DottaandPaperclip 473c80d13f Automatically import and update project repository skills (#16066)
Automatically import skills from new GitHub project repositories and update enabled sources in the background. Preserve project-derived access, saved selections, immutable execution versions and explicit pins; add legacy adoption, refresh and connection repair in Sources.

Include durable scheduling and bounded work credits, production Storybook journeys, real GitHub-to-routine acceptance receipts and final-head CI/security/Greptile qualification.

DottaandPaperclip a65ca09508 fix(runner): settle accepted results after shutdown failures (#15217)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip manages AI agents and the tasks they perform.
> - The native runner saves tool results and completion reports before
it releases a session.
> - Large project discovery responses can exceed the durable command
limit.
> - A shutdown failure can leave a saved answer waiting for workspace
repair.
> - Recovery reused the old assessment for a different status decision,
which violated a database constraint.
> - This pull request bounds discovery responses and lets recovery
commit the saved result after workspace repair.
> - The benefit is a task that reaches its correct final status without
another provider turn.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**What happened?**

A native run can save its final answer, fail during shutdown, and leave
the task In Progress after workspace repair succeeds. Reconciliation
tries to reuse the failed-workspace assessment for a new decision. The
one-decision-per-assessment constraint rejects the write. Replaying the
old decision can also retain a fresh coordinator lease. Separately,
retained session cleanup only recognizes the old `adapter_failed` label.

The project-list tool returns full project records, including large
descriptions and workspace configuration. A large response exceeds the
runner's durable command limit. The settlement diagnostic previously
recorded only a failure flag.

**Expected behavior**

Project discovery stays within the command limit. Recovery finishes the
saved result after workspace repair, releases its lease, and preserves
the original error for inspection. It does not repeat provider work or
relax session ownership checks.

**Steps to reproduce**

1. Return large project records from `list_projects` and observe an
oversized semantic result.
2. Persist an accepted native completion result, then record a shutdown
failure.
3. Finalize with a failed workspace, repeat that attempt, then record
successful workspace repair.
4. Reconcile the run. Before this fix, the issue stays In Progress.

**Paperclip version or commit**

Reproduced on `a386a599983519eb1d399f8b770bfccdb2a74762`.

**Deployment mode**

Self-hosted server with Paperclip Runner.

Related transport work: #12208 drains queued events; #12241 resumes
interrupted semantic calls. This change addresses bounded project
discovery and accepted-result finalization.

## What Changed

- Read bounded project summary projections from the database and return
at most 50 authorized summaries with a continuation cursor and explicit
description truncation. Agent and run trust boundaries narrow the
database candidates; project-specific policies still receive full
authorization. Only visible projects determine continuations. The
default project-list API remains unchanged.
- Record bounded, content-free settlement failure causes for command
limits, storage errors, and rejected dispatch.
- Include workspace state in assessment identity. Preserve the initial
assessment for interrupted finalization, and commit replacement
assessment and decision references together.
- Release the coordinator lease when an existing decision is replayed,
without repeating its effects.
- Clear stale errors when recovery succeeds and retain them in
`recoveredExecutionFailure`.
- Accept both current and legacy close-failure labels in the existing
exact-state cleanup path.
- Add regression tests and update the tool contracts and recovery
documentation.

## Verification

- Red: the new project paging, settlement diagnostic, current cleanup
label, and repaired-workspace regressions failed on the original
implementation.
- Green: protocol/catalog/tool checks (117 tests), the full project-tool
and finalizer suites (47 tests), cleanup ownership cases (70 tests), and
cleanup sweep cases (4 tests) pass. Database-backed pagination covers
large descriptions/configuration, complete enumeration, uppercase
cursors, agent/run restrictions, project-policy scope contributions, and
identical results/cursors when hidden projects are added.
- The initial CI failures in interrupted Board waits, contended endpoint
proof, and semantic schema validation were reproduced and fixed; all
affected cases pass locally.
- `pnpm -r typecheck` — passed.
- `pnpm build` — passed.
- `pnpm test:run` — started before the review corrections; it spanned
several source revisions and was stopped after reporting old-behavior
and timing failures. It is not claimed green. Fresh project and recovery
suites pass; the recovery suite also passes all 25 cases with the broad
runner’s isolated home/config. The Slack timing case passed in
isolation. Latest-head CI is the authoritative complete test matrix.
- Existing authorization suite — 66 tests passed.
- Latest-head CI on `8e5763d915aa6f375bdab6601996899ea01496fc` — 55
checks passed, 4 intentionally skipped, no pending or failing checks.
- Greptile — 5/5, zero unresolved threads on the same commit.
- `git diff --check` — passed.

## Risks

- `list_projects` now returns summaries. Callers must follow
`nextCursor` and use the authorized project API for full records.
Candidate narrowing is only an optimization: project policy and
responsible-user authorization remain authoritative.
- Assessment identity changes for workspace finalization. Existing
evidence remains intact; no migration is needed.
- Cleanup still requires matching identities, settled tool evidence, and
verified process ownership. Unknown tool outcomes remain blocked from
session reuse.

## Model Used

OpenAI Codex, based on GPT-6, with reasoning, code execution, and GitHub
tools. The exact serving model ID and context window are not exposed in
this session.

DottaandPaperclip ab15aff390 feat: add experimental persistent agent chat (#13284)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - Conversations must use the same tasks, controls, and execution
history.
> - Users need an ongoing chat with an agent without managing task
properties.
> - Agents should clarify and plan work, then hand execution to assigned
project tasks.
> - This pull request combines the reviewed Agent Chat stack for one
squash merge.
> - The benefit is persistent conversation with normal task governance
and shared UI.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**Subsystem affected**

Task lifecycle, agent runtime tools, shared task UI, and browser/paid
runner tests.

**Problem or motivation**

Users need one persistent conversation with each agent. A separate chat
store or renderer would duplicate task behavior and bypass existing
controls.

**Proposed solution**

Use a task-backed chat per company, user, and agent. Reuse the task
composer and transcript. Clarify and plan in chat, then create assigned
project tasks with the relevant plan. Keep Agent Chat behind its own
disabled-by-default experimental setting.

**Roadmap alignment**

This implements the task-backed direction in [CEO
Chat](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/blob/master/ROADMAP.md#-ceo-chat).
Related proposals: #2504 and #9693. Related request: #7981. The
maintainer requested one squash merge of the complete stack.

Consolidates the reviewed runtime
[#13281](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/13281), backend
[#13282](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/13282), and UI
[#13283](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/13283) layers
with this PR's E2E coverage. All four layers passed CI and received
Greptile 5/5 before consolidation. This PR targets master and includes
the complete feature.

## What Changed

- Add personal canonical chat tasks with ordinary company visibility,
immutable identity, idempotent first sends, and an idle waiting state.
- Process `/new` in queue order. Preserve history, release a chat pause,
and fence old provider context and delayed writes.
- Keep chat lifecycle rules across recovery, finalization, assignment,
task lists, and rollups.
- Support research and plan revision in chat. Hand plans to ordinary
assigned project tasks before execution starts. Reject new chat
subtasks.
- Add repository-aware project creation and discovery tools, including
multiple repository IDs and GitHub URLs, authorization, idempotency, and
durable project-created cards.
- Reuse task UI components for chat, with starred/recent agent
navigation and a separate `enableAgentChat` experimental flag.
- Add deterministic browser tests and 24 paid chat cells across four
Codex/Claude profiles, with validated reports and screenshots.
- Integrate current master recovery, controller lease, queued-message,
and task UI changes. Gate chat interruption and deferred promotion on
ownership/feature policy. Guarantee lease renewal and active controls
are stopped even if teardown fails.
- Preserve master's migration 0273 and generate chat migration 0274 with
idempotent replay for development databases.

## Verification

- Prior exact heads of all four PRs passed Linux CI, including build,
typecheck, general/serialized tests, and browser E2E. Each had Greptile
5/5 and no unresolved findings.
- Integrated local verification passed: full repository typecheck and
production build, Storybook build, token gates, 340 focused UI tests,
all 20 deterministic chat browser tests, two migration replay tests, 88
focused chat/queue/native/controller tests, and provider/session
regressions including real lease expiry. These include the three
lifecycle regressions for the final admission/teardown fixes; server
typecheck also passes. Current head
`1268eda16cc2af892055917e7292f068820be135` has Greptile 5/5 with no
unresolved findings and passing security scans. All final-head CI gates
passed: build, full Runner verification, typecheck/release registry,
canary, all general/serialized test shards, and all browser E2E shards
([CI
run](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/34696739927)).
Local PostgreSQL startup contention required serialized retries; skipped
fixtures do not count as passing coverage.
- The earlier paid campaign passed all 24 chat cells and retained 32
screenshots:
[report](https://d1p6rlowie26tp.cloudfront.net/runner-e2e/campaigns/gha-34648511170-1/index.html?report=agent-chat#suite-agent-chat).
It tested `abacbdfd2f660709ec37312cdb758284c8399d04`; it is prior
evidence, not a paid run of this integrated head.
- Manual check: enable Agent Chat in Experimental settings, open an
agent, clarify and revise a plan, then hand off to an assigned project
task. Stop a reply, send `/new`, and verify fresh context with retained
history. Disable the setting and verify agent shortcuts/new chat turns
are blocked.

