fix(server): schedule plugin jobs from saved deadlines (#17518)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip manages agents and plugin work. > - Plugins can declare cron jobs with saved deadlines. > - The existing scheduler queries for due jobs every 30 seconds, even when none exist. > - Empty queries keep an otherwise idle database active. > - This PR uses the shared scheduler and committed job changes to discover work. > - Existing job and run rows preserve deadlines and execution history. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What happened?** The plugin scheduler on the base of this stack runs empty periodic SQL. Its registration path also advances overdue timestamps. An empty replacement manifest can leave removed schedules active. **Expected behavior** No recurring SQL when no eligible jobs exist. Configured jobs wait for their saved deadline. Changes reactivate scheduling after commit. Work remains protected through drain and shutdown. **Steps to reproduce** Start the plugin scheduler with no jobs. After startup, observe queries during a three-minute idle window. The new PostgreSQL regression failed on the baseline and passes with this change. **Paperclip version or commit** Stacked on #17510 at `4d15c08428`. Deployment: source checkout, local PostgreSQL, controlled plugin RPC. Related: #7905 covers empty-manifest sync; this migration requires that behavior on both activation paths. #11571 proposes company-scoped jobs; this PR preserves the existing instance-scoped job contract. ## What Changed - Install the concurrency test barrier before due job notifications can dispatch. - Make dispatch the sole reservation owner and preserve retained or concurrently committed results when unregistering a plugin. - Replace the private interval with the existing shared deadline worker. - Signal job definition and run changes inside their owning transactions. No new tables. - Wake from plugin registration and worker status events. Retain explicit scheduler wakes received during drain. - Preserve overdue work and initialize only missing or changed schedules. - Recheck claims under a job-row lock. Keep plugin calls outside transactions and refill capacity on completion. - Commit completion and schedule advancement together. Retry failed persistence without repeating the plugin side effect. - Track admitted calls through shutdown and synchronize empty manifests. ## Verification This PR now targets master after #17510 merged as `4e27a82a4265c01f3ab4f05aaecc010a0026de75`. The normal landed-parent merge preserves the entire verified `df78ca3b5e` tree byte for byte; only final publication docs change afterwards. The PR still differs in its original seventeen paths and has no database schema or migration change. Primary test revision: `36be0bd73363680d7666d94ff5f1dd28b27f4235`, on parent `ba80060407`. Final integration of parent `51668b8240` preserves all plugin/runtime/shutdown sources from that proof and passes all 63 cases in complete plugin, approval-seeding and scoped-deadline suites at `56ce7c1d2a`, plus server types/build. Only six parent seeding/doc files changed; this is not a rerun of all eleven suites. Only the original seventeen plugin-scheduling paths differ from that parent; all other tracked files, including migration history, match it. - **247 cases pass in eleven complete suites:** plugin scheduler, shutdown, warm standby, plugin environment-driver readiness, delivery coordinator, both retention workers, approval seeding, decision expiry, scoped deadlines and startup. Server typecheck and production build pass. - The new real PostgreSQL lock test failed before the repair: shutdown remained pending while the completion update waited for a held run row. After repair, shutdown reports the statement timeout while the lock remains held; retry after release commits the saved result with exactly one plugin invocation. All 34 scheduler cases pass. - Existing regressions preserve real committed schedule changes, saved deadlines, manual/scheduled reservation, retained success and failure results during unregister, completion/unregister lock order, independent progress, rollback/outer commit, quiet configured states, drain/resume and shutdown cleanup. - The parent's complete seeding/producer run passed 522 cases at its stated revision. Earlier duplicate reservations, overwritten retained results, hourly-clock fixture failures and combined-stack CI/setup failures remain recorded in `doc/idle-plugin-jobs.md`, its dated audit and the stack ledger; they are not erased or recounted as this candidate's tests. - The completion timeout is transaction-local and defaults to thirty seconds per PostgreSQL statement. It does not bound every shutdown/network operation or make plugin side effects safe to replay. No full local repository-suite or deployed host-sleep claim is made. Commands: server Vitest for the eleven suites above; server typecheck/build. Fresh exact-head CI, Greptile and Ponytail reviews remain required before merge. ## Risks - This uses process-local notifications. Independent SQL writers and other replicas need their own wake integration. - A run left unresolved after process loss is not automatically replayed: the external effect may have occurred. Existing lifecycle/operator reconciliation must resolve it. Live-process settlement failures retry without replay. - Job definitions remain instance-scoped. This PR does not implement company-scoped job dispatch. - Cloud's plugin sleep blockers remain. Internal deadlines do not add durable external wake coverage or prove deployed sleep. - The shared deadline helper now retains direct lifecycle wakes through drain; existing coordinator and decision deadline consumers are tested. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-6-based agent, with repository tools, code execution, and GitHub access. The exact serving model version and context-window size are not exposed in this session. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes: #` / `Closes #` / `Refs #` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal/instance-local Paperclip issues or links (only public GitHub `#NNN` / `github.com/paperclipai/paperclip` URLs) - [x] My branch name describes the change (e.g. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

