sidebar surfaces > - When multiple components or browser tabs poll the same company data at the same time, the API can receive bursts of duplicate issue-list requests > - Those duplicate requests increase database and server load without returning meaningfully different data > - This pull request adds server-side compression/coalescing plus client-side visibility-aware and cross-tab shared polling > - The benefit is lower request volume during normal board usage while preserving fresh UI data for active users ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No exact public GitHub issue was found for this request. Problem: - The board can issue redundant polling requests for the same issue-list data from multiple UI surfaces and tabs. - In busy operator sessions, those bursts can trigger request-storm behavior and unnecessary issue-list load. - Expected behavior is to reuse identical in-flight work server-side and reduce hidden-tab or duplicate-tab polling client-side while preserving normal refresh behavior. Related public context found during duplicate search: - #8206 covers a different board UI 404-storm scope. - #5165 covers separate issue-list behavior around page-size truncation. ## What Changed - Added API compression middleware foundation and a company/created-at index for heartbeat run access. - Added server-side issue-list request storm detection and identical in-flight request coalescing. - Added UI fetch metadata, visibility-aware polling, and request deduplication for issue/activity/client calls. - Added cross-tab shared polling primitives and wired them into the sidebar, inbox, dashboard, issue, project, routine, and agent surfaces. - Resolved the latest `master` migration collision by keeping upstream `0140_built_in_managed_resources.sql` and renumbering this branch's heartbeat-run index migration to `0141_heartbeat_runs_company_created_at_index.sql`; the SQL uses `CREATE INDEX IF NOT EXISTS` for idempotency. - Stabilized server heartbeat cleanup tests exposed by the PR check matrix. - Fixed the Greptile compression follow-up by weakening strong ETags on encoded JSON responses and bypassing compression for streamed/download responses. ## Verification - `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/components/IssuesList.test.tsx ui/src/pages/Inbox.test.tsx` — passed after resolving the latest `master` conflict in `IssuesList.tsx` and updating the 200-result cap expectations. - `pnpm check:token-gates` — passed after the UI conflict resolution. - `jq -e '.entries | length as $n | (map(.idx) | unique | length == $n) and (map(.tag) | unique | length == $n)' packages/db/src/migrations/meta/_journal.json` — passed after renumbering the migration to `0141`. - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/api-compression.test.ts` - passed after the compression follow-up. - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/issue-list-assignee-filter-routes.test.ts` - passed after the compression follow-up. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` - passed after the compression follow-up. - Greptile Review for head `8dbddac41ec273fda404100b4981ddb912fad57b` - passed after the latest conflict/migration fix; all Greptile review threads are resolved. - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/api-compression.test.ts server/src/__tests__/issue-list-assignee-filter-routes.test.ts ui/src/api/client.test.ts ui/src/api/issues.test.ts ui/src/lib/polling.test.ts ui/src/lib/cross-tab-poll.test.ts ui/src/pages/Inbox.test.tsx ui/src/components/SidebarProjects.test.tsx ui/src/components/SidebarAccountMenu.test.tsx ui/src/lib/issueDetailCache.test.ts` — passed. - `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/api/client.test.ts` — passed. - `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/pages/Inbox.test.tsx ui/src/components/SidebarProjects.test.tsx ui/src/components/SidebarAccountMenu.test.tsx ui/src/lib/issueDetailCache.test.ts` — passed. - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-worktree-suppression.test.ts` — passed. - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/low-trust-red-team-routes.test.ts` — passed. - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-workspace-finalize-branch.test.ts` — passed. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` — passed. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` — passed. - GitHub PR checks for head `8dbddac41ec273fda404100b4981ddb912fad57b`: all GitHub Actions/status checks passed; Greptile, Superagent, Socket, Snyk, build, typecheck/release registry, general tests, serialized server suites, e2e, canary dry run, policy, and commitperclip review are green; Storybook visual regression and security-review were skipped/neutral by policy. - Confirmed this branch does not include `pnpm-lock.yaml` or `.github/workflows` changes. ## Risks - Medium risk: issue-list coalescing changes request timing and cache semantics for a hot API path. - Medium risk: cross-tab polling uses browser coordination primitives, so older or unusual browser environments need fallback behavior to stay correct. - Low migration risk: the new index migration is ordered after current `master` and uses `CREATE INDEX IF NOT EXISTS`. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex coding agent, GPT-5-based model, tool-enabled with shell/git execution. Exact hosted deployment identifier and context-window size were not surfaced in the agent runtime. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