## Risks

- Queue/session integration can affect retries and delayed writes. Tests
cover ownership, cancellation, reset boundaries, idle recovery, and
ordinary task behavior.
- Migration 0274 adds conversation fields and constraints. Replay is
idempotent and preserves existing development chat history.
- This combines the previously reviewed stack at the maintainer's
request. Agent Chat remains off by default and is separate from
Conference Room.

## Model Used

OpenAI Codex, GPT-6 Astra (`gpt-6-astra`), with reasoning, code
execution, browser tools, and parallel review. The exact context-window
size is not exposed in this session. Codex and Claude also ran as test
subjects in the linked paid campaign.

DottaandPaperclip b97101893f feat(projects): select multiple GitHub source repositories (#13010)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - Projects give tasks a common source repository and execution
context.
> - The current project form asks for a raw URL and unrelated metadata.
> - Teams need to select several repos from GitHub connections they can
use.
> - This pull request implements the reviewed project form and
repository editor.
> - The server checks credential ownership and shared audiences before
discovery.
> - Existing workspace URLs and runtime identity rules remain
compatible.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**Problem or motivation**

Project creation accepts one raw repository URL. It does not help users
select repos from their usable GitHub connections or attach several
repos together.

**Proposed solution**

Add a shared GitHub repository picker to project creation and
Configuration. Support multiple selections, transactional persistence,
and the existing GitHub setup flow. Simplify the project form and
Configuration tab as reviewed.

**Alternatives considered**

Keep a raw URL field or add a separate repository table. The existing
workspace collection already supports several repositories and keeps
legacy URLs compatible.

**Roadmap alignment**

This builds on the shipped MCP Tool Gateway and Apps capability. It does
not change runtime credential delegation.

Related work: #11662 addresses the existing dialog's viewport limits.
#4552 addresses generic Git URLs; this change preserves those URLs in
existing workspaces.

## What Changed

- Add company-scoped repository discovery from usable personal and
shared GitHub grants, with provider-ID deduplication, PAT pagination,
and partial failure handling.
- Document the repository endpoints and board access requirements in
OpenAPI.
- Validate new selections and save projects with multiple repository
workspaces in one transaction. Preserve legacy URLs and existing
selections whose access was lost.
- Implement the reviewed Create project dialog, shared repository
editor, scrolling, and mobile layout.
- Move repositories above environment variables, remove Status and Goals
controls and env help paragraphs, move Created to the bottom, and
redirect Overview to Configuration.
- Reuse GitHub setup in dialogs, preserve project drafts, and verify
popup completion through the API.
- Replace the configuration story's DOM adapter with explicit production
composition. Keep the reviewed mobile and short-viewport stories.

## Verification

- Passed: `pnpm build`, `pnpm -r typecheck`, `pnpm build-storybook`, and
`pnpm check:token-gates`.
- Passed: focused repository access, database persistence,
configuration, and connection setup tests.
- Passed: `pnpm exec playwright test --config
tests/e2e/playwright.config.ts tests/e2e/project-repositories.spec.ts`.
- The browser tests use a real temporary server/database. They cover
create, forty persisted repos, mobile scrolling, save/reload, legacy URL
editing, and rejection without a partial project.
- GitHub responses and popup completion use deterministic fixtures. No
real GitHub account was authorized by the test suite.
- All CI general, serialized server, and browser test shards pass on the
final commit.
- The local full-suite run overlapped review edits and was stopped;
fresh repository, OpenAPI, UI/CLI, and connection tests pass. Unrelated
local worker, built-in-agent, and routine timing/socket failures passed
isolated reruns.
- Final commit `1b3308dca`: all CI gates pass, including build, runner
verification, typecheck, canary dry run, and security checks. Greptile
is 5/5 with no unresolved review threads.
- Storybook visual regression is opt-in and was skipped by CI; the
Storybook build passed locally.

## Risks

- Repository discovery depends on provider availability. Failed
connections are reported while successful results stay usable.
- Selections identify source workspaces; they do not grant agents new
credentials. The existing primary-workspace and responsible-user
identity rules still apply.
- No database migration is needed. Existing API status, goals, dates,
and manual workspace URLs remain supported.

## Model Used

OpenAI Codex, based on GPT-6, with repository inspection, code
execution, and browser tools. The runtime does not expose a more
specific model deployment ID or context-window size.

DottaandPaperclip 9dd6526b47 fix(security): harden privileged server boundaries (#12776)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work
> - The server controls secrets, host files, outbound requests, and
workspace commands
> - A red-team review found cases where restricted callers could cross
these trust boundaries
> - These cases could expose credentials or let untrusted input reach
privileged resources
> - This pull request applies least-privilege checks at each affected
server boundary
> - The benefit is safer agent execution without changing the
private-instance bootstrap contract

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**What happened?**

Several server paths used authorization, redaction, or content-delivery
rules that were too broad. Restricted agent keys could obtain
company-level operational data. Some adapter and instruction paths could
reach server-owned network or file resources without the required owner
approval.

**Expected behavior**

Paperclip must redact credential values, enforce restricted-key scopes,
guard outbound network access, prevent same-origin script execution, and
reserve host-level file and command controls for authorized operators.

**Steps to reproduce**

1. Configure an authenticated development instance at the parent commit.
2. Exercise the affected APIs with a restricted agent key or a
non-instance-admin company user.
3. Observe that the parent commit returns privileged data or accepts a
privileged operation.
4. Repeat on this branch and observe a redacted response, a safe
download, or an HTTP 403 response.

**Paperclip version or commit**

The findings reproduce from commit `39898ab22` and are fixed by this
pull request.

**Deployment mode**

Authenticated self-hosted server and local development modes.

**Installation method**

Built from source with pnpm.

## What Changed

- Redact generic secret `value` and `token` fields recursively in
structured logs.
- Classify exact and separator-suffixed `KEY` environment names as
secrets in company exports.
- Limit restricted self-identity responses and protect company run, log,
and secret catalog APIs.
- Route HTTP adapter requests through DNS-pinned SSRF protection with
exact private-origin allowlisting.
- Download HTML, SVG, and other script-capable assets with `nosniff` and
a sandbox CSP.
- Require instance-admin access for external instruction roots and
exports that read them.
- Block agent-authenticated host command persistence across supported
workspace runtime shapes.
- Apply the central runtime-management decision before workspace command
controls.
- Keep the documented first-user instance-admin claim contract
unchanged.
- Add regression tests and server-owner configuration documentation.

## Verification

- `pnpm -r typecheck` passes.
- The Node 24 remediation suite passes with 365 tests. It skips 25
environment-gated tests.
- `pnpm build` passes under Node 24.
- `git diff --check` passes.
- The full local runner reaches known macOS-only general-server harness
failures before the serialized route lane. The Linux PR matrix is the
authoritative full-suite gate.

## Risks

- Restricted agent keys now receive HTTP 403 responses from company-wide
run, log, and secret catalog endpoints.
- Script-capable assets now download instead of rendering inline.
- External instruction roots now require instance-admin access.
- Private HTTP adapter endpoints now require an exact origin in
`PAPERCLIP_HTTP_ADAPTER_PRIVATE_ENDPOINT_ALLOWLIST`.
- Public HTTP adapter endpoints remain enabled. Redirects and metadata
or link-local targets remain blocked.
- No database migration is required.

## Model Used

OpenAI Codex, GPT-5. The exact serving snapshot and context-window size
are not exposed. The model used tool-enabled reasoning, repository
access, code execution, and test execution.

DottaandPaperclip b51112798f feat(apps): improve gateway and workspace connection UX (#12340)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - App connections must work in both the operator UI and agent tool
gateway.
> - The first stack layer adds secure remote connections.
> - Operators still need clear setup, test, and recovery states.
> - This pull request adds the gateway behavior and the workspace
connection experience.
> - The benefit is a connection flow that is easier to understand and
recover.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

Refs #11965

This is stack 2 of 11. It depends on stack 1 and replaces another
reviewable part of #11965.

## What Changed

- Improve remote tool gateway connection behavior.
- Add clearer app setup, test, and recovery states.
- Add focused server and UI tests for the new paths.
- Keep the diff isolated from later identity and catalog work.
- Stabilize DNS-pinned remote HTTP protocol fixtures and the
managed-runtime public-origin fixture for this independently tested
layer.

## Verification

- `pnpm -r typecheck`
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run
src/__tests__/tool-access-service.test.ts` (150 passed)
- `pnpm test:run`
- `pnpm check:token-gates`
- `pnpm build`

## Risks

- Gateway errors now surface through new user-facing states.
- A stale connection can require a new setup attempt.
- The change does not add a database migration.
- The injected HTTP transport and public URL are test-only fixtures;
production DNS pinning and runtime behavior are unchanged.

> I checked `ROADMAP.md`. This stack continues the existing app
connection work from #11965 and does not duplicate another planned item.

## Model Used

OpenAI Codex, GPT-5. The runtime model ID and context window were not
exposed. The model used reasoning, tool use, and code execution.