perf: filter sandbox provider lookups in Postgres (#17395)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Sandbox execution selects a provider from installed plugin manifests. > - Driver-key lookup reads every plugin row before it finds a matching declaration. > - Repeated lookups transfer manifests for unrelated plugins. > - The registry owns this database read and can filter candidates before returning rows. > - This pull request adds that filter and keeps the existing provider selection checks. > - The returned data now grows with matching providers instead of the full catalog. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **Problem or motivation** `resolvePluginSandboxProviderDriverByKey` calls the unfiltered registry catalog on each lookup. The caller only needs plugins with a sandbox-provider declaration for one driver key. Unrelated plugin manifests still cross the database connection and are decoded in the server. **Proposed solution** Add an optional sandbox-provider driver-key filter to `pluginRegistryService().list`. Match the key and kind on the same JSON declaration in Postgres. Pass the key from the existing resolver. Keep full matching rows, install order, status checks and worker checks. **Alternatives considered** A catalog cache would need an invalidation contract for plugin updates and independent writers. This change keeps fresh database reads. Returning only one SQL row could skip a later eligible provider when an earlier worker is unavailable. The filter therefore keeps all matching candidates. **Roadmap alignment** This is a small performance fix to existing plugin execution. It adds no product feature or provider. Searches for sandbox/driver lookup and plugin catalog/filter work found no duplicate PR or issue. ## What Changed - Add an optional JSONB containment filter to the existing registry list read. - Use it in sandbox-provider lookup by driver key. The unfiltered catalog call keeps its existing behavior. - Add real-Postgres regression coverage and a short developer note. ## Verification - Four focused provider-selection/recovery/seam suites passed: 27 tests. - `pnpm build`: passed. - `pnpm -r typecheck`: passed. - The new Postgres tests seed large unrelated manifests and verify the actual resolver SQL filters rows in the database. They cover key/kind matching within one declaration, unfiltered reads, install order, disabled and unavailable workers, live status/declaration changes, unknown keys and bound unusual input. - The filter keeps the existing SQL call count. It does not add a network call, cache, timer, or background worker. - `git diff --check`: passed. Reviewed the staged diff for secrets and private account data before push. - Full PR CI passed on `6f97c984a931416b6347e9885d840557c54d8aab`: 54 successful checks and two expected skips. [Workflow evidence](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/40041294925). - Apex review: 5/5 on that exact head, completed cleanly, with no comments or unresolved threads. Merge state is clean. - The prior local full run on parent work is documented in #17384. It did not pass because of test setup, host Git-default assumptions and transient failures. Those results were preserved and triaged against unchanged code. This change uses focused local checks and full current-head CI; no new local full-suite pass is claimed. - No hosted user journey, live provider throughput, production deployment or billed savings is claimed. ## Risks - JSONB containment checks the stored manifest before returning rows. It still scans candidate metadata in the database; no index or SQL-call reduction is claimed. - Both key and kind must match the same declaration. The regression fixture includes a plugin with those values on different declarations. - Selection still uses the existing install-order and live readiness/worker checks. Matching disabled records remain visible to callers that do not require a running worker. - No schema, API response, provider protocol, file-copy behavior or scheduling changes. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-6 family. The exact deployment model ID and context window are not exposed in this session. Used reasoning, repository tools and code execution. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

Deliver durable resource lifecycle events to plugins without polling (#16203)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip manages AI agents and their work. > - Plugins keep external resources aligned with Paperclip projects and agents. > - The durable resource journal stores changes, but its plugin interface requires polling. > - Project deletion has no journal entry, so consumers must scan for missing projects. > - This PR delivers committed journal events through a native plugin callback and records deletion. > - Plugins can recover unfinished work without periodic change scans. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Related: #15343 introduced the durable inbox. #15631 added required agent lifecycle participation. This change keeps both contracts and adds automatic delivery for the resource inbox. **What happened?