fix(ui): keep code-block pastes in the nested editor (#15773)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - People write a routine description in a rich markdown editor > - That editor contains a nested code block for literal text > - A paste that starts with a markdown mark, such as a dash, goes to the outer editor > - The text does not appear in the code block > - This pull request sends that paste to the nested editor as literal text > - This pull request also adds a copy control next to the Overview heading > - The benefit is that a person can keep a routine description in a code block and copy it to another Paperclip instance ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What happened?** A paste into a code block in a routine description does not appear when the pasted text starts with a markdown mark, such as a dash. A plain single line still appears. **Expected behavior** The nested code editor receives the paste as literal text. The text stays in the code block. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Open a routine and edit the description. 2. Add a text code block. 3. Click inside that code block. 4. Paste a line that starts with a dash. 5. The line does not appear in the code block. **Paperclip version or commit** `master` at `3389bea`. **Deployment mode** Local dev (pnpm dev) ## What Changed - The markdown editor does not take a paste that starts inside a nested code block. - The same editor is used for descriptions in the routine page and in the rest of the app. - The Overview heading has a copy button. - The button copies the draft description while you edit. - The button copies the saved description when you do not edit. - Unit tests cover the paste path and the copy button. - Screenshots show the heading while you view a description and while you edit it. ## Screenshots The copy icon sits next to the Overview title. The heading component is the production component. The page frame around it is a preview. ## Verification - Run `corepack pnpm exec vitest run --config ui/vitest.config.ts ui/src/components/MarkdownEditor.test.tsx ui/src/components/RoutineSectionHeading.test.tsx ui/src/lib/routine-description-copy.test.ts` from the repository root. 57 tests passed on the code commit. - Open a routine description. Paste a line that starts with a dash into a text code block. Confirm that the line stays in the code block. - Click the copy button next to Overview. Paste the result into a new routine. Confirm that the description matches the draft while you edit, and the saved description when you do not edit. - Open the screenshots above. Confirm the copy icon is next to Overview in the view state and in the edit state, in light theme and in dark theme. - This workspace did not open a signed-in routine page. The screenshots render the production heading with the app color tokens. ## Risks Low risk. A paste inside a code block now stays in that block. A paste in the rest of the editor still follows the previous markdown path. The copy button only reads the description text. ## Model Used xAI Grok 4.7 with tool use. feat(routines): add safe webhook setup and in-routine run management (#13637)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Routines turn scheduled work and external events into tasks for an assigned agent. > - Webhook setup was disabled, and actor authentication rejected valid webhook bearer keys. > - Operators need to connect and test a sending app before events can start work. > - This pull request adds a guided setup with durable connection tests that cannot dispatch a task. > - It keeps trigger management, execution tasks, and activity within the routine. > - The benefit is a webhook that can be configured, verified, and operated from one place. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Fixes #11937. Related: #13216 adds provider-specific Sentry support. This PR addresses general routine setup and ingress. #6841 addresses legacy secret bindings; this PR retains the existing secret service. **Current behavior** Webhook creation is disabled. Bearer deliveries can fail in agent authentication before the routine checks its key. Setup has no safe connection test. Runs and Activity send the operator away from the routine. **Proposed behavior** Choose a schedule or a webhook. Follow the setup steps, copy credentials or complete agent instructions, and test delivery without creating work. Finish setup to allow future events to start tasks. Edit or remove compact trigger cards, undo removal, and inspect tasks and activity inside the routine. **Reason and benefit** An operator can verify credentials and delivery before enabling automatic work. Durable setup state survives refreshes and restarts. Retry receipts prevent an old test event from starting work after activation. ## What Changed - Add a production trigger wizard using reusable Slack setup navigation and footer components. - Add schedule and webhook choices, one-time credentials, agent instructions, and live connection feedback. - Persist pending setup, test delivery receipts, connection status, and reversible trigger removal. - Keep setup checks free of routine runs, tasks, and agent wakeups. Preserve delivery idempotency after activation. - Add compact trigger cards, inline editing, key rotation, pause controls, removal, and Undo. - Keep Runs and Activity in the routine. Use the shared task list and compact activity rows. - Permit only exact public delivery POSTs through actor authentication. Retain webhook authentication, JSON-object validation, and log redaction. - Add production-backed Storybook states and focused server, database, and UI coverage. - Document signing modes, setup checks, retries, rotation, HTTPS ingress, and navigation. ## Verification - Full workspace typecheck, build, and token gates passed on the rebased branch. Storybook also builds. - Focused routine, middleware, logging, shared wizard, and UI coverage passes on the rebased branch: 195 tests across 14 files. The migration passed on a fresh PostgreSQL database and on two repeated applications. - Browser testing used the real app, database, and a deterministic process worker through Tailscale HTTPS and the current Cloud proxy code. - Verified rejected keys, safe setup deliveries, persisted state after restart, activation, retry deduplication, key rotation, schedule editing, removal, and Undo. - Fresh bearer and GitHub-signed deliveries created tasks that the worker checked out and completed. Runs and Activity stayed within the routine. - Current Cloud ingress tests passed. Public delivery POSTs passed through without a browser session; management routes remained gated. - All 54 current-head PR checks pass, including general and serialized tests, all eight browser E2E shards, typecheck, build, runner checks, security checks, and the canary dry run. Two optional Storybook jobs are skipped by workflow conditions. - Greptile is 5/5 on commit `7ea63a61e`, with no unresolved review threads. The stale connection-status finding is fixed and covered by a regression test. - No production deployment was performed. ## Risks - Migration 0281 adds three trigger columns and a test-receipt table. It is additive and safe to reapply. Apply it before running the new server. Existing triggers remain live by default. - Requests without delivery IDs are new events after activation. Senders must reuse an event's delivery ID for retries. - Completed webhooks keep normal dispatch behavior. Their management connection check can start work; the UI states this. - Removing a trigger archives it. Undo restores the URL and credentials. Permanent deletion remains available through the existing API. - Public ingress must remain restricted to the delivery POST route. The tenant verifies credentials. Cloud sleeping-stack behavior is unchanged. - Shared setup components also serve Slack. Existing setup contracts and navigation tests cover that integration. - Senders must use application/json with an object. Other media types receive 415. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, based on GPT-6, with reasoning, repository tools, shell execution, and browser testing. The exact deployment model ID and context-window size are not exposed in this session. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes: #` / `Closes #` / `Refs #` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal/instance-local Paperclip issues or links (only public GitHub `#NNN` / `github.com/paperclipai/paperclip` URLs) - [x] My branch name describes the change (e.g. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