Devin Foley 7b91fe9ea7 Hide host-path and execution-engine surfaces in managed-sandbox-only mode (#12293)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work
> - An instance can turn on the `enableManagedSandboxOnly` feature,
which hides the local environment and runs every agent in the
platform-managed environment
> - That feature already gated the environment pickers, the onboarding
wizard, and the server-side run selection, but many other screens still
showed absolute paths on the execution host and still let the user pick
an execution engine
> - On such an instance those controls name a filesystem the user cannot
reach; a path written there is stored and then ignored, which reads as a
broken control
> - This pull request hides the remaining host-path and execution-engine
surfaces behind the same feature, adds a server rule that refuses a
project-workspace path write while the feature is on, and closes a
related route gap in the isolated-workspace pages
> - The benefit is that a managed instance shows no host path and no
folder picker anywhere, and a write that carries a path now fails with a
clear message instead of being silently discarded

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

No public issue exists. The description below follows
`.github/ISSUE_TEMPLATE/enhancement.yml`.

**What existing behavior does this improve?**

The `enableManagedSandboxOnly` instance feature, and the UI surfaces
that show
a host filesystem path: project properties, the new-project dialog, the
project
workspace and execution workspace detail pages, the workspace and task
cards,
plugin local folders, and the agent configuration form with its
per-adapter
fields. It also improves route gating for `enableIsolatedWorkspaces`.

**Subsystem affected**

Cross-cutting (`ui/` and `server/`).

**Current behavior**

When `enableManagedSandboxOnly` is on, the local environment disappears
from the
environment pickers and the server refuses to run an agent on the local
host.
Everything else stays visible. A user still sees:

- the project "Local folder" row, its absolute path, and the
Set/Change/Clear buttons
- the "Local folder" field and its "Choose" folder picker in the
new-project dialog
- the "Local path" field and fact row on a project workspace
- the "Paths" and "Lifecycle commands" groups on an execution workspace
- the working directory on workspace cards, task properties, and runtime
service rows
- the plugin "Local folders" section
- "Working directory (deprecated)", "Command", "Execution engine",
"ACP server command", "ACP state directory", and "Agent instructions
file" in
  the agent configuration form

A path typed into any of these names a filesystem no agent on the
instance uses.
The project workspace API also accepts a `cwd` write and stores it.

Separately, `/workspaces`, `/execution-workspaces/*`, and
`/projects/:projectId/workspaces/:workspaceId` render for anyone who
types or
bookmarks the URL, even with `enableIsolatedWorkspaces` off. Only the
sidebar
entry reads that flag.

**Proposed behavior**

With `enableManagedSandboxOnly` on, none of those surfaces render. A
project
whose codebase came from a managed checkout keeps its one-line
"Paperclip-managed folder." label and shows no path. The non-path
controls stay:
repo URL, branch, service URL, port, command output, ACP session mode,
ACP
non-interactive permissions, Codex fast mode, and the sandbox toggles.

The project-workspace create and patch routes, and the nested workspace
on
project create, answer `422` with
"This instance runs agents only in the platform-managed environment;
local
folders are not configurable." when the payload carries a non-null
`cwd`.
A `cwd: null` write still passes, so an instance that just turned the
feature on
can clear a stale path.

With `enableIsolatedWorkspaces` off, the three workspace route groups
redirect to
the dashboard.

**Reason and benefit**

A control that cannot do anything is worse than a missing control: the
user fills
it in, saves, and gets no error and no effect. The server rule turns
that silent
no-op into a clear refusal. The route gate stops a feature that an
instance has
turned off from staying reachable by URL, which is the same standard the
Cases,
Pipelines, and hidden-settings pages already meet.

**Breaking changes**

None for a default instance: both flags are off by default for
self-hosted and
managed instances, so nothing changes unless an operator turns them on.
Stored
`adapterConfig` values are never cleared, so turning the feature off
restores
every previous value.

## What Changed

- Add `ui/src/hooks/useManagedSandboxOnly.ts`, modelled on
`useAppsEnabled`, for
components that do not already read the experimental settings. It
exposes
`hideHostPaths`, which fails closed while the settings query is in
flight, so
a cold cache never flashes a host path before the policy resolves.
Components
that keep their own settings read compute the same gate from
`isFetched`.
- Add `managedSandboxOnly` to `AdapterConfigFieldsProps` and populate it
where
`AgentConfigForm` builds the adapter field props. Resolve the effective
instructions-file gate once as `hideInstructionsFile || hideHostPaths`,
so
every adapter hides that path field with no per-adapter edit.
- Hide under the flag: the project "Local folder" block and its
absolute-path
edit panel (a managed checkout keeps its label, without the path); the
new-project "Local folder" field; the project-workspace "Local path"
field and
fact row; the execution-workspace "Paths" and "Lifecycle commands"
groups; the
working directory on the workspace summary card, the task workspace
card, the
task properties "Folder" row, and the runtime service rows; the plugin
"Local
folders" section; "Working directory (deprecated)" and "Command" in the
agent
form; and the per-adapter "Execution engine", "ACP server command", and
"ACP state directory" for `claude_local`, `codex_local`, and
`gemini_local`.
- Drop two working-directory fallbacks that had no gate to read: the
close-workspace
dialog now falls back to "No additional details", and the reuse-existing
workspace label and picker subtitle fall back to a neutral phrase.
- Refuse a non-null `cwd` with `422` on `POST /projects/:id/workspaces`,
`PATCH /projects/:id/workspaces/:workspaceId`, and the nested workspace
on
  `POST /companies/:companyId/projects`, following the
  `assertNoAgentHostWorkspaceCommandMutation` precedent on those routes.
- Add `IsolatedWorkspacesRouteGate` and wrap the `/workspaces`,
`/execution-workspaces/*`, and
`/projects/:projectId/workspaces/:workspaceId`
  routes with it.
- Leave the SSH "Remote workspace path" and the workspace file browser
alone,
  with a comment explaining why.

## Verification

Automated:

- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui exec vitest run` — 479 of 480 files
pass
(4455 of 4456 tests). The one failure is `OnboardingWizard.test.tsx >
renders
instead of throwing when the browser denies storage access`, which also
fails
on `origin/master` and is unrelated to this change.
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run project workspace
instance-settings`
— 45 of 50 files pass. Four files fail on macOS for reasons unrelated to
this
  change: `workspace-instance-cleanup`, `workspace-runtime`,
  `execution-workspace-runtime-control-conflict`, and
`workspace-runtime-exposure` compare `/var/...` against the resolved
`/private/var/...` or bind real ports. The same files fail on a clean
`master`
  checkout on the same machine.
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck`
- `tsc --noEmit` in `server/` (after
`pnpm --filter @paperclipai/plugin-sdk ensure-build-deps`). The package
`typecheck` script also builds the Rust runner, which needs `cargo`; it
is not
installed on the machine that ran this.

New and extended tests:

- `ui/src/adapters/managed-sandbox-only-config-fields.test.tsx` — the
three
adapters drop the execution engine, the ACP paths, the instructions-file
path,
and every "Choose" button when the flag is on, and keep the non-path
controls.
- `ui/src/components/AgentConfigForm.render.test.tsx` — flag-on and
flag-off
renders for the working directory, the command, the engine, the ACP
paths, and
  the resolved adapter field props.
- `ui/src/components/ProjectProperties.managed-sandbox.test.tsx`,
  `ui/src/components/NewProjectDialog.managed-sandbox.test.tsx`,
  `ui/src/pages/ProjectWorkspaceDetail.test.tsx`,
  `ui/src/components/ProjectWorkspaceSummaryCard.test.tsx`,
  `ui/src/components/WorkspaceRuntimeControls.test.tsx`.
- `ui/src/components/IsolatedWorkspacesRouteGate.test.tsx` — redirect
when off,
render when on, and render nothing while the flag query is in flight.
- "Still loading" cases for the project properties, the new-project
dialog, the
workspace summary card, the runtime service rows, and the agent
configuration
form, each asserting that no host path renders before the policy
resolves.
-
`server/src/__tests__/project-workspace-managed-sandbox-routes.test.ts`
— the
`422` on all three write paths, the `cwd: null` pass-through, and the
  flag-off pass-through.

Manual check to reproduce: turn on Managed Environment Only in instance
experimental settings, then open a project, the new-project dialog, an
agent's
configuration, and a workspace page. No path, folder icon, or "Choose"
button
appears. Turn the setting off and each control returns with its stored
value.

No documentation change was needed. The operator-facing text for both
settings
lives in the feature catalog entry, which already states the contract
this pull
request now enforces across the UI.

## Risks

- Low. Both flags default to off, so a default instance is unchanged.
- The hidden fields are presentation only. No stored `adapterConfig`
value is
cleared, because an import carries adapter configuration written on
another
instance and clearing it would break that flow. Turning the setting off
shows
  every previous value again.
- The `422` is the one behavior change for an API caller, and only while
the
setting is on. `cwd: null` still passes so a stale path can be cleared.
- The route gate renders nothing until the flag query settles, so an
instance
with isolated workspaces on never flashes a redirect. An instance with
the
feature off now redirects a bookmarked workspace URL to the dashboard.
- Every host-path guard fails closed while the settings query is in
flight, so a
default instance shows those controls a moment later than before on a
cold
load. That is the safe direction: the alternative flashes a path a
managed
  instance must never show.
- Two path surfaces stay on purpose, each with a comment: the SSH
"Remote
workspace path" is a path on the user's own remote host, and the
workspace file
browser shows workspace-relative paths. The instance Adapters page also
keeps
its "Local path" install option, since that page is an instance-admin
surface
the hosting operator can already hide through the hidden-settings
mechanism.