** Plugins must schedule reads of the durable inbox. A deleted project has no durable deletion event. Consumers must scan saved bindings to detect its removal. **Expected behavior** Core should deliver committed resource events and replay unfinished work. Empty queues should have no polling timer. Project removal should leave a durable event. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Install a plugin that consumes project lifecycle events. 2. Create or update a project. The plugin must call `listLifecycle` to discover it. 3. Delete the project. The journal has no deletion entry. ## What Changed - Add `resourceLifecycle` to the manifest and `onResourceLifecycle` to the SDK. Require `events.subscribe` and a configured, enabled company scope. - Reuse transaction-aware work signals and the delivery coordinator. Wake after commit, on startup and plugin activation, and after configuration changes. - Acknowledge only a matching successful result. Retry unfinished or interrupted work. Retain deferred events without an idle retry timer. - Wake again after successful worker configuration application, and retain failed scans through idle drain (both Apex findings fixed). - Keep ordering per resource and deliver past failed or deferred resources. Keep the manual inbox methods for existing consumers. - Record project deletion in the removal transaction. Extend the journal constraint with a generated migration. ## Verification - Apex follow-up: 129 focused worker, delivery, coordinator, and application tests passed; server typecheck passed. Regression coverage verifies configuration-application races and failed scans across idle drain. - Focused lifecycle, transaction coordinator, manifest, and SDK dispatch suites: 105 tests passed, including single-connection saves, redacted failure diagnostics, wakeups retained during idle drain, and per-event retry deadlines. - Complete SDK suite plus delivery database tests: 128 tests passed. - Shared, database, and SDK typechecks passed. Direct server `tsc --noEmit` passed against rebuilt SDK declarations. - Full local `pnpm test:run` finished with 19,491 passed, 148 skipped, and 6 failed tests across 5 files (plus two suite setup errors). This run overlapped branch updates and is not final-head evidence: failures included missing Cargo, local Git default-branch assumptions, and stale in-process lifecycle modules. Final Apex-fix commit `75d028788` passed all CI gates, including the full test shards, and received Apex 5/5 with no unresolved comments. - `pnpm -r typecheck` and `pnpm build` were attempted. Both stopped because Cargo is unavailable locally. CI supplies the Rust toolchain. - Local installation used the repository's documented lockfile fallback because master has dependencies missing from its lockfile. No dependency changes are included here. ## Risks - Delivery is at least once. Plugins must re-read current state and make external effects idempotent. - Signals are process-local, like the other delivery queues. Startup recovers committed rows. Independent database writers or multiple active server processes require an explicit ownership and wake protocol. - Apply migration `0340_open_warlock.sql` before running code that records project deletion. Earlier deletions cannot be reconstructed. - Automatic delivery selects plugins with company configuration rows. `deferred` waits for a later startup, configuration change, or other work notification. - This does not replace required agent lifecycle participation or establish that external mounts are unused. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex (GPT-6), with tool-assisted code editing, code inspection, and test execution. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [ ] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

feat(plugins): support image catalogs and persistent application overlays (#13646)
## Thinking Path
> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - Plugins extend the application without adding each integration to
Core.
> - A downstream image needs a way to supply prebuilt plugins.
> - Some plugin UI must stay mounted as users move between pages.
> - This change adds an image catalog and a persistent application slot.
> - Operators can upgrade or remove these plugins through their image
and configuration.
## Linked Issues or Issue Description
**Subsystem affected**
Plugin packaging, activation and application UI.
**Problem or motivation**
The built-in plugin catalog is fixed in Core source. Downstream images
cannot add entries through an explicit catalog. Existing page slots also
cannot preserve a small application overlay across route changes.
**Proposed solution**
Read a bounded catalog of prebuilt plugins from the image. Verify its
files before importing manifests. Use the existing managed selection and
plugin lifecycle. Add an `appShellOverlay` slot with account and company
cleanup.
**Alternatives considered**
A downstream fork adds merge work. Script injection provides no plugin
lifecycle. A separate runtime download system adds a second distribution
channel.
**Roadmap alignment**
This extends the existing plugin system. Related PR #9006 covers runtime
install replication; this change covers immutable image contents. PR
#12555 covers CLI scaffolding. Neither provides this catalog or
application slot. The maintainer requested this work directly.
## What Changed
- Validate catalog identities, confined paths, package versions and
bundle hashes before importing code.
- Apply image selection to persisted plugin installs, including removal
and rollback. Adopt the verified image path from existing npm/local
installs and bind runtime worker/UI entrypoints to verified package
declarations.
- Mount application overlays in both UI shells. Preserve route state and
clear it on account, company and onboarding changes.
- Restrict service-worker offline storage/fallback to hashed public
assets in a separate cache namespace; exclude application HTML and
extension/API data, including after worker restart.
- Document the packaging contract, trust model and rollback
requirements.
## Verification
- Passed `pnpm -r typecheck`, `pnpm build`, and `pnpm
check:token-gates`. Affected server/UI typechecks and builds, plus token
gates, passed again after rebasing onto current master; the 124 focused
tests also passed after rebase.
- Latest focused verification: 124 tests in nine files passed for
catalog/reconciliation/loader, overlay lifecycle, Layout and
service-worker policy. The broader UI/shared/SDK run passed 7,204 tests
in 690 files with canonical `TMPDIR`.
- Real disposable Core/PostgreSQL: catalog install, selection removal,
0.1.0→0.1.1→0.1.0, same-version npm/legacy-path adoption, and
preservation of disabled status passed. Added permissions entered
`upgrade_pending`, withheld UI across restart, and activated only after
explicit operator enable.
- Real Chromium: desktop/mobile layout, route draft retention and
Escape/focus passed with mocked extension responses. A persistent
browser restart retained public hashed-asset offline fallback while
refusing seeded legacy/current private entries and legacy HTML.
- Full `pnpm test:run`: 12,539 passed; 17 failed across six existing
files, stopping later phases. macOS read-only directory renames fail in
runtime-skill-cache and company-skills-service; email tests require an
absent local AgentMail fixture. Native runner/comment-redaction passed
in isolation after temporary Rust setup; agent-conversations also passed
in isolation. No unrelated source was changed to hide failures.
- After rebase, two unchanged chat timing tests failed in CI and passed
locally in isolation. Their CI shard passed on its single retry. All
other current-head CI jobs passed on the initial run; review is 5/5 with
no unresolved threads.
- No live deployment or external plugin service was used.
## Risks
- Plugins are trusted code. The catalog detects packaging errors; it
does not authenticate an untrusted image builder.
- Invalid catalogs fail startup. Images must contain the catalog and
bundles together, with stable directories.
- A host older than this contract lacks the activation guard. Disable
added plugins and remove their configuration keys before reverting to
it.
- Offline navigation now returns 503 instead of replaying cached
application HTML. Only public build assets have offline fallback.
- Rolling back an unapproved permission change retains the approval
gate; review the current manifest and explicitly enable it. A reduced
permission set cannot establish prior approval or prior enabled status.
- Plugin data migrations need their own rollback policy. This change
retains installed records and does not reverse migrations.
## Model Used
- OpenAI GPT-6 (Codex), model ID `gpt-6`, with repository inspection,
code execution and browser verification. The runtime does not expose an
exact context-window size.

fix(plugin-sdk): thread companyId through configChanged + fail-closed cross-tenant guard (LOOA-687) (#10096)
## Thinking Path
> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - First-party **plugins** run as isolated workers spawned by the host
`plugin-loader`, reading company-scoped config through a governed
`ctx.config.get(companyId)` channel.
> - The host→worker `configChanged` RPC carries `{ config, companyId }`,
but the SDK dispatch dropped the scope — `onConfigChanged(newConfig)`
was companyId-blind by design — so a **proactive** worker kept a single
worker-global config.
> - #10092 added a startup replay that fans out **every** stored
company's config through `configChanged`. With no deterministic
ordering, a plugin configured for more than one distinct company ends up
running as whichever DB row was delivered last.
> - That is a latent cross-tenant identity/secret confusion bug: one
company's bot token could be applied to another company's traffic.
> - This pull request threads `companyId` through `onConfigChanged` and
adds a fail-closed cross-tenant guard at the SDK layer, so a
single-tenant worker can never silently collapse to a second company's
config.
> - The benefit is that the config-delivery class is fixed at the SDK
boundary — before any genuinely multi-company proactive plugin ships —
without changing today's single-tenant behavior.
## Linked Issues or Issue Description
No public GitHub issue — describing in-PR (hardening / latent security):
**Latent cross-tenant config collapse.** The worker-side `configChanged`
dispatch forwarded only `config` and dropped `companyId`, so a proactive
plugin kept a single worker-global config. #10092's startup replay
delivers every configured company's config sequentially with no `ORDER
BY`, so a plugin with configs for more than one distinct company would
apply a nondeterministic last-write-wins global config (one tenant's
credential applied to another's traffic).
- Builds on and must merge after #10092.
