2ccc7d37ef feat(ui): retain approved reads across outage reloads (#18825)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip lets people manage agent work through the board.
> - The board already retains loaded reads during a temporary server
failure.
> - Reloading the page removes that in-memory data.
> - A deploy can then leave a returning user without the shell or recent
tasks.
> - This pull request saves an explicit, limited set of reads in the
browser.
> - Cached identity supports display while fresh session checks protect
writes.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**What happened?**
A reload during an API outage loses the board's loaded reads. An
automatic worker update can also reload a hidden tab while a write is
pending.

**Expected behavior**
Show the cached shell and recent tasks during a temporary outage. Limit
saved content by user, company, age and build. Clear it on sign-out.
Wait for a fresh session before sending account-bound writes. Defer
automatic reloads while work is pending.

**Steps to reproduce**
Open a task and settings while online. Return 503 from the API and
reload. Restore the API. Sign out and confirm that saved query records
are gone. Discover a worker update while offline or during an autosave
and confirm that it waits.

Stacked on Refs #18822. Related durable-write foundation: Refs #17960.
The outage browser suite follows in a separate test PR.

## What Changed

- Persist an exact read allowlist through TanStack Query dehydration and
hydration. Save shell preferences, company/sidebar data, agent/project
lists, plugin UI metadata, the first inbox page, and 20 recent tasks.
Task UUID and identifier reads share one recent-task slot.
- Namespace records by user and company. Retain eligible reads across
normal memory garbage collection, expire each read after 24 hours, and
discard them after a build change. Unstamped builds disable hydration
and persistence while retaining sign-out cleanup. Use the existing
instance-wide plugin contribution query in the user's root record.
- Exclude session credentials and bootstrap data, embedded plan
documents, comments, preview work products, provider credentials and
environment values, browser capabilities, pairing data, other queries,
and mutations. Restore only display identity from session data. Preserve
safe agent provider/model display fields and configuration object
shapes. Apply the projection on save and restore.
- Clear saved reads on sign-out, cross-tab account changes, and
definitive session denial. Keep revocation working on plain HTTP without
crypto.randomUUID. Use per-user revocation revisions to reject delayed
writes and stale records. Preserve a newer account. Remove every
UUID/identifier projection and nested inbox copy of a denied task.
- Detach shared GETs when the account changes or signs out. Load
complete, freshly authorized agents before opening bulk settings from a
display-only roster. Retire a pending bulk-editor result or error when
row, select-all or clear changes the selection, including a
clear/reselect of the same agent.
- Require a fresh server lookup before account-bound writes, pending
task creation, or mounted autosaves resume. This includes automatic task
read receipts, inbox archives, workspace preferences and primary-agent
choices, with optimistic archive changes gated too. Cancel the old write
scope when the verified user changes. Release completed archives through
account-independent cleanup without restoring old cached rows; an old
operation cannot clear a newer hide flag. Retry unconfirmed read
receipts after a fresh session succeeds for the original account, and
remember confirmed receipts across refreshes. Track pending reads per
task so opening another task sends its receipt immediately; revisiting
reuses an outstanding receipt and its original account scope.
- Defer a hidden-tab worker reload until connectivity, mutations,
durable sends, and autosaves are safe. Synchronously count each
unresolved operation across online rate-limit retries. Release a
cancelled target’s unused dirty token when an editor changes tasks; keep
stored drafts, admitted saves and queued retries. Cover autosave
debounce, newer edits, navigation and undo.

## Verification

- Current head `fe4f682c879` is merge-ready: all 54 check runs completed
(52 successful, one skipped, one neutral), the legacy Snyk status is
successful, and both `ci / verify` and `ci / e2e` pass in run
`41752927822`. Greptile Apex reviewed this exact head at 5/5 with zero
unresolved threads; the branch has no merge conflicts. All three PRs now
meet the merge-ready bar; the stack remains unmerged pending operator
approval.
- Greptile Apex reviewed exact current head `fe4f682c879` at 5/5 with no
actionable findings and zero unresolved threads (summary updated
2026-11-04 at 01:24:40 UTC). Both settings-account and pending-selection
findings are fixed, replied to and resolved. The branch has no merge
conflicts. Current-head CI now passes in run `41752927822`.
- Seventeen new cases cover settings restored from actual saved query
records, matching/changed/signed-out identities, denied verification,
late crown responses without overwriting newer reads, and bulk-selection
changes during successful/failed reads. Sixteen fail the preceding
source and one preserves denial compatibility. Both settings paths reuse
the existing account-bound mutation guard; its optional explicit
QueryClient supports the workspace hook’s existing detached-host mode.
Primary-agent optimistic updates begin only after verification and
cleanup checks ownership and the cache revision.
- Earlier CI run `41749456480` on prior head `2cf7516f18c` has one real
server test failure: the owned-runtime case in
`idle-completed-history.test.ts` could not reach its HTTP child on port
34757 within 10 seconds (99 refused probes). Its other 1,829 cases pass
and three skip; the only other unsuccessful job is the downstream
`verify` gate. The exact selected case passes locally, and the entire
75-case file passes in 72.19 seconds on the exact `2cf7516f18c` source
tree with isolated PostgreSQL and a real child process on macOS
arm64/Node 25.6.1. The Linux CI startup cause remains unknown; these
local results are not a fix or CI acceptance. One failed-jobs retry with
debug logging was accepted on that unchanged head, then superseded by
the later settings fixes. Current-head CI remains required; no source
change was made for this failure.
- Current cache head `fe4f682c879`, based on read head `09d1db29dea` and
master `683fa4725e9`, passes all 1,198 focused tests across twenty-eight
files, UI typecheck, token gates and the enforcing query-error guard.
Dependent browser head `228c1b68d30` contains this exact application
source and passes standalone strict checking of all three browser specs.
Current-head CI now passes in run `41752927822`.
- Three new navigation regressions fail the preceding application source
and pass with the fix. They open three cached tasks before any receipt
resolves, leave the page before success or failure, revisit an
outstanding read without duplicating it, and recover an older failed
receipt after a fresh session succeeds while a later task remains
pending.
- The fixture repair passes all seven deadline integration cases and the
complete server typecheck, including the server test layer. The old
assertion deterministically fails at 23:59:06.888 UTC; its
one-second-old run also fails the first-second-of-day probe. The
corrected fixture passes noon and both midnight probes. The permanent
three-case coverage uses seeded 2099 clocks.
- Nine new cases cover archive success/failure after sign-out and
another account takes over, both mounted and unmounted; cleanup
ownership when a newer archive uses the same task; session-check 429
exhaustion followed by matching, changed or signed-out identity; and a
failed read receipt followed by a new session read. They verify no
old-cache restoration, toast or navigation, retained newer hide flags,
no failed-check loop and no duplicate confirmed receipt. Seven fail the
previous implementation; two compatibility cases retain account-change
suppression. Initial test error-constructor and query-notification
timing assumptions were corrected before the passing checks.
- The inherited skills/app error-priority fix passes all 60 affected
tests and UI typecheck on both application branches. Its twelve new
regression cases fail the preceding read implementation. The
persisted-cache suite includes 48 cases.
- Six new regressions fail against the preceding application source and
pass with the fix. Actual worker-update and mutation-cache listeners
cannot reload a hidden tab between online 429 retries; the original
create key survives, and the update reloads once after a receipt. Real
self-hosted and Cloud sign-out work without crypto.randomUUID, with
stamped and unstamped builds. Saved reads are removed and account write
scopes are invalidated. An initial test-fixture type annotation error
was corrected before the passing typecheck.
- The 48 cache tests cover actual five-minute memory GC, the 20-task
bound across saved and live reads, original 24-hour expiry, denial
before session verification, unstamped cleanup, cross-tab revocation and
delayed flushes. Private GETs cannot cross account transitions. Bulk
edits require complete current agent data. Undo releases the update
blocker while preserving the Saved indicator.
- All 23 built-UI outage/write/loading cases pass in 4.5 minutes on
exact integrated head `228c1b68d30`, containing current cache revision
`fe4f682c879`: ten outage, six durable-write and seven loading cases.
The run uses bundled Chromium, the built UI, a fresh local-trusted
server and isolated embedded PostgreSQL on macOS arm64/Node 25.6.1. All
three specs pass standalone strict TypeScript checking. Owned temporary
server and database stopped.
- Earlier browser runs exposed and fixed cached-header, native Storage
cleanup and replay/session defects. A prior run passed 21/22 because
real WebSockets contradicted the simulated HTTP outage; the fixture now
closes existing socket pairs and holds new sockets through the same
outage deadline. An older CI run exposed a disposed response in the
Inbox route callback; pre-navigation snapshots remove that lifetime, and
the current full run includes that repair. Earlier failures and their
diagnosis remain in the discussion. The current full run passes. Broader
historical workspace failures remain documented in Refs #18822; this
does not claim a clean full workspace suite.
- Current-head CI passes on `fe4f682c879`. Controlled local outages do
not complete hosted authentication or a real Cloud restart/deploy
acceptance.

## Risks

This deliberately saves task content on the local browser for up to 24
hours. The allowlist excludes credentials and ephemeral capabilities.
Local storage can be disabled or full; persistence then fails without
blocking the app. Restored data can be stale and never grants server
access. A user or access change clears cached account reads and
invalidates pending writes. The browser outage suite and real hosted
deploy acceptance remain release requirements. There are no migrations
or new dependencies.

## Model Used

OpenAI `gpt-6.1-sol` through Codex, with xhigh reasoning effort, tool
use, and code execution. The context window size is not exposed.

a3313f6944 fix(ui): complete read recovery and enforce query error rendering (#18822)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip lets people manage agent work through the board.
> - The board reads task, agent, settings, plugin, and run data from the
server.
> - A deploy can interrupt those reads after content is already visible.
> - Local error branches can replace that content with an error or show
raw codes.
> - This pull request moves the remaining reads to the shared recovery
behavior.
> - The query-error guard prevents new local error patterns from
returning.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**What happened?**
Loaded lists, settings, task panels, and manual reads could clear their
content or show errors during a server restart. Some reads also disabled
the shared retry policy.

**Expected behavior**
Keep loaded content during a temporary failure. Show the shared
connection banner. Retry reads after recovery. Replace content after a
real access denial or missing resource, with readable copy.