417336f8be fix(workspaces): attach PR preparation to existing branches (#11703)
<!-- Write all pull request text in Simplified Technical English
(ASD-STE100): short sentences, one instruction per sentence, simple
approved vocabulary, and the active voice. -->

## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - Execution workspaces isolate an agent task from the primary
checkout.
> - Pull request preparation can need a branch that already contains
completed work.
> - The workspace policy could not require an exact existing branch.
> - Workspace cleanup also treated worktree creation as branch
ownership.
> - This pull request adds an exact existing-branch policy and separate
branch ownership metadata.
> - The benefit is safe pull request preparation that preserves every
existing commit and operator-owned branch.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**What happened?**

A pull request preparation run could not pin its execution workspace to
an exact existing branch. Workspace reuse and cleanup could also confuse
worktree creation with branch ownership.

**Expected behavior**

The run must attach only to the requested branch in an isolated Git
worktree. It must fail if the branch is missing, busy, or inconsistent.
Cleanup must not delete a branch that Paperclip does not own.

**Steps to reproduce**

1. Create a branch that contains completed work.
2. Configure a pull request preparation task to use that branch.
3. Start the task and observe that the prior policy cannot require the
exact branch.

**Paperclip version or commit**

This behavior reproduces on the base revision before this pull request.

**Deployment mode**

Local development with isolated Git worktrees.

## What Changed

- Add `existingBranch` to the execution workspace policy and shared
validation contracts.
- Require `existingBranch` to use an isolated Git worktree and reject
conflicting branch templates.
- Attach to the exact branch without creating, renaming, resetting, or
deleting it.
- Track branch ownership separately from worktree creation and use that
ownership during cleanup.
- Return HTTP 422 for invalid existing-branch settings on every
issue-producing route.
- Add a bounded repair script for existing pull request preparation
tasks.
- Add focused policy, route, heartbeat, runtime, and ready-comment
tests.
- Document the exact-branch behavior and safety rules.

## Verification

- `pnpm exec vitest run
server/src/__tests__/execution-workspace-policy.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-workspace-session.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/issue-existing-branch-validation-status.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/workspace-runtime.test.ts
server/src/services/workspace-runtime-exposure.test.ts
server/src/services/workspace-runtime-ready-comment.test.ts` passed 335
tests.
- `pnpm -r typecheck` passed for all workspace projects.
- `pnpm test:run` passed 4,431 tests. Two unrelated embedded-Postgres
setup hooks timed out under aggregate load. Their isolated rerun passed
74 tests.
- `pnpm build` passed for all workspace projects.
- The two review regressions passed with 139 unrelated tests skipped.
- All latest-head CI gates passed after one unrelated timing-sensitive
test passed on rerun.
- Greptile scored the latest head 5/5 with no unresolved review threads.

## Risks

- Invalid workspace settings now return HTTP 422 instead of a generic
validation response.
- The exact branch must already exist and must not be checked out by
another worktree.
- The new policy fails closed when it cannot prove branch identity or
ownership.
- This change has no database migration.

## Model Used

OpenAI Codex from the GPT-5 family assisted with this change. The
runtime did not expose its exact deployment ID or context window. The
agent used high-reasoning mode, repository tools, shell execution, and
code execution.

dcac49a4fd feat(workspaces): defer isolated setup until runtime start (#10653)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - Isolated workspaces give each task a safe and reproducible checkout.
> - The existing setup cloned the development database before an agent
needed to run the app.
> - This made worktree creation slower and heavier for tasks that never
start a service.
> - Runtime services already use one server start path for heartbeat,
operator, and startup recovery flows.
> - This pull request moves heavy setup to that start path and keeps
worktree creation lean.
> - The benefit is faster isolated workspace creation with the same
reliable runtime setup when a service starts.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

Related pull request: #10652 covers the initial deferred
database-seeding slice. This pull request supersedes it with end-to-end
runtime provisioning and safe cleanup.

**What existing behavior does this improve?**

This improves isolated worktree creation, runtime service startup, and
isolated instance cleanup.

**Subsystem affected**

Cross-cutting: CLI worktree setup, server runtime orchestration, shared
workspace contracts, and development scripts.

**Current behavior**

Paperclip seeds an isolated development database during worktree
creation. It can also leave an isolated instance directory after
workspace teardown. This work happens even when no runtime service
starts.

**Proposed behavior**

Paperclip creates the worktree with a lean eager setup. It runs an
idempotent runtime provision command before the first managed service
spawn. Concurrent starts share one provision attempt. Teardown removes
the isolated instance safely.

**Reason and benefit**

Many agent tasks only edit and test code. They do not need a running
Paperclip instance. Deferring the database seed reduces workspace
startup cost while preserving automatic setup for tasks that start the
app.

**Breaking changes**

None. The new runtime provision command is optional. Existing workspace
behavior is unchanged when it is absent.

## What Changed

- Split Paperclip worktree setup into a lean eager script and an
idempotent runtime provision script.
- Added `runtimeProvisionCommand` to project, issue, realized workspace,
and persisted workspace contracts.
- Added a per-workspace provision mutex before local service spawn for
heartbeat, operator, and startup recovery flows.
- Added a persisted `provisioning` service state and the
`workspace_runtime_provision` operation phase.
- Kept provision time outside the service readiness timeout and made
failed attempts visible and retryable.
- Reclaimed isolated instance data during safe workspace teardown.
- Serialized deferred database seeding across processes and bound
teardown to the instance root captured in persisted workspace metadata.
- Added tests for config flow, concurrency, retry, no-op behavior,
readiness timing, scripts, CLI commands, and cleanup.
- Documented the eager and runtime provisioning contracts.

## Verification

- `pnpm -r typecheck`
- `pnpm build`
- `pnpm test:run` (server: 3,201 passed; UI: 3,345 passed; the CLI phase
exposed one environment-sensitive AWS doctor assertion because the agent
runtime injects static AWS credentials)
- `env -u AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID -u AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY pnpm exec vitest
run cli/src/__tests__/secrets.test.ts -t 'passes AWS doctor checks when
non-secret provider config is present'`
- Focused runtime tests cover serialized provisioning, retry after
stderr failure, absent-command no-op behavior, operation logging,
persisted state order, and readiness timeout exclusion.
- Focused CLI and cleanup tests cover concurrent seed serialization,
stale-lock fail-closed behavior, persisted instance ownership, and
rewritten sibling pointers.

## Risks

- A faulty runtime provision script blocks service startup. Paperclip
records stderr, marks the service failed, and retries on the next start.
- Concurrent service requests share an in-process provision attempt,
while the seed command uses an atomic filesystem lock across processes.
A stale lock fails closed and requires an operator to verify no seed is
running before removing it.
- Isolated instance cleanup is destructive. The cleanup service
validates ownership and path containment before removal.

## Model Used

- OpenAI Codex, `gpt-5.6-sol`, with agentic reasoning, tool use, and
code execution. The service does not expose the context-window size.

Jannes StubbemannandClaude Opus 4.7 7f2ed0ad90 security(server): close cross-tenant existence oracle (404 instead of 403) (#3967)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies
> - In a multi-tenant deployment, route handlers that take a resource id
(`issue`, `goal`, `project`, `approval`, etc.) look the resource up by
id and then call `assertCompanyAccess` on its `companyId` — 404 if it
doesn't exist, 403 if it exists in another tenant
> - The split status codes are a classic *existence oracle*: any
authenticated user can enumerate ids across tenants by probing for the
403/404 boundary, mapping out which issues, labels, approvals, etc.
exist in other customers' tenants even when they cannot read the
contents
> - The right fix is a single uniform 404 for both "not found" and
"found but cross-tenant", which collapses the oracle but still preserves
write-path checks (active membership, viewer-readonly) for *authorized*
tenants
> - This pull request adds a non-throwing `hasCompanyAccess(req,
companyId)` helper plus a `getAccessibleResource` wrapper that ~130
handlers across 14 route files now use, folding the access check into
the existence check while still running `assertCompanyAccess` for
authorized tenants so viewer-readonly / inactive-membership rejections
fire unchanged on write paths
> - The benefit is closing a multi-tenant information leak without
breaking write-path security or single-tenant local-first behavior

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

Refs #709 — asks for company-scope regression coverage across
approval/activity/access routes, because a subtle route refactor could
leak cross-tenant data; this PR hardens exactly those surfaces (uniform
404 across 14 route files including `approvals`, `activity`, `secrets`)
and updates cross-tenant expectations in test files. It does not add the
full coverage matrix #709 asks for — hence Refs, not Closes.

No existing issue covers the oracle itself — described in-PR:

- Route handlers returned 404 for "not found" but 403 for "exists in
another tenant", a classic *existence oracle*: any authenticated user
could enumerate ids across tenants by probing the 403/404 boundary.
- That maps out which issues, labels, approvals, etc. exist in other
customers' tenants even when their contents are unreadable.
- Fix: a uniform 404 for both cases, while keeping write-path checks
(active membership, viewer-readonly) for authorized tenants.

## What Changed

- **`server/src/routes/authz.ts`** — new `hasCompanyAccess(req,
companyId): boolean` helper alongside the existing
`assertCompanyAccess`. Docstring spells out the two-step pattern (404
gate, then `assertCompanyAccess` for write-path checks). The helper
mirrors `assertCompanyAccess`'s company-scope semantics exactly — in
particular, signed-in instance admins do **not** get blanket access to
companies they are not a member of (the repo's `authz-company-access`
tests pin that behavior for `assertCompanyAccess`; an earlier draft of
the helper accidentally widened it for reads).
- **`getAccessibleResource(req, res, lookup, notFoundMessage)`** — the
safe thing is now the easy thing. One helper wraps the whole pattern
(uniform 404 for missing/cross-tenant, then `assertCompanyAccess` for
write-path membership checks) and ~130 handlers across 14 route files
use it:
  ```ts
const goal = await getAccessibleResource(req, res, svc.getById(id),
"Goal not found");
  if (!goal) return;
  ```
Files: `activity`, `agents`, `approvals`, `assets`, `costs`,
`environments`, `execution-workspaces`, `file-resources`, `goals`,
`issue-tree-control`, `issues`, `projects`, `routines`, `secrets`.
Handlers with bespoke not-found behavior (the legacy `200 []` contract,
audit-logged denials in `file-resources`, null-returning authz helpers)
compose `hasCompanyAccess` directly using the documented two-step
pattern:
  ```ts
// step 1: close the oracle (uniform 404 for both not-found and
cross-tenant)
  if (!existing || !hasCompanyAccess(req, existing.companyId)) {
    res.status(404).json({ error: "Goal not found" });
    return;
  }
// step 2: enforce write-path membership checks for authorised tenants
(no-op on GET)
  assertCompanyAccess(req, existing.companyId);
  ```
Routes where `companyId` comes from *request input*
(`req.params.companyId`, `req.body.companyId`, e.g. in `companies.ts`
and `plugins.ts`) deliberately retain plain `assertCompanyAccess` —
there's no existence oracle to close because the companyId is an input,
not a discovered value.
- **Full-sweep coverage** — a scripted audit of every
`assertCompanyAccess(req, <resource>.companyId)` call site in
`server/src/routes/` found ~55 lookup-then-assert pairs the first pass
missed; all are now gated. Notable ones: the
`/secret-provider-configs/:id` CRUD routes, the agents
instructions-bundle/config-revision/skills-sync routes (which check
access via the `assertCanUpdateAgent` / `assertCanReadAgent` /
`assertCanManageInstructionsPath` helpers), `POST
/heartbeat-runs/:runId/watchdog-decisions`, `GET
/issues/:id/cost-summary`, the environment + environment-lease GET
routes, all six issue-tree-control routes, ~24 issue sub-resource routes
(document annotations, interactions, approvals links, recovery actions,
plan decompositions, lock/unlock), and the three workspace file-resource
routes (these throw `notFound` instead of `forbidden` inside their
audit-logging wrappers, so denied attempts are still activity-logged
server-side while the client sees a uniform 404).
- **Helpers made self-defending** — `assertCanUpdateAgent` /
`assertCanReadAgent` / `assertCanManageInstructionsPath` (agents) and
`assertCanManage{Project,Execution}WorkspaceRuntimeServices` throw
`notFound` for cross-tenant resources before their `assertCompanyAccess`
step, so a future caller that forgets the route-level gate still can't
reopen the oracle.
- **Pattern enforcement** — new `authz-existence-oracle-guard.test.ts`
statically scans `server/src/routes/*.ts` and fails CI on any
`assertCompanyAccess(req, <resource>.companyId)` call that is not
preceded by a `hasCompanyAccess` gate, with an explicit allowlist (plus
staleness check) for the request-input cases. New routes that regress to
the 403/404 split fail the suite with a message pointing at the
documented pattern.
- **Tests** — cross-tenant expectations updated from 403→404 where
routes are now gated; new `hasCompanyAccess` unit tests in
`authz-company-access.test.ts` pin the
instance-admin/local-implicit/agent/none semantics in lockstep with
`assertCompanyAccess`; `write-path-membership.test.ts` (added in an
earlier round) confirms viewer/inactive users are still rejected on
writes.
- **One legacy-contract preserve** — `GET /heartbeat-runs/:runId/issues`
still returns `200 []` for both "doesn't exist" and "cross-tenant" so
the legacy contract is preserved while the oracle stays closed.

## Verification

- `pnpm run typecheck` — PASS.
- `pnpm -F @paperclipai/server exec vitest run` — full server suite
green locally apart from 4 pre-existing local-environment failures
(`paperclip-skill-utils` ×2 and `workspace-runtime` ×1 are
cwd/git-environment dependent — verified identical on a clean checkout
of the base; `heartbeat-process-recovery` is the known macOS flake).
- The new `authz-existence-oracle-guard` test sweeps
`server/src/routes/*.ts` and confirms no remaining
`assertCompanyAccess(resource.companyId)` site without a
`hasCompanyAccess` gate; the only allowlisted holdouts take `companyId`
from request input.

## Risks

- **API contract narrowing.** Any client that specifically checked for
`403` on cross-tenant access now sees `404`. This is a strict narrowing
(one status instead of two for the same negative outcome) and matches
what a client should expect for any id it can't access.
- **Write-path checks preserved.** `assertCompanyAccess` still runs
after the 404 gate on write routes, so viewer-readonly /
inactive-membership rejections fire unchanged for legitimate users.
- **Instance-admin scope unchanged.** `hasCompanyAccess` denies
signed-in instance admins without an explicit membership, exactly like
`assertCompanyAccess` (pinned by unit tests) — so the gate introduces no
new read access for admins.
- **Single-tenant local-first deploys** behave identically — the helper
short-circuits to `true` for `local_implicit` sessions.
- No new env vars, no deployment-mode switch.

DottaandPaperclip 2dbaf4a7fa External object references across issue surfaces (#8512)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source control plane people use to coordinate
AI agents, issues, approvals, comments, and work products.
> - The involved subsystem is issue context: markdown links, issue
properties, related work, lists, filters, inbox/sidebar status, and
plugin-provided external context.
> - The gap is that URLs to external systems currently remain mostly
plain links, so humans and agents must manually open them to understand
status, identity, and liveness.
> - This matters because external work objects such as GitHub issues and
pull requests are part of the operational state of a Paperclip company.
> - The implementation keeps core provider-neutral: shared contracts,
storage, sync, routes, and UI surfaces live in core while providers can
contribute detection and status resolution.
> - This pull request adds the external object reference foundation,
GitHub provider support, issue-surface rendering, filters,
sidebar/list/inbox signals, and test/story coverage.
> - The benefit is that linked external work becomes inspectable
Paperclip context without hardcoding every provider directly into the
UI.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

No public GitHub issue exists for this work.

Feature request:

- Problem: URLs in Paperclip issues, comments, documents, and related
surfaces do not expose provider status or object identity inline.
- Proposed behavior: detect supported external object URLs, persist
normalized references, refresh provider status, and render concise
status-aware links across issue surfaces.
- Users affected: board users, agents, and maintainers who triage issues
containing external work links.
- Acceptance: external object references are company-scoped,
provider-extensible, visible in key issue surfaces, filterable where
relevant, and covered by focused shared/server/UI tests.

Related PR search:

- No open duplicate PRs found for `external object references`.
- Closed related prior attempt: #4556.

## What Changed

- Added shared external-object contracts, validators, status/liveness
helpers, and plugin protocol declarations.
- Added database schema and additive migrations for external objects,
source mentions, and display metadata.
- Added server services/routes for detecting, syncing, summarizing,
refreshing, and resolving external objects across issues, documents,
comments, projects, and plugins.
- Added a GitHub external-object provider plus plugin SDK authoring
docs.
- Wired UI presentation across markdown links, comments, issue chat,
documents, properties, related work, issue rows, filters, inbox/sidebar
badges, and Storybook stories.
- Rebasing cleanup: moved the branch onto current `master`, repaired
stale worktree provision config, hardened environment-sensitive
tests/mocks, and removed committed screenshot artifacts from the PR
branch to keep the reviewable file set below tool limits.

## Verification

- `pnpm exec vitest run packages/shared/src/external-objects.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/external-object-routes.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/external-objects-service.test.ts
ui/src/components/ExternalObjectPill.test.tsx
ui/src/lib/external-objects.test.ts` passed after rebasing: 5 files, 56
tests.
- Historical branch verification before this PR creation included `pnpm
test:run`, `pnpm -r typecheck`, and `pnpm build`; this PR body does not
claim those were rerun after the final rebase.

## Risks

- Medium: this adds a new cross-surface sync path on
issue/document/comment writes. The implementation uses safe sync
wrappers so external-object failures warn instead of blocking core
mutations.
- Medium: the migrations introduce new tables and indexes. They are
additive and company-scoped.
- Medium: provider-specific URL parsing can miss or misclassify edge
cases. Shared canonicalization tests and provider tests cover current
GitHub shapes.
- Low: UI badge/filter behavior could add visual noise for object-heavy
issues; component tests and Storybook stories cover the intended
surfaces.