fix(ui): use HTTP-safe clipboard copy everywhere (#10875)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Operators often open self-hosted Paperclip over plain HTTP on a LAN or private network. > - Browser Clipboard API writes are not reliable in that insecure context. > - Paperclip already has one shared helper with a legacy copy fallback, but many current copy actions bypass it. > - This pull request routes every core UI copy action and the first-party workspace-diff plugin through the shared helper. > - The benefit is consistent copy behavior on HTTPS, localhost, and plain-HTTP private deployments. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #3529. This change supersedes the stale prior attempt in #3531. Current master has more copy surfaces and a first-party plugin UI bridge that the prior branch does not cover. ## What Changed - Replaced direct Clipboard API writes and duplicate fallback implementations across the current core UI with `copyTextToClipboard`. - Added an HTTP-safe clipboard function to the plugin UI SDK and wired the host bridge to the same implementation. - Migrated the first-party workspace-diff plugin to the plugin SDK clipboard function. - Added unit coverage for native rejection fallback and plugin host delegation. - Added a source-level regression test that rejects new direct clipboard writes outside the shared implementation. - Documented the plugin UI clipboard function. ## Verification - `NODE_ENV=test pnpm exec vitest run ...` for 14 affected suites: 164 tests passed. - `pnpm exec vitest run tests/ui-clipboard.test.ts` in `packages/plugins/sdk`: 1 test passed. - `NODE_ENV=test pnpm -r typecheck`: passed for 31 workspace projects. - `NODE_ENV=test pnpm test:run`: passed. - `NODE_ENV=production pnpm build`: passed. - `pnpm check:token-gates`: passed with all gates clean. ## Risks Low risk. Secure contexts still use the modern Clipboard API. Plain HTTP and rejected modern writes use the existing `execCommand("copy")` fallback. That API is deprecated, but it is the compatibility path required for insecure contexts. The change has no schema, API, or visual design effect. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, `gpt-5.6-sol`. The runtime did not expose a context-window size. Reasoning, tool use, repository editing, test execution, and GitHub CLI access were enabled. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

feat(routines): activity-gated advanced run policy (editor + run rows) (#10225)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Scheduled routines provide recurring control-plane work without manual intervention. > - The activity gate (`activity_gate_policy` / `activity_gate_scope`) lets a scheduled routine skip a tick when nothing has happened since its last run, so watcher-style routines stay asleep while the system is settled instead of burning tokens every tick. > - The scheduler, database columns, and the create/update API for those fields already landed (see #9438), but there was no way for an operator to actually set the policy from the routine editor, and the runs list rendered gated skips as bare "skipped" rows with no "why". > - This pull request adds the editor control and the run-row labels: the Delivery section gets an "Advanced run policy" picker plus a scope selector, and skipped runs explain why they were skipped. > - The benefit is that the activity gate becomes discoverable and usable end-to-end from the UI, closing the loop on the feature the API already supports. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description - Refs #8534 — activity gate for scheduled routines. - Builds on #9438 (merged) which exposed the activity-gate create/update API and the `Routine` response fields this UI reads and writes. This PR is the editor/UI companion to that API work. ## What Changed - **Routine editor — Advanced run policy control** (`ui/src/components/routine-sections/editable-sections.tsx`): the Delivery section gains a `RadioCardGroup` to choose between *Run on every scheduled tick* (default) and *Skip when there's been no activity since the last run*. When gating is enabled, a second scope picker (*Company-wide* / *This project*) appears. The control is **disabled with an explanatory hint** — rather than hidden — when the routine has no schedule trigger, since the gate only affects scheduled ticks (webhook/manual/API fires are themselves activity and always run). This keeps the capability discoverable. - **Edit-draft plumbing** (`ui/src/components/routine-sections/context.tsx`, `ui/src/pages/RoutineDetail.tsx`): `activityGatePolicy` / `activityGateScope` flow through the edit draft, the delivery section's dirty-field detection, the save payload, and revision restore, matching how `concurrencyPolicy` / `catchUpPolicy` are handled. - **Run-history skip reasons** (`ui/src/lib/routine-run-display.ts`): skipped run rows now render a human-readable "why" — `no_external_activity` → "Skipped — no activity since last run", plus labels for `paused` and `worktree_execution_cutoff` — instead of a bare status. - Storybook fixture updates for the new routine fields, plus focused run-display coverage for the skipped-run labels. ## Verification - `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/lib/routine-run-display.test.ts` — 11 tests passing. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` — clean. - `pnpm check:token-gates` — all token gates clean. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` — production build succeeds. - Current-head GitHub CI for `9f9af8ecccfadcdc4a3afab313aafad81cbd1112` — all checks pass (Storybook visual check skipped by workflow policy). ## Risks - **Low risk.** UI-only change; no schema/migration and no server changes (the API and columns already shipped in #9438). Fields are optional and default to the pre-feature behavior (`always` / `company`), so existing routines are unaffected. The scope picker only renders when gating is turned on, and the whole control is inert without a schedule trigger. ## Model Used - Claude Opus 4.8 (`claude-opus-4-8`, 1M context), extended thinking, with tool use (repo edit + shell verification). `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

fix(ui): inbox/task list parity, nesting alignment, hover perf, and routine detail polish (#9317)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip's UI is governed by the design system merged in #9134 and the component convergence in #9240 — one Card, one Badge, one nav row, one `IssueRow`, a single multiplicative radius ladder. > - With those primitives in place, the remaining rough edges were interaction and alignment details on the surfaces people use every day: the inbox, the task list, the sidebar, and the routine/task detail pages. > - Each item here was reported from live use and fixed against a running instance, then verified by measurement (pixel alignment, frame timing) rather than by eye alone. > - The result is that the inbox and task lists now behave as one system (same hover, keyboard nav, tree-guide, and archive language), list nesting reads correctly, list hover is smooth, and the routine detail page scrolls and aligns like the rest of the app. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No public GitHub issue exists for this work; describing per the feature template. - **Problem**: after the design-system foundation (#9134) and component convergence (#9240), the inbox/task lists still had interaction and alignment gaps — hover lag on long lists, keyboard navigation that only partly matched between the two lists, workspace/parent nesting whose guides and chevrons didn't line up, an inbox that sat offset from the task list, and a routine detail page with an odd double-scroll and a bespoke sub-nav. - **Proposed behavior**: the inbox and task lists share one interaction contract (hover, keyboard nav, collapse, archive), list nesting aligns to the status column with clean chevrons, list hover is CSS-only (no per-hover re-render), and the routine detail page uses a fixed header/sub-nav with a single scrolling content region and a sub-nav that matches the primary nav. ## What Changed - **List hover performance**: hover is now painted purely by CSS `:hover` and records the hovered row in a ref, instead of writing list-selection state on every `mouseenter` (which re-rendered 100–300 non-memoized rows per hover). Keyboard nav reads the ref so it still continues from the hovered row; the keyboard band clears on the first real mouse move so hover and keyboard selection never show two bands at once. The row's `transition-colors` fade was removed so the highlight snaps (no comet-tail). Measured on a 100-row scrub: worst frame **333 ms → 33 ms**, long frames (>50 ms) **12 → 0**, avg **41 → 60 fps**. - **Inbox ↔ task-list parity**: keyboard navigation works on every inbox tab (archive/read keys stay scoped to the archivable tab); group headers and parent tasks collapse/expand with the arrow keys in both lists; the task list gains the same j/k / arrows / Enter selection model as the inbox; hover selection bands match; the `g` then `i` go-to-inbox chord works app-wide. - **List nesting & alignment**: the workspace group-header chevron lines up exactly with the task chevrons below