**Steps to reproduce**
Open a task, settings page, or run log. Return 503 with
`tenant_app_unavailable` from the API. Restore the API and check that
content refreshes. Repeat with 403 and 404 to check the failure state.

Related merged work: Refs #15754, Refs #15772, Refs #17960. This change
covers remaining reads and enforcement. Browser persistence and the
outage browser suite follow separately.

## What Changed

- Repair an existing PostgreSQL deadline fixture at UTC boundaries. A
daily cap defers a heartbeat until both its original interval and the
next UTC day allow it. Keep the counted run in its seeded day and cover
noon, just before midnight and the first second after midnight with
explicit clocks and real PostgreSQL. Production scheduling is unchanged.

- Integrate the saved list, settings, shell, task, and manual-read
recovery changes against current master. Preserve the current task,
Inbox, and run-log structure.
- Add `useResilientFetch` for component-local reads. Preserve loaded
data, cancel stale requests, and retry through the shared connectivity
policy. Keep browser and pairing capabilities in memory.
- Retain run log chunks across stream changes and catch up after
recovery without duplicate chunks or stalled requests.
- Keep genuine authorization and missing-resource failures visible.
Translate known single-word codes such as `forbidden`. Show known skills
and disconnected-app failures before sibling loading states. Keep Retry
bound to its failed request.
- Make the query-error guard enforce by default and run it in the CI
policy job. Document the narrow exceptions and the read recovery
contract.
- Invalidate pending OAuth discovery when the operator leaves setup or
its context changes. Keep reserved-popup cleanup bound to the current
attempt.

## Verification

- Current read head `09d1db29dea` is merge-ready: all 59 check runs are
completed (54 successful, three skipped, two neutral), the legacy Snyk
status is successful, and both required `ci / verify` and `ci / e2e`
gates pass. Greptile Apex reviewed this exact head at 5/5 with no
unresolved threads; the branch has no merge conflicts. The current CI
run is `41748339602`.
- Current read head `09d1db29dea` includes master `683fa4725e9`. The
latest change touches only the existing server deadline test fixture.
Application source remains the previously verified `86376fa751e`
revision: all 60 affected skills/disconnected-app tests and both
application UI typechecks passed, along with token gates and the
enforcing query-error guard. Those UI suites were not repeated for this
test-only repair.
- Twelve new regressions fail against the previous implementation. Both
skills variants and disconnected-app pages show either request's 403 or
429 while the sibling pauses or remains fetching. Permission failures
stay visible. Retry stays usable for its failed request and recovers
independently. An initial test-fixture query-key typo was corrected
before the passing run. The finding is replied to and resolved. Greptile
reviewed prior application revision `86376fa751e` at 5/5 with no new
actionable findings or unresolved threads. The current test-only head
has now received its own Apex 5/5 review with no unresolved threads, and
its CI is successful as recorded above.
- The preceding OAuth fix passed all 237 setup tests on both application
branches. Its ten regressions prove that Back, Cancel, unmount, or
context changes retire initial discovery without creating a connection,
caching old identities, navigating an abandoned popup, or closing a
newer attempt.
- Earlier master integration `e992f770339` passed all 309 tests across
eight affected Slack, recovery, retry, submission and task files, plus
UI typecheck, token gates, enforcing query-error scan and seven guard
tests. The integration preserves Slack workspace reconnect and shared
recovery, readable execution errors, source-inspection company scoping,
and current submission behavior. Newly inherited retained-file recovery
controls keep cached data through transient failures and hide it after
definitive denial.
- The preceding cache head `97c0bc3966f` passed 1,038 focused
cache/write/editor/account/task/API tests. All 22 built-UI
outage/write/loading cases passed in 4.7 minutes on exact browser head
`b7deaaee5da`, with strict checking of all three specs. The latest
skills/app rendering fix is covered by its affected component suites;
those broader cases were not repeated for this separate read path.
- Historical broader UI, CLI and build results and unresolved aggregate
server/DB/adapter failures remain in the PR discussion. Interrupted CI
runs were audited and recorded separately; they are not counted as
passes. Controlled local outages do not prove hosted authentication or a
real Cloud restart/deploy. Real hosted acceptance remains required after
merge and deployment.

Commands for the latest fix:

```sh
pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui exec vitest run src/pages/CompanySkills.test.tsx src/pages/apps/AppNotConnected.test.tsx
pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck
pnpm check:token-gates
node scripts/check-query-error-rendering.mjs --enforce --summary
```

## Risks

This migration touches many read surfaces. The main risks are initial
loading, request cancellation, retained authorization state, and run-log
paging. The tests cover those states. There are no server, schema,
dependency, or API contract changes. The follow-up browser suite and
hosted deploy acceptance are required before release acceptance.

Recovered commits retain their original authors. If squash-merging,
preserve `Co-Authored-By: Bender (Fable) <bender@agents.paperclip.ing>`
and the Paperclip trailer.

## Model Used

OpenAI `gpt-6.1-sol` through Codex, with xhigh reasoning effort, tool
use, and code execution. The context window size is not exposed. Saved
source commits keep their original authorship.

Devin FoleyandPaperclip 49b3804830 fix(connections): load permissions and show AI account identity (#18653)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip manages AI agents and their access to saved connections.
> - The Permissions page loads account details and permitted agent
choices.
> - Company-wide AI accounts repeat retained installation checks for
every candidate agent.
> - This makes target checks grow with the square of the roster size.
> - The browser waits without a deadline, and connection names do not
identify the provider login.
> - This pull request batches direct AI checks and bounds loading with
recovery controls.
> - Account details load separately and show a provider email or an
explicit profile-permission limit.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**What happened?**

Opening a saved AI account can leave Permissions on “Loading AI
account…” for minutes. The account itself can be connected. The existing
capability batch excludes AI connections, so a company-wide install
repeats checks for every installed agent for every candidate. Saved
names and Paperclip ownership also do not establish which provider login
a credential uses.

**Expected behavior**

Direct AI accounts reuse retained-target checks within one descriptive
request. The page shows loaded account controls or a bounded failure
with Retry. Permissions shows the provider email and organization when
the selected credential permits profile access. An unavailable profile
must not block maintenance or disconnect a working inference credential.
Writes still authorize current permissions.

**Steps to reproduce**

1. Save an AI account in a company with several agents.
2. Install the account company-wide.
3. Open its Permissions page.
4. Delay the account-list or grants response to exercise the loading
failure.

The maintained benchmark reproduces database work with synthetic local
data. Refs #17945, which added batching for non-AI connections. Searches
found no open PR for this AI-account loading fix.

## What Changed

- Include direct AI accounts in the existing board capability batch.
Referenced pool members, delegated actors, complex selectors, and
mutation authorization keep their existing evaluator.
- Add opt-in per-caller GET deadlines to the API client. A timed-out
caller detaches the stuck coalesced request so Retry starts a fresh
fetch. Other callers retain their own cancellation and results.
- Apply a 15-second deadline to AI account lists and grants reads. The
permissions view retries transient failures once and reports other
failures immediately.
- Share the parent Permissions grants query with AI account details.
Keep loaded controls visible after a background error and offer Retry.
- Add a grant-scoped identity GET and OpenAPI contract. The service
checks current membership and credential audience before it reads the
selected credential. It projects only the provider email and
organization; provider IDs, tokens, and raw errors stay private.
- Show account details independently of maintenance controls. Anthropic
profile denial has an explicit message and preserves connected status.
Transient profile failures have a separate Retry action. Observations
are cached for five minutes under the company, connection, grant, and
grant revision.
- Extend real PostgreSQL and authenticated HTTP coverage,
client/component regressions, map guidance, and the existing benchmark's
AI mode.
- Address the Apex file-size finding by moving gallery identity lookup
into the existing app display helper module. `AppDetail.tsx` is 984
lines; lookup behavior is unchanged.

## Verification

Local source checkout on macOS, Node 25.6.1, pnpm 9.15.4, and disposable
PostgreSQL 18.1. Provider calls use fixtures. No hosted deployment or
provider qualification is claimed.

- Passed `pnpm -r typecheck` and `pnpm build`.
- Passed all 87 tests in `connection-management.integration.test.ts` and
all 33 tests in `connection-install-capabilities.test.ts`.
- Passed 196 AI connection, identity-provider, and OpenAPI tests:
`ai-connections.test.ts`, `ai-account-identity.test.ts`, and
`openapi-routes.test.ts`.
- Passed 107 focused UI/client tests: `client.test.ts`,
`ManagedAiConnectionDetails.test.tsx`,
`AiConnectionAccountDetails.test.tsx`, and `AppDetail.test.tsx`.
- After the Apex extraction, passed UI typecheck/build and 106 component
tests across `AppDetail.test.tsx`, `AppNotConnected.test.tsx`,
`ManagedAiConnectionDetails.test.tsx`, and
`AiConnectionAccountDetails.test.tsx`.
- The authenticated HTTP tests compare complete grants responses across
human roles, for tool and AI connections. They verify a real install
mutation succeeds before revocation and fails afterward.
- A company-wide personal AI fixture checks 20 targets instead of 400.
Pool-member permission loss still denies the complete pool description.
- UI states covered: shared cached grants, stuck account/grants fetches,
one automatic retry, terminal failure, manual recovery, authorization
failure, background failure with retained controls, and unmount
cancellation. Client tests also cover stalled response bodies and
independent coalesced callers.
- Identity coverage includes actual bearer-key/JWT reads, private-user
and cross-company denial before provider access, revoked credentials,
provider 401/403/429/500, and grant-change isolation. A real local HTTP
fixture stalls the response body, verifies the shared 15-second
deadline, and keeps unrelated HTTP requests responsive. The test
shortens the native deadline to 100 ms. Profile permission denial leaves
the saved account connected.
- Passed `pnpm check:token-gates`, `node scripts/check-maps.mjs`, `node
scripts/check-module-boundaries.mjs`, and `git diff --check`.
- The full local `pnpm test:run` started with the loading-only change.
All six chat shards passed. It recorded one failure in the unchanged
`heartbeat-retry-scheduling.test.ts` quota-rejection case. That exact
case passed a focused rerun on the final head. The initial failure cause
remains unconfirmed and its local log is retained; this is not a full
local-suite pass. The redundant local run was stopped with SIGINT after
final-head CI completed successfully.
- [Final-head
CI](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/41515556725)
passed on `ead8d276d4a2023614fff54b3e9a858f28c3178b`: typecheck, build,
all 12 server shards, all 3 chat shards, workspace suites, all 9
serialized suites, all 8 end-to-end shards, Runner checks, and the
aggregate verify gate. Security checks passed. Optional Storybook checks
were skipped by workflow policy. GitHub reports the branch mergeable
without conflicts.
- Apex reviewed head `ead8d276d4a2023614fff54b3e9a858f28c3178b` at 5/5,
confirmed the extraction resolves its earlier file-size finding, and has
no unresolved review threads.