> Roadmap checked: `ROADMAP.md` references the plugin system as the
current extension path and does not list a duplicate core feature.
Related long-range docs discuss external references, work products,
preview URLs, and plugin extension points; this PR implements the scoped
external-object reference foundation.

DottaandPaperclip dbebf30c89 Add low-trust review containment (#7530)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is a control plane for AI-agent companies, so execution
policy and trust boundaries are part of the product's safety contract.
> - Low-trust review work needs narrower authority than normal
same-company agents because hostile PRs, comments, attachments, and
generated output can carry prompt-injection payloads.
> - The current V1 shape gives trusted workers broad company context,
which is useful for normal execution but too permissive for a reviewer
assigned to hostile content.
> - This branch adds a `low_trust_review` preset, source-trust tagging,
route-level containment, and quarantine handling so low-trust output
does not automatically flow into higher-trust wake context.
> - The branch has been rebased onto current `origin/master`, and the
low-trust migration was renumbered to `0097_low_trust_source_trust.sql`
to avoid collisions with existing `0091` through `0096` migrations.
> - Greptile feedback was addressed by tightening low-trust detection,
preserving project-level trust policy checks, fixing issue-kind
promotion lookup, removing duplicate post-lease isolation assertion,
documenting fail-closed source-trust behavior, bounding ancestry checks,
enforcing runtime issue context for CEOs, awaiting accepted-plan monitor
authorization, and making low-trust issue source-trust tagging atomic.
> - The benefit is a first production slice of deny-by-default review
containment with regression coverage for the main control-plane pivot
surfaces.

Fixes #7531.

## What Changed

- Added shared trust-policy types and validators, plus
database/source-trust fields for issues, comments, documents, and work
products.
- Implemented server enforcement for low-trust issue scope, agent
self-view redaction, secret/plugin/runtime denial paths, promotion
checks, and quarantined continuation/wake context.
- Added focused low-trust regression tests for resolver behavior, source
trust, route authorization, heartbeat preflight ordering, runtime
containment, and quarantine redaction.
- Added board UI affordances for selecting/reviewing the low-trust
preset and surfacing source-trust badges in relevant issue views.
- Added `doc/LOW-TRUST-PRESETS.md`, updated
`doc/SPEC-implementation.md`, and committed the low-trust review
contract plan under `doc/plans/`.
- Rebasing note: the original `0097_low_trust_source_trust.sql`
migration was renamed to `0097_low_trust_source_trust.sql`; the SQL uses
`ADD COLUMN IF NOT EXISTS` so users who already applied the old-numbered
migration are not broken by the renumbered migration.

## Verification

- Rebased branch onto current `origin/master` and force-pushed with
lease to `origin/PAP-10211-low-trust-agent` at head `2719f31e3`.
- Confirmed the PR diff does not include `pnpm-lock.yaml` or
`.github/workflows` changes.
- Resolved upstream UI/comment conflicts by preserving deleted-comment
tombstone behavior and low-trust source-trust badges/metadata.
- Renumbered the low-trust source-trust migration to
`0097_low_trust_source_trust.sql`; the SQL uses `ADD COLUMN IF NOT
EXISTS` so users who already applied an old-numbered copy are not
broken.
- `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/lib/issue-chat-messages.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-workspace-session.test.ts`
- `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/source-trust.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/workspace-runtime-service-authz.test.ts
ui/src/lib/trust-policy-ui.test.ts
ui/src/components/TrustPresetSection.test.tsx`
- `pnpm run typecheck:build-gaps`
- `git diff --check`
- GitHub checks pass on head `2719f31e3`: build, typecheck/release
registry, general tests, serialized server suites, e2e, canary, verify,
policy/review, Socket, and Snyk.
- Greptile Review passes with Confidence Score 5/5 and zero unresolved
Greptile review threads.
- No design screenshots/images were added because the task explicitly
says not to add them unless they are specifically part of the work.

## Risks

- Medium risk: this touches shared trust-policy contracts, server
authorization paths, heartbeat context generation, migration metadata,
and UI preset controls.
- Low-trust containment is intentionally deny-by-default; legitimate
future review workflows may need explicit allowlisted exceptions.
- Plugin/runtime/security surfaces are broad, so regression tests cover
the current known routes but future integrations must route through the
same containment layer.
- The PR is ready for review; GitHub checks are green and Greptile is
5/5.

778e775c35 Add secrets provider vaults and remote import (#5429)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip orchestrates AI-agent companies and needs secrets handling
to work across local development, hosted operators, and governed agent
execution.
> - The affected subsystem is the company-scoped secrets control plane:
database schema, server services/routes, CLI workflows, and the Secrets
settings UI.
> - The gap was that secrets were local-only and operators could not
manage provider vaults or import existing remote references without
exposing plaintext.
> - This branch adds provider vault configuration plus an AWS Secrets
Manager remote-import path while preserving company boundaries, binding
context, and audit trails.
> - I kept the PR to a single branch PR, removed unrelated
lockfile/package drift, rebased the full branch onto the current
`public-gh/master`, and addressed fresh Greptile findings.
> - The benefit is a reviewable implementation of provider-backed
secrets with focused tests covering provider selection, import
conflicts, deleted secret reuse, rotation guards, and AWS signing
behavior.

## What Changed

- Added provider vault support for company secrets, including provider
config storage, default vault handling, health checks, binding usage,
access events, and remote import preview/commit.
- Added an AWS Secrets Manager provider using SigV4 request signing,
bounded request timeouts, namespace guardrails, cached runtime
credential resolution, and external-reference linking without plaintext
reads.
- Added Secrets UI surfaces for vault management and remote import, plus
CLI/API documentation for setup and operations.
- Stabilized routine webhook secret binding paths and SSH
environment-driver fixture bindings discovered during verification.
- Addressed Greptile and CI findings: no lockfile/package drift,
monotonic migration metadata, disabled-vault default races, soft-deleted
secret hiding/recreate behavior, remove behavior with disabled vaults,
soft-deleted external-reference re-import, non-active rotation guards,
managed-secret soft deletion through PATCH, and per-call AWS SDK
credential client churn.
- Rebased this branch onto `public-gh/master` at `0e1a5828` and
force-pushed with lease to keep this as the single PR for the branch.

## Verification

- `git fetch public-gh master`
- `git rebase public-gh/master`
- `git diff --name-only public-gh/master...HEAD | grep
'^pnpm-lock\.yaml$' || true` confirmed `pnpm-lock.yaml` is not in the PR
diff.
- Confirmed migration ordering: master ends at `0081_optimal_dormammu`;
this PR adds `0082_dry_vision` and
`0083_company_secret_provider_configs`.
- Inspected migrations for repeat safety: new tables/indexes use `IF NOT
EXISTS`; foreign keys are guarded by `DO $$ ... IF NOT EXISTS`; column
additions use `ADD COLUMN IF NOT EXISTS`.
- `pnpm -r typecheck` passed before the Greptile follow-up commits.
- `pnpm test:run` ran the full stable Vitest path before the Greptile
follow-up commits; it completed with 3 timing-related failures under
parallel load: `codex-local-execute.test.ts`,
`cursor-local-execute.test.ts`, and `environment-service.test.ts`.
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run
src/__tests__/codex-local-execute.test.ts
src/__tests__/cursor-local-execute.test.ts
src/__tests__/environment-service.test.ts` passed on targeted rerun
(`24/24`).
- `pnpm build` passed before the Greptile follow-up commits. Vite
reported existing chunk-size/dynamic-import warnings.
- After Greptile follow-up commits: `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server
exec vitest run src/__tests__/secrets-service.test.ts` passed (`26/26`).
- After Greptile follow-up commits: `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server
exec vitest run src/__tests__/aws-secrets-manager-provider.test.ts
src/__tests__/secrets-service.test.ts` passed (`39/39`).
- After Greptile follow-up commits: `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server
typecheck` passed.
- Captured Storybook screenshots from `ui/storybook-static` for visual
review.
- Latest PR checks on `5ca3a5cf`: `policy`, serialized server suites
1/4-4/4, `Canary Dry Run`, `e2e`, `security/snyk`, and `Greptile Review`
pass; aggregate `verify` is still registering the completed child
checks.
- Greptile review loop continued through the latest requested pass; all
Greptile review threads are resolved and the latest `Greptile Review`
check on `5ca3a5cf` passed with 0 comments added.