feat(ui): design-system component convergence — Card/Badge adoption, multiplicative radius ladder, unified list surfaces (#9240)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - Its UI is governed by a design system (`DESIGN.md` + the token layer in `ui/src/index.css`, merged in #9134) whose first principle is "one way to say each thing" — one Card, one Badge, one nav row > - After the token extraction landed, ~35 files still hand-rolled card containers, ~45 files hand-rolled pill spans, the sidebar agents section duplicated the nav-row chrome, and the inbox and tasks lists rendered the same task rows two subtly different ways > - Each divergence is a place where a future design change (radius, hover language, status vocabulary) silently misses surfaces, defeating the "edit tokens + run checks" model the design system exists for > - This pull request converges those surfaces onto the shared primitives, codifies the radius scale as the modern multiplicative shadcn ladder, and unifies the row/hover/tree-guide language across the inbox and tasks lists — every visible delta was human-reviewed screen-by-screen against a live instance across nine feedback rounds > - The benefit is that the app's look is now steerable from single knobs (one `--radius` anchor, one Card, one Badge, one row component), and the visual regression suite covers the result (514 snapshots including a new AgentDetail page story) ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No public GitHub issue exists for this work; describing per the feature template: - **Problem**: after the design-token foundation (#9134), component-level drift remained — hand-rolled cards/pills, duplicated sidebar row chrome, and two different renderings of task rows (inbox vs tasks list) meant design changes had to be applied per-surface and frequently missed spots (e.g. status glyphs rendered 16px in the inbox but 20px in the tasks list because a slot override silently beat the component default). - **Proposed behavior**: all card-shaped containers render via `Card`, all label pills via `Badge`, sidebar rows via `SidebarNavItem`, and both task-list surfaces via one `IssueRow` configuration; the radius scale is a single multiplicative ladder anchored at `--radius: 0.5rem`. - **Alternatives considered**: converting interactive `<button>`/`<Link>` cards to `Card` divs (rejected — breaks semantics; documented inline with `design-allow` comments instead); keeping the legacy additive radius ladder (rejected in favor of the standard shadcn multiplicative mapping). ## What Changed - `Card` adoption across ~35 files (settings pages, auth/board flows, dashboards, list containers, KPI tiles); non-adoptable sites (interactive cards, `<li>` rows, class-string props, chart tooltip) carry documented `design-allow(card-pattern)` comments - `Card` gains an `interactive` prop — one quiet hover affordance for clickable cards (cursor, border darken, shadow lift, focus ring), applied to skills tiles, artifact cards, and the company selector; cards carry no resting shadow - `Badge` adoption for 113 hand-rolled pill spans across ~45 files; `PropertyChip` wraps `Badge` internally; `StatusBadge`, external-object chips, and match chips stay bespoke by documented decision (WCAG-tuned status mechanics) - Radius ladder becomes the multiplicative shadcn mapping (`sm/md/lg/xl/2xl/3xl/4xl = 0.6/0.8/1.0/1.4/1.8/2.2/2.6 × --radius`, anchor `0.5rem`); every card surface unifies on `rounded-lg`; the orphaned 8px literal token is deleted - Sidebar: agent rows render via `SidebarNavItem` (new additive props: `iconNode`, `active`, `trailing`, `liveAccessory`); live dots use `--status-agent-running`; one row rhythm and inset rounded pill highlight; right-aligned trailing badges; every labeled section is collapsible - Inbox + tasks lists unified: md status glyphs, `accent/50` rounded row hovers, vertical tree guides under parent rows (opaque underlay so dark-mode translucent borders don't stack), no horizontal dividers under expanded parents; the swipe-to-archive reveal layer shows only mid-swipe; board toggle uses the `SquareKanban` glyph - Kanban: every column carries a status-hued tint; lanes default expanded (including empty); compact mode collapses empty lanes to labeled rails (fixes a clipped, label-less empty-column state) - Storybook: new AgentDetail page story (realistic fixtures, light+dark) joins the visual suite; suite captures with `reducedMotion: 'reduce'` and the ux-lab reasoning ticker honors `prefers-reduced-motion`; a stale lexical alias in `storybook/main.ts` is fixed (build was broken since the lexical 0.46 bump) - Keyboard navigation, from live review of the unified lists: inbox navigation keys work on every tab (archive keys stay scoped to the archivable tab); keyboard-driven scrolling no longer hands the selection to whatever row lands under the stationary cursor (hover selects only after real pointer movement); the tasks list view gains the same j/k / arrows / Enter selection model as the inbox; and the `g` then `i` go-to-inbox chord works app-wide instead of only on the issue