The existing benchmark ran for the loading-only change now recorded in
commit `5f725b36fa52002545241a5a8b7a10602f0cc0ce`, with `--purpose=ai
--baseline-ref=026fd9e3452`. The identity follow-up leaves that batch
source unchanged. Two warmups and five alternating samples exercise each
of eight fixture shapes. Complete positional capabilities, reasons, and
operations match the baseline in every sample.

| AI fixture | SQL calls before → after | Target reads before → after |
| --- | ---: | ---: |
| 1 agent, company install | 9 → 9 | 1 → 1 |
| 32 agents, company install | 5,248 → 164 | 1,024 → 32 |
| 100 agents, company install | 50,400 → 504 | 10,000 → 100 |
| 100 agents, partial install | 13,175 → 503 | 2,575 → 100 |

These counts measure the real service over local PostgreSQL. They do not
predict hosted page latency. To reproduce the standalone benchmark, use
a checkout of commit `5f725b36fa52002545241a5a8b7a10602f0cc0ce` and run
the command below. Its isolation check intentionally rejects the later
identity follow-up's additional runtime changes.

```sh
node --import ./server/node_modules/tsx/dist/esm/index.mjs scripts/benchmark-connection-install-capabilities.ts --purpose=ai --baseline-ref=026fd9e3452
```

Run the final-head regression suites from the repository root:

## Risks

Descriptive permissions reuse retained facts within one request. A
concurrent change can leave a displayed choice stale; the next request
and every write still authorize fresh. Pools with referenced members
retain their existing cost.

The account and grants clients now bound each caller's wait. A browser
abort does not cancel an authorization read already admitted by the
server. The independent profile request uses a fixed Anthropic origin, a
bounded body, no redirects, and a 15-second deadline. Inference-only
credentials can return no email; that is reported without guessing from
a Paperclip owner or changing connection health. Profiles are fetched
only for the caller's authorized selected grant. No ambient CLI
identity, persistent identity cache, background polling, or
billing-identity change is added. Other API reads keep their existing
behavior. No migration is required. Staging has not been redeployed.

DottaandPaperclip e40de0c9e8 perf(ci): refresh test weights and narrow graph dependencies (#18464)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - Contributors need fast, reliable CI feedback.
> - Diff-aware CI selects test files and partitions them into runner
jobs.
> - Stale cost estimates put several slow suites on the same runner.
Broad imports also couple small tests to large modules.
> - This PR refreshes test costs, runs independent graph discovery in
parallel, and narrows three dependency boundaries.
> - Selection safeguards and CODEOWNER-only AWS routing stay in force.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

Refs #18398. This follows the audit of [PR #18427's verification
run](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/41169978784).

The audit found 403 selected general-server files without timing
weights. Three suites measured at 232s, 122s and 116s shared one shard
because each received a roughly 2s fallback weight. Local graph
discovery across four projects took 43.7s serially and 21.7s with two
workers. A reverse-order repeat took 37.7s serially and 22.6s with two
workers. Both comparisons produced identical selection results. This is
a local measurement, not a claim about production CI speed.

## What Changed

- Refresh general-server costs for 1,285 of 1,309 current files and
serialized costs for all 163 files from two successful protected-master
Cloud readiness runs. Retain prior costs for unmeasured files, including
dedicated chat and native-runner suites.
- Record passing server file costs, including collection, setup and
environment preparation. A weekly hosted workflow validates trusted
source runs and opens a timing-only PR. It tests shard coverage, pauses
while a refresh PR is open, and never merges automatically.
- Discover at most two project graphs concurrently in isolated,
heap-limited Node processes. Cache repeated inventory reads within one
selection. Worker errors and timeouts retain the full task plan.
- Fetch only the merge commit and parents for the selector. A real
shallow-clone regression proves the complete diff still includes more
than 300 files, renames and deletions.
- Share the identical log viewer and run details between both
AgentDetail pages. The viewer test imports the shared implementation and
runs each of its 13 distinct cases once.
- Extract the pure API error class while preserving the API client's
public exports. Import delivery work signals through their existing
narrow DB export.

## Verification

- PASS: `pnpm -r typecheck` and `pnpm build`.
- PASS: 284 CI selection, timing, shallow-diff, sharding and routing
tests.
- PASS: 74 further cache, routing and graph-proof tests.
- PASS: 94 targeted UI assertions across the viewer, run invocation, API
errors/client and progress helpers. All 76 assertions in the 12 server
suites made independently selectable also pass.
- PASS: `pnpm check:token-gates`, module-boundary checks, YAML parsing
and `git diff --check`.
- PASS: [Full PR CI and required `ci / verify`
aggregate](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/41206683345),
including all 12 general-server shards, all nine serialized shards,
workspace groups, chat suites, Runner lanes and build checks.
- PASS: [GitHub hosted real-workspace selector and cache/routing
qualification](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/41206683205).
- PASS: Both Greptile and Paperclip reviews are 5/5 with no actionable
findings or inline comments on `7dc65c51b8`. The PR has no merge
conflicts.
- PASS: The production refresh parser accepted all 107 structured
file-cost records from a real successful server CI job, including
setup/loading cost.
- Local `pnpm test:run` completed all six chat shards successfully. The
duplicate monolithic local run was stopped after the complete remote
suite passed; it was not completed locally.

The focused log-viewer command improved from 18.84s (26 duplicate
variant cases) to 8.49s (all 13 distinct behavior cases). The dependency
audit confirms 12 server files and the API-error test no longer need
conservative always-run retention. Repartitioning the audited PR with
the new costs changes the slowest shard from 810s to 591s of summed
historical test execution (1,124 of 1,142 files measured). This is a
workload simulation, not measured new CI wall time.

## Risks

- Two graph processes use more peak memory. Each has a 2 GiB heap limit
and a three-minute timeout. Any failure preserves the original task
plan. Real workspace qualification runs in GitHub CI.
- Historical logs contain test/hook costs only. New reporter records add
loading/setup costs after merge. The manifests identify measurement
coverage and source runs. These weights change placement, never
permission to skip tests.
- Runner load adds timing noise. The refresh uses medians and requires
at least 90% measurement coverage in each lane.
- GitHub may require approval to run checks on a PR created with
`GITHUB_TOKEN`. Refreshes remain reviewable and do not merge themselves.
- The shared viewer is a mechanical extraction. Both pages retain their
existing exports, and the behavior assertions remain covered. AWS runner
authorization is unchanged.

## Model Used

OpenAI Codex, GPT-6, with repository inspection, reasoning, code
execution and GitHub tools. The exact deployment ID and context-window
size were not exposed in this session.

39279aa34f feat(ui): shared error, connectivity and query foundation for disconnects (#15754)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - The board reads API data and keeps the current task on screen.
> - A restart or temporary network failure can interrupt those reads.
> - Separate page error handlers can hide cached data or expose raw
server codes.
> - The app needs one connection state, readable error copy and a
consistent read policy.
> - This change provides that foundation and moves affected read
surfaces onto it.
> - The dependent write layer in #17960 preserves edits and submissions
across the same failures.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**What happened?**

Temporary API failures could replace loaded content with errors.
Different surfaces handled the same outage differently. Some showed raw
server codes. A successful query to an unrelated service could also
falsely report that Paperclip had recovered.

**Expected behavior**

Keep cached content visible. Show one connection banner during sustained
trouble. Confirm recovery through the Paperclip health probe or its
WebSocket. Retry transient reads and show readable errors for permanent
failures.

**Steps to reproduce**

1. Open a populated task or workspace page.
2. Interrupt API requests with a 503 or a dropped connection.
3. Keep an unrelated external request in flight.
4. Confirm that cached content remains and that the external result
cannot clear the outage.
5. Restore the API and check that reads refresh.

The write layer first merged into this feature branch in #15769 now has
its own dependent PR, #17960. This PR contains the shared foundation and
read changes. Merge this PR first.

## What Changed

- Classify API errors and provide readable error copy, including
non-JSON proxy responses and Retry-After handling.
- Use one connection store and health probe with bounded backoff.
Confirm recovery from the server health probe or live-updates WebSocket.
- Pause reads while disconnected, retry transient errors, and refresh
active reads after recovery.
- Keep cached data visible through shared query views and affected page,
panel and plugin read surfaces.
- Add one app-level connection banner and support the pending-write
count consumed by the dependent write layer.
- Add a query-error rendering guard. Call it directly from the existing
CI step. Update development documentation.

## Verification

- Historical-chat lookup now follows the same ready/stale roster state
as rendering. Three regressions fail before the fix; the six new cases
pass after it, including working Retry, fresh data, no-cache error,
permanent 403 and company isolation. All six focused query/recovery
suites pass 200 tests. Final-commit CI passes and Apex is 5/5 with no
unresolved findings. Canary Dry Run initially refused a preview version
that was already on npm. It passed after one rerun with fresh registry
metadata; no check was disabled.

- Integrated current master and retained both transcript interest
registration and connectivity reporting on socket open. The seven
focused recovery/query suites pass 288 tests, and UI typecheck and
production build pass. All 9,451 UI tests across 799 files pass on the
merge commit. Final-commit CI passes and Apex is 5/5 with no unresolved
findings.

- Current head `70d9335d732219352ef0f98414439766bbcb33df`: all hosted CI
checks pass. Apex is **5/5** on that head with no unresolved findings.
The branch has no merge conflict. GitHub still requires code-owner
approval.

- The foundation passes 9,430 UI tests in 804 files. After integrating
current master page paths, 190 focused page tests pass.
- Two unrelated-success regressions fail before the latest fix. With the
fix, 62 focused UI tests, all six guard tests and UI TypeScript pass.
- The composed foundation and write layer pass **9,505 UI tests in 808
files**, UI TypeScript, a production UI build, and query-error, token
and map guards.
- A real Chromium journey on the composed source injects a 503 during
title save. The loaded task stays visible; one reconnect banner appears;
the edit saves after recovery; another task stays unchanged; the saved
title survives reload.
- Full recursive local checks were not repeated because Runner
compilation exhausted local disk during another repair. Hosted checks
must pass before merge. No new staging deployment is claimed.

- Latest review follow-up: a cached CaseDetail now survives a failed
HTTP 429 refresh. Its page regression fails before the fix and passes
after it. Eighty focused foundation tests, UI TypeScript, build and
guards pass after that change.
- Earlier CI evidence is retained: several foundation jobs received a
runner shutdown signal together. The write-layer head also failed an
unchanged Runner descriptor close test with `provider_transport_failed`.
The same Runner source passed that suite in the foundation run. New CI
runs cover the updated heads; no check or assertion was weakened.

## Risks

- Shared retry defaults change the time before transient read errors
appear. Permanent errors still fail promptly.
- ApiError.message now contains readable copy. Callers that compare raw
codes must use ApiError.code.
- Cache success can come from another service or local data. It must not
confirm Paperclip recovery.
- Durable writes are reviewed separately in #17960. This PR does not
change database or mutation contracts.

## Model Used

Anthropic Claude Opus 5.5 (`claude-opus-5-5`) produced the original work
with tool use. OpenAI Codex, GPT-6 family, assisted with restoration,
integration, tests and review fixes. The Codex session does not expose
its exact serving model ID or context window size.

DottaandPaperclip dabb8c5daf test: remove repeated setup and strengthen regression proof (#16022)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - Its tests protect company boundaries, approvals, durable tasks,
credentials and the board UI.
> - Several owner suites repeat large database fixtures and render
frames.
> - Some tests repeat stronger proof or pass when the behavior they
describe is broken.
> - This pull request shares exact setup, removes proven duplicate cases
and repairs weak observations.
> - It preserves distinct security, lifecycle, concurrency and
user-facing contracts.
> - The benefit is 5,027 fewer test lines and stronger regression
checks.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

Refs #15978. This continues the merged test-audit cleanup in [PR
#15978](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/15978), which
removed 11,976 test/support lines. The savings in this pull request are
additional.

Related open work: [PR
#13460](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/13460) changes
legacy OAuth parent/version lock ordering. This pull request retains
those production paths and the existing lock-order test. Its secrets
changes compact fixtures and repair the two AWS wrapper exclusion
observations.

Scoped title searches found no open duplicate audit or
fixture-consolidation PR and no matching audit issue. The problem is
described here using the enhancement template.

**What existing behavior does this improve?**

The maintenance and regression value of the existing server, UI, CLI,
shared and wiki-plugin test suites.

**Subsystem affected**

Cross-cutting test code. Two UI modules also lose unused test inspection
exports.

**Current behavior**

Owner tests repeat database rows, service inputs, HTTP setup and render
frames. Some cases repeat stronger assertions. Two AWS lock tests record
only cleanup events, so an AWS provider write can happen inside the held
lock without failing those observations. Several other negative tests
accept or do not observe the wrong result. Worktree fixtures also use a
temporary path alias that conflicts with the existing canonical-path
checks on macOS.

**Proposed behavior**

Use small local helpers that preserve exact inputs, fresh allocations,
callbacks, query order and await positions. Remove only cases with named
stronger keepers. Tighten negative assertions and observe actual AWS
provider entry while a confirmed lock holder remains parked. Resolve
temporary fixture roots to their canonical paths.

**Reason and benefit**

Remove 5,027 net test lines and 15 redundant registered executions.
Remove 11 lines of unused UI inspection exports. Keep every distinct
company, actor, approval, credential, persistence, stale-write and
concurrency contract. No wall-time speedup is claimed for setup
compaction.

**Breaking changes**

None for application behavior, APIs or stored data. The removed exports
expose private UI test state and have no remaining callers.

## What Changed

- Consolidate repeated runtime, workspace, portability, route,
tool-access, policy, gateway and state-service fixtures.
- Share repeated UI render frames and CLI/wiki-plugin setup while
retaining the original actions and expected results.
- Remove 15 repeated case executions only where the audit records an
exact stronger keeper.
- Repair weak HTTP/UI negative assertions and two AWS account-home lock
observations. Keep the existing durable results and cleanup behavior.
- Remove the unused `__inflightGetCount` and `__secondTickInternals`
inspection exports. Keep observable request coalescing and ticker
lifecycle checks.
- Canonicalize temporary worktree fixture paths without weakening
production path checks.
- Record the owner decisions, savings, independent preservation reviews
and validation in [the dated audit
report](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/blob/58c5c4aa241c85f4665a3159c192888bbb2a5cfa/doc/plans/2026-10-12-test-audit-rounds.md)
and [the compact control
evidence](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/blob/58c5c4aa241c85f4665a3159c192888bbb2a5cfa/doc/plans/2026-10-12-test-audit-controls.json).

## Verification

- Complete owner and retained-sibling baselines passed before each audit
cutover. Independent reviewers checked the full original tests, actual
helper bodies, exact inputs, receipt provenance, async order, fresh
allocations and case registrations.
- All 14 UI/route/wiki mutations failed at their intended assertions:
ten UI/API/ticker controls, one route control and three wiki
persistence/receipt controls. Each mutated production source was
restored to its exact original bytes.
- Both old AWS lock tests passed with their respective AWS-only lock
bypass. Both repaired tests failed at the intended assertions with the
same bypasses. These give 16 intended failures and two passing weak
controls across 18 executions. Each source was restored exactly.
- Final complete state-owner/sibling run: 329/329 passed at code
revision `64370831ebe191e5ce092f85f79b6fb661df7e16`.
- Final `pnpm -r typecheck`, `pnpm check:token-gates` and `pnpm build`:
passed at the same code revision.
- Delivery head `58c5c4aa241c85f4665a3159c192888bbb2a5cfa` includes the
evidence commit and master `4b766b872993045a2e787404f0475503683e5ded`.
All 27 audited test files and both application files match the locally
verified code revision byte-for-byte. Current-head CI validates the
integrated branch, including the incoming master changes.
- All eight production-owner SHA guards for the 16 deliberate failing
mutation controls still match the integrated delivery checkout. The
mutation receipts therefore apply to those current owners.
- Full default `pnpm test:run`: **failed** with exit 1 at frozen code
revision `64370831ebe191e5ce092f85f79b6fb661df7e16`; HEAD and tracked
source bytes remained unchanged. The first general-server group reported
878 passing files, four failing files and six skipped files; 17,846
passing cases, 24 failing cases and 105 skipped cases. Later groups did
not run. Failures were `http-log-redaction` (socket hangup),
`public-mcp` (initial 15-second timeout followed by hosted token
“Refresh before subscribing” failures), `remove-test-home` (macOS
`ENOTEMPTY` where permission errors were expected, plus cleanup
failure), and `workspace-git-snapshot-streaming` (300-second timeout).
All four failing test files and the relevant cleanup/MCP production
owners are unchanged by this audit. Full local success is not claimed.
- Focused complete-owner diagnosis at the same frozen revision: 149/152
passed, three failed, zero skipped. `public-mcp` passed 82/82 and
`http-log-redaction` passed 66/66 unchanged. The two `remove-test-home`
cases reproduced macOS `ENOTEMPTY` against an expected `EACCES`/`EPERM`
contract; the 32 MiB workspace snapshot case reproduced its existing
300,000 ms timeout. HEAD and tracked files stayed clean. Exact blob
comparison confirmed all four test files and the relevant cleanup/MCP
owners match both inspected master
`4b766b872993045a2e787404f0475503683e5ded` and the frozen local
revision. The three remaining local failures are unresolved; no timeout,
retry or assertion was weakened.
- Current-head CI: [workflow
38299262149](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/38299262149)
has passed runner selection and created all downstream
test/typecheck/build gates; those gates are queued, with no failures
reported. Greptile completed successfully at
`58c5c4aa241c85f4665a3159c192888bbb2a5cfa` with [5/5 and zero
comments](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/16022#issuecomment-6131457592).
All review threads are resolved or absent. This pull request will remain
open after verification.

Reviewers can reproduce the required workspace checks:

```sh
pnpm -r typecheck
pnpm check:token-gates
pnpm test:run
pnpm build
```

Browser suites were not run. Their sources and user journeys are
unchanged by this audit.

## Risks

- A fixture helper can hide a specialized input or change object
freshness. Full-program expansion checks and independent reviews
preserve the exact old inputs and execution order.
- Removing duplicate proof can remove a distinct contract by mistake.
The audit records the keeper for each deletion; all distinct security
and lifecycle cases remain.
- Concurrency checks can miss progress during a fixed delay. The AWS
repairs record actual provider entry, confirm holder entry, use measured
entry windows, require exact final event order and drain both operations
in `finally`.
- The full local default run failed. Focused diagnosis reproduced two
macOS cleanup failures and one existing snapshot timeout in unchanged
owners; these remain unresolved. Current-head CI is pending. No test
deadline, retry policy, skip or CI shard was weakened to obtain a pass.

DottaandPaperclip d432dc7fa3 Add GitHub-synced skill sources (#14713)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - Company skills supply instructions and files to those agents.
> - GitHub imports already exist, but users cannot manage repositories
as skill sources.
> - Repository refresh also needs caller-authorized access and complete
local packages.
> - This pull request adds Sources inside Skills and reuses GitHub
connections from Apps.
> - Installed snapshots let agents use skills without fetching GitHub
during a run.
> - Manual refresh preserves skill identity and leaves failed imports on
their last good version.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**Subsystem affected**

Cross-cutting: skills UI, server, database, shared contracts, and
runtime materialization.

**Problem or motivation**

Users keep skills in GitHub repositories. They need a clear way to
select, import, and refresh those skills. Existing imports do not expose
repository management or consistently preserve supporting files.

**Proposed solution**

Add company-scoped skill sources. Browse repositories from all
accessible GitHub connections, or paste a public repository or branch
URL. Select whole skill packages, inspect included files and reference
warnings, and install complete, immutable snapshots. Refresh each source
manually.

**Alternatives considered**

Project repository settings hide the workflow from Skills. A second
GitHub connector would duplicate credentials and grants. Upstream
editing and PR creation are separate work.

**Roadmap alignment**

This implements the Skills Manager direction in ROADMAP.md. The
maintainer requested this scope and reviewed the component and full-app
journey stories before implementation.

## What Changed

- Add source and entry records, an idempotent migration, company-scoped
APIs, and legacy GitHub import adoption.
- Reuse current caller grants and credential refresh. Combine and
deduplicate repository inventories across accessible connections. Pasted
public URLs also prefer the active user’s authorized connections. Tokens
stay in the Git child environment, never argv or disk.
- Fetch a shallow Git snapshot at one immutable commit. Scan the full
local tree, including hidden and nested folders. Read Git objects
without checkout or archive transformations and enforce nested package
boundaries.
- Bound Git downloads to 128 MiB and three minutes. Cancel active
process groups and remove incomplete downloads. Preserve cancellation
and deadlines while progress drains; close stalled HTTP progress streams
after 30 seconds. Reuse caller-scoped temporary snapshots for
preview/import after reauthorization.
- Index repository package boundaries once and cap expanded work at
1,000 packages, 10,000 files, and 100 MiB, including repeated copies of
shared blobs. Bound path depth and the shared path index. Discovery
keeps audited manifests without retaining all package bodies.
- Resolve moving branches before fetching so unchanged discovery reuses
caller-scoped snapshots. Limit active scans, scan frequency, and new
downloads per caller and company; quotas apply before metadata reads and
across connections, and cached scans do not consume the download quota.
- Store complete versions with script content, binary bytes, and
executable modes. Preserve these through copies, runtime caches, and
runner packaging.
- Stage downloads before publication. Use source leases, revision
checks, and transactional activity records. Keep installed versions
after failures, upstream deletion, deselection, and disconnect.
- Add the approved import flow, Sources page, selection tree,
provenance, read-only Studio behavior, and saved return from GitHub
setup.
- Add package manifests, commit-pinned file previews, and separate
runtime requirements and reference warnings. Supporting files are
included together; nested skills remain independently selectable.
Preview requests reauthorize the caller and re-audit package content.
- Show installed skills as compact links beneath each source. Repository
titles open GitHub. Keep Refresh, Select skills, and Disconnect source
in a three-dot menu. Source rows omit the branch, imported count, and
refresh timestamp; action alignment and repository titles work at narrow
widths.
- Stream discovery metadata over an opt-in NDJSON response. Show
measured Git download progress and real package/file counts, animate
newly checked skills, support cancellation, and require a complete scan
before selection. Keep the existing JSON API.
- Retain component stories and add a separate full-app journey story
group. Include fixed progress states and interactive scan,
large-repository, interruption, and saving stories.
- Update Skills documentation and product contracts. Suppress private
GitHub skill references in telemetry. Privacy review requested for the
telemetry changes.

## Verification

- Local repository typecheck, full build, token gates, and Storybook
build passed during this work. Focused transport, authorization,
scanner, persistence, route, and UI tests pass. The final UI refinement
passes all eight focused UI tests, UI typecheck/build, and token gates.
The scanner resource and repeated-discovery fixes pass 132 focused
scanner, transport, authorization, source-service, route, and rate-limit
tests, plus server typecheck/build. Full-suite verification comes from
CI; the older full local Vitest run was stopped after unrelated chat
failures and a font-test failure, all of which passed in fresh focused
runs. At commit `1098d5996`, all 54 active checks pass; two optional
Storybook jobs are skipped. CI covers repository typecheck, build, the
full test suites, browser shards, and the canary dry run. Greptile is
5/5 with no open findings; the security scan also passes.
- Adversarial scanner tests verify repeated-blob byte accounting with
and without declared sizes, package/file/path caps, one-time repository
indexing, metadata-only discovery audits, and nested package boundaries.
Additional tests cover branch movement, snapshot reuse, caller/company
quotas, isolation across connections, active-lease cleanup, quota
recovery, and rejection before any metadata API call.
- Real Git tests verify hidden paths, exact binary bytes, executable
modes, export-ignore preservation, symlink/submodule reporting, pinned
commits, caller-scoped cache reuse, cancellation, cleanup, and
credential isolation. Regression tests hold both download slots with
permanently blocked progress callbacks, verify timeout/cancellation
cleanup and retry, and exercise HTTP backpressure cancellation. Access
tests cover automatic public-URL connection selection and revoked
grants. Database tests verify company and grant audiences.
- Live isolated browser test: the public `anthropics/skills` scan now
completes and discovers all 20 skills without connecting an account.
Imported canvas-design with all 83 files, opened it from Sources, and
verified the installed binary-font preview/download control. Package
previews also expose the complete file inventory before import.
Cancelled an active Git download and retried successfully to all 20
discovered skills; the browser displayed measured download progress. The
current audits reject four other packages; eligible selections remain
importable.
- Browser checks verify the simplified source rows at desktop and narrow
widths, keyboard navigation into the actions menu, Refresh from the
menu, selection, and fixture disconnect with installed skills retained.
Storybook includes a menu-open checkpoint and a 320px layout.
- Storybook includes receiving/preparing download checkpoints and a
timed full-app import journey, plus cancellation, retry,
large-repository, and saving states. Streaming tests cover split UTF-8
frames, incomplete streams, late responses, cross-company requests, HTTP
errors, and JSON compatibility.
- Earlier live acceptance on this PR imported `stitch-skill` with
`DESIGN.md`, assigned it to an agent, disconnected its source, and ran a
successful Studio test that read both installed files. An editable copy
changed independently. Both Skills variants, mobile selection, and
return from GitHub setup were exercised.
- Private access, revoked credentials, OAuth success return,
binary/script preservation, concurrent refresh, transaction rollback,
version pins, and legacy adoption have automated coverage. A real
private-repository OAuth grant was not created during this test.

## Risks

- The migration groups recognizable legacy imports without provider
calls. Their first successful refresh completes the local package
snapshot.
- Reference checks are advisory. They cover Markdown links and explicit
relative resource paths, not arbitrary runtime dependency graphs.
Preview text is capped at 64 KiB; imported bytes remain complete.
- Git must be installed on the server. Shallow fetches still download
the branch snapshot, including files outside selected packages.
Downloads have size/time/concurrency limits. Temporary caches are
bounded and caller-scoped. GitHub API quota still applies to repository
metadata and the connection picker; content no longer uses per-file API
requests. Failed scans retain installed content.
- Sources depend on the current caller's GitHub access. A saved
connection does not grant access to another person's token.
- GitHub script support and immediate manual refresh are explicit
maintainer-approved requirements. The operator trusts the selected
repository and accepts upstream script and executable-mode changes on
refresh. Static audits are not a sandbox or a guarantee of safe code;
agents may later invoke installed helpers under their runtime
permissions. Import and refresh do not execute scripts, hooks, package
installation, or builds. Raw URL and skills.sh imports keep their prior
script restrictions.
- Source originals remain read-only. Refresh affects subsequent unpinned
runs; explicit pins and active runs retain their versions.
- The telemetry change removes source-managed GitHub identifiers from
skill-reference events. It introduces no event or field. Please review
the privacy boundary.

Nicky LeachandPaperclip 60469a08e0 feat(agent-login): resume an active login session and permit concurrent login terminals (#12861)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - Agent authentication uses server sessions, plugin workers, and
browser login panels.
> - A page reload loses an active login session, and one worker permits
only one login terminal.
> - These limits cause lost work and prevent two owners from logging in
through one worker.
> - This pull request lets the browser resume active sessions and lets
workers serve concurrent login terminals.
> - The benefit is reliable login recovery with a bounded process-wide
route limit.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**What existing behavior does this improve?**

It improves agent credential login recovery and concurrent login
terminal handling.

**Subsystem affected**

Cross-cutting (multiple of the above).

**Current behavior**

A page reload loses the active login session. A shared plugin worker
rejects a second login terminal.

**Proposed behavior**

The browser reads and resumes the owner's active session. A worker
supports multiple login terminal routes under a process-wide ceiling.

**Reason and benefit**

Owners keep login progress after a reload. Two owners can log in through
one worker without removing the route limit.

**Breaking changes**

None. The change adds owner-scoped read routes and changes login
terminal concurrency.

## What Changed

- Replace the single worker login route with maps keyed by host route
and worker session identifiers.
- Add a process-wide login route ceiling and release each reserved slot
on every exit path.
- Add owner-scoped active-session reads with consistent negative
responses and private cache control.
- Keep the device-login prompt while the session has an active public
status.
- Add a durable setup-token cancel fallback for a lost in-memory
session.
- Resume active sessions when the agent configuration or onboarding
panel mounts.
- Remove routine unmount cancellation and keep explicit Cancel behavior.

## Verification

- `pnpm --filter @paperclip/server test` — server route, service, and
plugin-worker-manager suites.
- `pnpm --filter @paperclip/plugin-sdk test` — worker RPC host suite.
- `cd ui && npx vitest run
src/components/AgentConfigForm.render.test.tsx
src/components/OnboardingWizard.test.tsx`.
- `cd ui && npx tsc -b`.
- `tests/e2e/onboarding.spec.ts` — reload during login.
- CI must pass on this pull request.

## Risks

The change affects agent authentication and the sandbox-to-host
boundary. Route cleanup must release every reserved slot. Owner checks
must prevent cross-owner session access. Tests cover route cleanup,
owner scope, reload recovery, and concurrent worker routes.

## Model Used

Codex, OpenAI GPT-5, tool use and code review support. The
implementation author owns the exact model details for the code changes.