## Screenshots

Before: the provider-vault and remote-import surfaces did not exist on
`master`; these are after-state screenshots from the Storybook fixtures.

secrets](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/paperclipai/paperclip/PAP-2339-secrets-make-a-plan/doc/pr/5429/env-editor-with-secrets.png)

## Risks

- Migration risk: this adds new secret provider tables and extends
existing secret rows. The migrations were checked for monotonic ordering
and idempotent guards, but reviewers should still inspect upgrade
behavior carefully.
- Provider risk: AWS support uses direct SigV4 requests. Automated tests
cover signing, request timeouts, vault-config selection, namespace
guardrails, pending-version archival, sanitized provider errors, and
service-level cleanup paths. A real-vault AWS smoke test remains
deployment validation for an operator with AWS credentials rather than
an unverified merge blocker in this local branch.
- UI risk: the Secrets page and import dialog are large new surfaces;
screenshots are included above for reviewer inspection.
- Verification risk: the full local stable test command hit
parallel-load timing failures, although the exact failed files passed
when rerun directly.
- Operational risk: remote import intentionally avoids plaintext reads;
operators must understand that imported external references resolve at
runtime and may fail if AWS permissions change.

DottaandPaperclip 1991ec9d6f [codex] Split backend control-plane QoL slice (#4700)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the control plane for autonomous AI companies, so
backend task ownership, recovery, review visibility, and company-scoped
limits need to stay enforceable without UI-only coupling.
> - Closed PR #4692 bundled those backend changes with UI workflow,
docs, skills, workflow, and lockfile churn.
> - PAP-2694 asks for a clean backend/control-plane slice from that
closed branch.
> - This branch starts from current `master` and mines only the `cli`,
`packages/db`, `packages/shared`, and `server` contracts/tests needed
for the backend behavior.
> - It explicitly excludes UI workflow/performance work,
`.github/workflows/pr.yml`, `pnpm-lock.yaml`, docs, skills,
package-script, adapter UI build-config, and perf fixture script
changes; the only UI files are fixture/test updates required by the
tightened shared `Company` contract.
> - The benefit is a smaller reviewable PR that preserves the
control-plane fixes while staying under Greptile s 100-file review
limit.

## What Changed

- Added company-scoped attachment-size limits through DB
schema/migrations, shared company portability contracts, CLI
import/export coverage, and server attachment upload enforcement.
- Added productivity review service/API behavior for no-comment streak,
long-active, and high-churn review issues, including request-depth
clamping and issue summary exposure.
- Hardened issue ownership and recovery/control-plane paths: peer-agent
mutation denial, issue tree pause/resume behavior, stranded recovery
origins, and related activity/test coverage.
- Preserved related backend contract updates for routine timestamp
variables and managed agent instruction bundles because they live in
shared/server contracts from the source branch.
- Addressed Greptile feedback by making `Company.attachmentMaxBytes`
non-optional, simplifying review request-depth clamping, fixing the
migration final newline, and enforcing the process-level attachment cap
as the final ceiling for uploads.
- Added minimal company fixtures needed for repo-wide typecheck/build
and kept the PR to 66 changed files with forbidden/non-slice paths
excluded.

## Verification

- `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile`
- `git diff --check origin/master..HEAD`
- `git diff --name-only origin/master..HEAD | wc -l` -> 66 files
- `git diff --name-only origin/master..HEAD -- .github/workflows/pr.yml
pnpm-lock.yaml package.json doc skills .agents scripts
packages/adapters` -> no output
- `pnpm exec vitest run --config vitest.config.ts

server/src/__tests__/issue-attachment-routes.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-process-recovery.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/issues-service.test.ts` -> 12 files, 147 tests
passed
- `pnpm exec vitest run --config vitest.config.ts
cli/src/__tests__/company-delete.test.ts
cli/src/__tests__/company-import-export-e2e.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/productivity-review-service.test.ts` -> 3 files, 18
tests passed
- `pnpm exec vitest run --config vitest.config.ts
server/src/__tests__/issue-attachment-routes.test.ts` -> 1 file, 6 tests
passed
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/db typecheck && pnpm --filter
@paperclipai/shared typecheck && pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server
typecheck && pnpm --filter paperclipai typecheck`
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck`
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck && pnpm --filter
@paperclipai/ui build`

## Risks

- Includes migrations `0073_shiny_salo.sql` and
`0074_striped_genesis.sql`; merge ordering matters if another PR adds
migrations first.
- This is intentionally backend-only apart from fixture/test updates
forced by shared type correctness; UI affordances from PR #4692 are not
present here and should land in separate UI slices.
- The worktree install emitted plugin SDK bin-link warnings for unbuilt
plugin packages, but the targeted tests and package typechecks completed
successfully.

Devin Foley 70679a3321 Add sandbox environment support (#4415)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies.
> - The environment/runtime layer decides where agent work executes and
how the control plane reaches those runtimes.
> - Today Paperclip can run locally and over SSH, but sandboxed
execution needs a first-class environment model instead of one-off
adapter behavior.
> - We also want sandbox providers to be pluggable so the core does not
hardcode every provider implementation.
> - This branch adds the Sandbox environment path, the provider
contract, and a deterministic fake provider plugin.
> - That required synchronized changes across shared contracts, plugin
SDK surfaces, server runtime orchestration, and the UI
environment/workspace flows.
> - The result is that sandbox execution becomes a core control-plane
capability while keeping provider implementations extensible and
testable.

## What Changed

- Added sandbox runtime support to the environment execution path,
including runtime URL discovery, sandbox execution targeting,
orchestration, and heartbeat integration.
- Added plugin-provider support for sandbox environments so providers
can be supplied via plugins instead of hardcoded server logic.
- Added the fake sandbox provider plugin with deterministic behavior
suitable for local and automated testing.
- Updated shared types, validators, plugin protocol definitions, and SDK
helpers to carry sandbox provider and workspace-runtime contracts across
package boundaries.
- Updated server routes and services so companies can create sandbox
environments, select them for work, and execute work through the sandbox
runtime path.
- Updated the UI environment and workspace surfaces to expose sandbox
environment configuration and selection.
- Added test coverage for sandbox runtime behavior, provider seams,
environment route guards, orchestration, and the fake provider plugin.

## Verification

- Ran locally before the final fixture-only scrub:
  - `pnpm -r typecheck`
  - `pnpm test:run`
  - `pnpm build`
- Ran locally after the final scrub amend:
  - `pnpm vitest run server/src/__tests__/runtime-api.test.ts`
- Reviewer spot checks:
  - create a sandbox environment backed by the fake provider plugin
  - run work through that environment
- confirm sandbox provider execution does not inherit host secrets
implicitly

## Risks

- This touches shared contracts, plugin SDK plumbing, server runtime
orchestration, and UI environment/workspace flows, so regressions would
likely show up as cross-layer mismatches rather than isolated type
errors.
- Runtime URL discovery and sandbox callback selection are sensitive to
host/bind configuration; if that logic is wrong, sandbox-backed
callbacks may fail even when execution succeeds.
- The fake provider plugin is intentionally deterministic and
test-oriented; future providers may expose capability gaps that this
branch does not yet cover.

## Model Used

- OpenAI Codex coding agent on a GPT-5-class backend in the
Paperclip/Codex harness. Exact backend model ID is not exposed
in-session. Tool-assisted workflow with shell execution, file editing,
git history inspection, and local test execution.

> - The environments subsystem already models execution environments,
but before this branch there was no end-to-end SSH-backed runtime path
for agents to actually run work against a remote box
> - That meant agents could be configured around environment concepts
without a reliable way to execute adapter sessions remotely, sync
workspace state, and preserve run context across supported adapters
> - We also need environment selection to participate in normal
Paperclip control-plane behavior: agent defaults, project/issue
selection, route validation, and environment probing
> - Because this capability is still experimental, the UI surface should
be easy to hide and easy to remove later without undoing the underlying
implementation
> - This pull request adds SSH environment execution support across the
runtime, adapters, routes, schema, and tests, then puts the visible
environment-management UI behind an experimental flag
> - The benefit is that we can validate real SSH-backed agent execution
now while keeping the user-facing controls safely gated until the
feature is ready to come out of experimentation

## What Changed

- Added SSH-backed execution target support in the shared adapter
runtime, including remote workspace preparation, skill/runtime asset
sync, remote session handling, and workspace restore behavior after
runs.
- Added SSH execution coverage for supported local adapters, plus remote
execution tests across Claude, Codex, Cursor, Gemini, OpenCode, and Pi.
- Added environment selection and environment-management backend support
needed for SSH execution, including route/service work, validation,
probing, and agent default environment persistence.
- Added CLI support for SSH environment lab verification and updated
related docs/tests.
- Added the `enableEnvironments` experimental flag and gated the
environment UI behind it on company settings, agent configuration, and
project configuration surfaces.

## Verification

- `pnpm exec vitest run
packages/adapters/claude-local/src/server/execute.remote.test.ts
packages/adapters/cursor-local/src/server/execute.remote.test.ts
packages/adapters/gemini-local/src/server/execute.remote.test.ts
packages/adapters/opencode-local/src/server/execute.remote.test.ts
packages/adapters/pi-local/src/server/execute.remote.test.ts`
- `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/environment-routes.test.ts`
- `pnpm exec vitest run
server/src/__tests__/instance-settings-routes.test.ts`
- `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/lib/new-agent-hire-payload.test.ts
ui/src/lib/new-agent-runtime-config.test.ts`
- `pnpm -r typecheck`
- `pnpm build`
- Manual verification on a branch-local dev server:
  - enabled the experimental flag
  - created an SSH environment
  - created a Linux Claude agent using that environment
- confirmed a run executed on the Linux box and synced workspace changes
back

## Risks

- Medium: this touches runtime execution flow across multiple adapters,
so regressions would likely show up in remote session setup, workspace
sync, or environment selection precedence.
- The UI flag reduces exposure, but the underlying runtime and route
changes are still substantial and rely on migration correctness.
- The change set is broad across adapters, control-plane services,
migrations, and UI gating, so review should pay close attention to
environment-selection precedence and remote workspace lifecycle
behavior.

## Model Used

- OpenAI Codex via Paperclip's local Codex adapter, GPT-5-class coding
model with tool use and code execution in the local repo workspace. The
local adapter does not surface a more specific public model version
string in this branch workflow.

DottaandPaperclip 549ef11c14 [codex] Respect manual workspace runtime controls (#4125)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents inside execution and project
workspaces
> - Workspace runtime services can be controlled manually by operators
and reused by agent runs
> - Manual start/stop state was not preserved consistently across
workspace policies and routine launches
> - Routine launches also needed branch/workspace variables to default
from the selected workspace context
> - This pull request makes runtime policy state explicit, preserves
manual control, and auto-fills routine branch variables from workspace
data
> - The benefit is less surprising workspace service behavior and fewer
manual inputs when running workspace-scoped routines

## What Changed

- Added runtime-state handling for manual workspace control across
execution and project workspace validators, routes, and services.
- Updated heartbeat/runtime startup behavior so manually stopped
services are respected.
- Auto-filled routine workspace branch variables from available
workspace context.
- Added focused server and UI tests for workspace runtime and routine
variable behavior.
- Removed muted gray background styling from workspace pages and cards
for a cleaner workspace UI.

## Verification

- `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile --ignore-scripts`
- `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/routines-service.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/workspace-runtime.test.ts
ui/src/components/RoutineRunVariablesDialog.test.tsx`
- Result: 55 tests passed, 21 skipped. The embedded Postgres routines
tests skipped on this host with the existing PGlite/Postgres init
warning; workspace-runtime and UI tests passed.

## Risks

- Medium risk: this touches runtime service start/stop policy and
heartbeat launch behavior.
- The focused tests cover manual runtime state, routine variables, and
workspace runtime reuse paths.

DottaandPaperclip 16b2b84d84 [codex] Improve agent runtime recovery and governance (#4086)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies.
> - The heartbeat runtime, agent import path, and agent configuration
defaults determine whether work is dispatched safely and predictably.
> - Several accumulated fixes all touched agent execution recovery, wake
routing, import behavior, and runtime concurrency defaults.
> - Those changes need to land together so the heartbeat service and
agent creation defaults stay internally consistent.
> - This pull request groups the runtime/governance changes from the
split branch into one standalone branch.
> - The benefit is safer recovery for stranded runs, bounded high-volume
reads, imported-agent approval correctness, skill-template support, and
a clearer default concurrency policy.

## What Changed

- Fixed stranded continuation recovery so successful automatic retries
are requeued instead of incorrectly blocking the issue.
- Bounded high-volume issue/log reads across issue, heartbeat, agent,
project, and workspace paths.
- Fixed imported-agent approval and instruction-path permission
handling.
- Quarantined seeded worktree execution state during worktree
provisioning.
- Queued approval follow-up wakes and hardened SQL_ASCII heartbeat
output handling.
- Added reusable agent instruction templates for hiring flows.
- Set the default max concurrent agent runs to five and updated related
UI/tests/docs.

## Verification

- `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile`
- `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/company-portability.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-process-recovery.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-comment-wake-batching.test.ts

server/src/__tests__/agent-permissions-routes.test.ts
packages/adapter-utils/src/server-utils.test.ts

- Split integration check: merged this branch first, followed by the
other [PAP-1614](/PAP/issues/PAP-1614) branches, with no merge
conflicts.
- Confirmed this branch does not include `pnpm-lock.yaml`.

## Risks

- Medium risk: touches heartbeat recovery, queueing, and issue list
bounds in central runtime paths.
- Imported-agent and concurrency default behavior changes may affect
existing automation that assumes one-at-a-time default runs.
- No database migrations are included.

## Model Used

- OpenAI Codex, GPT-5.4 tool-enabled coding model, agentic
code-editing/runtime with local shell and GitHub CLI access; exact
context window and reasoning mode are not exposed by the Paperclip
harness.

DottaandPaperclip 32a9165ddf [codex] harden authenticated routes and issue editor reliability (#3741)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies
> - The control plane depends on authenticated routes enforcing company
boundaries and role permissions correctly
> - This branch also touches the issue detail and markdown editing flows
operators use while handling advisory and triage work
> - Partial issue cache seeds and fragile rich-editor parsing could
leave important issue content missing or blank at the moment an operator
needed it
> - Blocked issues becoming actionable again should wake their assignee
automatically instead of silently staying idle
> - This pull request rebases the advisory follow-up branch onto current
`master`, hardens authenticated route authorization, and carries the
issue-detail/editor reliability fixes forward with regression tests
> - The benefit is tighter authz on sensitive routes plus more reliable
issue/advisory editing and wakeup behavior on top of the latest base

## What Changed

- Hardened authenticated route authorization across agent, activity,
approval, access, project, plugin, health, execution-workspace,
portability, and related server paths, with new cross-tenant and
runtime-authz regression coverage.
- Switched issue detail queries from `initialData` to placeholder-based
hydration so list/quicklook seeds still refetch full issue bodies.
- Normalized advisory-style HTML images before mounting the markdown
editor and strengthened fallback behavior when the rich editor silently
fails or rejects the content.
- Woke assigned agents when blocked issues move back to `todo`, with
route coverage for reopen and unblock transitions.
- Rebasing note: this branch now sits cleanly on top of the latest
`master` tip used for the PR base.

## Verification

- `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/lib/issueDetailQuery.test.tsx
ui/src/components/MarkdownEditor.test.tsx
server/src/__tests__/issue-comment-reopen-routes.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/activity-routes.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/agent-cross-tenant-authz-routes.test.ts`
- Confirmed `pnpm-lock.yaml` is not part of the PR diff.
- Rebased the branch onto current `public-gh/master` before publishing.

## Risks

- Broad authz tightening may expose existing flows that were relying on
permissive board or agent access and now need explicit grants.
- Markdown editor fallback changes could affect focus or rendering in
edge-case content that mixes HTML-like advisory markup with normal
markdown.
- This verification was intentionally scoped to touched regressions and
did not run the full repository suite.

## Model Used

- OpenAI Codex, GPT-5-based coding agent in the Codex CLI environment
with tool use for terminal, git, and GitHub operations. The exact
runtime model identifier is not exposed inside this session.

DottaandPaperclip e89076148a [codex] Improve workspace runtime and navigation ergonomics (#3680)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies
> - That operator experience depends not just on issue chat, but also on
how workspaces, inbox groups, and navigation state behave over
long-running sessions
> - The current branch included a separate cluster of workspace-runtime
controls, inbox grouping, sidebar ordering, and worktree lifecycle fixes
> - Those changes cross server, shared contracts, database state, and UI
navigation, but they still form one coherent operator workflow area
> - This pull request isolates the workspace/runtime and navigation
ergonomics work into one standalone branch
> - The benefit is better workspace recovery and navigation persistence
without forcing reviewers through the unrelated issue-detail/chat work

## What Changed

- Improved execution workspace and project workspace controls, request
wiring, layout, and JSON editor ergonomics
- Hardened linked worktree reuse/startup behavior and documented the
`worktree repair` flow for recovering linked worktrees safely
- Added inbox workspace grouping, mobile collapse, archive undo,
keyboard navigation, shared group-header styling, and persisted
collapsed-group behavior
- Added persistent sidebar order preferences with the supporting DB
migration, shared/server contracts, routes, services, hooks, and UI
integration
- Scoped issue-list preferences by context and added targeted UI/server
tests for workspace controls, inbox behavior, sidebar preferences, and
worktree validation

## Verification

- `pnpm vitest run
server/src/__tests__/sidebar-preferences-routes.test.ts
ui/src/pages/Inbox.test.tsx
ui/src/components/ProjectWorkspaceSummaryCard.test.tsx
ui/src/components/WorkspaceRuntimeControls.test.tsx
ui/src/api/workspace-runtime-control.test.ts`
- `server/src/__tests__/workspace-runtime.test.ts` was attempted, but
the embedded Postgres suite self-skipped/hung on this host after
reporting an init-script issue, so it is not counted as a local pass
here

## Risks

- Medium: this branch includes migration-backed preference storage plus
worktree/runtime behavior, so merge review should pay attention to state
persistence and worktree recovery semantics
- The sidebar preference migration is standalone, but it should still be
watched for conflicts if another migration lands first

## Model Used

- OpenAI Codex coding agent (GPT-5-class runtime in Codex CLI; exact
deployed model ID is not exposed in this environment), reasoning
enabled, tool use and local code execution enabled

bba36ab4c0 fix: convert archivedAt string to Date before Drizzle update
The zod schema validates archivedAt as a datetime string, but Drizzle's
timestamp column expects a Date object. The string was passed directly to
db.update(), causing a 500 error. Now we convert the string to a Date
in the route handler before calling the service.