it (both lists); the parent→child connector line drops from under the parent's **status icon** rather than its chevron and breaks with a 14px gap around a nested row's own chevron; and inbox rows line up with the task list (read rows no longer reserve a mark-read column). - **Inbox archive affordance**: moved from a bare `x` left of the status icon to an `Archive` icon + label button on the right (before the timestamp), revealed on row hover; the left slot now carries only the unread dot; swipe-to-archive is unchanged. - **Sidebar**: when no agent has a live run, the AGENTS section shows 3 recent agents (was 5) plus "See all agents"; the working-agents view is unchanged. - **Routine detail page**: the layout is bounded to the main scroll area so the header (Run now + automation toggle) and the sub-nav stay fixed and only the section content scrolls (was a page-level scroll competing with a `sticky` sub-nav). The sub-nav items adopt the primary nav's rhythm — row padding/height, inset rounded pill, type scale, and 16px icons — and its background matches the main nav. - **Task detail**: dropped the redundant `🔵` prefix the breadcrumb added for live/in-progress tasks; the status glyph already conveys that state. ## Verification - `pnpm check:token-gates` → 3/3 CLEAN - `pnpm typecheck` → green (all packages) - `cd ui && npx vitest run` → 2255/2255 (assertions updated in lockstep where behavior changed) - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` → exit 0 - Storybook visual regression: run locally throughout (the baseline-manifest archive is still unpublished, so CI cannot run this suite — pre-existing condition from #9134). Every visible delta was reviewed against a live instance and, where it was intentional (nesting alignment, routine sub-nav restyle, unread-row shift), the affected snapshots were re-baselined locally. - Manual/measured: inbox + task lists (grouped and nested, light + dark), hover-scrub frame timing, keyboard navigation, and the routine detail scroll/alignment were exercised on a running instance. ## Risks - Behavior-and-alignment changes concentrated in `IssueRow` / `IssuesList` / `Inbox` (the shared task-row surfaces). The riskiest area — the hover/keyboard-selection model — is covered by unit tests (updated in lockstep) and was measured and driven live. - The routine detail scroll change restructures that page's layout container; verified the page's own scroll stays fixed while only the section content scrolls. - The visual suite cannot yet run in CI (unpublished baseline archive — pre-existing); snapshot coverage is local-only until that lands. ## Model Used - Claude Fable 5 (`claude-fable-5`, Anthropic) via Claude Code — agentic coding with tool use (file editing, test execution, Playwright measurement/screenshot verification); extended thinking enabled. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(ui): single-source design tokens, visual regression suite, and theme retune (#9134)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - Its UI is the operator's daily surface: task lists, boards, budgets, agent status — all built on shadcn components and Tailwind > - Visual values (colors, spacing, type sizes, radii) were hardcoded at ~1,600 call sites: the same "small gray label" was 9/10/11px depending on the file, charts disagreed with chips about status colors, two toggle-switch implementations coexisted in two greens, and there was no visual regression coverage > - This made the UI drift-prone and made any restyle a hundreds-of-files project, which discourages design iteration > - This pull request extracts visual values into a single token layer in `ui/src/index.css`, adds a Storybook visual regression suite backed by external immutable baseline archives, and then applies a deliberate retune reviewed change-by-change on screenshot diffs > - The benefit is that Paperclip's look becomes a config surface: retheming is a token edit reviewed as a snapshot diff, drift is blocked by a token gate, and future UI PRs can prove exactly what changed visually without committing hundreds of PNGs ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No existing public issue covers this work (searched "design tokens", "visual regression", "design system" across issues and PRs). Related in spirit: Refs #8982 (theming a hardcoded panel — a one-off instance of the same problem class this PR addresses systematically). **Problem (feature-request form):** UI visual values are hardcoded per call site with no source of truth and no regression coverage; consistency depends on reviewer memory, and restyling requires mass file edits. **Proposed solution (this PR):** a single token layer + enforcement gate + externally stored visual snapshot suite, then an intentional restyle on top of that foundation. ## What Changed - **Token extraction (zero visual change, machine-verified during development):** committed codemods (`scripts/codemod-*.mjs`) moved ~1,600 hardcoded color/type/spacing/radius/shadow/misc values into named tokens in a non-inline `:root` block of `ui/src/index.css`. - **Visual regression suite:** `pnpm test:storybook-visual` covers 255 stories × light/dark = 510 Playwright screenshots at `maxDiffPixels: 0`, plus new primitive-coverage stories and deterministic-render fixes. - **External visual baselines:** committed PNG snapshots were removed. `tests/storybook-visual/baseline-manifest.json` pins an immutable archive URL/hash/size/count, and `scripts/storybook-visual-baseline.mjs` handles `download`, `verify`, `pack`, and trusted maintainer `upload` flows. - **Opt-in visual CI artifacts:** added a `Storybook Visual` workflow that runs on manual dispatch or PRs labeled `storybook-visual`, downloads/verifies the baseline, runs Playwright, and uploads Playwright report/test-result artifacts for review. Normal PR runs do not mutate baseline objects. - **Token gate:** `pnpm check:token-gates` — zero hex literals, zero arbitrary bracket values, zero raw font-sizes in `ui/src/components/**` and `ui/src/pages/**`, with a documented inline allowlist for legitimate opt-outs. - **Theme retune (intentional, snapshot-reviewed):** new base theme values; radius ladder derived from a single `--radius` knob; micro-type cluster collapsed to a named ladder (`--text-nano/micro/compact` + Tailwind `text-xs`/`text-sm`); letter-spacing collapsed to named steps. - **One status-color vocabulary:** charts, quota/budget bar fills, RUNNING/live chips, and liveness indicators all use the canonical `--status-*` hues. Light-mode legibility fixes for red alert surfaces that used dark-tuned text classes. - **One switch:** `ToggleSwitch` restyled to the registry capsule form, second hand-rolled implementation removed, and all call sites unified. - **Docs:** `DESIGN.md` is the design contract; `doc/design/` holds audit reports, decision logs, and updated guidance for external baseline review/update workflows. - Dead code removed (`agentStatusBadge` duplicate map), byte-identical contrast constants consolidated, semantic renames (`--project-seed`/`--project-none`, `--liveness-blue`). ## Verification - `pnpm check:token-gates` — 3/3 gates CLEAN during the design-system run - `pnpm typecheck` && `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` — green during the design-system run - `node --test scripts/__tests__/storybook-visual-baseline.test.mjs` — pass after external-baseline rework - `pnpm exec tsc --noEmit --pretty false --module NodeNext --moduleResolution NodeNext --target ES2022 --types node,@playwright/test tests/storybook-visual/playwright.config.ts tests/storybook-visual/storybook-visual.spec.ts` — pass after external-baseline rework - `git diff --check origin/pr/9134..HEAD` — pass after external-baseline rework - `find tests/storybook-visual -type f -name '*.png' -print | wc -l` — `0` - `node scripts/storybook-visual-baseline.mjs verify` — intentionally fails closed until the first trusted maintainer publishes the baseline archive and updates `baseline-manifest.json` ## Risks - **Large but shallow:** the PR still touches many UI files due to mechanical token extraction and retune work, but committed PNG snapshot churn has been removed from the branch. - **Baseline publication required before the visual suite can pass in clean clones:** the manifest currently has placeholder archive metadata. A trusted maintainer must publish the first immutable archive, then update `baseline-manifest.json`. - **Rendering platform variance:** the external baseline should be captured in the documented Linux/Chromium environment. Future CI runs verify against the pinned archive and fail closed on checksum/count mismatch. - **Visual CI is opt-in while stabilizing:** add the `storybook-visual` label or dispatch the workflow manually to produce downloadable Playwright report/test-result artifacts. - **Scheduled follow-ups, deliberately out of scope:** Tailwind palette classes map to semantic tokens in a dedicated pass; card/pill component consolidation; ESLint ratchet. fix(ui): stabilize routine schedule editor and interrupted run labels (#8333)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source control plane people use to manage AI agents for work. > - This change touches the board UI surfaces for issue run timelines and routine schedule editing. > - Operators need cancelled runs to distinguish ordinary cancellation from human interruption, otherwise the run history reads as more severe than it is. > - Routine schedule editing also needs to preserve user-entered cron values while rendering common schedules in a stable, understandable editor. > - This pull request keeps the editor state tied to explicit schedule values, adds coverage for routine editable sections, and makes interrupted run copy more precise. > - The benefit is less surprising routine editing and clearer issue run history for operators. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No public GitHub issue is filed for this exact branch. Related public PRs: - Refs #3581, which addresses a narrower schedule reset case. - Refs #1803, which is another open schedule editor UI improvement. Problem description: Routine trigger schedules can be edited through the board UI, but the previous schedule editor path could normalize or reset cron state in ways that made unsaved edits fragile. Issue run history also labeled operator-interrupted cancelled runs like ordinary cancellations. Reviewers should treat this PR as a combined UI stabilization pass for those two visible operator workflows. ## What Changed - Added a more stable routine schedule editor flow that preserves explicit cron values and handles custom/common schedule transitions. - Wired routine editable-section state so schedule drafts do not get overwritten by unrelated section refreshes. - Added tests for schedule editor behavior, routine editable sections, and routine service schedule preservation. - Updated issue run timeline copy so operator-interrupted cancelled runs display as interrupted, while ordinary cancelled runs remain cancelled. - Kept the classic issue thread run label behavior aligned with the current issue thread surface. ## Verification - `NODE_ENV=development pnpm run preflight:workspace-links && NODE_ENV=development pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/routines-service.test.ts ui/src/components/IssueChatThread.test.tsx ui/src/components/ScheduleEditor.test.tsx ui/src/components/routine-sections/editable-sections.test.tsx` — 103 tests passed. Note: direct `pnpm exec vitest ...` without `NODE_ENV=development` loaded a React build where `React.act` is undefined in this workspace. The same targeted tests pass under the development React build. ## Risks Low to medium risk. The changes are UI-focused but touch routine schedule editing, which is a high-frequency operator workflow. The main risk is that an uncommon cron expression could render as custom when a user expected a preset; the added tests cover preservation and explicit custom handling. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-5-class coding agent. [codex] Polish routine layout follow-ups (#7858)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - Routines are the recurring-work surface that lets a company keep operating without a human manually kicking off every task > - The base routine detail Variation C shell already landed in #7848, but the follow-up branch still had polish work for scheduling, section ergonomics, and the list layout > - Operators need routine edit screens to explain trigger behavior clearly, keep long detail pages usable on mobile/touch devices, and make grouped routine lists easier to scan > - This pull request rebases the remaining branch work onto current `master`, drops the duplicate commits already merged through #7848, and keeps only the new routine UI follow-ups > - The benefit is a cleaner routines workflow without reopening the already-merged shell work or carrying unrelated lockfile, workflow, or screenshot changes ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #7848 Feature follow-up: polish the routines UI after the Variation C routine-detail shell landed. Problem / motivation: - Routine trigger configuration needs clearer previews for manual, schedule, API, and webhook execution modes. - Routine detail sections need better responsive spacing and touch ergonomics. - The routines list grouping should scan like grouped records instead of a table with heavy row dividers. - The routine tests need a React 19-compatible render helper so the focused routine suite can run in this workspace. Proposed solution: - Add cron-fire preview helpers and routine-run display helpers with focused tests. - Expand the routine editable and operate sections with richer trigger, variable, run, activity, and history presentation. - Adjust the routine detail shell and sub-sidebar spacing for mobile/touch layout. - Update grouped routine list presentation to use bordered group headers with borderless rows. - Switch affected routine tests to the repo's `flushSync` render-helper pattern. Alternatives considered: - Leaving the duplicate pre-#7848 commits in the branch would recreate conflicts and make the PR review much larger than the remaining change. - Keeping grouped routine rows inside one bordered table was simpler, but made the grouping hierarchy less legible. Roadmap alignment: - ROADMAP.md lists Scheduled Routines as a core shipped capability and Output/Enforced Outcomes as ongoing priorities. This is polish on that existing routines capability, not a new roadmap-level feature. ## What Changed - Added routine scheduling preview helpers and tests for cron/manual/API/webhook fire-policy display. - Added routine run display helpers and tests for deduped trigger labels and run-row subtitles. - Polished routine detail sections, including trigger summaries, operate views, and env/variable editing ergonomics. - Adjusted routine detail page and sub-sidebar spacing so the title/header area is less pinned and touch layouts center better. - Reworked the routines list grouped layout so group headers are bordered cards and routine rows are borderless inside each group. - Added Storybook coverage for the routines list grouped layout and updated the existing routine detail story. - Repaired routine tests to use `flushSync` helpers compatible with the installed React 19 runtime. ## Verification - `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/lib/cron-fires.test.ts ui/src/lib/routine-run-display.test.ts ui/src/pages/Routines.test.tsx ui/src/components/RoutineSubSidebar.test.tsx ui/src/components/RoutineSaveBar.test.tsx` - Result: 5 test files passed, 37 tests passed. - Confirmed the rebased PR diff does not include `pnpm-lock.yaml`, `.github/workflows/*`, or committed screenshots. - Confirmed `origin/master` is an ancestor of the pushed branch head after rebase. ## Risks - Medium UI risk: this touches the routine detail and routine list surfaces, so visual regressions are possible in edge cases not covered by the focused tests. - Low data risk: no schema, migration, server API, or lockfile changes are included. - Review note: the branch intentionally force-pushed after rebasing because the original first three commits were already merged through #7848. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-5-based coding agent runtime, with repository shell/tool access. Exact hosted runtime model identifier and context-window size were not exposed in the execution environment. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes: #` / `Closes #` / `Refs #` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [ ] If this change affects the UI, I have included before/after screenshots - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(ui): routine detail page — variation C sub-sidebar layout (PAP-10732) (#7848)