DottaandPaperclip 27622c156a fix(ui): recover expired Cloud tenant sessions (#12826)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - Paperclip Cloud serves each tenant through a browser session and an
HttpOnly cookie.
> - A parked tenant tab can outlive that tenant session.
> - The active SPA then receives a tenant-session 401 from its API calls
and shows the internal error code.
> - A page reload already enters the secure Cloud document and OIDC
handoff and keeps the requested tenant route.
> - This pull request detects only the two Cloud tenant-session 401
codes and starts that existing handoff once.
> - The benefit is that an expired tenant session recovers without
exposing tokens or showing temporary API errors.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**What happened?**

A Paperclip Cloud tenant tab can stay open after its HttpOnly tenant
session expires. The next API request returns `401
tenant_session_required` or `401 tenant_session_invalid`. The SPA shows
the internal error code in the full page or in sidebar data consumers. A
manual page refresh clears the error.

**Expected behavior**

The tenant tab must enter the existing Cloud session handoff when an API
request reports an expired tenant session. The handoff must keep the
current route and query. The UI must not show the internal
tenant-session error code.

**Steps to reproduce**

1. Open a Paperclip Cloud tenant route.
2. Keep the SPA open until the tenant session expires.
3. Let the page make an API request.
4. Observe the tenant-session 401 in the page or sidebar.
5. Refresh the page and observe that the existing Cloud handoff restores
the session.

**Paperclip version or commit**

The problem reproduces on `master` at commit `b5f862376`.

**Deployment mode**

Paperclip Cloud tenant deployment.

## What Changed

- Added one tenant-session recovery coordinator for exact top-level
Cloud error codes.
- Reloaded the top-level document once and shared one pending promise
across concurrent failures.
- Applied recovery before normal error handling in the shared API
client, auth API, and health API.
- Applied the same recovery to direct audit CSV exports and provider
trace downloads.
- Preserved ordinary self-hosted 401 behavior and avoided automatic
mutation replay.
- Added tests for exact detection, concurrent failures, auth-session
behavior, health bootstrap, and direct-fetch behavior.

## Verification

- `pnpm exec vitest run --config vitest.config.ts
src/lib/tenant-session-recovery.test.ts src/api/client.test.ts
src/api/auth.test.ts src/api/health.test.ts src/api/heartbeats.test.ts
src/api/audit.test.ts` from `ui/` — 30 tests passed.
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` — passed.
- `pnpm check:token-gates` — passed.
- `pnpm -r typecheck` — passed.
- `pnpm build` — passed.
- `pnpm test:run` — the changed UI tests passed, but the full local
macOS run also hit existing failures in untouched server worktree and
temporary-path tests.
- GitHub verification — 30 checks passed, no checks failed, and the
Storybook job was intentionally skipped because this PR has no visual
changes.
- Greptile — 5/5 on `fbba29a2f`, with no open findings.

## Risks

- Low risk. Detection requires HTTP 401 and one exact top-level Cloud
error code.
- The recovery promise intentionally stays pending because document
navigation replaces the active SPA.
- If the Paperclip ID session has also expired, the existing Cloud
sign-in flow remains authoritative.
- This change does not modify APIs, cookies, token lifetimes, database
state, or Cloud server code.

discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap

## Model Used

- OpenAI GPT-5 Codex. The agent runtime identifies the model as GPT-5.
The context-window size is not exposed. Reasoning, repository editing,
shell execution, test execution, and GitHub CLI tool use were enabled.

TonioandClaude Opus 5 ac91b7f3b2 fix(ui): scope the company selection to the signed-in account (#11430)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work
> - Every company-scoped screen reads the active company from
`CompanyProvider`, which picks one from the `["companies"]` list and
remembers it in localStorage
> - That cache entry is shared app-wide and carries no account identity,
so it survives a change of account in the tab
> - The provider therefore auto-selects from whatever list is cached,
which can belong to the account that just went away
> - This pull request makes the provider watch the account and refuse to
derive a selection from a list fetched for a different one
> - The benefit is that the app stops pointing at a company the
signed-in account may not be able to see

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

No public issue exists. Refs #11380, #11382, #11417. The problem
follows.

**What happened?**

`CompanyProvider` auto-selects a company from the shared `["companies"]`
cache entry and writes that id to `localStorage`. Nothing ties that
entry to an account. When the account changes in the tab, the previous
account's list is still served, so the provider can select — and persist
— a company belonging to the account that just went away. Company-scoped
screens then render against a company the current account may not be
able to see.

Signing in through `Auth.tsx` invalidates the entry, so the in-app
sign-in path is covered. Two paths are not: a session that lapses
server-side, and a second account signing in on another tab. The
sign-out sweep in #11380 does not cover them either, because neither
presses the sign-out button.

**Expected behavior**

The company selection is derived only from a company list fetched for
the account that is signed in now.

**Steps to reproduce**

1. On a self-hosted instance in `authenticated` mode, sign in as account
A, which belongs to company X.
2. In a second tab, sign in as account B, which does not belong to
company X.
3. Return to the first tab. The session query refetches and reports
account B, while the company list is still account A's.
4. The provider keeps company X selected and leaves its id in
`localStorage`.

**Paperclip version or commit**

`master` at `6542ad1f4`.

## What Changed

- `ui/src/context/CompanyContext.tsx` — the provider observes
`queryKeys.auth.session`. On a change of session user it clears the live
selection, removes the shared company list, and holds auto-select until
a list fetched for the new account lands. The stored id is left alone on
purpose: `resolveBootstrapCompanySelection` re-validates it, so an
account signing back in keeps its company while an unrelated account
cannot inherit it.
- `ui/src/context/CompanyContext.tsx` — an errored list is treated as
undecided rather than as "no companies". With `retry: false` a single
network blip sticks, and the empty-list branch read it as proof the
account owns nothing and cleared the stored selection.
- `ui/src/api/client.ts` — new `detachInflightGet(path)`. GET coalescing
keys on the request path alone, so a `/companies` request issued under
the previous session could be joined by the replacement fetch and answer
it with the previous account's companies. Detaching leaves that request
to settle for its own callers and makes the next call issue a fresh one.
- `ui/src/api/companies.ts` — `companiesApi.detachInflightList()` wraps
that for the list path.
- `ui/src/context/CompanyContext.tsx` — `companyListUnavailable`
separates "no usable list because a request failed" from "this account
owns nothing", and `retryCompanies` gives a recovery action that
fetches. Both are derived from the query rather than tracked beside it;
a second copy of "did the last attempt succeed" drifted out of step
during review, reporting a failure over a later empty list that was
simply the truth.
- `ui/src/components/SidebarCompanyMenu.tsx` — renders "Couldn't load
companies" and a Try again item in place of "No companies", which is a
claim about the account that a failed request cannot support. This is
the menu `Sidebar` mounts, so it is the only place a customer can act on
the failure.
- `ui/src/components/CompanySwitcher.tsx` — the same treatment. The
application does not render this component (its only mount is a
Storybook story), so it is kept in step rather than relied on.
- `ui/src/context/CompanyContext.test.tsx`,
`ui/src/components/SidebarCompanyMenu.test.tsx`,
`ui/src/api/client.test.ts` — coverage for the account switch, a
same-account re-observation not churning, the detached GET, the failed
replacement and its recovery, a single blip self-healing, unavailability
not outliving the failure, and the sidebar rendering the recovery action
for a failure but plain "No companies" for an account that owns nothing.

### No `retry` override on the replacement fetch

The obvious fix for a failed replacement is a retry, and it is not
load-bearing here. A transient failure already gets a second attempt:
the observer rebinds to a fresh query on the render those state updates
schedule, and issues its own request — measured as two attempts with or
without the option. Retries would only add failed round trips before a
real outage is reported, and the outage is what needs a way out, which
is what `companyListUnavailable` and `retryCompanies` provide.

### Why `removeQueries` here, and why that does not generalise

Removal notifies no observer. What rebinds them at this call site is the
render the surrounding state updates schedule; every observer re-binds
to a fresh query on the next render. A caller without that guarantee
would leave mounted observers serving the previous account's value, so
this is not a pattern to lift elsewhere — the sign-out sweep in #11380
must use `resetQueries` instead, and its measurements are at
[#11380](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/11380#issuecomment-5300984911).

The inverse caveat holds for a local reset under an observer that stays
mounted, which is why #11417 and #11382 avoid `resetQueries`.

## Verification

- `pnpm vitest run` in `ui`: **4014 passed, 1 failed**.
- `pnpm tsc -b` in `ui`: clean.
- `CompanyContext.test.tsx`: 16 passed. `SidebarCompanyMenu.test.tsx`:
15 passed. `client.test.ts`: 9 passed.

The failure is pre-existing and unrelated: `IssueProperties.test.tsx`
expects `4:08 PM` and gets `9:08 AM`, a timezone-dependent assertion. It
reproduces on a tree without this change, and #11478 fixes it.

Each new test was confirmed to fail against the implementation it
covers, by reverting that change and re-running rather than by assuming.
The account-switch test fails without the fix (the selection stays on
the previous account's company and no refetch is issued); the
flag-clearing test fails without its clause (an empty list keeps reading
as "couldn't load").

**Not done:** no manual two-account run in a browser. The path needs two
accounts on an `authenticated` instance, which a local dev instance
cannot exercise.

## Risks

Low. The failure direction is a company selection withheld for one extra
round trip, which resolves when the list arrives. The direction it
removes is one account's company selected and persisted for another.

It adds one company-list request per account change, on a query key the
app already uses. It adds no request at boot: the session query it
observes is already fetched app-wide.

**This does not close the class.** Company-scoped entries other than the
list — `["companies", id]`, stats, and the rest of the per-account cache
— still survive an account change. That is the cache-lifetime work in
#11380, not this provider's.

## Model Used

Claude Opus 5 (`claude-opus-5`), through Claude Code. Extended thinking
enabled. Tool use enabled: file read and edit, shell for typecheck and
test runs, and a scratch vitest harness to measure `removeQueries` and
`resetQueries` notification behaviour against the installed
`@tanstack/query-core` 5.101.4.

Devin Foley 0a95ada1be feat(server): chunked import preview endpoint and resumable upload in the Import page and CLI (#11224)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work
> - The previous pull request added server-side chunked resumable import
transfers; without clients, large imports still ride the single fragile
upload
> - The Import page and the CLI need to slice large packages, upload
parts with retry and progress, resume after interruptions, and preview
before applying
> - Preview is the missing server piece: the browser flow is
preview-then-import, so a completed spool must be previewable without
re-uploading
> - This pull request adds the transfer preview endpoint, switches the
Import page to the chunked path for zips over 48 MB, and teaches the CLI
the same for oversized local imports
> - The benefit is that large imports get progress, per-part retry, and
resume in both clients, while small imports keep the exact single-shot
path they have today

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**What happened?**

With only the server transfer routes in place, users still upload large
company packages as one request from the Import page and the CLI: no
progress indication, no retry below the whole file, and no resume after
a dropped connection or refresh. The preview-then-import flow also
cannot run against an uploaded transfer, forcing a second full upload.

