fix(onboarding): drop the sign-in card's Cancel, and resume after Back (#12958)
The card carried a Cancel beside its instruction, directly above the step's own Back. Two ways out of one screen is one too many. Removing it was only safe if returning genuinely resumed the running session, and writing the test for that disproved the premise: coming back started a second login rather than adopting the first, which the server's per-owner lease rejects. Cancel was not duplicative — it was the only way out of a login the customer could no longer reach. The cause was the cache. The active-session read is a useQuery with no staleTime, so on the second mount it answered instantly from the first mount's cached null: isFetched was true, the resume effect concluded there was nothing to adopt, and autoStart began a new login while the refetch was still in flight. Both panels did it, and it was pre-existing on master. Both reads now refuse the cache, so the resume works and the removal is safe because of it. Removing the button also stranded the chain behind it: handleCancel in both panels, the onCancel prop on AdapterLoginPanel, and the wizard's wiring. The panel chrome's own Cancel is untouched. An abandoned login is collected on a five-minute timer (DEVICE_LOGIN_TIMEOUT_MS) with the reaper as the restart-safe backstop, and the lease is keyed on adapterType, so a source switch does not contend. Both covered by tests. |

fix(ui): show continuation actions in confirmation receipts (#12939)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Task interactions let an operator approve completion or ask an agent to continue. > - The server stores the continue choice as a rejected completion request so it can resume the same task. > - The task feed ignored the configured action label and showed the generic text `Declined request`. > - The generic text made a successful three-turn continuation look like a failed request. > - This pull request keeps the server state and shows the action that the operator selected. > - The benefit is an accurate task feed for legacy Codex and Runner Codex. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What happened?** A rejected confirmation always appeared as `Declined request`. The feed did not use a custom rejection action such as `Continue work`. **Expected behavior** The resolved receipt and success toast must show the selected custom action. Confirmations without a custom action must keep the current fallback text. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Create a completion confirmation with `rejectLabel` set to `Continue work`. 2. Select `Continue work` and enter a continuation note. 3. Open the completed task feed. 4. Observe that the old UI says `Declined request` instead of the selected action. **Paperclip version or commit** `539c9212f4b98e37643f5a8e3b603f1b5845b5d7` **Deployment mode** GitHub Actions Runner E2E with warm Daytona sandboxes. ## What Changed - Show `Selected “Continue work”` when a rejected confirmation has that custom action label. - Use the same action-aware text in the success toast. - Keep `Declined request` as the fallback for confirmations without a custom rejection label. - Make the legacy warm-turn prompt ask if the task is ready to complete. - Require both warm Daytona matrix cells to show two continuation receipts and no generic decline receipt. ## Verification - `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/pages/IssueDetail.test.tsx ui/src/lib/issue-thread-interactions.test.ts ui/src/components/task-chat/TaskChatInteractionCard.test.tsx` - `pnpm test:e2e:runner:unit` - `pnpm test:e2e:runner:typecheck` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` - `pnpm check:token-gates` - Paid `daytona-warm-continuity` campaign: both three-turn cells passed on attempt 1 ([workflow run](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/34052047946)); the downloaded evidence aggregates locally as 2/2. The trusted report job did not publish because default branch `pnpm-lock.yaml` was transiently behind its manifest. - `pnpm typecheck` reached an unrelated `plugin-workspace-diff` dependency type error after the current master manifest and lockfile resolved different versions. The focused UI and runner checks pass. ## Risks - Low risk. The database state and continuation behavior do not change. - A custom rejection label now appears in resolved receipts and success toasts. - The paid warm Daytona suite has a stricter browser assertion. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex, GPT-5, with reasoning, tool use, and code execution. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used with version and capability details - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either linked existing issues or described the issue in this PR with the bug template fields - [x] I have not referenced internal or instance-local Paperclip issues or links - [x] My branch name describes the change and contains no internal task identifier - [x] I have run focused tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated the relevant E2E fixture and assertions - [x] I have considered and documented the risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge |

fix(onboarding): keep the pasted code on screen, and make the auto-copy real (#12921)
The Claude card cleared its field the instant the paste was submitted, so the code appeared and vanished in the same breath and the seconds that followed had no feedback at all - it read as the paste having been dropped. The code stays now; the field is disabled and the step's button carries the status. Scoped to the onboarding chrome: the panel in the agent form stays open long after its login and has its own status area, so clearing is still right there. The OpenAI card's auto-copy took its latch before the attempt rather than on success, so the first refusal was permanent - and the first attempt is the one most likely to be refused, since it fires while the card is still arriving. It also ran with an empty code on the paths where the row renders before the server's one-time prompt has a value, which wrote nothing and then said Copied! over whatever the clipboard already held. It now waits for the document to have focus, retries when focus returns, guards against a second attempt while one is in flight, and only latches once a write has actually landed. The arc's question is a quarter larger, 36px to 45px, as a token with its own leading. paperclipai/paperclip-cloud#400 moves the signup wizard's matching heading by the same quarter - the two flows are pinned to each other on purpose. |

fix(runner): persist warm Daytona workspaces across turns (#12904)
## Thinking Path > - Daytona preserves a stopped sandbox filesystem, but deleting or replacing a sandbox removes its only remote copy. > - Warm reuse therefore improves latency but cannot be Paperclip's durability boundary. > - The host execution workspace must remain authoritative after every successful turn, while same-run recovery must avoid overwriting unexported remote work. > - Result proposal, workspace export/merge, and terminal completion need a durable, replayable ordering so a crash never starts a duplicate provider turn. > - A paid browser acceptance suite must exercise both legacy Codex and Runner Codex for three real turns on one continuously warm Daytona sandbox. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #12901. Runner Codex did not previously export successful Daytona workspace changes back to the authoritative host workspace. That made warm reuse depend on Daytona's remote filesystem and left deleted/replacement sandboxes without a reliable reconstruction path. The existing paid fixture also lacked a focused three-turn continuity case for both Codex adapters. ## What Changed - Persist versioned, atomic native workspace-sync descriptors and durable seeds in `PAPERCLIP_HOME`, without credentials or a database migration. - Classify fresh, warm, replacement, and same-run-recovery workspace preparation explicitly; ambiguous lease/root/digest evidence fails closed. - Finalize native workspace export/merge after semantic result proposal and before run completion, with idempotent replay that never submits a second provider turn. - Surface legacy Codex workspace restoration failures instead of masking them, while preserving an earlier provider error when both fail. - Keep healthy reusable Daytona leases warm for legacy and native adapters, stamp finalized workspace generations, and retain existing cleanup behavior for per-turn or unhealthy leases. - Preserve Runner Codex's provider process/session across warm turns, including bounded post-terminal tail draining and exact authority rotation. - Add the exact paid `daytona-warm-continuity` matrix: - `legacy-codex × daytona × warm-three-turn` - `runner-codex × daytona × warm-three-turn` - Drive all three turns through the browser, verify ordered file continuity and stable lease/workspace/runtime identities, capture per-turn timings, and delete the sandbox immediately after assertions. - Document `pnpm test:e2e:runner -- --suite daytona-warm-continuity`; no package script was added. ## Verification - `pnpm typecheck` — passed, including migration safety (no migration added) - Focused server/runner Vitest coverage — 144 passed - `pnpm test:e2e:runner:unit` — 114 passed - `pnpm test:e2e:runner:typecheck` — passed - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/paperclip-runner test:codex` — 66 passed, 1 helper ignored - `native-session-executor.test.ts` — 139 passed, including safe fail-closed cleanup after remote runner identity capture failure - Paid local browser acceptance, exact post-rebase Linux/amd64 runner binary: - Runner Codex — passed in 1.7m; 3 runs; lease outcomes `created, resumed, resumed`; 10/10 matchers; cleanup passed - Legacy Codex — passed in 2.7m; 3 runs; lease outcomes `created, resumed, resumed`; 10/10 matchers; cleanup passed - [Protected paid GitHub Actions campaign](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/34026735033) against `7da42a91b95fa7fb2df126668ef7e37afb3b2b9d` — passed 2/2: - Runner Codex — 3 runs; lease outcomes `created, resumed, resumed`; evidence and cleanup passed - Legacy Codex — 3 runs; lease outcomes `created, resumed, resumed`; evidence and cleanup passed - Merge/enforcement, S3 history, and Pages publication jobs passed - Paid result artifacts were scanned for both provider credentials; neither secret was present. - Current PR checks — 31 passed, 1 expected Storybook skip; Greptile 5/5; Superagent security scan passed - `git diff --check origin/master...HEAD` — passed - Confirmed no `package.json`, lockfile, migration, or SQL changes. ## Risks - Workspace synchronization now sits on the terminal-success path, so a remote export failure deliberately prevents false success. Retryable state retains its lease/seed; loss of the only unexported remote copy fails closed. - Warm provider reuse has strict identity and quiescence checks. Mismatched or ambiguous evidence blocks reuse rather than risking concurrent provider work. - The paid suite incurs Daytona and Codex cost only in the existing protected scheduled/manual workflow and explicitly destroys its sandbox after each cell. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex with GPT-5 agentic reasoning, repository inspection, real browser E2E execution, Rust/TypeScript test execution, and GitHub Actions diagnostics. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either linked an existing issue or described the issue in-PR - [x] I have not referenced internal/instance-local Paperclip issues or links - [x] My branch name contains no internal ticket id - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have documented the dedicated suite invocation without adding a package script - [x] I have considered and documented risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green on the current revision - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups on the current revision - [x] I will address all reviewer comments before requesting merge |

fix(onboarding): hide the probe's diagnostics while the hire is in flight (#12902)
After a successful sign-in, a block of amber diagnostics flashed up and vanished as the step advanced. They are the identity and target INFO checks every environment test reports: they make the result a warn without blocking anything, and the step rendered any non-pass result, so they owned the screen for the window between the probe returning and setStep(5). Gated on loading rather than the connect phase. A blocking result stops the hire and handleGiveHeartbeat clears loading in the finally after its early return, so a genuine block still shows its checks while a hire in flight shows none. The button needed no change: step 4 forces the footer's loading to false and takes its label from connectCta, which reads Connecting for that whole window. |

feat(agent-login): resume an active login session and permit concurrent login terminals (#12861)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Agent authentication uses server sessions, plugin workers, and browser login panels. > - A page reload loses an active login session, and one worker permits only one login terminal. > - These limits cause lost work and prevent two owners from logging in through one worker. > - This pull request lets the browser resume active sessions and lets workers serve concurrent login terminals. > - The benefit is reliable login recovery with a bounded process-wide route limit. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What existing behavior does this improve?** It improves agent credential login recovery and concurrent login terminal handling. **Subsystem affected** Cross-cutting (multiple of the above). **Current behavior** A page reload loses the active login session. A shared plugin worker rejects a second login terminal. **Proposed behavior** The browser reads and resumes the owner's active session. A worker supports multiple login terminal routes under a process-wide ceiling. **Reason and benefit** Owners keep login progress after a reload. Two owners can log in through one worker without removing the route limit. **Breaking changes** None. The change adds owner-scoped read routes and changes login terminal concurrency. ## What Changed - Replace the single worker login route with maps keyed by host route and worker session identifiers. - Add a process-wide login route ceiling and release each reserved slot on every exit path. - Add owner-scoped active-session reads with consistent negative responses and private cache control. - Keep the device-login prompt while the session has an active public status. - Add a durable setup-token cancel fallback for a lost in-memory session. - Resume active sessions when the agent configuration or onboarding panel mounts. - Remove routine unmount cancellation and keep explicit Cancel behavior. ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclip/server test` — server route, service, and plugin-worker-manager suites. - `pnpm --filter @paperclip/plugin-sdk test` — worker RPC host suite. - `cd ui && npx vitest run src/components/AgentConfigForm.render.test.tsx src/components/OnboardingWizard.test.tsx`. - `cd ui && npx tsc -b`. - `tests/e2e/onboarding.spec.ts` — reload during login. - CI must pass on this pull request. ## Risks The change affects agent authentication and the sandbox-to-host boundary. Route cleanup must release every reserved slot. Owner checks must prevent cross-owner session access. Tests cover route cleanup, owner scope, reload recovery, and concurrent worker routes. ## Model Used Codex, OpenAI GPT-5, tool use and code review support. The implementation author owns the exact model details for the code changes. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have described the issue in-PR with the relevant issue-template fields - [x] I have not referenced internal/instance-local Paperclip issues or links - [x] My branch name describes the change and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

refactor(onboarding): reconcile the arc column's width comment with its width (#12875)
The shell carried two comments arguing opposite things: the older made the case for a 64px inset and said 40px was too wide, the newer made the case for the 40px the code uses. The older one had also drifted from the code independently - it described 68px sides and a 424px column while the file used --sz-64px, a 432px column. One comment now: 40px sides, a 480px column, the measure the connect sequence is drawn to and which the arc shares. The earlier objection is kept and marked untested, with a note that if step 1 or step 3 reads loose the fix belongs in those steps' content rather than the shared shell. Comment-only; no behaviour change. |

feat(onboarding): the connect step's sign-in as one continuous sequence (#12863)
Picking a source starts the sign-in: the row collapses to the answer, the card opens where the credential link was, and the footer button walks Sign in -> Waiting for code -> Connecting before the step advances. Back unwinds it a beat at a time. Nothing mounts to change layout - the card and the link are always rendered and their heights animate, with inert holding the a11y line - because a mount changes the page in one frame and no easing can smooth a step already taken. Review fixes in the same branch: the displayed-code panel now reports its prompt upward (the OpenAI path could not leave the loading beat without it), the two-second hold is a cancellable beat rather than a dropped timer, unwinding a sequence that never opened a card no longer starts a login to cancel it, and the key field regains focus-on-open. |