## Summary Rebuilds the routine detail page as **variation C** — a sub-sidebar shell that splits the page into **ROUTINE** (Overview · Triggers · Variables · Secrets · Delivery) and **OPERATE** (Runs · Activity · History), per the engineering spec on PAP-10730. Replaces the previous 5-tab `?tab=…` layout in `ui/src/pages/RoutineDetail.tsx`. Implements PAP-10732. Design source of truth: PAP-10730 `spec` document; approved direction PAP-10709. ## What changed - **Routing** (`ui/src/App.tsx`): real sub-routes under `routines/:routineId/:section`. Bare `/routines/:id` redirects to the last-viewed section (`localStorage`) or `overview`; old `?tab=…` URLs redirect to the matching section for back-compat. Every section URL is bookmarkable. - **Shell** (`RoutineDetail.tsx`): slim 56px sticky header (title + managed-by-plugin chip + Run / Active toggle), page-local sub-sidebar, full-canvas section body, per-section sticky save bar. All routine state/mutations stay in the shell and flow to sections via a `RoutineDetailContext`. - **New components**: `RoutineSubSidebar` (+ mobile `<Select>` picker, roving keyboard nav), `RoutineSaveBar` (scoped dirty count, ⌘/Ctrl+S save, Esc-discard confirm, 409 conflict recovery with Reload / Overwrite), `RadioCard` primitive (Delivery), `RoutineTriggerCard` (extracted from the inline editor, with human-readable cron), `RoutineActivityRow` (expandable JSON), `lib/cron-readable`, and the per-section components. - **Reuse**: History mounts the existing `RoutineHistoryTab`; Variables mounts `RoutineVariablesEditor` with a provenance banner; Secrets reuses `EnvVarEditor` + the one-time reveal banner. No backend or schema changes. - **States**: per-section loading/empty/error/save-conflict and read-only strip scaffolding (§1.6). ## Testing - New unit tests: sub-sidebar navigation/active/dirty markers, save-bar dirty + ⌘S + conflict recovery, cron helper. - Existing routine tests still pass: `Routines.test.tsx`, `RoutineHistoryTab.test.tsx`, `RoutineRunVariablesDialog.test.tsx`. - `vitest run` (routine scope): **36 passed**. Production `vite build`: **green**. - Screenshots at 1440×900 + 390×844 attached to [PAP-10732](https://example.invalid) (rendered via a new Storybook story with fixture data). ## Out of scope (per spec) - `/routines` list-page redo (follow-up). - Non-owner secret-value visibility (Open Q6 — CEO escalation; built with the spec default). --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

PAP-10430: split Issue-to-Task copy migration (#7651)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The board UI is the operator surface where users create, assign, monitor, and review work items. > - The product language is moving toward "tasks" for user-facing work items while the internal API and database still use "issues". > - PR #7543 bundled this copy migration with broader information-architecture work, which made the branch too large for Greptile review. > - This pull request peels the Issue-to-Task copy migration into a smaller, independently reviewable change. > - The benefit is clearer user-facing terminology, less agent confusion via the Paperclip skill note, and a smaller PR that Greptile can review. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #7645 Refs #7543 Refs PAP-10430 This PR was split out of #7543 so the Issue-to-Task copy migration can be reviewed separately and the remaining IA PR can fall under Greptile's file limit. ## What Changed - Preserves Scott Tong's original `PAP-57` copy-only commit, with author and co-author credit intact, to rename user-facing "Issues" copy to "Tasks" across the UI while keeping routes/API/internal symbols as `issue`. - Updates onboarding and release-smoke browser selectors from `Create & Open Issue` to `Create & Open Task`. - Adds a terminology note to `skills/paperclip/SKILL.md` clarifying that task and issue refer to the same Paperclip work item. - Resolves the only cherry-pick conflict by keeping current search artifacts support and changing visible search copy to "tasks". ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` passed. - `NODE_ENV=test pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/components/IssuesList.test.tsx ui/src/components/Sidebar.test.tsx ui/src/components/NewIssueDialog.test.tsx ui/src/pages/IssueDetail.test.tsx` passed: 4 files, 66 tests. - `git diff --check origin/master...HEAD` passed. - Diff is 80 files, below Greptile's 100-file limit. - Before/after UI copy examples: "Issues" -> "Tasks", "New Issue" -> "New Task", "Create & Open Issue" -> "Create & Open Task". ## Risks - Medium copy-risk: this intentionally changes user-facing terminology broadly while keeping internal issue identifiers and routes unchanged. - Some docs and APIs still say `issue`; the skill note clarifies this so agents do not treat task and issue as separate entities. - Browser-level visual validation is expected from CI because this local container is missing usable browser dependencies. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used Scott Tong authored the original `PAP-57` copy migration, assisted by Claude Opus 4.8 and Paperclip agents per the preserved commit metadata. Codex / GPT-5-class coding agent with shell, GitHub CLI, and repository access performed the PR split, conflict resolution, skill note, and verification. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes: #` / `Closes #` / `Refs #` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] If this change affects the UI, I have included before/after screenshots - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: scotttong <scott.tong@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

[codex] Add routine env secrets support (#6212)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies. > - Scheduled routines are the control-plane path for recurring agent work. > - Routines already had dispatch/history, but their runtime environment did not carry routine-owned secret bindings through execution. > - Operators need routine-specific secrets that can override project/agent env without exposing secret values in history, logs, or access events. > - This pull request adds the routine env runtime contract, wires it into execution, and makes the routine UI/history surfaces show safe secret metadata. > - The benefit is that routine executions can use scoped secret refs predictably while preserving company boundaries and auditability. ## What Changed - Added routine env persistence/runtime support, including `routines.env`, `routine_runs.routine_revision_id`, revision snapshots, and idempotent migration `0086_routine_env_runtime_contract`. - Resolved routine env during heartbeat adapter config assembly with precedence `agent < project < routine` and secret access events recorded against the routine consumer. - Added secret binding synchronization for routine create/update/restore flows and guarded cross-company, missing, disabled, and deleted secret cases. - Added a Secrets tab to routine detail, env/secret history diff rendering, and Storybook coverage for the new UI states. - Added server/UI regression tests, including an embedded-Postgres QA path for routine secret execution and restore behavior. - Updated implementation/database docs for routine env and secret-binding behavior. ## Verification - `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile` after rebasing onto `public-gh/master` to refresh workspace links for the newly-added upstream Grok adapter package. - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-project-env.test.ts server/src/__tests__/routines-service.test.ts server/src/__tests__/secrets-service.test.ts server/src/__tests__/qa-routine-secrets-e2e.test.ts ui/src/components/RoutineHistoryTab.test.tsx` passed: 5 files, 92 tests. - `pnpm -r typecheck` passed across the workspace. - `pnpm build` passed. Vite emitted the existing large-chunk/dynamic-import warnings. - UI screenshots were captured locally during QA in `artifacts/pap-9521/` and `artifacts/pap-9522/`; generated screenshots are not committed to avoid adding binary artifacts to the repo. ## Risks - Migration risk is limited by `IF NOT EXISTS` guards for the new columns, FK, and index, and the migration is ordered as `0086` immediately after upstream `0085`. - Runtime behavior changes env precedence for routine executions by adding routine env as the highest-precedence layer; tests cover agent/project/routine precedence. - Secret handling is security-sensitive; tests cover value-free manifests/events/errors, disabled/missing/deleted secrets, and cross-company rejection. - UI history now renders routine env/secret diffs; tests and Storybook stories cover the main rendering paths. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. Revert "fix(ui): prevent lossy cron rewrites + redesign routine triggers tab" (#5725)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents through visible, governable task and routine workflows. > - Routines are the recurring-work surface where operators configure schedules, runs, and activity. > - PR #3569 moved routine operational tabs into the right-hand properties panel while also redesigning the routine trigger editor. > - The current product request is to remove that routine properties right-tab change for now and come back to it later. > - The cleanest way to do that is a direct revert of #3569 on top of current `master`, which already includes the #5703 revert. > - This pull request restores the pre-#3569 routine trigger/detail behavior and removes the right-tab properties-panel routine layout. > - The benefit is a simple, reviewable rollback with no schema or API changes. ## What Changed - Reverted #3569: `fix(ui): prevent lossy cron rewrites + redesign routine triggers tab`. - Restored the previous `RoutineDetail` inline tabs and trigger editing flow. - Restored the earlier `ScheduleEditor` implementation. - Removed the UI components and tests introduced by #3569: `ConfirmDialog`, `TriggerDialog`, `TriggerListCard`, and `ScheduleEditor.test.ts`. ## Verification - `git diff --check origin/master..HEAD` - `pnpm vitest run ui/src/pages/Routines.test.tsx ui/src/components/RoutineHistoryTab.test.tsx` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` Notes: - `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile` was run in the clean worktree before verification. It completed with known workspace bin-link warnings for `paperclip-plugin-dev-server` because the plugin SDK `dist/dev-cli.js` has not been built in that fresh worktree. - `Routines.test.tsx` emitted existing Radix dialog accessibility warnings during the test run; the tests passed. ### Screenshots This is a direct revert of #3569. Revert "fix(ui): improve routine properties panel and history UX" (#5723)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents through visible, governable task and routine workflows. > - The routines UI includes the routine detail page, properties panel, history tab, and shared sidebar components. > - PR #5703 changed that workflow by widening the routine properties panel and moving revision inspection/comparison into dialogs. > - The product direction for that change is being paused for now, so the safest path is a direct revert instead of partial edits. > - This pull request reverts merge commit `74cb560c41305ac3283067d1ec8d3060ffdc28cb` from #5703. > - The benefit is restoring the prior routines UI behavior while keeping the revert easy to review and re-apply later if needed. ## What Changed - Reverted #5703: `fix(ui): improve routine properties panel and history UX`. - Restored the previous routine properties panel sizing, panel context API, routine detail layout, and routine history rendering behavior. - Removed the reverted sidebar pane test additions and restored the previous focused routine history test expectations. ## Verification - `git diff --check origin/master..HEAD` - `pnpm vitest run ui/src/components/RoutineHistoryTab.test.tsx` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` ### Screenshots This is a direct revert of #5703. fix(ui): improve routine properties panel and history UX (#5703)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies. > - Routines are the recurring-work surface where operators configure schedules, executions, activity, and revision history. > - The routine detail view uses a contextual right properties panel for triggers, runs, activity, and history. > - That panel was too cramped for routine workflows: the routine header could collapse at constrained widths, and revision previews/comparisons were trying to live inside the same narrow panel. > - This pull request makes the routine properties panel wider and responsive without changing the default panel behavior for other pages. > - It also moves routine revision viewing and comparison into focused dialogs so history stays usable instead of rendering dense revision content inside the right panel. > - The benefit is a cleaner routine workflow: triggers remain scannable, the main routine stays readable, and revisions can be inspected, compared, and restored without fighting the sidebar width. ## What Changed - Added optional per-panel layout options for storage key, default width, min/max width, and compact viewport behavior. - Set the routine properties panel to use its own 400px default width and persistence key, while compacting to 320px on narrower viewports. - Made the shared resizable sidebar support right-side panes, custom width bounds, compact max width, and keyboard resizing. - Fixed the routine detail header so title text and action controls remain readable beside the properties panel at constrained widths. - Reworked routine history so selecting a revision opens a read-only snapshot dialog instead of trying to render the whole revision inside the right panel. - Added a side-by-side current-vs-selected revision comparison dialog with clearer diff markers for structured fields, triggers, and variables. - Added focused tests for the resizable pane and routine history behavior. ## Verification - `pnpm vitest run ui/src/components/RoutineHistoryTab.test.tsx ui/src/components/ResizableSidebarPane.test.tsx` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` - `pnpm -r typecheck` - `git diff --check` - Browser E2E in TestCo at `http://localhost:3100/TES/dashboard`: - created and edited a routine - added, edited, toggled, and deleted schedule triggers - paused automation - ran the routine and stopped the live run - verified runs, activity, history, snapshot dialog, compare mode, restore confirmation, routine list, recent runs, row actions, panel close/reopen, and constrained-width layout ### Screenshots #### Trigger Panel Width | Before | After | | --- | --- | | <img width="1741" height="1289" alt="triggers-before" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/2a391769-c355-4219-8da3-d1ea18698430" /> | <img width="1742" height="1288" alt="triggers-after" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/9e818978-283c-49a3-9401-879be550c67b" /> | #### History Panel Before, selecting a revision attempted to show dense revision content inside the already narrow right panel. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. fix(ui): prevent lossy cron rewrites + redesign routine triggers tab (#3569)
## Thinking Path
> - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies
> - Humans configure when those agents run via **routines**, which are
driven by cron-backed triggers
> - The routine detail page exposed triggers through an always-visible
inline add form and per-row inline editor, with a ScheduleEditor that
only understood a narrow set of cron shapes
> - That combination was actively lossy: pasting `0 9,13,17 * * *`
silently collapsed to `0 10 * * *` on save, and common shapes
(every-N-minutes within a window, multiple times per day, monthly on
several dates) had no first-class UI
> - This pull request rebuilds the triggers tab around a list of cards +
add/edit modal, teaches ScheduleEditor the cron shapes users actually
want, and prevents cron round-trips from dropping data
> - It also *optionally* tucks the Triggers/Runs/Activity tabs into the
shared right-hand PropertiesPanel (same pattern as Issues and Goals) so
they stay in view alongside the routine instead of being hidden below
the main content
> - The benefit is that routine scheduling becomes non-destructive and
legible — operators can see, describe, and edit real-world schedules
without dropping into raw cron and without fear that saving will
silently rewrite their trigger
## What Changed
**Core fixes + redesign (required):**
- **ScheduleEditor correctness** — `parseCronToPreset` now detects comma
lists, ranges, steps, and unknown tokens across every cron field and
routes anything it can't round-trip losslessly to the `custom` preset
(except `dow === "1-5"` → `weekdays`). Fixes the `0 9,13,17 * * *` → `0
10 * * *` regression.
- **ScheduleEditor presets** — adds first-class support for
every-N-minutes (with optional hour window + weekdays-only),
every-N-hours, hourly at minute offset, daily with multiple times/day,
selected-days-of-week with multiple times, and monthly on multiple
dates. `describeSchedule` unfolds multi-value hour/day lists into
readable sentences.
- **ScheduleEditor polish** — swaps raw `<input type=\"checkbox\">` for
the shadcn `Checkbox` primitive so hour-window and weekdays-only toggles
match the rest of the app.
- **Triggers tab redesign** — replaces the inline add form + inline
editor with a header + \"Add trigger\" button, compact `TriggerListCard`
entries, and a `TriggerDialog` add/edit modal. Enable/disable is now a
single-click switch on each card; delete goes through a `ConfirmDialog`.
- **Webhook trigger gating** — webhook kind is visible but disabled with
\"— COMING SOON\" in the add dialog, matching the old inline form's
production behaviour. Editing existing webhook triggers still works.
- **Tests** — adds `ScheduleEditor.test.ts` covering the regression cron
strings (`0 9,13,17 * * *`, `0 */4 * * *`, `0 10,16 * * *`) plus
existing preset patterns as regression guards in the other direction.
**Optional layout change (commit `145a86b5` — can be dropped without
affecting the rest):**
- Moves Triggers/Runs/Activity into the shared right-hand
`PropertiesPanel` (persisted open/close, header toggle button),
mirroring `IssueDetail` and `GoalDetail`. The reasoning: these tabs are
the primary way a human *operates* a routine, and keeping them docked on
the right means they're always in view next to the routine content
rather than hidden below the fold. Mobile parity is preserved by
rendering the same tabs inline below `md`. Trigger cards and
run/activity rows were restructured into vertical stacks so they fit the
320px panel without overflow, and the last-result badge became a
wrapping inline chip so long error strings no longer fill the card
width.