- Not exploitable today: the only proactive consumer (the chat gateway)
has single-tenant config rows, so last-write-wins is a no-op. This is a
hardening pre-condition before any multi-company proactive plugin ships.
## What Changed
- **Thread scope through:** `onConfigChanged(newConfig, context)` with a
new exported `PluginConfigChangeContext { companyId }`. Backward
compatible — the second arg is optional; existing single-arg
implementations are unaffected.
- **Fail-closed cross-tenant guard** (`worker-rpc-host.ts`): a
single-tenant plugin that receives `configChanged` for a second,
distinct company with a *different* config is rejected with the new
`PLUGIN_RPC_ERROR_CODES.CROSS_TENANT_CONFIG` instead of silently
overwriting the applied tenant's config. Idempotent replays of the
*same* config under a different scope row remain allowed.
- **Opt-in `multiCompanyConfig: true`** on the plugin definition for
plugins that genuinely serve multiple companies from one worker (keying
per-company state on `context.companyId`); the guard is bypassed for
those.
- **Deterministic `ORDER BY companyId`** on `registry.listConfigs`, so
the startup replay binds a single-tenant worker to a stable company
across restarts.
- **Loader visibility:** a `CROSS_TENANT_CONFIG` rejection is logged at
`warn` (was best-effort `debug`) so the misconfiguration is surfaced.
- **Regression test**
(`packages/plugins/sdk/tests/worker-rpc-host.test.ts`): two distinct
companies delivered via the startup-replay path fail closed and stay
bound to the first company; an idempotent same-config replay under a
different scope row is allowed; a `multiCompanyConfig` plugin receives
per-company config with the correct `context.companyId`.
## Verification
- SDK `tsc --noEmit`: clean.
- SDK vitest `worker-rpc-host.test.ts`: 7/7 pass (incl. 3 new). The
two-distinct-company case **fails against pre-fix code** and passes
after the fix.
- #10092 embedded-postgres `plugin-config-startup-delivery.test.ts`: 3/3
pass (unaffected by the new `ORDER BY`).
- Full server `tsc --noEmit` against this SDK: clean.
## Risks
- **Low functional risk.** The second `onConfigChanged` arg is optional
and existing implementations are unchanged. Today's single-tenant
gateway keeps working — idempotent same-config replays are explicitly
allowed, so the go-live is preserved.
- **Behavioral shift on misconfig:** a genuinely multi-company plugin
that has NOT opted into `multiCompanyConfig` now fails closed
(`CROSS_TENANT_CONFIG`) rather than silently collapsing to one tenant.
This is the intended safer default; opt in with `multiCompanyConfig:
true` to serve multiple companies from one worker.
- **Not in scope (residual).** Per-company workers/connections for a
genuinely multi-company gateway increase resource use and are tracked
separately (ties into the #10092 fan-out/timeout follow-up). This PR
fixes the class and fails closed; it does not build multi-tenant
connection management.

fix(plugin-loader): deliver stored config to freshly-started plugin workers (#10092)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - One capability is first-party **plugins** that run as isolated workers spawned by the host `plugin-loader`, reading company-scoped config through a governed `ctx.config.get(companyId)` channel. > - A **proactive** plugin (e.g. a chat gateway that opens a Slack Socket Mode connection at startup) does its company work from `setup()`, where there is **no company-scoped invocation** — so `ctx.config.get()` is rejected with `company context is required`. > - The worker swallows that error and falls back to its default (feature-off) config, so the plugin comes up **inert** even though correct config exists in the database. > - This is a regression from #9557 ("governed access contracts"), which changed `plugin-loader.ts` `activatePlugin` from loading stored config into the worker bootstrap to `const config = {}`. > - This pull request replays each configured company's stored config to the freshly-started worker over the **same `configChanged` host→worker path an operator config-save already uses**. > - The benefit is that proactive plugins receive their config on worker start (both server boot and operator enable) without weakening the governed-access surface. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No public GitHub issue — describing in-PR (bug): **Bug.** After a proactive plugin's worker spawns, it never receives its stored config. Governed access (`packages/plugins/sdk/src/host-client-factory.ts`) only resolves `config.get` inside a company-scoped invocation (event/action/tool, or explicit `params.companyId`). Proactive plugins operate from `setup()` where no such scope exists, so `config.get()` fails with `company context is required`, the worker falls back to defaults, and the feature stays disabled despite valid DB config. - Regression introduced by #9557. - Related follow-up (latent multi-company hardening): #10096. ## What Changed - `plugin-registry.ts`: add read-only `listConfigs(pluginId)` returning all stored company config rows for a plugin (scoped `where eq(pluginConfig.pluginId, pluginId)`). - `plugin-loader.ts`: after the worker