detail page - Token gates restored to 3/3 CLEAN (tokenized a post-#9134 regression in the recovery card); decisions recorded in `doc/design/DECISION-SHEET.md` and `doc/design/COMPONENT-INVENTORY.md` (investigation verdicts: FileTree vs WorkspaceFileBrowser and the four entity pickers stay separate — evidence included) ## Verification - `pnpm check:token-gates` → 3/3 CLEAN - `pnpm typecheck` → green (all packages) - `cd ui && npx vitest run` → 2106/2106 (assertions updated in lockstep where they documented superseded decisions; new tests for the global go-to-inbox chord) - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` → exit 0 - `pnpm build-storybook` → succeeds (also fixes the lexical-alias break on master) - Visual regression: 514-snapshot Playwright suite green against the updated baseline (zero diffs from the keyboard-navigation round — those changes are purely behavioral). Note: baselines live outside git per the suite design and the baseline-manifest archive is not yet published, so CI cannot run this suite — it was run locally throughout; every visible delta was reviewed screen-by-screen in a live instance across nine review rounds. Review evidence (before/after triplets) intentionally kept out of the repo for size; available on request. - Manual: exercised dashboard, tasks (list + board), inbox, agents, skills, costs, settings, and artifact surfaces in light and dark themes ## Risks - Wide but shallow visual surface: most changes are class-string substitutions with behavior preserved (props, handlers, roles, test ids). The riskiest areas — dnd-kit card refs (React 19 ref-as-prop), inbox swipe-to-archive, and sidebar overlays — are covered by existing unit tests (all green) and were manually exercised. - Intentional visual deltas (rounded cards, tinted kanban columns, md status glyphs, unified hovers) are design decisions recorded in `doc/design/DECISION-SHEET.md`; each maps to a re-baselined snapshot set locally. - The visual suite cannot yet run in CI (unpublished baseline archive — pre-existing condition from #9134); until that lands, snapshot coverage is local-only. ## Model Used - Claude Fable 5 (`claude-fable-5`, Anthropic) via Claude Code — agentic coding with tool use (file editing, test execution, Playwright screenshot verification); extended thinking enabled. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI gates are green (will confirm once CI runs) - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups (pending first review) - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(ui): single-source design tokens, visual regression suite, and theme retune (#9134)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - Its UI is the operator's daily surface: task lists, boards, budgets, agent status — all built on shadcn components and Tailwind > - Visual values (colors, spacing, type sizes, radii) were hardcoded at ~1,600 call sites: the same "small gray label" was 9/10/11px depending on the file, charts disagreed with chips about status colors, two toggle-switch implementations coexisted in two greens, and there was no visual regression coverage > - This made the UI drift-prone and made any restyle a hundreds-of-files project, which discourages design iteration > - This pull request extracts visual values into a single token layer in `ui/src/index.css`, adds a Storybook visual regression suite backed by external immutable baseline archives, and then applies a deliberate retune reviewed change-by-change on screenshot diffs > - The benefit is that Paperclip's look becomes a config surface: retheming is a token edit reviewed as a snapshot diff, drift is blocked by a token gate, and future UI PRs can prove exactly what changed visually without committing hundreds of PNGs ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No existing public issue covers this work (searched "design tokens", "visual regression", "design system" across issues and PRs). Related in spirit: Refs #8982 (theming a hardcoded panel — a one-off instance of the same problem class this PR addresses systematically). **Problem (feature-request form):** UI visual values are hardcoded per call site with no source of truth and no regression coverage; consistency depends on reviewer memory, and restyling requires mass file edits. **Proposed solution (this PR):** a single token layer + enforcement gate + externally stored visual snapshot suite, then an intentional restyle on top of that foundation. ## What Changed - **Token extraction (zero visual change, machine-verified during development):** committed codemods (`scripts/codemod-*.mjs`) moved ~1,600 hardcoded color/type/spacing/radius/shadow/misc values into named tokens in a non-inline `:root` block of `ui/src/index.css`. - **Visual regression suite:** `pnpm test:storybook-visual` covers 255 stories × light/dark = 510 Playwright screenshots at `maxDiffPixels: 0`, plus new primitive-coverage stories and deterministic-render fixes. - **External visual baselines:** committed PNG snapshots were removed. `tests/storybook-visual/baseline-manifest.json` pins an immutable archive URL/hash/size/count, and `scripts/storybook-visual-baseline.mjs` handles `download`, `verify`, `pack`, and trusted maintainer `upload` flows. - **Opt-in visual CI artifacts:** added a `Storybook Visual` workflow that runs on manual dispatch or PRs labeled `storybook-visual`, downloads/verifies the baseline, runs Playwright, and uploads Playwright report/test-result artifacts for review. Normal PR runs do not mutate baseline objects. - **Token gate:** `pnpm check:token-gates` — zero hex literals, zero arbitrary bracket values, zero raw font-sizes in `ui/src/components/**` and `ui/src/pages/**`, with a documented inline allowlist for legitimate opt-outs. - **Theme retune (intentional, snapshot-reviewed):** new base theme values; radius ladder derived from a single `--radius` knob; micro-type cluster collapsed to a named ladder (`--text-nano/micro/compact` + Tailwind `text-xs`/`text-sm`); letter-spacing collapsed to named steps. - **One status-color vocabulary:** charts, quota/budget bar fills, RUNNING/live chips, and liveness indicators all use the canonical `--status-*` hues. Light-mode legibility fixes for red alert surfaces that used dark-tuned text classes. - **One switch:** `ToggleSwitch` restyled to the registry capsule form, second hand-rolled implementation removed, and all call sites unified. - **Docs:** `DESIGN.md` is the design contract; `doc/design/` holds audit reports, decision logs, and updated guidance for external baseline review/update workflows. - Dead code removed (`agentStatusBadge` duplicate map), byte-identical contrast constants consolidated, semantic renames (`--project-seed`/`--project-none`, `--liveness-blue`). ## Verification - `pnpm check:token-gates` — 3/3 gates CLEAN during the design-system run - `pnpm typecheck` && `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` — green during the design-system run - `node --test scripts/__tests__/storybook-visual-baseline.test.mjs` — pass after external-baseline rework - `pnpm exec tsc --noEmit --pretty false --module NodeNext --moduleResolution NodeNext --target ES2022 --types node,@playwright/test tests/storybook-visual/playwright.config.ts tests/storybook-visual/storybook-visual.spec.ts` — pass after external-baseline rework - `git diff --check origin/pr/9134..HEAD` — pass after external-baseline rework - `find tests/storybook-visual -type f -name '*.png' -print | wc -l` — `0` - `node scripts/storybook-visual-baseline.mjs verify` — intentionally fails closed until the first trusted maintainer publishes the baseline archive and updates `baseline-manifest.json` ## Risks - **Large but shallow:** the PR still touches many UI files due to mechanical token extraction and retune work, but committed PNG snapshot churn has been removed from the branch. - **Baseline publication required before the visual suite can pass in clean clones:** the manifest currently has placeholder archive metadata. A trusted maintainer must publish the first immutable archive, then update `baseline-manifest.json`. - **Rendering platform variance:** the external baseline should be captured in the documented Linux/Chromium environment. Future CI runs verify against the pinned archive and fail closed on checksum/count mismatch. - **Visual CI is opt-in while stabilizing:** add the `storybook-visual` label or dispatch the workflow manually to produce downloadable Playwright report/test-result artifacts. - **Scheduled follow-ups, deliberately out of scope:** Tailwind palette classes map to semantic tokens in a dedicated pass; card/pill component consolidation; ESLint ratchet. Tracked in `doc/design/DECISION-SHEET.md`. ## Model Used Claude Fable 5 (Anthropic, `claude-fable-5`, Mythos-class tier) with extended thinking, running in Claude Code with tool use; mechanical phases delegated to Claude Sonnet subagents. Follow-up external-baseline rework assisted by OpenAI Codex (`gpt-5` coding agent with repository, terminal, and GitHub tool use). All bulk rewrites executed via deterministic, idempotent scripts committed in `scripts/`; intentional visual changes were human-reviewed on screenshot contact sheets. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run targeted local verification and documented the intentional baseline-publication failure above - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI gates are green *(pending new CI run after this rework)* - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups *(pending review)* - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) and OpenAI Codex --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Dotta <bippadotta@protonmail.com> Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

PAP-10430: split Issue-to-Task copy migration (#7651)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The board UI is the operator surface where users create, assign, monitor, and review work items. > - The product language is moving toward "tasks" for user-facing work items while the internal API and database still use "issues". > - PR #7543 bundled this copy migration with broader information-architecture work, which made the branch too large for Greptile review. > - This pull request peels the Issue-to-Task copy migration into a smaller, independently reviewable change. > - The benefit is clearer user-facing terminology, less agent confusion via the Paperclip skill note, and a smaller PR that Greptile can review. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #7645 Refs #7543 Refs PAP-10430 This PR was split out of #7543 so the Issue-to-Task copy migration can be reviewed separately and the remaining IA PR can fall under Greptile's file limit. ## What Changed - Preserves Scott Tong's original `PAP-57` copy-only commit, with author and co-author credit intact, to rename user-facing "Issues" copy to "Tasks" across the UI while keeping routes/API/internal symbols as `issue`. - Updates onboarding and release-smoke browser selectors from `Create & Open Issue` to `Create & Open Task`. - Adds a terminology note to `skills/paperclip/SKILL.md` clarifying that task and issue refer to the same Paperclip work item. - Resolves the only cherry-pick conflict by keeping current search artifacts support and changing visible search copy to "tasks". ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` passed. - `NODE_ENV=test pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/components/IssuesList.test.tsx ui/src/components/Sidebar.test.tsx ui/src/components/NewIssueDialog.test.tsx ui/src/pages/IssueDetail.test.tsx` passed: 4 files, 66 tests. - `git diff --check origin/master...HEAD` passed. - Diff is 80 files, below Greptile's 100-file limit. - Before/after UI copy examples: "Issues" -> "Tasks", "New Issue" -> "New Task", "Create & Open Issue" -> "Create & Open Task". ## Risks - Medium copy-risk: this intentionally changes user-facing terminology broadly while keeping internal issue identifiers and routes unchanged. - Some docs and APIs still say `issue`; the skill note clarifies this so agents do not treat task and issue as separate entities. - Browser-level visual validation is expected from CI because this local container is missing usable browser dependencies. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used Scott Tong authored the original `PAP-57` copy migration, assisted by Claude Opus 4.8 and Paperclip agents per the preserved commit metadata. [codex] Add source-scoped recovery actions (#5599)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is a control plane for autonomous AI companies, where work must end with a clear disposition rather than ambiguous agent liveness. > - Recovery currently detects stalled or missing-next-step issues, but source issue recovery can become split across child recovery issues, blockers, and comments. > - That makes it harder for operators and agents to see who owns recovery and what exact action is needed on the original issue. > - Source-scoped recovery actions give the original issue a first-class active recovery state with owner, evidence, wake policy, and resolution outcome. > - This pull request adds the recovery-action data model, backend reconciliation and resolution APIs, and board UI indicators/actions. > - The benefit is clearer stalled-work recovery without losing source issue context or relying on comments as the liveness path. ## What Changed - Added the `issue_recovery_actions` schema, shared types/constants/validators, and an idempotent `0084_issue_recovery_actions` migration ordered after current `master` migrations. - Updated stranded/missing-disposition recovery to create source-scoped recovery actions, wake the recovery owner on the source issue, and avoid locking the source issue for recovery-action wakes. - Added API support for reading active recovery actions on issue detail/list surfaces and resolving them with restored, blocked, cancelled, or false-positive outcomes. - Require blocked recovery resolutions to have an unresolved first-class blocker, and removed the UI shortcut that could mark recovery blocked without a blocker selection path. - Surfaced recovery indicators/actions in the issue UI, blocker notices, active run panels, issue rows, and Storybook coverage. - Updated docs and focused tests for recovery semantics, ownership, races, stale comments, and UI behavior. ## Verification - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/issue-recovery-actions.test.ts server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-process-recovery.test.ts ui/src/components/IssueRecoveryActionCard.test.tsx ui/src/components/IssueBlockedNotice.test.tsx ui/src/api/issues.test.ts` — 5 files, 72 tests passed. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/shared typecheck` — passed. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/db typecheck` — passed, including migration numbering check. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` — passed. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` — passed. - Follow-up verification after blocker-resolution guard: `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/issue-recovery-actions.test.ts ui/src/components/IssueRecoveryActionCard.test.tsx ui/src/api/issues.test.ts` — 3 files, 27 tests passed. - Follow-up `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` — passed. - Follow-up `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` — passed. - UI states are available in `ui/storybook/stories/source-issue-recovery.stories.tsx`; screenshot capture helper is `scripts/screenshot-recovery-card.cjs`. ## Risks - Medium: recovery behavior changes from child recovery issue ownership toward source-scoped actions, so operators may see stalled-work state in new places. - Migration risk is mitigated by using the next migration slot after `master` and making the table/constraints/index creation idempotent for anyone who previously applied the old branch-local `0082_dizzy_master_mold` migration. - Existing child recovery issue paths are still guarded for already-created recovery issues, but new source-scoped flows should be watched in CI and Greptile review. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex, GPT-5 coding agent, tool use enabled for shell, Git, GitHub, and local test execution. Context window not exposed by the runtime. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] If this change affects the UI, I have included before/after screenshots - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

Improve operator workflow QoL (#5291)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is a control plane operators use repeatedly to supervise agent companies. > - Common operator workflows depend on fast scanning of inboxes, issue sidebars, workspaces, cost totals, and runtime services. > - Several small UI and service gaps made those workflows slower or less clear. > - This pull request groups the operator-facing QoL changes that can stand alone from recovery and adapter work. > - The benefit is a denser, clearer board experience for issue triage and workspace operation. ## What Changed - Added inbox assignee/project grouping and issue list token/runtime totals. - Improved issue properties with removable blocker chips and workspace task links. - Improved execution workspace layout, runtime controls, issues tab default, and stopped-port reuse behavior. - Added mobile markdown/routine dialog fixes, page title company names, sidebar polish, and dashboard run task label cleanup. ## Verification - `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile` - `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/lib/inbox.test.ts ui/src/components/IssueProperties.test.tsx ui/src/components/WorkspaceRuntimeControls.test.tsx server/src/__tests__/workspace-runtime.test.ts server/src/__tests__/costs-service.test.ts` ## Risks - Medium UI risk because this touches several operator surfaces. The branch is intentionally grouped around workflow/QoL files and keeps the file count below the Greptile limit. ## Model Used - OpenAI GPT-5 Codex via Paperclip `codex_local` adapter, with shell/git/GitHub CLI tool use.

[codex] Harden dashboard run activity charts (#4126)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip gives operators a live view of agent work across dashboards, transcripts, and run activity charts > - Those views consume live run updates and aggregate run activity from backend dashboard data > - Missing or partial run data could make charts brittle, and live transcript updates were heavier than needed > - Operators need dashboard data to stay stable even when recent run payloads are incomplete > - This pull request hardens dashboard run aggregation, guards chart rendering, and lightens live run update handling > - The benefit is a more reliable dashboard during active agent execution ## What Changed - Added dashboard run activity types and backend aggregation coverage. - Guarded activity chart rendering when run data is missing or partial. - Reduced live transcript update churn in active agent and run chat surfaces. - Fixed issue chat avatar alignment in the thread renderer. - Added focused dashboard, activity chart, and live transcript tests. ## Verification - `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile --ignore-scripts` - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/dashboard-service.test.ts ui/src/components/ActivityCharts.test.tsx ui/src/components/transcript/useLiveRunTranscripts.test.tsx` - Result: 8 tests passed, 1 skipped. The embedded Postgres dashboard service test skipped on this host with the existing PGlite/Postgres init warning; UI chart and transcript tests passed. ## Risks - Medium-low risk: aggregation semantics changed, but the UI remains guarded around incomplete data. - The dashboard service test is host-skipped here, so CI should confirm the embedded database path. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex coding agent based on GPT-5, tool-enabled local shell and GitHub workflow, exact runtime context window not exposed in this session. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] If this change affects the UI, I have included before/after screenshots, or documented why targeted component tests are sufficient here - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

Support issue identifiers (PAP-39) in URLs and prefer them throughout
Backend: - Add router.param middleware in issues, activity, and agents routes to resolve identifiers (e.g. PAP-39) to UUIDs before handlers run - Simplify GET /issues/:id now that param middleware handles resolution - Include identifier in getAncestors response and issuesForRun query - Add identifier field to IssueAncestor shared type Frontend: - Update all issue navigation links across 15+ files to use issue.identifier ?? issue.id instead of bare UUIDs - Add URL redirect in IssueDetail: navigating via UUID automatically replaces the URL with the human-readable identifier - Fix childIssues filter to use issue.id (UUID) instead of URL param so it works correctly with identifier-based URLs - Add issueUrl() utility in lib/utils.ts Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> |