feat(ui): refine core navigation and task detail (#12854)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The main navigation and task detail view are core operator surfaces. > - Several controls used different hover states, popover layouts, and spacing rules. > - Recent task actions also needed a compact menu and correct inbox archive behavior. > - These differences made the interface feel inconsistent and caused some content to look crowded or clipped. > - This pull request aligns these surfaces with the Paperclip design tokens and current interaction patterns. > - The benefit is a simpler and more consistent operator experience in light and dark modes. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What happened?** Profile and organization popovers used inconsistent layouts. Navigation controls used different hover and selected backgrounds. Task warnings and the composer could crowd nearby content. Archiving a recent task could also remove it from more than the inbox. **Expected behavior** Popover menus should use the same compact visual language. Navigation controls should share readable hover and selected tokens. Task detail content should keep consistent spacing. Archiving should hide a task from the inbox while keeping it in the task list. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Open the main sidebar in light or dark mode. 2. Open the profile and organization menus. 3. Hover navigation items, the organization trigger, the profile trigger, and the feedback flag. 4. Open a task with a warning banner and a long thread. 5. Use the recent task overflow menu and archive a task. **Paperclip version or commit** Reproduced on `master` before this branch. **Deployment mode** Local dev (`pnpm dev`). ## What Changed - Rebuilt the profile and organization popovers with compact token-based layouts. - Matched organization popover width and alignment to the profile popover. - Unified sidebar hover and selected states in light and dark modes. - Added a recent task overflow menu with rename, archive, and pause or restart actions. - Kept archived tasks in the task list while removing them from the inbox. - Improved warning banner and composer spacing in task detail views. - Added and updated focused UI tests for the changed behavior. ## Verification - `pnpm check:token-gates` passed. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` passed. - The seven affected UI test files passed with 216 tests. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` passed. - GitHub CI passed the full build, typecheck and release registry, general test, serialized server, canary dry-run, and end-to-end matrices. - Greptile reviewed commit `6e296be85` at 5/5 with no outstanding actionable findings. ## Risks - Risk is limited to sidebar presentation, recent task actions, and task detail layout. - The recent task archive action now follows inbox-only archive semantics. - No database schema or public API contract changed. > I checked [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md). This pull request does not duplicate planned core work. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex, GPT-5.6. The model used high reasoning, tool use, and code execution. The context window size was not exposed. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes: #` / `Closes #` / `Refs #` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal/instance-local Paperclip issues or links (only public GitHub `#NNN` / `github.com/paperclipai/paperclip` URLs) - [x] My branch name describes the change (e.g. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Scott Tong <scott@scottsmbpm5max.lan> Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

feat(codex): add GPT-6 Astra support (#12851)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app that people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The Codex local adapter supplies model metadata to the server and the user interface. > - OpenAI now lists `gpt-6-astra` as a supported Codex model. > - Paperclip did not list this model or its model-specific controls. > - This pull request adds the model through the existing adapter metadata path. > - The benefit is that agents and task overrides can use the exact model ID and supported controls. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **Subsystem affected** `packages/adapters` and `ui` **Problem or motivation** Paperclip does not expose `gpt-6-astra` in Codex model selectors. Operators cannot select and save the model through the normal agent and task forms. **Proposed solution** Register the exact model ID in the Codex local adapter. Use the adapter as the source for the model-specific reasoning options. Preserve the current default model. Forward the saved model, reasoning effort, and fast-mode controls through both Codex execution lanes. **Alternatives considered** A user-interface-only model list would duplicate adapter metadata. A model alias would not match the official model ID. Both options were rejected. **Roadmap alignment** This is a small adapter compatibility update. It does not duplicate a planned item in `ROADMAP.md`. ## What Changed - Added `gpt-6-astra` to the Codex local adapter model registry and fast-mode support list. - Added the official Astra reasoning efforts: `low`, `medium`, `high`, `xhigh`, `max`, and `ultra`. - Used the adapter metadata in agent and task model selectors. - Preserved supported effort choices when the model changes. Cleared an effort only when the new model does not support it. - Added tests for registration, user-interface selection, configuration persistence, and CLI and ACP forwarding. ## Verification - `pnpm exec vitest run packages/adapters/codex-local/src/index.test.ts packages/adapters/codex-local/src/server/acp.test.ts packages/adapters/codex-local/src/server/codex-args.test.ts packages/adapters/codex-local/src/ui/build-config.test.ts ui/src/lib/codex-reasoning-effort.test.ts ui/src/components/AgentConfigForm.render.test.tsx ui/src/components/IssueProperties.test.tsx ui/src/components/NewIssueDialog.test.tsx ui/src/lib/issue-assignee-overrides.test.ts` passed 245 tests. - `pnpm -r typecheck` passed. - `pnpm check:token-gates` passed all four gates across 939 files. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` passed and supplied isolated user-interface build proof. - `pnpm build` passed. - `pnpm test:run` passed 5,812 tests and failed 24 workspace-runtime tests in this isolated host. The failures use invalid generated ports above 65,535, incomplete nested-worktree fixture configuration, or `/tmp` path aliases. The focused tests for this change all pass. GitHub CI must pass before review handoff. - GitHub CI run `33918372718` passed all required checks and the aggregate verify gate on exact head `6ac6be2cee0a5996c82bdf674fcb7f46cb4c5fde`. - Independent engineering review approved the exact remediation head after 170/170 reviewer tests passed. - Greptile reported 5/5 with no open review threads on exact head `6ac6be2cee0a5996c82bdf674fcb7f46cb4c5fde`. - The model ID and capabilities were checked against the [official OpenAI Codex model list](https://developers.openai.com/codex/models). ## Risks - Low risk. The change adds one model and model-specific selector options. It does not change the default model. - OpenAI can change model capabilities later. The adapter metadata must stay aligned with the official Codex metadata. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex with model ID `gpt-5.6-sol`, a 272,000-token context window, reasoning, tool use, and code execution. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

fix(ui): stabilize active-run steering queue (#12834)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The issue detail page shows a live agent run and accepts follow-up instructions. > - A follow-up must stay in a stable queue until the user sends, reorders, or removes it. > - Native runners can receive a steering event in the active run. > - Legacy runners must interrupt the active run and start a follow-up run. > - The current UI moved comments between the queue and the transcript and could show duplicate text or ambiguous chronology. > - This pull request makes the queue projection durable, keeps each message in one clear place, and labels when queued input was actually steered or delivered. > - The benefit is predictable steering with stable ordering, no duplicate messages, and visible causal timing. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #11374. Refs #12591. **What happened?** During an active run, a new follow-up could first appear as a transcript bubble and then move into the steering queue. After a steer or remove action, it could appear again. Progress text could also repeat the final response text. Once consumed, a queued bubble displayed only its original submission time even though it moved to its later causal slot, and a native run split by steering looked like two unrelated runs. **Expected behavior** An active-run follow-up must appear in the queue immediately. A native steer must move it once into the active run. A legacy interrupt must move it once into the follow-up run. A removed item must stay removed. Progress text that is identical to the final response must appear once. Consumed follow-ups must show both queue and steer/delivery times, and post-steer native segments must identify themselves as continuations of the same run. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Start a long-running task. 2. Send two or more follow-up messages while the agent is active. 3. Reorder the messages and remove one message. 4. Send the first queued message as steering. 5. Observe the queue and transcript during and after both runs. **Paperclip version or commit** The problem reproduced on commit `da1e40302`. **Deployment mode** Local development with the embedded database. ## What Changed - Project queued comments into the steering well for native and legacy live runners. - Send native steering to the active run and use interrupt-and-follow-up for legacy runners. - Keep optimistic queue order stable across refreshes and roll back failed actions. - Remove discarded comments from the transcript cache and keep them removed when the queue becomes empty. - Collapse only the final progress occurrence matching the durable response, including across steered transcript segments. - Show `Queued … · Steered …` for same-run input and `Queued … · Delivered …` for successor-run input at their causal positions. - Label settled and live post-steer segments `Continued after steering` and time them from the steer boundary. - Add regression tests for queue display, steering, fallback interrupt, reorder, remove, rollback, duplicate text, causal timestamps, and live/settled continuation headers. ## Verification - Ran the final focused steering/chronology UI suite with 233 passing tests. - Ran the activity-service regression suite with 5 passing tests. - Ran the broader queue-focused UI suite with 298 passing tests before the final chronology refinement. - Ran `pnpm -r typecheck` successfully. - Ran `pnpm build` successfully. - Ran `pnpm check:token-gates` successfully. - Tested native steering in a real browser with a 90-second baseline wait and a three-second steering correction. - Confirmed that the old final response did not appear before the steered response. - Tested three queued messages in a real browser. - Confirmed that reorder changed delivery order and that the removed message was never sent or shown again. - Tested a legacy runner in a real browser. - Confirmed that it used the interrupt fallback and showed the follow-up once. - Reloaded a saved mixed-steer/successor-run thread and confirmed the causal timestamps and continuation header render in the correct positions. - The complete macOS suite reaches five unrelated platform assertions in workspace-runtime tests. Two compare `/var` with `/private/var`. Three require Linux `/proc` listener data. GitHub Actions provides the authoritative Linux run. ## Risks - Low risk. The change is limited to issue-chat queue projection and transcript presentation. - The server run-history API adds only a read-only `contextIssueId` projection; the database schema does not change. - Optimistic actions restore the prior UI state when a request fails. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex with GPT-5, extended reasoning, browser automation, shell tools, and code execution. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

fix(runner): repair paid provider startup paths (#12769)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip manages AI agents that perform work. > - Paperclip Runner connects durable task runs to local provider processes. > - The full-stack paid matrix exposed failures after the runner integrity repair. > - Verified JavaScript entrypoints lost their relative module graph when Linux executed them through descriptor paths. > - Returned provider startup errors also remained pending and became indeterminate after recovery. > - Sparse Codex tool lifecycle events lost the `write_document` identity before task transcript projection. > - This pull request repairs those three boundaries and makes the structured-question fixture deterministic. > - The benefit is repeatable provider startup, exact failure replay, and correct inline Plan placement. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #12721 and #12700. **What happened?** The paid runner matrix failed ACPX and OpenCode startup before provider session creation. The runner journal then replaced the original startup error with an indeterminate recovery result. Native Codex saved a Plan but rendered it only as a fallback card. A legacy Claude waiting reply could also echo the reserved terminal marker before the answer arrived. **Expected behavior** Verified JavaScript providers must start from immutable descriptor-backed artifacts. Returned startup failures must persist as terminal failed command results. Native tool lifecycle updates must preserve the `write_document` boundary. Pre-answer fixture output must not contain the reserved terminal marker. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Run the local provider cells in the Runner Full-Stack E2E workflow. 2. Observe ACPX and OpenCode fail during `session.open` before provider execution. 3. Observe recovery report `execution_indeterminate` instead of the original startup error. 4. Run the native Codex Plan cell and observe the fallback Plan card after the tool activity row. 5. Run the legacy Claude structured-question resume cell and observe an early marker echo in waiting prose. **Paperclip version or commit** `0f9452101740835ce0b1488a204bf48acd5bafc3` **Deployment mode** Local development with the paid GitHub Actions acceptance workflow. ## What Changed - Bundle the ACPX sidecar and OpenCode proxy as self-contained Node ESM entrypoints before hashing and verified descriptor launch. - Anchor ACPX dynamic provider package resolution at a controller-derived provider-pack root and keep that root out of the provider child environment. - Persist executor-returned startup errors as redacted durable failed command results while retaining indeterminate recovery for true process death. - Coalesce sparse native tool items by stable ID so a late `write_document` name, input, and result reach the transcript boundary once. - Forbid the structured-question fixture from spelling or announcing its reserved terminal marker before the user answers. ## Verification - Rust and TypeScript regression tests cover durable failed replay, true crash ambiguity, bundle closure, package-root derivation, environment filtering, exact Codex tool lifecycle coalescing, and prompt determinism. - Local execution is intentionally limited to formatters and static diff checks. GitHub Actions will run tests, type checks, builds, and security checks. - After ordinary CI is green, scoped paid cells will validate one ACPX launch, one OpenCode launch, native Codex Plan projection, and legacy Claude structured resume before a complete matrix rerun. - Prior failing matrix: https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/33682434315 ## Risks - Bundling changes the bytes covered by provider launch hashes. Provider-pack generation already hashes the final built files. - ACPX still loads qualified provider packages dynamically. The controller supplies a normalized package root, while existing version, digest, path, and descriptor checks remain active. - Durable `failed` is terminal. Replays return the same redacted result and do not execute the provider effect twice. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex based on GPT-5 with agentic reasoning, repository inspection, code editing, Git, parallel subagents, and GitHub Actions coordination. The exact deployed snapshot and context-window size are not exposed to this task. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either linked related public work or described the bug in this PR - [x] I have not referenced internal or instance-local Paperclip issues or links - [x] My branch name describes the change and contains no internal ticket id - [ ] I have run tests locally and they pass (intentionally deferred to GitHub Actions) - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] No documentation change is required for this runtime repair - [x] I have considered and documented the risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge |

feat(onboarding): the API key field is the same card as the sign-in (#12820)
Flipping "Use API key instead" changed the shape of the connect step rather than its content: #12801 redrew the sign-in as a borderless 12px-radius card with 44px rows, and the key field stayed a bordered `rounded-md` box with a 28px control tucked to the right. Two visual languages in one canvas, one toggle apart. The field's own note already argued against exactly that — the two are alternatives to one question and have to read as two answers, not two kinds of thing. The reasoning held; only its target moved, and matching by restating measurements is what let it drift. It composes `OnboardingLoginCard` and the shared row input now, so there is nothing left to keep in sync. The environment variable takes the slot the sign-in cards use for their sentence, in mono, still answering what a paster cannot answer for themselves: where this step will put the key. Supporting changes: `instruction` widens to `ReactNode`, and the row input's classes move to an exported `onboardingCardInputClass`. The tests pin the sharing rather than the appearance — the two inputs carry the byte-identical class string, and the key field's shell is the same element the sign-in renders. Both fail against the old bordered box. |