starts in `activatePlugin`, replay each company's stored config through the existing `configChanged` host→worker RPC — one `{ config, companyId }` per row, the same payload shape as the operator config-save path in `routes/plugins.ts`. Best-effort and idempotent; covers both server-boot `loadAll` and operator enable. - test: DB-backed `plugin-config-startup-delivery.test.ts` covering `registry.listConfigs` completeness and cross-plugin isolation. ## Verification - `tsc --noEmit` on `@paperclipai/server` — clean. - New `plugin-config-startup-delivery.test.ts` (embedded-postgres, 3 cases) — pass. - Full PR CI green: typecheck, all server/e2e/serialized test shards, build, canary dry-run, verify, and the security scanners (Snyk, Socket, Superagent, Greptile). ## Risks - **Low functional risk.** Adds an outbound host→worker push that mirrors the already-shipped operator-save path. A worker without an `onConfigChanged` handler (or momentarily unavailable) simply keeps the runtime `ctx.config.get(companyId)` model. - **Startup fan-out.** One `configChanged` per configured company at activation (sequential, default RPC timeout). `plugin_config` rows are writable only by instance-admins, so fan-out size is operator-controlled — not a remote surface. - **No secret-handling change.** `configJson` is delivered as-is, exactly as `config.get`/operator-save already deliver it. No new secret sink; catch-blocks log only ids + `err.message` at debug, never `configJson`. - **Latent multi-company behavior (pre-existing, not introduced here).** The worker-side `configChanged` dispatch forwards only `config` (drops `companyId`), and `listConfigs` has no `ORDER BY`, so a plugin configured for **more than one** company would apply a nondeterministic last-write-wins global config. This is existing SDK behavior — operator-save already pushes into the same handler — and is **not reachable by the single-company consumer this fix targets**. Greptile flagged this shape (4/5). It is tracked and fixed as a separate, non-blocking hardening PR (#10096): thread `companyId` through `onConfigChanged`, deterministic ordering, bounded fan-out. ## Model Used Claude — Anthropic `claude-opus-4-8` (Opus 4.8), extended thinking, with tool use / code execution via Claude Code. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes:` / `Closes` / `Refs` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal/instance-local Paperclip issues or links (only public GitHub `#NNN` / `github.com/paperclipai/paperclip` URLs) - [ ] My branch name describes the change and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id — branch predates this rule; not renaming an open PR mid-review - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [ ] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes — no doc surface; internal SDK/host behavior only - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups — 4/5; two latent multi-company items triaged as non-blocking and fixed in follow-up #10096 (see Risks) - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge — addressed: triaged as non-blocking follow-up in #10096 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) Co-Authored-By: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

feat(mcp) [split 2/8]: add governed access contracts (#9557)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - Governed MCP access spans contracts, runtime enforcement, adapters, UI surfaces, and operator verification > - The parity reference PR #9534 is too large for effective automated or human review > - The feature therefore needs a linear stack whose individual diffs stay below the 100-file review limit > - This pull request is split 2/8 and focuses on database schema and shared governance contracts > - The benefit is a standalone, testable review boundary while preserving byte-for-byte parity at the top of the stack ## Linked Issues or Issue Description - Related parity reference: #9534 - Problem: The governed access model needs additive persistence and synchronized shared types before server enforcement can compile. - Proposed solution: Adds migrations 0148–0169, tool-access and Smoke Lab schema, shared types/validators/gallery helpers, and the minimal compile-required contract consumers identified by boundary testing. - Alternatives considered: keeping #9534 as one 403-file review, or rewriting the feature to manufacture seams; both were rejected in favor of path extraction plus compile-driven boundary moves. - Roadmap alignment: this advances the existing governed MCP/tool-access work already represented by #9534; it does not introduce a separate roadmap initiative. - Stack position: base branch is `pap10341-split/01-demo-servers`. - Merge policy: merge bottom-up, in order, only after the complete eight-PR stack has been reviewed and the top-of-stack parity gate remains empty. - Requested review: QA for migrations/validators; Greptile on every PR. ## What Changed - Adds migrations 0148–0169, tool-access and Smoke Lab schema, shared types/validators/gallery helpers, and the minimal compile-required contract consumers identified by boundary testing. - Keeps this PR below 100 changed files and