- **If reviewers prefer to keep the tabs inline below the routine, this
commit can be reverted cleanly without touching any of the fixes
above.**

Add routine revision history and restore flow (#5285)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the control plane for autonomous AI companies. > - Routines are the scheduled/recurring work surface that keeps a company operating without manual kicks. > - Operators need routine edits to be auditable and recoverable, especially when routines control assignments, prompts, triggers, and webhook secrets. > - Documents already have revision-style safety, but routines did not have equivalent history or restore semantics. > - This pull request adds append-only routine revisions across the database, shared contracts, server routes, and board UI. > - The benefit is safer routine iteration: users can inspect history, compare changes, restore older definitions, and avoid overwriting newer edits. ## What Changed - Added `routine_revisions` storage, latest revision pointers on routines, shared types, validators, and API docs for routine revision history. - Added server service/route support for listing routine revisions, conflict-aware routine saves, and append-only restore operations. - Added a History tab on routine detail with revision preview, structured change summaries, description line diffs, dirty-edit blocking, restore confirmation, and restored webhook secret surfacing. - Extracted the line diff helper from `DocumentDiffModal` into `ui/src/lib/line-diff.ts` for reuse. - Rebased the branch onto current `public-gh/master` and renumbered the routine revision migration to `0077_unusual_karnak` after upstream `0076_useful_elektra`. - Made the `0077` routine revision migration idempotent so installs that already applied the branch-local `0076_unusual_karnak` can safely advance. - Updated the plugin SDK test harness routine fixture with the new revision fields required by the shared `Routine` contract. ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/db run check:migrations` passed. - `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/shared packages/shared/src/validators/routine.test.ts` passed. - `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/ui ui/src/lib/line-diff.test.ts ui/src/components/RoutineHistoryTab.test.tsx ui/src/lib/workspace-routines.test.ts ui/src/pages/Routines.test.tsx` passed. - `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/server server/src/__tests__/routines-service.test.ts --pool=forks --poolOptions.forks.isolate=true` passed. - `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/server server/src/__tests__/routines-routes.test.ts --pool=forks --poolOptions.forks.isolate=true` passed. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/plugin-sdk typecheck` passed after updating the SDK test harness fixture. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/plugin-sdk build` passed; this refreshed local generated SDK output needed by plugin example typechecks. - `pnpm -r typecheck` passed. ## Risks - Medium migration risk: this adds routine revision storage and backfills existing routines. The migration is ordered after upstream `0076` and uses `IF NOT EXISTS` / duplicate-object guards to tolerate earlier branch-local migration application. - Restore behavior intentionally appends a new revision instead of mutating history; callers expecting an in-place rollback need to follow the new latest revision pointer. - Restoring webhook triggers recreates webhook secret material, so users must copy newly surfaced secrets after restore. - Conflict-aware saves now reject stale routine edits when the client sends an older `baseRevisionId`. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. Expand plugin host surface (#5205)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies > - The plugin system is the extension boundary for optional product capabilities > - Rich plugins need more than a worker entrypoint: they need scoped database storage, local project folders, managed agents/routines, host navigation, and reusable UI components > - The LLM Wiki work exposed those missing host surfaces while keeping plugin code outside the core control plane > - This pull request expands the core plugin host, SDK, server APIs, and UI bridge so plugins can declare and use those surfaces > - The benefit is that future plugins can integrate with Paperclip through documented, validated contracts instead of bespoke server or UI imports ## What Changed - Added plugin-managed database namespaces and migration tracking, including Drizzle schema/migration files and SQL validation for namespace isolation. - Added server support for plugin local folders, managed agents, managed routines, scoped plugin APIs, and plugin operation visibility. - Expanded shared plugin manifest/types/validators and SDK host/testing/UI exports for richer plugin surfaces. - Added reusable UI pieces for file trees, managed routines, resizable sidebars, route sidebars, and plugin bridge initialization. - Updated plugin docs and example plugins to use the expanded host and SDK surface. ## Verification - `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile` - `pnpm run preflight:workspace-links && pnpm exec vitest run packages/shared/src/validators/plugin.test.ts server/src/__tests__/plugin-database.test.ts server/src/__tests__/plugin-local-folders.test.ts server/src/__tests__/plugin-managed-agents.test.ts server/src/__tests__/plugin-managed-routines.test.ts server/src/__tests__/plugin-orchestration-apis.test.ts ui/src/api/plugins.test.ts ui/src/components/FileTree.test.tsx ui/src/components/ResizableSidebarPane.test.tsx ui/src/pages/PluginPage.test.tsx ui/src/plugins/bridge.test.ts` passed: 11 files, 67 tests. - Confirmed this PR changes 89 files and does not include `pnpm-lock.yaml` or `.github/workflows/*`. ## Risks - Medium: this expands plugin host contracts across db/shared/server/ui and includes a new core migration (`0076_useful_elektra.sql`). - The plugin database namespace validator is intentionally restrictive; plugin authors may need follow-up affordances for SQL patterns that remain blocked. - Merge this before the LLM Wiki plugin PR so the plugin can resolve the new SDK and host APIs. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. [codex] Split PR #4692 UI/QoL updates (#4701)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents through a company-scoped control plane. > - The affected surface is the board UI for issue threads, issue lists, routines, dialogs, navigation, and issue review indicators. > - Closed PR #4692 bundled backend, schema, docs, workflow, and UI/QoL work into one oversized change set. > - Greptile could not keep reviewing that broad PR because it exceeded the 100-file review limit and mixed unrelated concerns. > - This pull request extracts the UI/QoL slice into a fresh branch under the review limit while leaving workflow and lockfile churn out. > - The benefit is a focused review path for the board UI performance and workflow improvements without reopening the oversized PR. ## What Changed - Added long issue-thread virtualization, scroll-container binding, anchor preservation, latest-comment jump targeting, and related regression/perf fixtures. - Improved issue list scalability with scroll-based loading, server offset parameters, and pagination-focused UI tests. - Reduced new issue dialog typing churn and split dialog action subscriptions so broad layout/nav surfaces avoid unnecessary renders. - Added routine variables help and routine description mention options for users, agents, and projects. - Added productivity review badge/link UI and fixed the badge to use Paperclip's company-prefixed router link. - Kept the split PR below Greptile's review limit and excluded `.github/workflows/pr.yml` and `pnpm-lock.yaml`. ## Verification - `pnpm install --no-frozen-lockfile` in the clean worktree to install `@tanstack/react-virtual` locally without committing lockfile churn. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui exec vitest run --config vitest.config.ts src/components/IssueChatThread.test.tsx src/components/IssuesList.test.tsx src/components/NewIssueDialog.test.tsx src/pages/Routines.test.tsx src/pages/Issues.test.tsx` passed: 5 files, 83 tests. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` passed. - `git diff --check origin/master..HEAD` passed. - Split-scope checks: 53 changed files; no `.github/workflows/pr.yml`; no `pnpm-lock.yaml`. - Screenshots were not captured in this heartbeat; the changes are primarily virtualization, routing, pagination, and editor behavior covered by focused regression tests. ## Risks - Moderate UI risk because issue-thread virtualization changes scroll behavior on long conversations; regression tests cover anchor jumps, latest-comment targeting, row metadata, and short-thread fallback. - Moderate integration risk because the issue-list offset parameter and productivity review field depend on matching API behavior. - Dependency risk: the UI package adds `@tanstack/react-virtual` while repository policy keeps `pnpm-lock.yaml` out of PRs, so CI must resolve dependency changes through the repo's normal lockfile policy. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. [codex] Polish issue and operator workflow UI (#4090)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip operators spend much of their time in issues, inboxes, selectors, and rich comment threads. > - Small interaction problems in those surfaces slow down supervision of AI-agent work. > - The branch included related operator quality-of-life fixes for issue layout, inbox actions, recent selectors, mobile inputs, and chat rendering stability. > - These changes are UI-focused and can land independently from workspace navigation and access-profile work. > - This pull request groups the operator QoL fixes into one standalone branch. > - The benefit is a more stable and efficient board workflow for issue triage and task editing. ## What Changed - Widened issue detail content and added a desktop inbox archive action. - Fixed mobile text-field zoom by keeping touch input font sizes at 16px. - Prioritized recent picker selections for assignees/projects in issue and routine flows. - Showed actionable approvals in the Mine inbox model. - Fixed issue chat renderer state crashes and hardened tests. ## Verification - `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile` - `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/components/IssueChatThread.test.tsx ui/src/lib/inbox.test.ts ui/src/lib/recent-selections.test.ts` - Split integration check: merged last after the other [PAP-1614](/PAP/issues/PAP-1614) branches with no merge conflicts. - Confirmed this branch does not include `pnpm-lock.yaml`. ## Risks - Low to medium risk: mostly UI state, layout, and selection-priority behavior. - Visual layout and mobile zoom behavior may need browser/device QA beyond component tests. - No database migrations are included. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex, GPT-5.4 tool-enabled coding model, agentic code-editing/runtime with local shell and GitHub CLI access; exact context window and reasoning mode are not exposed by the Paperclip harness. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] If this change affects the UI, I have included before/after screenshots - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