feat(ui): viewer=full document deep link opens the maximized side pane (#12812)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - Agents ask humans for decisions through approval cards, and a chat gateway plugin can forward those cards to Slack with an "Open task" button > - The button opens the bare task page; to read the document under approval, the reviewer must click four more times (open the side pane, open the Artifacts tab, open the artifact, maximize the pane) > - Approvals are the highest-frequency human touchpoint, so each removed click matters > - This pull request adds a `viewer=full` option to the existing `#document-<key>` deep link; the link now opens the target document and maximizes the side pane > - The benefit is one-click access from an external notification to a full-size reading surface for the document under approval ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What existing behavior does this improve?** The issue page already supports `#document-<key>` deep links. They open the document in the side pane, but at the pane's default width. **Current behavior** An external link cannot request the maximized (full-size) document view. A reviewer who follows an approval notification must maximize the pane by hand each time. **Proposed behavior** `#document-<key>&viewer=full` opens the document and maximizes the side pane. Plan documents open in the Plan tab, maximized. Mobile keeps the full-screen sheet. Unknown `viewer` values are ignored, so old links and new links stay compatible in both directions. **Reason and benefit** Chat notifications about approvals can now land the reviewer directly on a full-size view of the document they must read. This removes four clicks from every approval review. **Breaking changes** None. The parameter is optional and additive. Links without it keep today's behavior. ## What Changed - `ui/src/lib/document-annotation-hash.ts`: parse and build an optional `viewer=full` parameter in document hashes. - `ui/src/lib/issue-document-deep-link.ts`: thread a `maximize` flag on properties-pane routes; the continuation-summary route is unchanged. - `ui/src/context/PanelContext.tsx`: add a one-shot panel maximize request (`requestPanelMaximize` / `clearPanelMaximizeRequest`). - `ui/src/components/PropertiesPanel.tsx`: the resizable panel host consumes a pending request once it is visible and laid out, then clears it. - `ui/src/pages/IssueDetail.tsx`: request the maximize on the desktop deep-link path only; mobile keeps the sheet. - Tests for all of the above. ## Verification - `cd ui && pnpm typecheck` — clean. - `cd ui && pnpm vitest run src/lib/document-annotation-hash.test.ts src/lib/issue-document-deep-link.test.ts src/components/PropertiesPanel.test.tsx` — 31/31 green. - New cases cover: `viewer` parse/build round trip, unknown values ignored, maximize routing for document and plan tabs, a pending request consumed on mount, and a request held while the panel is hidden. - Manual check: open an issue with `#document-<key>&viewer=full` in the URL; the pane opens on that document, maximized. Remove the parameter; the pane opens at its normal width. ## Risks - Low risk. The parameter is optional; no data, schema, or API changes. - The maximize request lives in React context as a one-shot flag. It is cleared on first consumption, so a stale request cannot re-maximize the pane on later navigations. - If a link carries `viewer=full` on a web build older than this change, the parameter is ignored and the document still opens. ## Model Used - Claude Fable 5 (`claude-fable-5`), Anthropic. Agentic coding session with extended thinking and tool use (file edits, shell, test runs). ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes: #` / `Closes #` / `Refs #` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal/instance-local Paperclip issues or links (only public GitHub `#NNN` / `github.com/paperclipai/paperclip` URLs) - [ ] My branch name describes the change (e.g. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(ui): remove the Account badge and version line from the account menu (#12818)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - The web UI has a sidebar account menu that opens from the user's name in the lower left > - The menu header shows an "Account"/"Local" badge and a "Paperclip <sha>" (or "Paperclip v<version>") build line next to the user's identity > - These labels add noise to the header and repeat information that is available elsewhere: the email line already shows the sign-in state, and the opt-in "Server" debug section in the same menu shows the running commit > - This pull request removes the badge and the build line so the header shows only the user's name and email > - The benefit is a cleaner account menu that shows only identity information ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No existing issue. Related: #9637 (closed) added the source-sha rendering that this PR removes from the menu header. Description follows the enhancement template: **What existing behavior does this improve?** The sidebar account menu popover. Its header shows the user's name, an "Account" or "Local" badge, the email, and a build identifier line ("Paperclip <short sha>" with branch/commit links for source builds, or "Paperclip v<version>" for release builds). **Current behavior** The popover header mixes identity information with deployment and build metadata. The badge and the version line take space and do not help daily use. **Proposed behavior** The popover header shows only the user's name and email. Build information stays available in the "Server" section at the bottom of the same menu when the server-info debug view is enabled in experimental instance settings. **Reason and benefit** Less visual noise in a menu that users open often. No information is lost: sign-in state is clear from the email line, and the running commit remains visible through the server-info debug view. **Breaking changes** None. The `SidebarAccountMenu` components no longer accept the `serverGit` and `version` props; both call sites in the two `Layout` variants are updated in this PR. ## What Changed - `ui/src/components/SidebarAccountMenu.tsx` and `SidebarAccountMenu.production.tsx`: remove the "Account"/"Local" badge and the full version block (source-build branch/commit links and the release-version fallback); drop the now-unused `serverGit`/`version` props, the sha-parsing helper, and the `Badge` import - `ui/src/components/Layout.tsx` and `Layout.production.tsx`: stop passing the removed props at all four call sites - `ui/src/components/SidebarAccountMenu.test.tsx`: delete the source-build sha test; the sign-out test now pins that the popover contains neither "Account" nor "Paperclip v" - `ui/storybook/stories/navigation-layout.stories.tsx`: stop passing the removed `version` prop in the account-menu story ## Verification - `pnpm vitest run ui/src/components/SidebarAccountMenu.test.tsx ui/src/components/Layout.test.tsx` — 36 tests pass - `tsc --noEmit` for the `ui` package passes - Manual: open the app, click your name in the lower left. The popover header shows only name and email. ## Risks - Low risk. UI-only removal with no data or API changes. - Users who relied on the header sha to identify a source build must enable the experimental server-info debug view to see the running commit in the same menu. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used - Claude (Anthropic), Claude Fable 5, model ID `claude-fable-5`, extended thinking enabled, via Claude Code CLI with tool use (file edit, shell, test runner) ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes: #` / `Closes #` / `Refs #` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal/instance-local Paperclip issues or links (only public GitHub `#NNN` / `github.com/paperclipai/paperclip` URLs) - [x] My branch name describes the change (e.g. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge |

feat(onboarding): the connect step signs in from its own button (#12801)
Connect starts the sign-in; the card that appears is the sign-in rather than an offer of one; success advances to Review rather than reporting itself. The two logins end in different places and the button says which: Claude submits a code back here, so it spins on "Connecting"; OpenAI finishes in another tab, so it stays a still, disabled Next until the poll lands. AdapterLoginPanel grows autoStart / onCancel / onConnected / chrome rather than a second implementation — the session start, both polls, the server deadline, the one-shot completion read and the unmount release are the parts onboarding needs unchanged. Every prop is off by default, so the agent form and the new-agent page render what they did before. Claude's code auto-submits on the paste, not on every change: isValidBrowserCode accepts any printable ASCII from one character up, so a value-driven submit fired on the first keystroke of anyone who typed. Also orders the OpenAI card and the settings displayed-code panel code-above-link, with the instruction worded to match, and releases the displayed-code session on unmount so an abandoned login stops holding the one-per-owner reservation. |

feat(onboarding): round-4 corrections to the connect and agent steps (#12796)
Reads the connect and agent steps from the design's own values through the Figma MCP rather than measuring an export, which corrected the arc column inset (433px content, 64px inset — `--sz-68px` goes with the mismeasurement it was minted for) and restored the selected tile's border alongside its fill. Round-4 items: sources named for the provider you sign in with, OpenAI's mark inlined so it can take `currentColor` on a light tile, monochrome autofill via `box-shadow` (Chrome ignores `background-color`), and the agent step's placeholder. Also wires `MODEL_SOURCE_NAMES`, which was added for the rename and never read — the tiles kept passing the display registry's label, so the step still showed "Claude Code" and "Codex" under a heading asking which provider you are signing in to. Covered by a test that fails on the unwired version. |

feat(apps): unify permissions and action testing (#12802)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the control plane for companies that use AI agents. > - Apps give humans and agents controlled access to external services. > - The existing app detail flow split permissions, tests, setup, and activity across separate pages. > - The split made access rules harder to understand and made reconnect work hard to find. > - New write actions also defaulted to Ask first, which did not match the intended connection policy. > - This pull request combines permission control and action testing, removes the setup page, and moves connection activity into Audit. > - The benefit is one clear place to configure, test, reconnect, and review each app. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What existing behavior does this improve?** The installed app Permissions, Test, Setup, and Activity views. **Subsystem affected** Cross-cutting. This change updates the React UI, shared app defaults, server permission behavior, tests, smoke scripts, and connection documentation. **Current behavior** App access and action testing use separate pages. The app detail view also links to a setup page after installation. Connection activity uses a separate tab. New write actions default to Ask first. **Proposed behavior** Permissions uses the connection access language from the initial flow. It includes searchable Read and Write sections, a three-state permission control, and a Test dialog for each action. Reconnect appears below a Needs attention header on Permissions and Review. Old Setup and Test links redirect to Permissions. Old Activity links redirect to the filtered company Audit feed. New write actions default to Allowed. **Reason and benefit** A person can understand and test app access without moving between several pages. Reconnect work stays visible where the person reviews the connection. Audit events use one consistent feed and filter model. New connections have the intended default policy. **Breaking changes** The Setup, Test, and app Activity tabs are removed. Existing deep links redirect to their replacement pages. Existing saved action permissions do not change. Only defaults for new write actions change. **Additional context** This builds on the managed app connection work in #12728. A search found no duplicate open pull request or issue. ## What Changed - Combined action testing with Permissions. - Added searchable Read and Write action groups. - Added Off, Ask first, and Allowed controls with tooltips. - Added an action Test dialog with agent selection, arguments, and formatted results. - Removed the installed-app Setup and Activity tabs. - Added reconnect guidance to Permissions and Review when a connection needs attention. - Routed connection activity into the company Audit feed and preserved the Apps & tools filter in streamlined Audit. - Moved connection removal to the Connectors-page management menu. - Made new write actions default to Allowed across connection creation paths. - Updated regression tests, browser suites, smoke scripts, and connection documentation. ## Verification - `pnpm check:token-gates` - `pnpm exec vitest run packages/shared/src/app-definitions.test.ts server/src/__tests__/generic-mcp-connection.test.ts server/src/__tests__/tool-access-service.test.ts ui/src/components/AppConnectionSidebar.test.tsx ui/src/pages/apps/AppDetail.test.tsx ui/src/pages/apps/AppNotConnected.test.tsx ui/src/pages/apps/AppsConnect.test.tsx ui/src/pages/apps/Browse.test.tsx ui/src/pages/apps/Connections.test.tsx ui/src/pages/apps/composio-services.test.ts ui/src/pages/audit/AuditFeed.test.tsx ui/src/pages/tools/PasteConfigTab.test.tsx` (517 tests passed) - `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/pages/apps/app-detail/TestPanel.test.tsx ui/src/pages/audit/AuditHub.test.tsx ui/src/pages/audit/AuditFeed.test.tsx ui/src/pages/apps/AppDetail.test.tsx ui/src/pages/apps/Browse.test.tsx` (96 tests passed) - Targeted Playwright verification for connection removal, rename on Permissions, inline action testing, and Smoke Lab Audit evidence (5 flows passed) - `pnpm -r typecheck` - `pnpm build` - `pnpm test:run` completed with 5,755 passing tests and 20 unrelated macOS harness failures. The failures use `/tmp` versus `/private/tmp`, invalid ports above 65535, and workspace fixtures outside this change. ## Risks - Low migration risk. This change has no database migration. - Old app-detail URLs depend on redirect compatibility. - New connections grant write actions by default. Finalization remains configure-authorized and audited, Ask first and Off remain available per action, and existing connections keep their saved policy. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected - check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, exact model ID `gpt-5`. fix(ui): honor PAPERCLIP_HIDDEN_SETTINGS in the production switcher menu (#12788)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - Operators control which settings surfaces appear via the `PAPERCLIP_HIDDEN_SETTINGS` env var (keys like `company.invites`, `company.members`) > - The sidebar organization switcher has an "Invite people" shortcut that points at the company Invites surface > - The streamlined switcher menu already hides that shortcut when the Invites/Members surface is hidden, but the production-shell menu (rendered when the streamlined UI is disabled) renders the invite row unconditionally > - So an operator that hides the Invites surface still sees the shortcut in the production shell — the hide is not fully honored > - This pull request gates the production menu's invite shortcut on the same hide keys, so `PAPERCLIP_HIDDEN_SETTINGS` controls it in both shells > - The benefit is one consistent, per-deployment knob: a hoster that wants the shortcut gone (e.g. Paperclip Cloud, whose managed stacks set `company.invites`) drops it by setting the env var, and every other hoster keeps it by leaving the key unset ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No existing issue. Description follows the enhancement template: **What existing behavior does this improve?** `PAPERCLIP_HIDDEN_SETTINGS` coverage for the organization switcher's "Invite people" shortcut in the production shell. **Subsystem affected** UI — `ui/src/components/SidebarCompanyMenu.production.tsx`. **Current behavior** The streamlined switcher menu hides the "Invite people" shortcut when `company.invites` or `company.members` is hidden. The production-shell menu renders the invite row unconditionally, so the hide keys have no effect there. **Proposed behavior** The production menu computes `showInvitePeople` from the same hide keys and gates the invite row on it. With no hidden settings (the default) the shortcut still shows; hiding either surface removes it in both shells. **Reason and benefit** This is the per-deployment knob operators already use for the Invites surface. Making the production shell honor it gives one consistent mechanism: Paperclip Cloud drops the shortcut on its managed stacks (which set `company.invites`, because the managed invite accept flow is being overhauled), while other hosters keep it by leaving the key unset — no cloud-specific branching in the app. **Breaking changes** None. Default behavior (no hidden settings) is unchanged; this only makes an existing env var take effect where it previously did not. ## What Changed - `SidebarCompanyMenu.production.tsx` imports `useHiddenSettings` + `hidesCompanyPage`, computes `showInvitePeople` exactly as the streamlined menu does, and renders the invite row only when it is true. - Tests: the production shell shows the shortcut by default and hides it when `company.invites` is hidden. - The streamlined menu is unchanged (it already honored the keys). ## Verification - `cd ui && npx vitest run src/components/SidebarCompanyMenu.test.tsx` — 20 tests pass. - `cd ui && npx tsc -p tsconfig.json --noEmit` — clean. - Manual: with `PAPERCLIP_HIDDEN_SETTINGS=company.invites`, the switcher's "Invite people" row is absent in both the streamlined and production shells; with the key unset it is present in both. ## Risks Low risk. UI-only visibility change; default (no hidden settings) is unchanged, and it only extends an existing, documented env var to a shell that was missing it. ## Model Used Claude Fable 5 (`claude-fable-5`, Anthropic), extended thinking, agentic tool use via Claude Code. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge |

fix(ui): polish core navigation and task layout (#12793)
<!-- Write all pull request text in Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE100): short sentences, one instruction per sentence, simple approved vocabulary, and the active voice. --> ## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Operators use the main navigation, contextual navigation, and task chat throughout the product. > - The recent core UI refactor left uneven spacing and inconsistent navigation styles. > - The Apps label also did not match the Connectors product language. > - The account area did not provide a clear direct path for feedback. > - This pull request aligns these related core UI surfaces and preserves their existing behavior. > - The benefit is a more consistent interface with clearer navigation and balanced task-chat layout. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What existing behavior does this improve?** This improves the core sidebar, Settings navigation, Connectors catalog, task-chat layout, and account controls. **Subsystem affected** `ui/` — React and Vite board UI. **Current behavior** The task chat had uneven edge treatment. Settings used a separate contextual-navigation style. Apps used inconsistent product labels. The account footer did not expose a direct feedback control. **Proposed behavior** The task chat keeps balanced content padding while its scrollbar sits at the properties boundary. Settings replaces the primary sidebar with a matching navigation surface and a Back to app link. Apps uses Connectors and Browse labels. The account footer provides a dedicated feedback icon with a tooltip. **Reason and benefit** These changes make related navigation and layout patterns predictable. They reduce duplicate labels and improve access to feedback. **Breaking changes** None. Routes, APIs, and stored data do not change. ## What Changed - Balanced the task-chat content gutter and moved its scrollbar to the properties-panel boundary. - Reworked Settings navigation to replace the main sidebar and use the shared primary-sidebar style. - Added a Back to app navigation item to Settings. - Renamed Apps to Connectors in the main navigation and added the `Unplug` icon. - Renamed the Connectors contextual item to Browse. - Added the Connectors top-level header and aligned the search field with the connector cards. - Added account-footer hover states and a direct feedback flag with a Share feedback tooltip. - Removed the duplicate Feedback item from the account popover. - Added regression coverage for each changed UI surface. ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui exec vitest run src/components/AppsSidebar.test.tsx src/components/CompanySettingsSidebar.test.tsx src/components/Layout.test.tsx src/components/Sidebar.test.tsx src/components/SidebarAccountMenu.test.tsx src/components/task-chat/TaskMessageScroller.test.tsx src/pages/apps/Browse.test.tsx` — 90 tests passed. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` — passed. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` — passed. - `pnpm check:token-gates` — passed. - `git diff --check origin/master...HEAD` — passed. - `env PAPERCLIP_PLAYWRIGHT_CHANNEL=chrome PAPERCLIP_E2E_PORT=3201 pnpm exec playwright test --config tests/e2e/playwright.config.ts tests/e2e/apps-dark-mode-shots.spec.ts tests/e2e/sidebar-takeover.spec.ts` — 10 tests passed. - The full workspace typecheck and build reached the Rust runner and stopped because `cargo` is not installed on this machine. - The full test suite exposed unrelated server and workspace-runtime failures and was stopped after the affected suites completed. No changed UI test failed. - Manually verified the changed Settings, Connectors, task-chat, and account-menu surfaces in the running app. ## Risks - Low risk. The change affects layout and navigation presentation only. - The Settings sidebar now replaces the main sidebar by design. Users must use Back to app to return to the application navigation. - The task scrollbar offset depends on the existing responsive page gutters. Regression tests cover both narrow and desktop spacing. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. fix(ui): drop the "Open invite" action from the invites section (#12787)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - The Members page has an Invites tab where an admin mints single-use invite links for people > - After a link is created, the section offers two actions: "Copy link" and "Open invite" > - "Open invite" opens the inviter's own single-use link in a new tab, which is never what the inviter means — the link is for the invitee > - This pull request removes the "Open invite" button and keeps "Copy link" as the only action > - The benefit is that the section no longer invites a mistake, and the one remaining action matches the section's purpose ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No existing issue. Description follows the enhancement template: **What existing behavior does this improve?** The latest-invite panel on the Members page Invites tab. **Subsystem affected** UI — `ui/src/components/access/InvitesSection.tsx`. **Current behavior** After an invite is created, the panel shows a "Copy link" button and an "Open invite" button. "Open invite" opens the invite URL in a new tab as the inviter. **Proposed behavior** The panel shows only "Copy link". The invite URL field itself stays visible and selectable. **Reason and benefit** Invite links are single-use and addressed to the invitee. The inviter opening their own link at best shows them their own landing page and at worst walks the link toward consumption. Removing the button removes the trap. **Breaking changes** None. No API or data change. ## What Changed - Removed the "Open invite" anchor button from `InvitesSection`. - Removed the now-unused `ExternalLink` icon import. - The component test now asserts the action is absent. ## Verification - `cd ui && npx vitest run src/components/access/InvitesSection.test.tsx` — 3 tests pass. - `cd ui && npx tsc -p tsconfig.json --noEmit` — clean. - Manual: create an invite on the Members page Invites tab; the latest-invite panel shows the URL field and "Copy link" only. ## Risks Low risk. UI-only removal of one button; the invite URL remains fully visible and copyable. ## Model Used Claude Fable 5 (`claude-fable-5`, Anthropic), extended thinking, agentic tool use via Claude Code. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge |

fix(onboarding): preserve draft through company refetch (#12735)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Onboarding creates an organization in the browser. > - The browser keeps onboarding drafts for the same origin. > - A new data directory does not clear that browser data. > - The organization create request refreshes the company list. > - The old gate unmounted the live wizard during that refresh. > - This pull request keeps the wizard mounted after its first draft check. > - The customer can continue to the agent step after the organization is created. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No matching public issue was found. Related earlier fix: Refs #12667. **What happened?** A local canary install could create an organization through the API and then return the browser to an empty organization-name screen. **Expected behavior** The wizard must continue to the agent step after it creates the organization. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Keep a Paperclip onboarding draft in the browser. 2. Run npx paperclipai@canary onboard with a new data directory. 3. Open /onboarding. 4. Enter an organization name and select Continue. **Paperclip version or commit** 2026.902.0-canary.7. The fix is based on current master. **Deployment mode** Local trusted mode through the Paperclip CLI. **Install method** npx package install. **Agent adapter(s) involved** Not adapter-specific. **Database mode** Embedded PostgreSQL. ## What Changed - Keep the onboarding wizard mounted after its first successful draft ownership check. - Keep a failed ownership check retryable, so a later verified fetch restores the saved draft. - Add component, source E2E, and published-canary coverage for the retained-draft refetch case. ## Verification - Confirmed that the new canary scenario fails against 2026.902.0-canary.7 before this fix. - pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/components/OnboardingWizard.test.tsx - PAPERCLIP_E2E_PORT=3245 pnpm exec playwright test --config tests/e2e/playwright.config.ts tests/e2e/onboarding.spec.ts --reporter=line - pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck - pnpm check:token-gates ## Risks Low risk. The initial ownership check still waits for a fresh company list. A later successful retry can restore a retained draft. Later background refetches preserve live wizard state. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-5. Reasoning, tool use, code editing, terminal execution, and browser testing were used. The execution environment does not expose a context-window size. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used with version and capability details - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have described the issue in-PR following the bug issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal or instance-local Paperclip issues or links - [x] My branch name describes the change and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

fix(runner): restore local session and task integrity (#12721)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the control plane for agents that perform work. > - Paperclip Runner connects durable provider sessions to individual task runs through PRP. > - Provider continuity and per-run authority are different lifetimes. > - The existing implementation mixed those lifetimes and lost event metadata between provider frames, runnerd, persistence, API sanitization, and the task thread. > - That caused failed continuation, missing progress and Plans, duplicate replies, hidden failures, and unsafe recovery. > - This repair gives every heartbeat fresh authority, preserves qualified provider-session continuity, and restores one lossless presentation path without changing direct adapters. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What happened?** A second native heartbeat could reuse tickets, leases, command receipts, sequence state, and run identity from the first heartbeat. Provider phase and item identity could be lost before the UI read them. Redaction could corrupt protocol discriminators while still missing malformed credential tails. The task thread could fold progress into the final response, hide failures, or show more than one final answer. Native Codex also exposed approval modes that do not yet have a durable approval bridge. **Expected behavior** Each heartbeat uses a new PRP authority epoch. Codex and OpenCode preserve exact qualified provider sessions; ACPX emits an explicit continuity event when its qualified process-replacement policy is used. Every accepted provider event is presented, classified as internal, or surfaced as unsupported. The task page shows chronological progress, reasoning summaries, activity, Plans, interactions, terminal failures, and exactly one final reply. Direct adapters retain their existing path. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Enable the unified experimental Paperclip Runner setting. 2. Create a local native Codex, OpenCode, ACPX Claude, or ACPX Codex agent. 3. Run response, Plan, structured-question/resume, restart, cancellation, and failure scenarios. 4. Reload the task while active, waiting, failed, and settled. 5. On the old implementation, observe stale run authority, missing classifications, incomplete output, or duplicated/folded replies. **Paperclip version or commit** The repair is based directly on `master` at `87d05e194b643810d16d20612115acd01d735d43`. **Deployment mode** Local development with the embedded database. Related work: Refs #12616, #12646, #12666, #12685, and #12700. ## What Changed - Rotates PRP control-plane, outbox, ticket, lease, command, receipt, and sequence authority for each heartbeat while carrying forward only a validated provider-session identity. - Reads `control-plane-state.json`, validates both durable schemas and lifecycle values, resumes coherent current runs, archives qualified settled authority, and quarantines malformed or mismatched scoped state without moving ambiguous live legacy state. - Preserves Codex provider phase and stable item identities so commentary remains progress and only `final_answer` becomes final. - Adds raw OpenCode HTTP/SSE boundary coverage and canonical reasoning lifecycle mapping. - Makes ACPX normalization lossless for visible reasoning, tool lifecycle metadata, stable bounded identities, Plan revisions, structured requests, failures, and qualified process replacement. Only the compatible terminal assistant message is promoted as final. - Applies schema-aware redaction before generic JWT-shaped detection and scans every diagnostic string leaf. Malformed raw/escaped quoted credential tails are redacted in both server and durable Rust state. - Restores snapshot-style chronological task presentation, expandable tool activity, inline Plan cards, visible waiting/resume/cancel/failure states, and exactly one final answer. - Makes `never` the only qualified native Codex permission mode and rejects unsupported persisted native modes with remediation. OpenCode and ACPX policies remain intact. - Keeps the unified experimental Runner setting as the only enablement flag. Onboarding and direct Codex, Claude, and OpenCode stay on their legacy execution/finalization paths. - Adds cross-language goldens, authority/recovery/fault coverage, exact response/count assertions, and native plus legacy acceptance scenarios. ## Verification - Pull-request GitHub Actions run Rust formatting/tests, TypeScript checks, server/UI tests, builds, protocol drift checks, browser E2E, and security scans. - A separate workflow-only validation ref is pinned directly on this PR head and runs the 35-cell paid local matrix: three core scenarios plus structured-question resume and restart/resume for native Codex, native OpenCode, ACPX Claude, ACPX Codex, and direct Codex/Claude/OpenCode. Run: https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/33682434315 - Acceptance requires exact single visible replies, monotonic sequences, matching envelope discriminators, one semantic terminal, one run terminal, no unresolved interaction, no duplicate mutation, no secret leakage, provider continuity, and zero native rows for direct adapters. - Per maintainer direction, tests are running in GitHub Actions rather than on the slower local host. Only formatters and static diff checks were run locally. ## Risks - Recovery from old or partial filesystem state is sensitive. The repair fails closed, preserves active or unverifiable authority, and quarantines only state whose scoped ownership is safe to move. - Provider event formats can change. Closed validators and boundary goldens turn new or malformed events into visible diagnostics instead of silent drops. - Shared task presentation could affect direct adapters. Runtime-fact gating plus the direct-adapter matrix protect the existing path. - Managed and remote providers are not qualified here. Shared code continues to compile and fail safely, but live qualification is deferred. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex based on GPT-5. The exact deployed snapshot and context-window size are not exposed to this task. It used agentic reasoning, repository inspection, code editing, Git, parallel subagents, and GitHub Actions. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes: #` / `Closes #` / `Refs #` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal/instance-local Paperclip issues or links (only public GitHub `#NNN` / `github.com/paperclipai/paperclip` URLs) - [x] My branch name describes the change and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id - [ ] I have run tests locally and they pass (intentionally deferred to GitHub Actions) - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [ ] The paid local-provider matrix is green - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge |

feat(work-products): add rich cards and run artifact inventory (#12717)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the control plane for AI-agent companies. > - Agent outputs must remain visible after a run and easy to inspect from a task. > - The thread and artifact inventory need one consistent rich-card vocabulary. > - Run uploads also need durable artifact registration and producing-run context. > - Reviewers need deterministic examples for each rich-card kind and state. > - This pull request adds the shared presentation, registration, inventory, and Storybook review coverage. > - The benefit is a complete output path that reviewers can inspect without seeded data. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What existing behavior does this improve?** This change improves work-product presentation in task threads and the task Artifacts tab. **Subsystem affected** The change affects shared work-product contracts, the runner diff path, server attachment and work-product services, GitHub metadata refresh, the React board UI, and Storybook. **Current behavior** The thread used generic cards. Some files uploaded by a run existed only as message attachments. The Artifacts tab showed a flat list without run context or filters. Storybook showed only one resting card per kind. **Proposed behavior** The thread uses rich cards for supported work-product types. Each run-produced file registers one attachment-backed artifact work product. The Artifacts tab groups outputs by run and supports filters. Storybook shows every kind and requested state, PR lifecycle states, stats variants, truncation, mobile layout, and message-tail media. **Reason and benefit** Users can identify outputs quickly. Reviewers can inspect all card permutations without creating task data. **Breaking changes** None. The metadata fields and automatic artifact registration are additive. Existing attachments and work products keep their current behavior. ## What Changed - Added a shared rich work-product card with kind-specific content and a compact inventory variant. - Added pull-request and commit diff metadata plus bounded GitHub state refresh. - Added media strips and typed file chips to message-tail attachments. - Registered each run-produced attachment as an artifact work product in the same server transaction. - Grouped task artifacts by run with agent and timestamp headings. - Added type and run filters, image thumbnails, compact cards, and a company Artifacts link. - Added a Storybook kind-by-state matrix with stats variants for all eight visual kinds. - Added PR open, draft, merged, and closed examples, long-title truncation, an exact 375-pixel viewport, and message-tail overflow coverage. - Closed reconciled runtime work products when the linked runtime stops or disappears, so the card shows `Stopped` instead of `Unhealthy`. ### Screenshots Before: one resting card per kind. After: the kind and state matrix. After: message-tail media at 375 pixels. [Open the Storybook evidence viewer](https://pages.paperclip.ing/rich-work-product-storybook-20260902/). The earlier artifact inventory comparison remains available in the [artifact inventory viewer](https://pages.paperclip.ing/rich-artifacts-inventory-proof-20260902/). ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` passed. - `pnpm check:token-gates` passed. - `pnpm build-storybook` passed. - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/work-product-runtime-reconciliation.test.ts` passed with 5 tests. - Chromium visual checks passed at desktop and 375-pixel widths. - All 30 latest-head GitHub checks passed. One unrelated annotation test was flaky and passed on its single retry. - Greptile passed at 5/5 with zero unresolved threads. ## Risks - Low risk. The Storybook change adds review fixtures only. The runtime fix changes read-time reconciliation without database writes. - The matrix is intentionally large so every permutation stays visible in one review surface. > I checked `ROADMAP.md`. This work does not duplicate planned core work. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex with GPT-5 and GPT-5.6-sol across this pull request. Reasoning, tool use, and code execution were enabled. The context-window size is not exposed. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes: #` / `Closes #` / `Refs #` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal/instance-local Paperclip issues or links (only public GitHub `#NNN` / `github.com/paperclipai/paperclip` URLs) - [x] My public branch name describes the change and contains no internal task id - [x] I have run tests locally and the changed-path tests pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

feat(onboarding): Figma pass over the tenant arc (#12726)
Takes the four tenant onboarding steps to the design, and makes the model choice explicit. **Nothing is preselected on the connect step.** It arrived with a source already chosen, which made the row read as a confirmation rather than a question and let a customer pass the step having touched none of it. The step now opens unanswered and cannot advance until a source is selected in the visible row. Two defects fell out of that, both found by Greptile in review: - A saved draft can name an adapter the row does not show — one the registry dropped, or one in the advanced list. The gate asked `sourcePicked`, which only means "a draft named something", so Next stayed live on a step that had visibly asked nothing and would hire against the hidden name. It now asks `sourceSelected`, read off the visible row, and the snap that replaces an unofferable adapter clears the pick rather than presenting its replacement as chosen. - Cmd+Enter bypassed that gate entirely, because the condition was written out twice and drifted. Both paths now ask one predicate. Also: selection is a fill rather than a border; the input canvas opens only for a chosen source; the close control is gone from every step (nothing downstream of the connect step works until a model is connected); the arc draws to the design's 424px column with a filled 44px name field; the CTA reads "Next" through the arc and "Get started" at the end; the login spinner reads "Preparing..."; the OAuth panels number their fields and show the URL above the code. Storybook: the arc stories waited for a button named "Connect" and had been silently rendering the wrong step since the CTA was renamed. They now wait on the destination heading. Three e2e specs had the same fault and now select a source before advancing. One test was removed rather than replaced — `hydrates again when the same company comes back through onboarding` drove the close control, and three substitutes each passed against a wizard with the behaviour deleted. The reason is recorded where it stood. Known and not fixed here: SidebarCompanyMenu opens the wizard at step 1 for "create a new organization", and with no exit an existing user who changes their mind is trapped. Simplify app connections and enable managed Google access (#12728)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The Apps subsystem gives humans and agents governed access to external tools. > - The current connection flow hides Apps behind an experimental gate and repeats setup text. > - Google sharing choices and generic MCP permissions do not use one consistent opening model. > - Self-hosted installs also need a safe default origin for managed OAuth without a manual config file. > - This pull request makes Apps available, simplifies connection setup, and applies one governed permissions model. > - The benefit is a shorter connection flow that works on a clean self-hosted install. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What existing behavior does this improve?** This improves the Apps connection setup flow, managed Google connection flow, generic MCP connection flow, navigation, and runtime origin discovery. **Subsystem affected** Cross-cutting. This changes `ui/`, `server/`, `packages/shared/`, connector documentation, and browser tests. **Current behavior** Apps require an experimental switch. Setup pages repeat titles and explanatory copy. Connection names require manual input. Google credential sharing does not always offer both personal and organization access. Generic MCP providers do not start with the same permission choices. Managed OAuth needs a public URL setting even when the request already has a safe HTTPS origin. **Proposed behavior** Apps are available by default. Setup asks only for required permissions and sharing choices. Paperclip creates conflict-free connection names. Google apps and generic MCP providers use the same human and agent access model. Managed OAuth derives a validated same-origin HTTPS URL when no explicit public URL is set. **Reason and benefit** A clean self-hosted install can connect a managed Google app without hidden setup. Humans can share a service account with their organization. The shorter flow reduces duplicated choices and setup errors. **Breaking changes** The Apps experimental switch is removed. Existing connection APIs remain compatible. New connections can receive a numeric suffix when a name already exists. No duplicate or related public issue was found. ## What Changed - Removed the Apps experimental gate and the breadcrumb that leaves the Apps section. - Simplified all connection setup pages and moved optional provider requirements into one small link. - Added consistent human and agent access choices for Google apps, Zapier, and generic MCP connections. - Added organization sharing to Google Workspace credentials while keeping personal access available. - Generated connection names automatically and resolved name conflicts with numeric suffixes. - Derived a validated public HTTPS origin from the request for config-free managed OAuth. - Updated connector contracts, tests, browser coverage, and authoring documentation. ## Verification - `pnpm check:token-gates` - `pnpm -r typecheck` - `pnpm build` - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/tool-access-service.test.ts server/src/__tests__/generic-mcp-connection.test.ts` (273 passed) - Targeted UI/service regression suite (308 passed) - Six targeted Playwright connection journeys on a fresh onboarding instance (6 passed) - Fresh-install browser proof through Tailscale HTTPS: enrolled with Paperclip Cloud, connected managed Google Drive, and completed a real read operation. - [Exact-head CI run](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/33669760711): all 23 matrix jobs passed, including build, typecheck, server, serialized, canary, and all browser shards. - Greptile 5/5 on `0ae2a859f269984ee950d0af231a5b09a06f3dfd`, with no unresolved review threads. ## Risks Apps are now visible to all operators. The removed experimental flag no longer hides unfinished app definitions. Managed Google availability still depends on the Cloud profile rollout and active instance enrollment. Automatic conflict handling changes only the display name of a newly conflicting connection. > I checked [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md). MCP Tool Gateway and Apps are shipped. Connected Apps is planned, and this change improves the existing shipped connection flow. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-5, with reasoning, browser control, tool use, and code execution.

## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The task properties pane lets an operator change the settings for one task. > - The pane did not let an operator select the execution workspace for the next run. > - The existing workspace card had selection rules that another control could copy by mistake. > - This pull request adds one shared selection module and one compact property picker. > - The picker keeps the current workspace active until the next run. > - The benefit is a clear workspace choice in the task properties pane without an API change. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **Subsystem affected** ui/ — React + Vite board UI **Problem or motivation** An operator cannot set the execution workspace from the new task properties pane. The existing task workspace card also owns selection rules that a second control could copy and change over time. **Proposed solution** Add a compact workspace property picker. Put the shared selection and update rules in one UI module. Show the picker only when isolated workspaces and the project workspace policy are enabled. **Alternatives considered** The existing workspace card could remain the only control. This would leave the new task interface incomplete. The picker could also copy the card logic, but that would create two sources of truth. **Roadmap alignment** This is a small UI improvement for existing workspace controls. It does not duplicate a planned item in `ROADMAP.md`. Related workspace work: Refs #12682. That pull request changes runner recovery and other workspace controls. It does not add this task property picker. ## What Changed - Added shared helpers for the current workspace selection and its issue update payload. - Updated the existing workspace card to use the shared helpers without changing its project-default behavior. - Added a gated workspace property picker with mode and workspace search steps. - Added unit and component tests for visibility, selection payloads, search, and workspace reuse. - Rebased onto the upstream native-run teardown fix so CI drains background heartbeat writes before PostgreSQL cleanup. ## Verification - `NODE_ENV=test pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui exec vitest run src/lib/issue-workspace-selection.test.ts src/components/IssueProperties.test.tsx src/components/RoutineRunVariablesDialog.test.tsx` — 74 tests passed. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` — passed. - `pnpm check:token-gates` — passed. - `pnpm -r typecheck` — passed. - `pnpm build` — passed. - `NODE_ENV=test pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/services/native-runtime/native-question-bridge.test.ts` — 8 tests passed on the rebased head. The upstream teardown drain prevents the prior PostgreSQL cleanup deadlock. ## Risks - Low risk. This is a gated UI-only change. - A wrong selection payload could change the next workspace mode. Exact payload tests cover every mode. - The old card must keep its existing project-default payload. A shared-helper test covers that payload. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. fix(runner): restore task runtime parity (#12685)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The task view shows a running agent and lets an operator guide that agent. > - The merged runner stack lost parts of the accepted task experience. > - Native event errors could hide current reasoning from the operator. > - Queued message steering had no server route on `master`. > - This pull request restores the task-runtime behavior and keeps the runner experimental gate. > - The benefit is a visible and steerable native run with durable fallback behavior. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What happened?** The task view could stop showing current runner reasoning. The steering action also failed because the server route was absent. Runner instruction files were not declared as supported. **Expected behavior** The task view must show current provider activity. It must use the live log when durable native events are empty or unavailable. The operator must be able to steer a queued message into the active native turn. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Enable the Paperclip Runner experimental setting. 2. Start a native runner task. 3. Open the task view while the run emits reasoning. 4. Queue a message and select the steering action. **Paperclip version or commit** The regression reproduces on `24a674f8858060e77ea1beb50689d26473e91431`. **Additional context** Related closed work: Refs #12592. ## What Changed - Restored the queued-comment steering route for active native sessions. - Added durable and queue-bound steering acknowledgements for safe retries. - Restored runner instruction bundle support. - Added live-log fallback when native events are empty or unavailable. - Restored the compact live reasoning ticker in the task view. - Added a visible temporary-unavailable state when both activity sources fail. - Kept the unified Paperclip Runner experimental gate unchanged. ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` - `pnpm -r typecheck` - `pnpm check:token-gates` - `pnpm build` - Seven focused test files passed with 140 tests. - The final steering regression file passed with 12 tests. - The broad local test run reached unrelated workspace, port, and shared database failures. The changed-area tests remained green. ## Risks - The steering route changes queue and run records in one transaction. Tests cover stale targets, unavailable sessions, lost responses, and wrong-queue acknowledgements. - Native events remain the primary transcript source. The live log is used only when event data is absent or its poll fails. - The experimental gate still hides and rejects the runner when the setting is off. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. Onboarding: count the whole walk on a cloud tenant (#12706)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - A cloud customer meets it as one walk that crosses two applications: Cloud names the organization, then hands off to the tenant for the agent, the model and the review > - The tenant's progress strip counted only its own three steps, so the count restarted at the crossing — four dots on the naming screen, then three beginning again at one > - The strip that spans the whole walk already existed and simply was not chosen on that path, which made the walk read as two products rather than one > - This pull request picks the four-step strip when the run came from Cloud, so the count runs 1, 2, 3, 4 straight through > - The benefit is that the hand-off stops announcing itself ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What existing behavior does this improve?** The onboarding progress strip on a cloud tenant. It restarted its count at the hand-off from Cloud, so a customer went from "1 of 4" to "1 of 3" mid-walk. **Subsystem affected** Tenant onboarding wizard — `ui/src/components/OnboardingWizard.tsx`. **Current behavior** `showsAgentArcStepper` is `isAgentArcStep && entryStep >= 3`. Every run entering on the agent step gets the three-step strip, including a cloud tenant whose organization was named one screen earlier in Cloud. **Proposed behavior** A cloud tenant gets the four-step strip, positioned 2, 3 and 4. A self-hosted run entering on the same step keeps three. **Reason and benefit** The count describes the walk the customer is on rather than the half of it this application happens to render. **Breaking changes** None. No API or schema change; the self-hosted path is unchanged. ## What Changed - Adds `enteredFromCloud`, read from `enableManagedSandboxOnly` — the cloud-tenant shape the connect step already resolves its login environment through. - Excludes that case from `showsAgentArcStepper`, so it falls to the existing four-step strip. `ONBOARDING_STEP_LABELS` and `onboardingStepPositionFor` already produce 2, 3 and 4; neither needed changing. - Widens the experimental-settings query from step 4 to steps 3–5, so the strip can read it on every step of the arc. - Adds tests for both strip lengths. ## Verification - `pnpm vitest run src/components src/adapters storybook` in `ui/` — 2309 tests pass. - `pnpm typecheck` in `ui/` — clean. - Storybook, `Onboarding/Agent arc`: its fixture is cloud-shaped, so the three steps now announce "Step 2 of 4", "Step 3 of 4" and "Step 4 of 4" with four dots. - The two new tests fail without the change — the cloud case reports `expected 'Step 1 of 3' to be 'Step 2 of 4'`. ## Risks - **The two runs entering on the agent step are genuinely different, and only one signal separates them.** A cloud tenant walked a naming screen in Cloud; a self-hosted company with no agents walked nothing before this. Getting it backwards would either restart the count or credit a step nobody walked. Both directions are now tested, which they were not before — the suite covered `agentArcStepFor` but nothing asserted which strip renders. - `enableManagedSandboxOnly` is being read as a proxy for "came from Cloud". It is the same signal the connect step already trusts for its environment, so this does not introduce a new dependency, but it is inference rather than a fact passed at the hand-off. If the step count ever needs to vary, Cloud should seed the position explicitly instead. - The widened query means the value can be unresolved on first paint, and the strip briefly renders three dots before settling to four. The query key is shared and usually already cached, so this is rare rather than routine — worth watching on staging, and the fix if it shows is to hold the strip until the value resolves. - Cosmetic only. Nothing here changes which steps run, what they collect, or where the walk goes. ## Model Used Claude Opus 5 (`claude-opus-5`), via Claude Code with extended thinking, tool use, and browser-driven verification of the rendered strip. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [ ] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) Co-authored-by: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Remove cheap model profiles (#12683)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip manages agents that use different model providers and adapters. > - Paperclip must keep agent execution rules clear and predictable. > - The cheap-model profile added a second execution mode across adapters, task recovery, APIs, and the UI. > - That mode increased configuration and recovery complexity. > - This pull request removes the cheap-model profile as a product feature. > - The benefit is one model-selection path for normal work and recovery work. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What existing behavior does this improve?** This change simplifies model selection across agent configuration, task execution, recovery, and adapter capabilities. **Current behavior** Paperclip exposes cheap-model profiles in adapter metadata, agent runtime configuration, task overrides, recovery rules, APIs, and the board UI. Recovery work can select a different model profile from the agent's configured model. **Proposed behavior** Paperclip uses the agent's configured model for normal work and recovery work. Status-only recovery stays limited to coordination work. The API rejects legacy model-profile configuration. A migration removes stored model-profile values from existing agent, issue, and historical revision records. **Reason and benefit** One model path reduces configuration, API, UI, and recovery complexity. It also prevents status recovery from becoming a separate product-level model-routing feature. **Breaking changes** This change removes model-profile fields and adapter capability metadata. Existing stored model-profile values are removed by an idempotent migration. The validators reject new legacy profile values with clear errors. ## What Changed - Removed model-profile types, adapter capabilities, API fields, and model selection logic. - Removed cheap-model controls from agent and task UI surfaces. - Kept status-only recovery limited to coordination context while normal continuations use the configured agent model. - Added an idempotent migration that removes stored model-profile values from agents, issues, and configuration revisions without changing issue update timestamps. - Updated tests and product documentation for the single-model behavior. ## Verification - `pnpm check:token-gates` passes. - `pnpm -r typecheck` passes. - `pnpm build` passes. - `pnpm test:run` completed with 5,607 passing tests and 8 environment-sensitive failures in unrelated fixed-port and database-deadlock suites. The same failures repeated in an isolated rerun. CI is the final clean-room result. ## Risks - This is an intentional breaking change for clients that send model-profile fields. - The migration changes legacy agent, issue, and configuration-revision JSON. It is idempotent and preserves unrelated fields and issue update timestamps. - The change is cross-cutting because the removed feature existed in adapters, shared contracts, the server, plugins, and the UI. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex with `gpt-5`. Reasoning and tool use were enabled. The runtime did not expose the context-window size. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [ ] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

Clean up experimental settings features (#12681)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app that people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Instance settings control optional product features and developer tools. > - The experimental settings page mixed active experiments, internal tools, and old recovery controls. > - Some workspace links also used the selected company instead of the workspace owner. > - These problems made settings hard to scan and could send users to the wrong company route. > - This pull request removes old controls, groups developer settings, and resolves workspace links from workspace data. > - The benefit is a smaller settings surface and correct workspace navigation. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What existing behavior does this improve?** This improves the instance experimental settings page, task watchdog controls, dependency wake recovery, and execution workspace routes. **Current behavior** The settings page shows old recovery controls and mixes product experiments with internal developer settings. Task watchdogs require an extra feature flag. Some direct workspace links use the current company prefix instead of the company that owns the workspace. **Proposed behavior** Remove the old task recovery experiment and its unused API surface. Make task watchdog controls available without the removed flag. Put worktree execution and managed environment controls in the developer section. Resolve direct workspace links from the workspace owner and reject a company prefix that does not own the workspace. **Reason and benefit** The smaller settings page is easier to understand. The server keeps only the dependency wake backstop that it still uses. Workspace links open under the correct company route. **Breaking changes** This removes the experimental issue graph recovery preview and run endpoints. It also removes the task watchdog feature flag. Task watchdog data and dependency wake behavior remain available. ## What Changed - Removed the old task watchdog and issue graph recovery feature flags. - Removed the old issue graph recovery preview, run controls, API contracts, and unused recovery implementation. - Kept resolved dependency wakes as the scheduler backstop. - Grouped product experiments and Paperclip developer settings on the instance settings page. - Made task watchdog controls available without an extra experimental flag. - Added owner-aware redirects and company checks for execution workspace routes. - Hid the false stopped-state badge while a workspace has no active runtime state. - Updated focused server and UI tests for the new behavior. ## Verification - `pnpm check:token-gates` - `pnpm -r typecheck` - `pnpm build` - `pnpm test:run` completed with 5,620 passing tests and four failures in unchanged workspace runtime port tests. The same four failures repeat when the two files run alone. - The complete GitHub CI matrix passed, including all server, serialized server, build, canary, and end-to-end jobs. ## Risks - Clients that call the removed experimental recovery endpoints must stop calling them. - The route checks depend on workspace detail access. An unknown or cross-company workspace returns the global not-found page. - There are no database migrations, lockfile changes, workflow changes, or design image changes. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex with GPT-5. Onboarding: model source tiles, one input canvas, and Storybook coverage for the agent arc (#12613)
## Thinking Path
> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work
> - New customers meet it through onboarding, whose last three steps run
inside the tenant: create an agent, connect a model, review
> - The connect step is the one that decides whether the agent can run
at all, and it had drifted — three contributors changed it in parallel,
and its visual language no longer matched the rest of the flow
> - It also could not be looked at without a provisioned stack, so
defects in it were only found by walking a real signup, and the review
step behind it could not be reached at all when it failed
> - This pull request brings the visual work onto the sign-in behaviour
that already shipped, and adds Storybook coverage for all three steps
> - The benefit is that the step is easier to read, and that it can now
be inspected and driven before it ships rather than after
## Linked Issues or Issue Description
**What existing behavior does this improve?**
The onboarding connect-a-model step. It presented the model choice as a
dropdown plus an "Advanced settings" disclosure, and put each credential
type in a different place, so the controls below moved whenever the
choice changed.
**Subsystem affected**
Tenant onboarding wizard (`ui/src/components/OnboardingWizard.tsx`) and
its Storybook coverage.
**Current behavior**
The step offered every registered adapter through a disclosure.
Credential entry appeared in a different shape per source. None of the
three agent-arc steps could be rendered outside a provisioned cloud
stack, so the sign-in panel and the review step were only reachable by
walking a real signup.
**Proposed behavior**
Two brand tiles for the recommended sources, a link that switches
between subscription and API-key credentials, and one canvas that holds
whichever input the current choice needs. Storybook stories mount the
real wizard against fixtures and walk it forward, so every step and its
states can be inspected locally.
**Reason and benefit**
The step reads as one decision rather than three scattered ones, and its
furniture stays still while the choice changes. The stories mean a
regression in it is visible before release instead of during a signup.
**Breaking changes**
No API or schema change. One behavioural narrowing, described under
Risks.
## What Changed
- Replaces the adapter dropdown and "Advanced settings" disclosure with
`ModelSourceTiles` — brand tiles for Claude Code and Codex.
- Adds `CredentialModeLink`, a text toggle between subscription sign-in
and API keys, replacing the disclosure.
- Adds `ConnectInputCanvas`: one surface that holds the sign-in panel or
the API-key field and resizes between them, so the Connect button below
does not move.
- Keeps the existing sign-in behaviour unchanged. `AgentConfigForm`
changes are presentation only — the provider name in the title, the CTA
wording, and `space-y` to `gap`. No change to the login mutations,
queries, or session handling.
- Restores the sleep marks on the dormant agent for the two steps before
the hire.
- Adds Storybook stories for all three agent-arc steps, with fixtures
for the environments, auth signal, both adapters' login flows, and the
hire.
- Copy: names the provider being signed in to ("Sign in to
Anthropic"/"Sign in to OpenAI"), and drops "Clippy" from the agent-name
helper text.
## Verification
- `pnpm vitest run src/components storybook` in `ui/` — 139 tests over
the touched suites, 1986 across `src/components`.
- `pnpm typecheck` in `ui/` — clean.
- Storybook, `Onboarding/Agent arc`: walk each story. Step 1 has no Back
button, steps 2 and 3 do.
- The sign-in gate: on `Connect a model`, press Connect without signing
in. It holds on step 2 and reports "No working authentication was
found." On `Review`, which fixtures an authenticated signal, Connect
reaches the review step.
- Both providers' login flows: press Sign in on the Claude tile for the
authorization URL and browser-code field, and on the Codex tile for the
device URL and code.
- The Claude sign-in was also walked end to end on a staging tenant,
including the OAuth redirect and pasting the code back.
## Risks
- **Onboarding now offers two model sources instead of every registered
adapter.** `ModelSourceTiles` is fed the `recommended` set, which is
`claude_local` and `codex_local`; Gemini, Cursor, Grok, Kimi, OpenCode
and Paperclip Runner are no longer selectable *during onboarding*. This
is deliberate. The full list is unchanged in agent settings, which is
where an adapter can still be switched after the agent exists, and
adding a source back is one `recommended: true` in
`adapter-display-registry.ts`. Flagging it because it is the one
behavioural narrowing here and it is not visible from the diffstat.
- The API key entered on this step is held in component state and
deliberately never written to the onboarding draft, because that draft
is `localStorage`. A customer who leaves mid-step re-enters the key;
that is the intended trade.
- Storybook-only risk: the fixtures now answer the environment test from
the story's auth state. If a future change moves the hire's gate off the
`adapter_auth_missing` check code, the stories would keep passing while
the product regressed. The gate is asserted in the adapter packages' own
tests, not here.
- Motion changes are low risk and reversible: the input canvas animates
its contents only, and its container was deliberately left unanimated
after an animated wrapper clipped the sign-in panel.

fix(onboarding): restore browser launch and gate canaries (#12667)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The onboarding command starts the local server and opens the first-run wizard. > - Interactive onboarding stopped opening the browser by default. > - Organization creation could also succeed in the API while the wizard stayed on the name step. > - The npm canary workflow did not prove that the published package could complete this path. > - This pull request repairs the startup and organization transitions and adds an exact-version canary smoke gate. > - The benefit is a quickstart that works for users and is tested after each canary publish. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Related: #12557 covers a separate final-route onboarding handoff. **What happened?** Interactive `paperclipai onboard` runs did not open the onboarding page. The organization API request could succeed while a same-company context update caused the wizard to stay on the organization step. The canary release lane did not test the exact published npm package through this path. **Expected behavior** Interactive onboarding must open the browser once. A successful organization request must advance to the first-agent step when the surrounding context adopts the same organization. Each published canary must install in a clean environment and reach the model connection step. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Run `npx paperclipai@canary onboard --data-dir "$(mktemp -d /tmp/paperclip-canary.XXXXXX)"` in an interactive terminal. 2. Enter an organization name while the company context refreshes from the create response. 3. Observe that the browser does not open or that the wizard can remain on the organization step after the API creates it. 4. Inspect the canary release lane and observe that no post-publish onboarding test runs against the exact npm version. **Paperclip version or commit** The issue reproduced with `2026.901.0-canary.8` and the source state before this pull request. **Deployment mode** Local trusted quickstart with embedded PostgreSQL. The install source can be npm or a source checkout. ## What Changed - Open the browser once for interactive foreground onboarding. - Preserve explicit browser opt-outs and restore the prior environment value after startup. - Accept a same-company context update after organization creation and reject a different-company takeover with an explicit error. - Export the exact canary version from the publish job. - Install and test that exact npm version in a clean Playwright smoke job through the "Connect a model" step. - Upload server logs, traces, screenshots, and the Playwright report when the canary smoke fails. - Document the interactive default and headless opt-outs. ## Verification - `pnpm exec vitest run cli/src/__tests__/onboard.test.ts ui/src/components/OnboardingWizard.step.test.tsx --reporter=dot` passes with 37 tests. - `node --test scripts/__tests__/release-verify-workflow.test.mjs` passes with 9 tests. - `pnpm exec playwright test --config tests/e2e/playwright.config.ts tests/e2e/onboarding.spec.ts` passes with 2 tests. - `PAPERCLIPAI_VERSION=2026.901.0-canary.8 pnpm run test:canary-onboarding-smoke` passes against the published npm package. - `pnpm check:token-gates` passes. - `pnpm -r typecheck` passes. - `pnpm build` passes. - A fresh interactive source run opens the browser and reaches "Connect a model" after organization and agent naming. ## Risks - Low risk. Automatic browser opening only applies to interactive foreground onboarding. - `PAPERCLIP_NO_BROWSER=1` and `PAPERCLIP_OPEN_ON_LISTEN=false` keep headless runs silent. - A different organization context still blocks the pending create transition. - The canary package is immutable before the smoke runs. A smoke failure leaves the package published but makes the release workflow red. - This change does not modify REST APIs, database schemas, or shared data types. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Gate Paperclip Runner setup behind an experimental flag (#12656)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Agent adapters control how Paperclip starts and resumes an agent runtime. > - Paperclip Runner is an experimental Rust runtime and must stay opt-in. > - The server already rejected new runner selections when the flag was off. > - Some setup and onboarding views did not enforce the same boundary. > - This pull request exposes the existing flag and applies it to every new setup path. > - The benefit is a safe rollout with unchanged legacy onboarding and recoverable existing native runs. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What existing behavior does this improve?** This improves experimental adapter selection in Settings, onboarding, new-agent setup, invite setup, and company import. **Subsystem affected** Cross-cutting: the React UI and the server onboarding seed service. **Current behavior** The server defaulted Paperclip Runner to off, but Settings did not expose the flag. First-run onboarding could show the runner after opt-in. A direct new-agent URL and some setup pickers could also reveal native runner configuration before the availability check completed. **Proposed behavior** Settings has a default-off Paperclip Runner toggle. Explicit agent configuration shows the runner only after the server reports that the flag is enabled. First-run and invite onboarding always use legacy adapters. Existing native agents and runs remain readable and recoverable. **Reason and benefit** This keeps the experimental runtime out of normal onboarding. It also gives administrators one clear opt-in before users can create a native runner agent. **Breaking changes** None. Legacy adapter selection and execution stay unchanged. Existing native records remain available. ## What Changed - Added the Paperclip Runner opt-in to Experimental Settings. - Refreshed adapter availability after the setting changes. - Kept UI and server-seeded onboarding on legacy adapters. - Made native runner choices fail closed in new-agent, invite, and import setup. - Preserved edit and recovery behavior for existing native agents and runs. - Added focused regression tests for flag-off and flag-on behavior. ## Verification - GitHub Actions will run the repository test, typecheck, build, and policy gates. - Focused tests cover Settings, onboarding, agent creation, invite setup, import setup, and server-seeded onboarding. - No local test suite was run, per the maintainer request to use GitHub Actions for verification. - `git diff --check` passes. ## Risks Low risk. The change narrows new adapter selection only. The server remains the final enforcement point. Existing native records do not depend on the current flag value for read or recovery behavior. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. feat(runner): add administration and observability (#12641)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Administrators need bounded controls for experimental native execution. > - The lower stack adds remote Codex execution and the task workspace. > - Operators need to configure Codex safely and inspect provider traces. > - Unsupported providers must not appear as runnable choices. > - This pull request adds Codex-only administration and observability. > - The benefit is a default-off operational surface for production diagnosis. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #12640. Refs #12616. Refs #12352. **Subsystem affected** Agent configuration, instance experimental settings, run ledger, provider trace inspector, and administrator actions. **Problem or motivation** The native runner lacks one safe operator surface for Codex permissions, lifecycle, raw trace capture, and run inspection. The integration branch also contains provider choices that the production backend cannot execute yet. **Proposed solution** Expose only the qualified Codex controls. Keep Paperclip Developer Mode and runner preview ingress off by default. Gate raw trace actions by administrator access and existing trace authorization. **Alternatives considered** Exposing unfinished providers would create configurations that fail at runtime. Always-on tracing would increase sensitive data and storage risk. **Roadmap alignment** This work supports governed Cloud and Sandbox agents and production diagnostics. ## Stack - Base PR: #12640. - Lower PRs: #12639 and #12638. - This PR contains only its 54-file administration and observability delta. - This is the final feature PR in the Codex production stack. ## What Changed - Added Codex-only Paperclip Runner permission and lifecycle controls. - Added bounded warm idle configuration. - Kept the provider field fixed to Codex. - Added administrator-only one-run raw trace requests. - Added a persistent future-run raw trace toggle. - Added trace status, metadata, ledger, and canonical runner inspection. - Added JSON-RPC request-origin grouping and finalization lineage. - Restored the stateful PRP transcript parser and focused projection tests required by trace inspection. - Added default-off Paperclip Developer Mode. - Added Honeycomb run links for authorized developer mode. - Disabled the legacy operational skill for `paperclip_runner`. - Did not expose OpenCode, ACPX, Pi, Claude Managed, or AWS runner choices. - Did not change migrations, workflows, dependencies, or `pnpm-lock.yaml`. ## Verification - GitHub Actions will run UI tests, server tests, repository typecheck, build, browser tests, security, and policy gates. - Tests cover Codex configuration defaults and bounds, administrator trace actions, persistent settings, ledger inspection, trace lineage, and Honeycomb links. - Existing server trace authorization and retention tests remain the backend authority. - Local tests were not run. The requested verification policy uses GitHub Actions for this series. - `git diff --check runner/task-workspace-experience...HEAD` passes. - The delta contains 54 files. ## Risks - Raw provider traces can contain sensitive provider data. - Existing server authorization controls access, reveal, download, retention, and deletion. - The UI gates trace actions by administrator access and developer mode. - All new instance settings remain off by default. - Fresh Paperclip Runner configuration remains Codex-only. - Direct adapters and legacy task behavior do not change in this PR. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex with GPT-5.6. The work used high-reasoning agent mode, repository tools, GitHub tools, and parallel code-audit agents. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with Fixes: / Closes / Refs OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal or instance-local Paperclip issues or links - [x] My branch name describes the change and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id - [ ] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge |

feat(ui): complete the task workspace (#12640)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The task page is the main place where people guide and review agent work. > - Native runner events already project into the existing task chat on the lower stack. > - The larger task workspace must support those events without breaking direct adapters. > - Legacy questions, final replies, empty transcripts, and classic controls must keep their behavior. > - This pull request completes the provider-neutral task workspace experience. > - The benefit is one coherent task surface for native and direct execution paths. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #12639. Refs #12617. Refs #12352. **Subsystem affected** Task chat, task detail, side panels, interaction forms, and transcript presentation. **Problem or motivation** The task page does not provide one complete workspace for live activity, plans, questions, queued guidance, files, and documents. Earlier native UI work also exposed compatibility risks in legacy question and reply paths. **Proposed solution** Add the task workspace components and provider-neutral protocol presentation. Keep runner-only controls behind runtime facts. Preserve all direct-adapter composer, transcript, interaction, and finalization behavior. **Alternatives considered** A separate runner page would duplicate task behavior. Replacing legacy transcript logic would create unnecessary adapter regressions. **Roadmap alignment** This work supports the unified task experience and the Cloud and Sandbox agents milestone. ## Stack - Base PR: #12639. - Lower PR: #12638. - This PR contains only its 119-file UI delta against `runner/remote-wss-transport`. - The next stack PR adds administrator and observability controls. ## What Changed - Added a reusable task workspace side panel for files and documents. - Added provider-neutral cards for tools, plans, questions, protocol activity, and progress. - Added queued guidance and richer composer state. - Added compact and expanded interaction presentation. - Added live activity, thinking, usage, recovery, and final reply presentation. - Added document annotations and task deep links. - Added bounded question validation and response handling. - Preserved native runner event projection from master. - Preserved legacy channel-less replies and explicit final reply precedence. - Preserved direct-adapter and classic-interface controls. - Did not change server execution selection, Rust code, migrations, workflows, or `pnpm-lock.yaml`. ## Verification - GitHub Actions will run UI tests, repository tests, typecheck, build, browser tests, security, and policy gates. - Tests cover active, settled, empty-transcript, interaction, queued-message, plan, question, file, document, and classic-interface states. - Compatibility tests cover direct adapters and native runner projection together. - Local tests were not run. The requested verification policy uses GitHub Actions for this series. - `git diff --check runner/remote-wss-transport...HEAD` passes. - The delta contains 119 UI-only files. ## Risks - This is a large task-page change. - Most files are new focused components and tests. - Shared transcript code keeps the lower native projection and legacy direct-adapter fallbacks. - Runner-only controls use adapter and runtime facts. - No execution path or rollout flag changes in this PR. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex with GPT-5.6. feat(ui): project native runner turns into task chat (#12617)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to supervise AI agents and their work. > - The task page is the established place to read run progress and answer agent questions. > - Native runner events use PRP envelopes instead of the direct-adapter transcript format. > - The task page needs a narrow projection for those events without changing legacy adapter behavior. > - Unknown event versions and fields must stay hidden until the UI supports them. > - This pull request adds a runtime-gated native turn projection and preserves the classic path. > - The benefit is one task thread for native Codex runs while direct adapters keep their current UI. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **Subsystem affected** `ui/` task chat and transcript projection. **Problem or motivation** The server can record native runner events, replies, usage, and structured interactions, but the existing task page cannot safely render those records. Reusing the native path for direct adapters would also risk the legacy question and finalization behavior. **Proposed solution** Project supported PRP v1 events into the existing transcript model only when runtime facts identify a native `paperclip_runner` run. Use an exact event and payload allowlist. Keep direct adapters on the existing transcript, composer, interaction, and finalization path. **Alternatives considered** A separate runner page was rejected because it would split task history. A universal transcript replacement was rejected because the experimental runner must not alter legacy adapters. **Roadmap alignment** This change supports activity attribution and recoverable runs. It does not replace the current task page. ## What Changed - Project supported native PRP v1 assistant, reasoning, tool, activity, usage, interaction, and result events. - Render a native runner turn only when both runtime mode and adapter type match. - Recognize the canonical `assistant_message` item kind and preserve final-reply precedence. - Fail closed for unsupported PRP versions, event types, payload schemas, and identity fields. - Keep explicit running and pending provider activities open until a real terminal state arrives. - Include channel and lifecycle identity in memoization so progress-to-final transitions rerender. - Add focused native, empty-transcript, interaction, final, memoization, and direct-adapter regressions. ## Verification - GitHub Actions is the authoritative test environment for this stack. - This top PR receives the full stack-aware CI suite. - Greptile will review this exact nine-file delta after the branch is pushed. ## Risks - The main risk is changing direct-adapter task behavior. The render gate requires both native runtime mode and the `paperclip_runner` adapter. - The next risk is exposing future provider payloads. Version, event, schema, and field allowlists fail closed. - There are no database, lockfile, workflow, build-system, or server changes in this PR. ## Stack 1. [Runner package, SDK, and developer tools](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/12608) 2. [Codex production server integration](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/12616) 3. This PR: provider-neutral task-thread UI ## Model Used OpenAI Codex with GPT-5, extended reasoning, repository tools, and parallel review agents. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [ ] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge |

feat(runner): add Codex-native application integration (#12591)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The runner package is useful only when the application can start, observe, and recover a native Codex run safely. > - Existing direct adapters must keep their current execution and finalization paths. > - The application boundary therefore needs additive persistence, authorization, coordination, and recovery behind an explicit experimental adapter. > - This pull request adds that Codex-only boundary without activating generalized providers, remote environments, or the later task/SDK surfaces. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **Subsystem affected** Shared contracts, database persistence, adapter utilities, server native-runtime services, and the experimental Paperclip Runner adapter. **Problem or motivation** The already-landed runner package has a qualified Codex path, but the application needs durable native-run state, guarded runtime selection, authenticated coordination, tool security, finalization, and recovery before the experimental adapter can be exercised safely. **Proposed solution** Add a Codex-only `paperclip_runner` application path behind the existing default-off native-runner setting. Bind native state and coordination to company/run identity, preserve persisted-run recovery, and leave every direct adapter on its existing legacy execution path. **Alternatives considered** The earlier stack boundary introduced a generalized executor and remote-environment lifecycle here. That made this PR depend on implementations in higher PRs and changed reusable sandbox behavior globally. Those pieces are now deferred together to #12592. **Roadmap alignment** ROADMAP.md does not list a conflicting native-runner integration project. This change adds the application boundary for the existing Runner architecture. ## What Changed - Added native run/result/finalization/provider-trace persistence, shared validators, and idempotent migration/replay coverage. - Added guarded Codex-only runtime selection, authenticated PRP coordination, recovery, finalization, and interaction services. - Added run/company-bound tool-gateway authorization, credential redaction, SSRF protections, and replay-safe behavior. - Added the explicit `paperclip_runner` adapter behind the default-off rollout setting. - Preserved legacy answered-question wake projection and direct-adapter execution/finalization paths. - Hardened cancellation so only owned in-memory child processes are signaled; persisted recycled PIDs/process groups are never trusted. - Retained the narrow Claude ACPX isolated-context security follow-up discovered after #12590. - Deferred the generalized executor, provider ingress, remote lifecycle, SDK/lab/eval work, release-process changes, and lockfile. ## Verification - Changed-file delta against `master`: 133 files. - GitHub Actions is the authoritative verification environment for this PR. - Full CI, security, and Greptile review will run on this lowest unmerged stack PR. - Local tests/build/typecheck were not run because this checkout is resource constrained. - Static diff/reference checks pass, and `pnpm-lock.yaml` is unchanged. ## Risks - This touches central heartbeat and agent-route code, so legacy compatibility is the primary risk. - Runtime selection remains Codex-only and explicit; direct Codex, Claude, OpenCode, process, HTTP, and plugin adapters remain on their existing paths. - Fresh native starts fail closed while the rollout flag is off; persisted native records remain readable and recoverable. - Cancellation, company/run binding, tool calls, status decisions, and completion writes are guarded or replay-safe. > For core feature work, check [ROADMAP.md](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in #dev before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-5.6, with repository tools, code execution, and parallel agent review. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either linked existing issues or described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal or instance-local Paperclip issues or links - [x] My branch name describes the change and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id - [ ] I have run tests locally and they pass — GitHub Actions is authoritative for this resource-constrained checkout - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented risks above - [ ] All Paperclip CI and security gates are green - [ ] Greptile is 5/5 with no open actionable findings - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before merge ## Stack - Position: 3 of 5 overall; lowest of 3 currently unmerged - Base: `master` - Previous: [#12590](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/12590), qualified Claude ACPX runtime — merged - Next: [#12592](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/12592), generalized Codex executor, task experience, and developer SDKs --------- Co-authored-by: Dev Agent <dev@paperclip.ing> |

feat(runner): project native runs into task threads (#12321)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The experimental Paperclip Runner can execute a guarded Codex run and persist provider-neutral events. > - The task page still reads direct-adapter transcripts and cannot present those native events. > - Structured runner questions must also use the existing task interaction experience. > - Runtime selection must use the persisted run mode, not an adapter name or a current feature flag. > - This pull request projects native events and questions into the existing task thread. > - Direct adapters keep their existing transcript, composer, interaction, and finalization paths. > - The benefit is a complete native Codex task thread without a behavior change for existing adapters. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #12202. This pull request replaces that stale implementation on current `master`. **What happened?** The server persists native runner events and structured input requests. The task page only consumes direct-adapter transcripts. A native run therefore cannot present a complete transcript, usage, or question flow through the normal task experience. **Expected behavior** Native runs project persisted provider-neutral events into the existing task thread. Native structured questions use the existing interaction card. Direct adapters retain their current behavior. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Enable the experimental runner. 2. Start a native Codex run that emits progress, usage, a structured question, and a final reply. 3. Open the task page. 4. Observe that the direct-adapter transcript path cannot project the native event records. **Paperclip version or commit** `master` at `67f9867bc`. ## What Changed - Add the canonical structured-question validator and shared contract exports. - Materialize native input requests as existing task interactions. - Validate native answers and deliver them through the durable question-response receipt. - Resume the original PRP request with an idempotent `request.resolve` command. - Project native messages, tool activity, cumulative usage, and final replies into the existing transcript model. - Propagate persisted `runtimeMode` to the task page and select native handling only for `runtimeMode: "native"`. - Expire pending interactions through the shared issue service on every terminal transition, including decisions, stalled reviews, tree control, and pipeline retry cleanup. - Queue native run cancellation while a transaction is open and execute it only after the owning transaction commits. - Keep nonterminal and non-runner issue paths on their existing service call shapes and behavior. ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` — passed, including the Rust runner release build and protocol/catalog drift gates. - Focused native-thread and lifecycle suites — 18 files and 481 tests passed during review. - `issue-execution-policy-routes.test.ts` — 19/19 passed after the final transactional-queue expectation update. - `issue-agent-mutation-ownership-routes.test.ts` — 87/87 passed in the final isolated compatibility rerun. - GitHub Actions — policy, build, canary, typecheck/release registry, 5 serialized server shards, 8 general-test shards, 3 browser shards, and both aggregate gates passed on `7793f3193`. - Security — Snyk, Socket Project Report, Socket PR Alerts, and Superagent passed. - Greptile — 5/5 on `7793f3193`; all actionable review threads resolved. - `git diff --check` — passed. - Diff against `master`: 44 files. ## Compatibility Boundary - Native transcript polling only runs when the persisted run reports `runtimeMode: "native"`. - Missing or legacy runtime modes continue through `useLiveRunTranscripts`. - Legacy questions keep the existing optional free-text choice. - Native closed select sets can suppress that legacy fallback. - Terminal cleanup uses the same issue service for native and legacy interactions; only a bound native question schedules a native run cancellation. - Native cancellation happens after transaction commit, so failed or rolled-back writes do not cancel a still-valid run. - The durable delivery service checks the original native request before it considers a continuation run. - This pull request adds no migration, dependency, workflow, manifest, or lockfile change. ## Risks The main risk is routing a direct-adapter task through native handling or changing terminal issue behavior. The implementation selects the native path only from persisted runtime facts, retains the existing nonterminal call shape, and schedules native cancellation only for a validated bound native question after commit. Focused and repository-wide tests cover both paths. Native requests remain bound to the company, issue, run, and agent; answers are validated, durable, and idempotent across reconnects. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-5 family. The client does not expose the exact deployment ID or context window. Agentic reasoning, tool use, and code execution were enabled. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes: #` / `Closes #` / `Refs #` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal/instance-local Paperclip issues or links (only public GitHub `#NNN` / `github.com/paperclipai/paperclip` URLs) - [x] My branch name describes the change and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run the affected local tests and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated the compatibility notes for this change - [x] I have considered and documented risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I addressed all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge |

## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The backend now turns agent requests into durable connection intents. > - Operators need a clear path to inspect, configure, and finish those requests. > - The experience must preserve identity, agent access, and interrupted setup state. > - This pull request adds the connection intent setup experience across the app UI. > - The benefit is one guided flow from agent request to governed connection. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #11965 This is stack 9 of 11. It depends on stack 8 and replaces another reviewable part of #11965. ## What Changed - Add connection intent cards and setup flow integration. - Add browse, connection, app detail, and sidebar experience updates. - Preserve exact draft identity and access choices across resume and OAuth recovery. - Add focused UI, architecture, policy, and end-to-end coverage. - Keep transient retained-connection lookup failures retryable instead of misclassifying them as missing targets. - Align the dark-mode E2E contract with the intentionally hidden Gateways and Profiles sidebar tabs. ## Verification - `pnpm -r typecheck` - Focused UI result: 372 tests passed across 20 files. - AppsConnect regression suite: 80/80 passed, including failed connection and application lookups during retained reconnect. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui exec vitest run src/components/AppsSidebar.test.tsx` (1 passed) - `pnpm check:token-gates` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/db check:migrations` - `pnpm build` ## Risks - An interrupted OAuth flow can leave a durable draft that needs resume. - The UI resumes the exact draft and keeps its identity and agent access settings. - Retained reconnect retries refetch connections and applications together to avoid mixing partial snapshots. - Gateways and Profiles remain route-accessible but intentionally absent from the sidebar until their existing ship gate is lifted. - The change does not add a database migration. > I checked `ROADMAP.md`. This stack continues the existing app connection work from #11965 and does not duplicate another planned item. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-5. The runtime model ID and context window were not exposed. The model used reasoning, tool use, and code execution. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have linked the public source pull request with `Refs #` - [x] I have not referenced internal or instance-local Paperclip issues or links - [x] My branch name describes the change and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

feat(connections): add self-serve intent runtime (#12345)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Agents need a governed way to request app connections during issue work. > - The catalog now describes the available providers and setup methods. > - A request must become a durable, company-scoped intent before an operator acts on it. > - This pull request adds that intent runtime across server, agent, CLI, and shared contracts. > - The benefit is a safe bridge from agent need to operator-approved setup. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #11965 This is stack 7 of 11. It depends on stack 6 and replaces another reviewable part of #11965. ## What Changed - Add connection intent types, validation, service logic, and routes. - Add agent runtime tools and CLI support for connection requests. - Add issue-thread interaction support for connection intents. - Add runtime, route, adapter, and contract tests. - Hold the final resolved-continuation row lock through asynchronous adapter preparation until an actual process spawn, so parking or reassignment cannot cross that boundary. - Report Hermes Gateway's first remote run request through the shared dispatch hook so the resolved-intent lock is released at the true dispatch boundary. - Revalidate the addressed user's live non-viewer membership and connection-management authority for every intent mutation, including OAuth completion. ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/tool-access-service.test.ts` - Result: 176 tests passed. - `pnpm build` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/heartbeat-stale-queue-invalidation.test.ts` (32 passed; includes non-process dispatch lock-release coverage) - `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/server server/src/__tests__/connection-intents-service.test.ts -t "addressed-user mutation"` (1 passed) - `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/server server/src/__tests__/tool-access-service.test.ts -t "binds OAuth callback completion to the initiating board session"` (1 passed) - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/hermes-paperclip-adapter test -- src/gateway/server/execute.test.ts` (23 passed; includes dispatch-hook ordering and exactly-once coverage) - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/hermes-paperclip-adapter typecheck` ## Risks - A malformed intent could create an unusable operator request. - Validators and company checks reject invalid or cross-company requests. - The final continuation gate holds the issue row lock through adapter preparation until process or remote dispatch; later operator changes use the normal active-run interruption path. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have linked the public source pull request with `Refs #` - [x] I have not referenced internal or instance-local Paperclip issues or links - [x] My branch name describes the change and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

feat(apps): expand the self-serve connection catalog (#12344)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - A useful app store needs accurate and selectable provider definitions. > - Local brand assets now cover the expanded provider set. > - Provider methods differ in transport, authentication, ownership, and required scope. > - This pull request expands the catalog and encodes those provider contracts. > - The benefit is a larger self-serve store with explicit setup choices. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #11965 This is stack 6 of 11. It depends on stack 5 and replaces another reviewable part of #11965. ## What Changed - Add and update provider definitions for the self-serve catalog. - Add Google Workspace connection methods and capability profiles. - Add catalog generation, ingestion, URL matching, and contract tests. - Update legacy key tests to use a provider that still uses header credentials. ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/tool-access-service.test.ts` - Result: 164 tests passed. - `pnpm build` ## Risks - An incorrect provider definition can offer the wrong setup method. - Contract tests verify transport, authentication, and provider URL behavior. - The change does not add a database migration. > I checked `ROADMAP.md`. This stack continues the existing app connection work from #11965 and does not duplicate another planned item. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-5. feat(apps): add local connection brand assets (#12343)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The app store needs stable provider marks that do not depend on remote image hosts. > - The connector layer adds many recognizable services. > - Local assets must work in light and dark themes and follow the design token gate. > - This pull request adds the provider asset set and its rendering support. > - The benefit is fast and consistent app identification across the UI. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #11965 This is stack 5 of 11. It depends on stack 4 and replaces another reviewable part of #11965. ## What Changed - Add local provider logos for the connection catalog. - Add light and dark asset selection where providers need it. - Add deterministic fallback behavior and UI tests. - Document the fixed brand-color allowlist in the token gate. ## Verification - `pnpm -r typecheck` - `pnpm check:token-gates` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui exec vitest run src/pages/apps/AppLogo.test.tsx` - `pnpm build` ## Risks - A missing asset path can show the deterministic letter fallback. - Brand SVG colors use the documented asset allowlist because provider marks cannot use product theme tokens. - The change does not add a database migration. > I checked `ROADMAP.md`. This stack continues the existing app connection work from #11965 and does not duplicate another planned item. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-5. feat(apps): add Composio and Gmail connectors (#12342)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - App connections need both direct providers and managed provider hubs. > - The grant layer now defines safe credential ownership. > - Composio needs parent and child connection lifecycle rules, and Gmail needs governed setup. > - This pull request adds both connector families on the grant foundation. > - The benefit is broader app access without weakening credential isolation. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #11965 This is stack 4 of 11. It depends on stack 3 and replaces another reviewable part of #11965. ## What Changed - Add Composio parent and child connection support. - Add Gmail connection setup and governance. - Preserve credential paths and remove duplicate binding declarations. - Cascade Composio pause and restore actions to child connections. ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/tool-access-service.test.ts` - Result: 164 tests passed. - `pnpm build` ## Risks - Parent lifecycle changes can affect every Composio child. - The service restores only children whose provider accounts remain active. - Credential binding paths are normalized before secret resolution. > I checked `ROADMAP.md`. This stack continues the existing app connection work from #11965 and does not duplicate another planned item. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-5. feat(apps): add connection grants and delegated identities (#12341)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - External tools need explicit identity and access boundaries. > - Shared connection credentials cannot represent every user-scoped use case. > - Grants must stay company-scoped and support safe delegation. > - This pull request adds connection grants, identity rules, and their database contract. > - The benefit is durable control over which identity an agent may use. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #11965 This is stack 3 of 11. It depends on stack 2 and replaces another reviewable part of #11965. ## What Changed - Add company and user connection grants. - Add delegated identity and membership rules. - Synchronize database, shared, server, and UI contracts. - Register the grant-member replacement route in the OpenAPI surface in the same layer that mounts it. - Add migration 0231 with replay-safe guards and coverage. ## Verification - `pnpm -r typecheck` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/tool-access-service.test.ts` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/openapi-routes.test.ts` (5 passed) - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/db check:migrations` - `pnpm build` ## Risks - Incorrect grant selection could expose the wrong credential scope. - The service enforces company and subject boundaries before credential use. - Migration 0231 is generated, ordered after 0230, and safe to replay. > I checked `ROADMAP.md`. This stack continues the existing app connection work from #11965 and does not duplicate another planned item. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-5. feat(apps): improve gateway and workspace connection UX (#12340)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - App connections must work in both the operator UI and agent tool gateway. > - The first stack layer adds secure remote connections. > - Operators still need clear setup, test, and recovery states. > - This pull request adds the gateway behavior and the workspace connection experience. > - The benefit is a connection flow that is easier to understand and recover. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #11965 This is stack 2 of 11. It depends on stack 1 and replaces another reviewable part of #11965. ## What Changed - Improve remote tool gateway connection behavior. - Add clearer app setup, test, and recovery states. - Add focused server and UI tests for the new paths. - Keep the diff isolated from later identity and catalog work. - Stabilize DNS-pinned remote HTTP protocol fixtures and the managed-runtime public-origin fixture for this independently tested layer. ## Verification - `pnpm -r typecheck` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/tool-access-service.test.ts` (150 passed) - `pnpm test:run` - `pnpm check:token-gates` - `pnpm build` ## Risks - Gateway errors now surface through new user-facing states. - A stale connection can require a new setup attempt. - The change does not add a database migration. - The injected HTTP transport and public URL are test-only fixtures; production DNS pinning and runtime behavior are unchanged. > I checked `ROADMAP.md`. This stack continues the existing app connection work from #11965 and does not duplicate another planned item. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-5.