**Expected behavior**

A large package uploads once as verified parts with visible progress;
preview and import both run against the uploaded spool; an interrupted
upload resumes with only the missing parts re-sent; packages at or below
48 MB behave exactly as before.

**Steps to reproduce**

1. Select a 500 MB zip on the Import page over an unreliable connection.
2. Watch the single upload fail near the end and restart from zero,
twice — once for preview, once for import.
3. Same story headless via the CLI.

## What Changed

- Server: `POST /import/transfers/:id/preview` runs the existing preview
logic against the completed spool (shared assembly + whole-file
verification helper with apply); preview neither completes the run nor
deletes the spool, so the subsequent apply reuses it. Missing parts
respond with the missing list.
- UI: zips over 48 MB take the chunked path in both preview and import —
the file is sliced into 32 MB parts hashed with WebCrypto (single
ArrayBuffer, no second copy), the transfer is created or resumed (the
create response's missing-parts list drives what uploads), parts upload
sequentially with three attempts each and visible progress, then
transfer preview/apply replace the multipart calls. The existing preview
pane, collision handling, adapter overrides, and async job polling are
unchanged; ≤ 48 MB keeps the single-shot path.
- CLI: oversized local `.zip` or folder imports zip/slice/hash with node
crypto, upload with resume and per-part retry and progress lines, and
use transfer preview/apply. Small packages keep the inline path
byte-identical.
- Failure honesty: adapters/API errors fail open to existing behavior; a
part failing all attempts surfaces a durable error panel with resume
intact.

## Verification

- Server: preview-then-apply on one spool (run stays open, spool intact,
then apply completes), preview with missing parts rejected — added to
the transfer route suite (embedded Postgres).
- UI suite: large file takes the chunked path (manifest shape, part
uploads, progress, apply on a resumed transfer, single-shot endpoints
never called), small file stays single-shot, part failure after three
attempts surfaces the error panel without running preview, resume
re-uploads only the missing part.
- CLI: manifest slicing/hashing, threshold behavior for zip and folder
sources, folder-zip round-trip through the real zip reader, upload
resume/retry/exhaustion/already-completed, full-command chunked and
small-zip inline flows.
- Server, ui, cli typechecks clean. Exact counts in the PR checks.

## Risks

- The 48 MB threshold only routes between two verified paths; behavior
below it is untouched.
- Chunked CLI imports use the board-scoped transfer routes, so oversized
CLI imports need board credentials (agent tokens keep the agent-safe
small-file path). No privilege change — board actors already had the
generic routes — but the two size regimes differ semantically; called
out for review.
- A CLI dry-run over the threshold uploads parts before previewing; the
spool persists (24 h sweep) and a later apply resumes without re-upload
— inherent to preview-against-spool.

Stacked on #11223 — merge that first; this PR then shows only the
preview endpoint and client changes.

## Model Used

- Claude Fable 5 (`claude-fable-5`) via Claude Code CLI, with extended
thinking and tool use (multi-agent implementation with independent
verification).

Devin Foley 5ec7ce76e5 Upload company import packages as compressed zip uploads (fix large-company imports through Cloud) (#10531)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work
> - Company Import (#10507, hardened in #10523) lets a user upload a
company package on the Import page
> - The page expanded the user's `.zip` into a files map and POSTed it
as ONE inline JSON body — ~40MB for a real company because attachment
blobs get base64-inflated
> - On Paperclip Cloud that body travels browser → harness proxy →
tenant, where it truncated in transit → body-parser 400 → the browser
saw "Failed to fetch", and nothing imported
> - Two compounding causes: the giant inline body itself, and the board
async opt-in riding an `x-paperclip-cloud-*` header that the Cloud
harness strips as anti-spoofing (so async never engaged and the import
held one fragile synchronous connection)
> - This pull request uploads the raw compressed `.zip` as a multipart
request (about a third the size, already compressed) parsed server-side
into the same bundle the importer consumes, and moves the async opt-in
to a proxy-safe `?async=1`
> - The benefit is that a large-company import actually completes
through Cloud: a small compressed upload, a real async job that survives
dropped connections

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

- Refs #10507 / #10523 (Import/Export and its hardening). No open issue;
problem described above (large-company browser import through a proxy:
inline JSON body truncates → 400 → "Failed to fetch"; async opt-in
header stripped by the front door → async never engages).

## What Changed

- **Multipart zip transport.** The Import page uploads the raw `File` as
`multipart/form-data` (field `package`, import options in a JSON `meta`
field); the server unzips it into `{ rootPath, files }` and runs the
exact existing preview/import logic. The `application/json` inline path
is byte-identical for CLI/programmatic callers. Bare `application/zip`
(meta via `?meta=`) is also accepted for programmatic use.
- **Shared node zip reader.** `packages/shared/src/portability-zip.ts`
(node-only subpath, not re-exported to the browser bundle — same pattern
as `portability-hash.ts`); the CLI's `zip.ts` becomes a thin re-export.
Identical codec (STORE + DEFLATE via `inflateRawSync`, rejects data
descriptors/zip64).
- **Proxy-safe async signal.** `wantsAsyncImport` = `?async=1` (board
browsers, survives the harness) OR the existing
`x-paperclip-cloud-async-import` header (cloud tenants, set
server-side). The UI async client now uses `?async=1`. Backward
compatible.
- **Size + preflight.** New `PORTABLE_ZIP_UPLOAD_LIMIT_BYTES = 128MB`;
the inline 56MB preflight no longer gates the zip path (it shows the
compressed size instead). Async submit/poll/resume, the duplicate-guard
fingerprint (now over the resolved bundle), pause-on-import,
progress/error panels, and activation all apply to the multipart path.
- OpenAPI documents json + multipart + zip bodies and the `async` query
param.

## Verification

- Full typecheck chain (shared, server, ui, cli) clean.
- 152 tests across 8 files: new `portability-zip.test.ts`
(STORE/DEFLATE/base64-blob byte-exact round-trip, truncation throws,
data-descriptor rejection); `company-portability-routes.test.ts` +7
(multipart import+preview equals the inline bundle; async multipart
202→poll→success; board async via `?async=1` with no cloud header;
cloud-tenant async via header; sync fallback with neither; truncated-zip
400, nothing imported); `CompanyImport.test.tsx` asserts the local zip
sends the raw File and the inline preflight no longer blocks;
`openapi-routes.test.ts` green.
- NOT yet measured: the end-to-end browser upload through the live Cloud
harness — verified on staging after deploy before closing out.

## Risks

- Import semantics unchanged — only transport changed; the JSON inline
path is byte-identical, the cloud-tenant header async path untouched.
Multipart parsing is server-side (memory-bound: a ~13MB zip → ~30MB
files map, fine on the server).
- The bare `application/zip` path is programmatic-only and covered by
content-type dispatch but not a dedicated route test (the multipart path
is).

## Model Used

- Claude Fable 5 (`claude-fable-5`, Anthropic), Claude Code CLI,
extended thinking + tool use; root-caused against live logs/DB and the
harness proxy source.

Devin Foley 276ae3a75d Harden company import: durable UI, async jobs, integrity guard, batched inserts (#10523)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work
> - Company Import/Export (#10507) moves whole companies between
instances as portability bundles
> - Real-world use on a large company (1,418 issues, ~10.6k comments)
surfaced a cluster of related failures: the import took hours and the
browser connection died while the server kept running, a retry silently
produced a second partial import, the progress/error UI gave no durable
signal, and a cloud-tenant user couldn't even open the companies
afterward
> - Root cause of the slowness: importBundle inserted every issue,
comment, and document as a separate round-trip to a network Postgres —
an N+1-over-network pattern
> - This pull request hardens the whole import path: durable
progress/error UI, an async server-side job so imports survive dropped
connections (with a duplicate-submit guard), a fail-closed guard against
incomplete payloads, and batched inserts that cut a large import from
hours to minutes
> - The benefit is that migrating a real, large company actually
completes, is legible while it runs, and can't half-import twice

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

- Refs #10507 (the Import/Export feature this hardens). Supersedes
#10513 (the progress/error-UI piece, folded in here). No open issue;
problem described above (large-company import: slow, connection-fragile,
silently duplicable, opaque UI).

## What Changed

- **Batched inserts (perf):** importBundle pre-generates entity ids in
JS and inserts in chunked multi-row statements, so children no longer
wait on parents' generated ids. A 1,418-issue import drops from ~15,600
insert statements to **82** (190×); benchmark below. Import semantics —
collision handling, pause-on-import,
label/blocker/monitor/attachment/embedded-asset handling, blob sha
verification — are unchanged (full portability suite green).
- **Async import jobs for board sessions:** the existing cloud-tenant
async job path opens to board sessions with per-actor job keys; the
import page submits, polls, and resumes watching after a reload or
dropped connection instead of holding one fragile request. A
non-terminal job blocks a duplicate submit (409 returns the running
job), preventing the double-import.
- **Fail-closed completeness guard:** an optional `expectedFileCount` on
inline imports; the server rejects (422 `import_payload_incomplete`) a
body carrying fewer files than declared, so a re-framed/short payload
fails loudly instead of half-importing.
- **Durable progress/error UI (was #10513):** persistent progress panels
with size-aware copy, persistent error panels with retry guidance, and
inline explanation when the preview button is disabled;
request-lifecycle guards so stale previews/imports can't publish or
detach.

## Verification

- `pnpm -r` typechecks (shared, server, ui) clean.
- `company-portability.test.ts` (76) +
`company-portability-routes.test.ts` (30) green — the import correctness
net — plus new `CompanyImport.test.tsx` async/resume/409 coverage and a
new batching regression test (a 50-issue import issues <50 issue-insert
statements; rows land unchanged).
- **Batching benchmark (embedded Postgres):** at 1,418 issues × 7
comments × 1 doc — 82 insert statements vs ~15,598 one-per-row (190×),
~1s wall-clock; a row-verifying run at that scale imports all 1,418
issues / 9,926 comments / 1,418 documents with unique identifiers and no
warnings (no rows dropped by chunking). Over a network DB the round-trip
reduction is the hours→minutes lever.
- What is NOT directly measured here: wall-clock against a real network
Postgres (that happens on a staging deploy); the local timing is
network-free.

## Risks

- Batching is the load-bearing change: it rewrites the import write
path. Mitigated by the unchanged 106-test correctness suite, a new
scale/row-integrity test, and per-writer transactions (a failure rolls
back its table group; not a single outer transaction across writers —
noted, correctness preserved).
- Async jobs are in-memory (lost on server restart → pollers 404 and can
resubmit); matches the pre-existing cloud-tenant job semantics.
- `expectedFileCount` is optional (older callers unaffected); over-count
is allowed, only under-count fails closed.

## Model Used

- Claude Fable 5 (`claude-fable-5`, Anthropic), Claude Code CLI,
extended thinking + tool use; implementation across Fable 5 subagents
with live diagnosis against a running instance.

DottaandPaperclip a116713b9a feat(mcp) [split 6/8]: add Tools and Profiles UI foundation (#9561)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work
> - Governed MCP access spans contracts, runtime enforcement, adapters,
UI surfaces, and operator verification
> - The parity reference PR #9534 is too large for effective automated
or human review
> - The feature therefore needs a linear stack whose individual diffs
stay below the 100-file review limit
> - This pull request is split 6/8 and focuses on UI API, shared
components, and Tools/Profile surfaces
> - The benefit is a standalone, testable review boundary while
preserving byte-for-byte parity at the top of the stack

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

- Related parity reference: #9534
- Problem: Operators need typed clients and administration surfaces that
compile independently before navigation exposes them.
- Proposed solution: Adds UI APIs, hooks, libraries, shared components,
Tools/Profiles pages, and the plugin settings consumer required by the
new company-scoped API.
- Alternatives considered: keeping #9534 as one 403-file review, or
rewriting the feature to manufacture seams; both were rejected in favor
of path extraction plus compile-driven boundary moves.
- Roadmap alignment: this advances the existing governed MCP/tool-access
work already represented by #9534; it does not introduce a separate
roadmap initiative.
- Stack position: base branch is
`pap10341-split/05-runtime-integration`.
- Merge policy: merge bottom-up, in order, only after the complete
eight-PR stack has been reviewed and the top-of-stack parity gate
remains empty.
- Requested review: UXDesigner sanity pass on Tools/Profile surfaces;
Greptile on every PR.

## What Changed

- Adds UI APIs, hooks, libraries, shared components, Tools/Profiles
pages, and the plugin settings consumer required by the new
company-scoped API.
- Keeps this PR below 100 changed files and independently typecheckable.
- Preserves the final tree from #9534 when combined with the other seven
stack levels.

## Verification

- `pnpm typecheck`
- `pnpm check:token-gates` — all gates clean
- Focused UI Vitest run with `NODE_ENV=test` — 28 files, 183 tests
passed

## Risks

- Large dead-code UI additions can drift from activation routes; PR 7
supplies the registration layer and top-level parity catches omissions.
- Stack risk: merging out of order can expose incomplete layers;
mitigate by following the documented bottom-up merge policy.
- Parity risk: later edits to an intermediate branch can drift from
#9534; mitigate by re-running the empty top-of-stack diff before merge.

discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap

## Model Used

- OpenAI Codex, exact model ID `gpt-5.4`; runtime-managed context
window; medium reasoning with repository, shell, Git, GitHub CLI, and
code-execution tools enabled.

DottaandPaperclip 176645187c Fix request storm polling and issue-list coalescing (#9190)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work
> - The board UI keeps issue, agent, activity, and run state fresh
through polling across several pages and sidebar surfaces
> - When multiple components or browser tabs poll the same company data
at the same time, the API can receive bursts of duplicate issue-list
requests
> - Those duplicate requests increase database and server load without
returning meaningfully different data
> - This pull request adds server-side compression/coalescing plus
client-side visibility-aware and cross-tab shared polling
> - The benefit is lower request volume during normal board usage while
preserving fresh UI data for active users

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

No exact public GitHub issue was found for this request.

Problem:
- The board can issue redundant polling requests for the same issue-list
data from multiple UI surfaces and tabs.
- In busy operator sessions, those bursts can trigger request-storm
behavior and unnecessary issue-list load.
- Expected behavior is to reuse identical in-flight work server-side and
reduce hidden-tab or duplicate-tab polling client-side while preserving
normal refresh behavior.

Related public context found during duplicate search:
- #8206 covers a different board UI 404-storm scope.
- #5165 covers separate issue-list behavior around page-size truncation.

## What Changed

- Added API compression middleware foundation and a company/created-at
index for heartbeat run access.
- Added server-side issue-list request storm detection and identical
in-flight request coalescing.
- Added UI fetch metadata, visibility-aware polling, and request
deduplication for issue/activity/client calls.
- Added cross-tab shared polling primitives and wired them into the
sidebar, inbox, dashboard, issue, project, routine, and agent surfaces.
- Resolved the latest `master` migration collision by keeping upstream
`0140_built_in_managed_resources.sql` and renumbering this branch's
heartbeat-run index migration to
`0141_heartbeat_runs_company_created_at_index.sql`; the SQL uses `CREATE
INDEX IF NOT EXISTS` for idempotency.
- Stabilized server heartbeat cleanup tests exposed by the PR check
matrix.
- Fixed the Greptile compression follow-up by weakening strong ETags on
encoded JSON responses and bypassing compression for streamed/download
responses.

## Verification

- `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/components/IssuesList.test.tsx
ui/src/pages/Inbox.test.tsx` — passed after resolving the latest
`master` conflict in `IssuesList.tsx` and updating the 200-result cap
expectations.

- `pnpm exec vitest run
server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-workspace-finalize-branch.test.ts` —
passed.
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` — passed.
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` — passed.
- GitHub PR checks for head `8dbddac41ec273fda404100b4981ddb912fad57b`:
all GitHub Actions/status checks passed; Greptile, Superagent, Socket,
Snyk, build, typecheck/release registry, general tests, serialized
server suites, e2e, canary dry run, policy, and commitperclip review are
green; Storybook visual regression and security-review were
skipped/neutral by policy.
- Confirmed this branch does not include `pnpm-lock.yaml` or
`.github/workflows` changes.

## Risks

- Medium risk: issue-list coalescing changes request timing and cache
semantics for a hot API path.
- Medium risk: cross-tab polling uses browser coordination primitives,
so older or unusual browser environments need fallback behavior to stay
correct.
- Low migration risk: the new index migration is ordered after current
`master` and uses `CREATE INDEX IF NOT EXISTS`.

b13eb5b2b5 Skill Studio: three-pane skill IDE with sandboxed test runs (#9241)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - The Skills Manager gives operators a reusable skill layer, but
iteration still required manual edits, ad hoc prompts, and indirect run
inspection.
> - Skill authors need a focused workflow for editing skill files,
saving representative test inputs, and running those inputs through an
agent without exposing harness tasks as normal company work.
> - The backend therefore needs durable test inputs, reusable run
templates, hidden harness issues, scoped run execution, retention
metadata, and read-containment rules around hidden work.
> - The frontend needs a three-pane Studio that keeps skill files, saved
inputs/templates, and run output/history visible together while
preserving the existing design system and token rules.
> - This pull request ships that Skill Studio surface end to end:
database migrations, shared contracts, server APIs/services, hidden
harness execution behavior, UI routes/components, and focused tests.
> - The benefit is faster and safer skill iteration, with inspectable
outputs and fewer ways for internal harness work to leak into normal
task lists, costs, or adjacent read APIs.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

No public GitHub issue exists for this feature. Feature request summary:

- Problem: Skill authors need to edit and test company skills in one
place instead of switching between the skill detail page, task creation,
run output, and manual prompt history.
- Proposed solution: Add a Skill Studio workbench with saved inputs,
reusable templates, hidden sandboxed test runs, live run status, output
inspection, run history, rerun/delete controls, and frontmatter-aware
editing.
- Expected users: Paperclip operators and agent-company maintainers who
create, fork, import, and tune skills.
- Related public PRs: Supersedes #9205, which was replaced so the public
PR branch name follows contributor policy.
- Duplicate search: searched public GitHub issues and PRs for "Skill
Studio"; no other active public issue or PR directly covers this
feature.

## What Changed

- Added database migrations for Skill Studio test inputs, test runs,
test run retention, and reusable run templates.
- Added shared Skill Studio types, validators, route helpers,
frontmatter utilities, and status handling.
- Added server services and routes for saved inputs, test runs,
templates, reruns, terminal-run deletion, hidden harness issue
execution, and run-detail hydration.
- Strengthened hidden-issue read containment across issue-adjacent
routes and cost rollups used by skill test harness work.
- Added the Skill Studio UI with skill file editing, frontmatter
editing, saved inputs, templates, run creation/cancel/rerun/delete
flows, output rendering, history, route support, and responsive pane
behavior.
- Added focused backend, shared, and UI tests for the new APIs, routing
logic, editor/run behavior, hidden-issue containment, and migration
safety.
- Rebased onto current `master`, removed the generated lockfile diff
from the PR, and verified no workflow files are changed.

## Risks

- Medium risk because this is a broad feature touching database schema,
server orchestration, issue visibility, and a large UI surface.
- Hidden harness issue containment is security-sensitive; this PR
includes regression coverage for adjacent read paths and cost rollups.
- The new migrations are additive and use idempotent guards where
applicable, but deployed databases that previously tested draft
migration numbers should still be checked carefully.
- The UI depends on a new resizable panels package in `ui/package.json`;
the lockfile is intentionally left to repository automation.

> For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and
discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap
with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap
first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`.

## Model Used

dottaandPaperclip 21765f8118 Fix trigger delete: handle 204 No Content in API client
The DELETE /routine-triggers/:id endpoint returns 204 No Content, but
the API client unconditionally called res.json() on all responses,
causing a JSON parse error that surfaced as "API route not found".