independently typecheckable. - Preserves the final tree from #9534 when combined with the other seven stack levels. ## Verification - `pnpm typecheck` — passed, including migration numbering and safety checks - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/db test` — passed - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/shared test` — passed ## Risks - Migration or contract mistakes could affect every upper layer; all migrations are additive/idempotent and compile consumers are included in this boundary. - Stack risk: merging out of order can expose incomplete layers; mitigate by following the documented bottom-up merge policy. - Parity risk: later edits to an intermediate branch can drift from #9534; mitigate by re-running the empty top-of-stack diff before merge. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex, exact model ID `gpt-5.4`; runtime-managed context window; medium reasoning with repository, shell, Git, GitHub CLI, and code-execution tools enabled. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes: #` / `Closes #` / `Refs #` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] Internal references are omitted except the execution-plan link explicitly required for this coordinated split stack - [x] My branch name describes the change and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge ## Stack Coordination - Internal execution plan: [PAP-13874](/PAP/issues/PAP-13874#document-plan) - Parity reference: #9534 - Stack: #9556 → #9557 → #9558 → #9559 → #9560 → #9561 → #9562 → #9563 - Merge bottom-up only after full-stack review and an empty parity diff at #9563. --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

feat(security): plugin tables get company_id FK for tenant isolation (#5865)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies > - The plugin subsystem persists state into four tables (`plugin_entities`, `plugin_job_runs`, `plugin_logs`, `plugin_webhook_deliveries`) and those rows currently have no notion of an owning tenant — so company-deletion doesn't cascade plugin state, and operators have no way to query "what does this plugin own for company X?" > - The fix is one thin slice of tenant-isolation hygiene that doesn't change any external API: add a nullable `company_id` FK with `ON DELETE CASCADE` to the four plugin tables, index it, and scope the `plugin_entities` external-id uniqueness per-tenant > - The benefit is plugin-row tenant attribution + cascade cleanup, with zero impact on single-tenant local-first deploys (`NULL` continues to mean instance-scope) > **Rebase note (scope narrowed):** This PR originally also hardened the schedulers (`heartbeat.tickTimers` / `resumeQueuedRuns` / `enqueueWakeup` and `routines.tickScheduledTriggers`) to skip archived companies. That half has since landed on `master` via #7478 (`93206f73`, "Stop archived companies from waking agents") with a stricter implementation (`status != 'active'` plus a skipped-request audit row). On rebase those changes were dropped as redundant — `heartbeat.ts` and `routines.ts` are now identical to `master`, and the scheduler-specific tests were removed. **This PR is now DB-only.** ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No existing issue covers this directly — problem described in-PR: - Four plugin tables (`plugin_entities`, `plugin_job_runs`, `plugin_logs`, `plugin_webhook_deliveries`) persist rows with no notion of an owning tenant. - Company deletion therefore does not cascade plugin state, and operators have no way to query "what does this plugin own for company X?" - One thin slice of tenant-isolation hygiene fixes this without changing any external API: a nullable `company_id` FK with `ON DELETE CASCADE`, an index, and per-tenant scoping of the `plugin_entities` external-id uniqueness. - Part of the multi-tenant hardening initiative alongside #3967 (cross-tenant 404 oracle) and #5864 (per-company JWT keys). ## What Changed **Schema (`packages/db/src/schema/plugin_*.ts`):** - Nullable `companyId` FK with `onDelete: "cascade"` added to `plugin_entities`, `plugin_job_runs`, `plugin_logs`, `plugin_webhook_deliveries`. - A btree index on each new `company_id` column (`<table>_company_idx`). - `plugin_entities_external_idx` rescoped from `(plugin_id, entity_type, external_id)` to `(company_id, plugin_id, entity_type, external_id)` and switched to `UNIQUE … NULLS NOT DISTINCT` so instance-scope rows (`company_id IS NULL`) keep their dedup guarantee while tenants get their own namespace. **Migration:** - `0095_plugin_company_id_tenant_isolation.sql` — 14 statements: 4 column adds + 4 FK constraints (`ON DELETE CASCADE`) + 4 indexes + drop/recreate of the external-id unique constraint. - Journal entry + regenerated `0095_snapshot.json`. **Tests:** - `server/src/__tests__/plugin-tenant-isolation.test.ts` — `NULL` preserves backward compat; `CASCADE` on company delete across all four tables; per-tenant external-id namespacing; NULL-NULL collision rejected (`NULLS NOT DISTINCT`). ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/db run check:migrations` — pass. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/db typecheck` (`tsc`) — pass. - `vitest run plugin-tenant-isolation` — **4/4 pass** (embedded Postgres applies `0095` and exercises cascade + NULLS NOT DISTINCT). ## Notes - **Clean snapshot, no drift.** The earlier revision of this PR shipped a ~17.6k-line meta snapshot that was almost entirely pre-existing drift. On rebase the migration was renumbered (the old `0090_brainy_darkhawk` collided with `master`'s `0090_resource_memberships … 0094`) and regenerated from the current `master` baseline via `drizzle-kit generate`. The result is a 14-statement migration containing **only** the plugin-table changes — no unrelated drift. - **Backward-compatible.** `NULL company_id` continues to mean instance-scope (cron jobs, public webhooks). No new env vars, no API surface change. Single-tenant local-first deploys unaffected. ## Risks - **Migration is additive and nullable** — `0095` adds nullable `company_id` columns, FK constraints, and indexes; existing rows stay valid (`NULL` keeps meaning instance-scope) and no backfill is required. - **`ON DELETE CASCADE` is a behavioral change**: deleting a company now removes its plugin rows across all four tables. Intended (it is the point of the PR), but operators relying on plugin rows surviving company deletion would be affected. Covered by the cascade tests. - **Uniqueness semantics change on `plugin_entities`**: the external-id constraint is rescoped per-tenant and switched to `UNIQUE … NULLS NOT DISTINCT`, so two instance-scope rows (`company_id IS NULL`) with the same external id are now rejected instead of coexisting. Covered by the NULL-NULL collision test. - **No API surface change, no new env vars.** Single-tenant local-first deploys unaffected. (Section added retroactively to match the PR template; distilled from the What Changed / Notes sections above.) ## Model Used Same authoring setup as #5864 (same series, same day): Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context), extended thinking mode. (Section added retroactively.) ## Checklist - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] Tests run locally and pass (plugin-tenant-isolation 4/4) - [x] `check:migrations` + db typecheck pass - [x] No UI changes - [x] Migration carries only the intended changes (no snapshot drift) - [x] Scheduler half dropped as superseded by #7478 Part of the multi-tenant hardening initiative — see also #3967 (cross-tenant 404 oracle) and #5864 (per-company JWT keys). --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Devin Foley <devin@paperclip.ing> Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

Expand plugin host surface (#5205)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies > - The plugin system is the extension boundary for optional product capabilities > - Rich plugins need more than a worker entrypoint: they need scoped database storage, local project folders, managed agents/routines, host navigation, and reusable UI components > - The LLM Wiki work exposed those missing host surfaces while keeping plugin code outside the core control plane > - This pull request expands the core plugin host, SDK, server APIs, and UI bridge so plugins can declare and use those surfaces > - The benefit is that future plugins can integrate with Paperclip through documented, validated contracts instead of bespoke server or UI imports ## What Changed - Added plugin-managed database namespaces and migration tracking, including Drizzle schema/migration files and SQL validation for namespace isolation. - Added server support for plugin local folders, managed agents, managed routines, scoped plugin APIs, and plugin operation visibility. - Expanded shared plugin manifest/types/validators and SDK host/testing/UI exports for richer plugin surfaces. - Added reusable UI pieces for file trees, managed routines, resizable sidebars, route sidebars, and plugin bridge initialization. - Updated plugin docs and example plugins to use the expanded host and SDK surface. ## Verification - `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile` - `pnpm run preflight:workspace-links && pnpm exec vitest run packages/shared/src/validators/plugin.test.ts server/src/__tests__/plugin-database.test.ts server/src/__tests__/plugin-local-folders.test.ts server/src/__tests__/plugin-managed-agents.test.ts server/src/__tests__/plugin-managed-routines.test.ts server/src/__tests__/plugin-orchestration-apis.test.ts ui/src/api/plugins.test.ts ui/src/components/FileTree.test.tsx ui/src/components/ResizableSidebarPane.test.tsx ui/src/pages/PluginPage.test.tsx ui/src/plugins/bridge.test.ts` passed: 11 files, 67 tests. - Confirmed this PR changes 89 files and does not include `pnpm-lock.yaml` or `.github/workflows/*`. ## Risks - Medium: this expands plugin host contracts across db/shared/server/ui and includes a new core migration (`0076_useful_elektra.sql`). - The plugin database namespace validator is intentionally restrictive; plugin authors may need follow-up affordances for SQL patterns that remain blocked. - Merge this before the LLM Wiki plugin PR so the plugin can resolve the new SDK and host APIs. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex, GPT-5 coding agent, tool-enabled shell/git/GitHub workflow.