[codex] improve issue and routine UI responsiveness (#3744)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies > - Operators rely on issue, inbox, and routine views to understand what the company is doing in real time > - Those views need to stay fast and readable even when issue lists, markdown comments, and run metadata get large > - The current branch had a coherent set of UI and live-update improvements spread across issue search, issue detail rendering, routine affordances, and workspace lookups > - This pull request groups those board-facing changes into one standalone branch that can merge independently of the heartbeat/runtime work > - The benefit is a faster, clearer issue and routine workflow without changing the underlying task model ## What Changed - Show routine execution issues by default and rename the filter to `Hide routine runs` so the default state no longer looks like an active filter. - Show the routine name in the run dialog and tighten the issue properties pane with a workspace link, copy-on-click behavior, and an inline parent arrow. - Reduce issue detail rerenders, keep queued issue chat mounted, improve issues page search responsiveness, and speed up issues first paint. - Add inbox "other search results", refresh visible issue runs after status updates, and optimize workspace lookups through summary-mode execution workspace queries. - Improve markdown wrapping and scrolling behavior for long strings and self-comment code blocks. - Relax the markdown sanitizer assertion so the test still validates safety after the new wrap-friendly inline styles. ## Verification - `pnpm vitest run ui/src/components/IssuesList.test.tsx ui/src/lib/inbox.test.ts ui/src/pages/Issues.test.tsx ui/src/context/BreadcrumbContext.test.tsx ui/src/context/LiveUpdatesProvider.test.ts ui/src/components/MarkdownBody.test.tsx ui/src/api/execution-workspaces.test.ts server/src/__tests__/execution-workspaces-routes.test.ts` ## Risks - This touches several issue-facing UI surfaces at once, so regressions would most likely show up as stale rendering, search result mismatches, or small markdown presentation differences. - The workspace lookup optimization depends on the summary-mode route shape staying aligned between server and UI. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex, GPT-5-based coding agent in the Codex CLI environment. Exact backend model deployment ID was not exposed in-session. Tool-assisted editing and shell execution were used. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [ ] If this change affects the UI, I have included before/after screenshots - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

[codex] Harden execution reliability and heartbeat tooling (#3679)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies > - Reliable execution depends on heartbeat routing, issue lifecycle semantics, telemetry, and a fast enough local verification loop to keep regressions visible > - The remaining commits on this branch were mostly server/runtime correctness fixes plus test and documentation follow-ups in that area > - Those changes are logically separate from the UI-focused issue-detail and workspace/navigation branches even when they touch overlapping issue APIs > - This pull request groups the execution reliability, heartbeat, telemetry, and tooling changes into one standalone branch > - The benefit is a focused review of the control-plane correctness work, including the follow-up fix that restored the implicit comment-reopen helpers after branch splitting ## What Changed - Hardened issue/heartbeat execution behavior, including self-review stage skipping, deferred mention wakes during active execution, stranded execution recovery, active-run scoping, assignee resolution, and blocked-to-todo wake resumption - Reduced noisy polling/logging overhead by trimming issue run payloads, compacting persisted run logs, silencing high-volume request logs, and capping heartbeat-run queries in dashboard/inbox surfaces - Expanded telemetry and status semantics with adapter/model fields on task completion plus clearer status guidance in docs/onboarding material - Updated test infrastructure and verification defaults with faster route-test module isolation, cheaper default `pnpm test`, e2e isolation from local state, and repo verification follow-ups - Included docs/release housekeeping from the branch and added a small follow-up commit restoring the implicit comment-reopen helpers that were dropped during branch reconstruction ## Verification - `pnpm vitest run server/src/__tests__/issue-comment-reopen-routes.test.ts server/src/__tests__/issue-telemetry-routes.test.ts` - `pnpm vitest run server/src/__tests__/http-log-policy.test.ts server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-run-log.test.ts server/src/__tests__/health.test.ts` - `server/src/__tests__/activity-service.test.ts`, `server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-comment-wake-batching.test.ts`, and `server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-process-recovery.test.ts` were attempted on this host but the embedded Postgres harness reported init-script/data-dir problems and skipped or failed to start, so they are noted as environment-limited ## Risks - Medium: this branch changes core issue/heartbeat routing and reopen/wakeup behavior, so regressions would affect agent execution flow rather than isolated UI polish - Because it also updates verification infrastructure, reviewers should pay attention to whether the new tests are asserting the right failure modes and not just reshaping harness behavior ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex coding agent (GPT-5-class runtime in Codex CLI; exact deployed model ID is not exposed in this environment), reasoning enabled, tool use and local code execution enabled ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [ ] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [ ] If this change affects the UI, I have included before/after screenshots - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

feat(server): add github_hmac and none webhook signing modes
Adds two new webhook trigger signing modes for external provider compatibility: - github_hmac: accepts X-Hub-Signature-256 header with HMAC-SHA256(secret, rawBody), no timestamp prefix. Compatible with GitHub, Sentry, and services following the same standard. - none: no authentication; the 24-char hex publicId in the URL acts as the shared secret. For services that cannot add auth headers. The replay window UI field is hidden when these modes are selected since neither uses timestamp-based replay protection. Default size is h-6/w-10 on mobile, h-5/w-9 on desktop; "lg" variant is h-7/w-12 on mobile, h-6/w-11 on desktop. Co-Authored-By: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

Add missing data-slot="toggle" to Routines toggle buttons
The initial mobile toggle fix (afc3d7ec) missed 2 toggle switches in RoutineDetail.tsx and Routines.tsx. Without the attribute, these toggles would still inflate to 44px on touch devices via the @media (pointer: coarse) rule. Co-Authored-By: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

Move routine title into header row, remove Automation label
The editable title now sits in the header alongside Run Now and the active/paused toggle, replacing the old "Automation" subheading. This removes the redundant label and gives the title top-level prominence in the routine detail view. Fix live run indicator: only show blue dot when a run is actually active
Previously used routine run status ("received"/"issue_created") which
are not the right signal. Now queries heartbeatsApi.liveRunsForIssue()
on the active issue to check if an agent is actually running — the same
source of truth the LiveRunWidget uses.

Fix live run indicator: only show blue dot when a run is actually active
The blue dot and LiveRunWidget were driven by `routine.activeIssue`, which returns any open execution issue — even after the heartbeat run finishes. Now checks routineRuns for status "received" or "issue_created" to determine if a run is actually in progress. Co-Authored-By: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

Improve routine configuration: delete triggers, fix pause, add feedback
- Add trash icon button to delete triggers (full stack: service, route, API client, UI) - Fix pause/unpause bug where saving routine could revert status by excluding status from the save payload (status is managed via dedicated pause/resume buttons) - Add toast feedback for run, pause, and resume actions - Auto-switch to Runs tab after triggering a manual run - Add live update invalidation for routine/trigger/run activity events Co-Authored-By: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |
