feat: add opt-in Coordinator workspace for chat, tasks, and decisions (#17983)
<!-- entire-trail-link-start --> https://entire.com/gh/paperclipai/-/trails/147/changes/paperclip/147 <!-- entire-trail-link-end --> ## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - People coordinate work through conversations, tasks, and requests for input. > - These surfaces must share task state and preserve the context of each decision. > - The existing workspace makes people switch surfaces to follow that context. > - This pull request adds an optional Coordinator workspace with linked conversations, tasks, documents, and decisions. > - Each person can enable it in Settings > Experimental and return to the classic workspace. > - The benefit is a coherent path from a request to an assigned task and reviewed work. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **Subsystem affected** UI, server, shared contracts, and database. **Problem or motivation** People need a consistent way to start tasks from agent conversations, answer questions, review work, and return to the source context. Decisions and task state must agree across these surfaces. **Proposed solution** Add a personal, default-off workspace experiment. Keep one conversation per agent. Add task proposals, compact task and decision cards, contextual document panels, and a Needs You queue with search, filters, sorting, grouping, and history. **Alternatives considered** Replacing the classic workspace for everyone would remove the opt-out path. Keeping separate decision state in each surface would create conflicting answers. This change uses the existing canonical task and interaction records instead. **Roadmap alignment** This supports the existing agent chat, task management, and human review capabilities. It is an experimental presentation choice. The user requested this isolated implementation after design review. No Discord discussion is claimed. ## What Changed - Add per-person workspace preferences, a default-off setting, and an additive migration. - Add Coordinator navigation, pinned destinations, task lists, agent switching, and contextual panels. - Link task suggestions and creation to the source conversation. Default new task ownership to the current agent unless the user specifies another owner. - Share pending questions, decision receipts, exact review targets, and history across tasks, chat, and Needs You. - Preserve task access, assignment authorization, revision binding, and required output review gates. - Add compact document links, relative timestamps, composer controls, and reduced-motion support for task and decision transitions. - Add component stories, regression coverage, and capability-map documentation. ## Verification - Final head: `4b839aae1e314bd7e8635a766f1d205ff1c03ba6`, based on master `8bc051245f77a47bee0f8ba45896b8bfa5922e0a`. Verified October 29, 2026 at 00:10 UTC: **MERGEABLE, 56 checks passed, four conditional skips, no pending or failed checks**. [Current CI run](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/40790639688) passed without a rerun on this head. - Fresh Greptile **5/5**, zero new comments and zero open review threads; Superagent passed with no suspicious changes. [Checks](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/17983/checks). - Local workspace typecheck/build passed after the latest rebase. The final account-read patch passed UI typecheck/build and all 12 related preference/settings tests, including a delayed real-client request across account changes. Earlier scoped checks cover review deduplication/replay, decision deep links, cross-surface state, access boundaries, and migration replay. - Local database/browser rechecks after the latest rebase were limited by exhausted macOS shared-memory IDs: `initdb` failed before database creation. The local run passed 31 UI/snapshot tests and skipped 24 database tests; those skips and the blocked local browser start are not claimed as passes. The independent Linux CI database and browser checks passed. No running dev database or host setting was changed. - Upstream migration 0403 is preserved. Preferences and durable review retry aliases are generated as replay-safe migrations `0404_tense_silver_sable.sql` and `0405_harsh_avengers.sql`; five newest snapshots are retained. Every detected conflict was rebased and pushed before waiting for CI/review, as requested. - The PR is unmerged. The active master ruleset still requires code-owner approval for the changed Paperclip skill; no approval or rule change was performed. <details> <summary>Earlier verification failures, integration history, and evidence</summary> These entries preserve prior checkpoints and failures; the current acceptance result is above. - Focused UI and server checks from the isolated build are recorded in the implementation plan. - Browser checks covered the opt-in shell, navigation, task/document links, and decision card states. No new live provider trial is claimed for this handoff. - Current acceptance head: `4b839aae1e314bd7e8635a766f1d205ff1c03ba6`, rebased onto master `8bc051245` immediately after its GitHub review-repair migration took 0403. Preferences are generated as idempotent `0404_tense_silver_sable.sql`, preserving upstream SQL/journal/snapshot history and five newest snapshots. GitHub reports MERGEABLE after the immediate lease-protected push. Scott's updated instruction is to rebase and push every conflict resolution first, without waiting for CI or Greptile; verification follows the push. - The final reviewed feature tree was consolidated for repeatable single-commit rebases. The complete previous commit history remains reachable through local recovery ref `codex/coordinator-recovery-before-rebase-20261028` (resolved snapshot `0e1bbdf4e`). The actual rebase completed, and its tree hash exactly matches that resolved snapshot. The force-with-lease required the known remote head `0e6ef7c44`, protecting against concurrent branch changes. No PR merge or permission/runner setting change occurred. Fresh CI/review are in progress for the current head. - `2001132fa` received Greptile 5/5 with one nonblocking account-switch read finding. Current head detaches path-coalesced preference GETs and disables HTTP caching, retaining React Query's account-scoped sharing. A delayed real-client GET regression proves account B can load its saved choice before account A responds, and A's late response only updates A's cache. Preference/settings tests 12/12 and UI typecheck passed; its review thread is resolved. Fresh current-head CI/reviews are pending. The prior CI chat shard 3 ended with “The operation was canceled” and no assertion failure ([job 123171595631](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/40789688333/job/123171595631), `/tmp/pr17983-2001132-chat3.log`); no code/timeout change is attributed to that cancellation. - `843e823b4` reached fresh Greptile 5/5 with zero comments/open threads and Superagent pass. All browser tests including the repaired YAML shard passed, and 54 checks passed. General server shard 9 ended with “The operation was canceled” and no failed assertion; its test step was marked cancelled (job [123164350893](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/40787501761/job/123164350893), log `/tmp/pr17983-843e-server9.log`). A single unchanged-head rerun was started after the workflow completed, but master moved while it ran. A local nested-clone check timed out in its 30-second database-startup hook and then failed cleanup before the 20 database cases ran; this is retained as a local verification limit (`/tmp/pr17983-843e-nested-clone-check.log`), not claimed as a pass or proof of the CI cancellation cause. - Following Scott's instruction, the new conflict was rebased and pushed immediately without waiting for that rerun. Upstream's `0403_natural_cerise.sql` is preserved; regenerated preferences and retry-alias migrations are `0404_tense_silver_sable.sql` and `0405_harsh_avengers.sql`, replay-safe with five newest snapshots retained. The YAML helper conflict combines upstream's click and header behavior with the editor-selection guard and injected regression. Recovery ref `codex/coordinator-recovery-843e823b4` preserves pre-rebase work. Current head is MERGEABLE. Full workspace typecheck/build passed; UI and snapshot checks passed 31 tests, but 24 database tests were skipped by the local support probe, and the local browser server could not initialize PostgreSQL. A direct disposable `initdb` diagnostic established the host limitation: `could not create shared memory segment: No space left on device` (`shmget`, shared-memory IDs exhausted, not disk space). No dev database or host setting was changed. Diagnostics: `/tmp/pr17983-2001132-initdb-probe.log`, `/tmp/pr17983-2001132-db-probe.log`; checks: `/tmp/pr17983-2001132-tests.log`, `/tmp/pr17983-2001132-browser.log`, `/tmp/pr17983-2001132-types.log`, `/tmp/pr17983-2001132-build.log`. These local skipped/blocked checks are not claimed as passes; fresh CI on independent runners is in progress. - `d18f683cd` reached fresh Greptile 5/5 with zero comments/open threads and Superagent pass, but [E2E shard 7](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/40785966243/job/123159719925) failed parsing an Advanced YAML clipboard read beginning with “Skip to Main Content.” The log is retained at `/tmp/pr17983-d18f-e2e7.log`. Current head hardens the test helper to verify editor focus and selection, clear stale clipboard content, and require the YAML header at the start of a fresh copy before parsing. Saved-state assertions and timeouts are unchanged. All six Advanced YAML browser journeys passed on a disposable local instance (41.0s); the exact lost-response journey also passed with a one-time injected surrounding-page copy, verifying rejection/reacquisition (17.6s). The precise browser focus/clipboard timing in CI remains unproven; the observed invalid-read path is now guarded and deterministically exercised. Logs: `/tmp/pr17983-yaml-clipboard-scope-browser.log`, `/tmp/pr17983-yaml-clipboard-injected-browser.log`. Fresh current-head CI and reviews are pending. - `19e6dcb0b` passed Superagent and Greptile 5/5, with one nonblocking deep-link finding. Current head preserves attention links using `?decisionId=`: the requested pending decision is rendered even beyond the first 40 cards, focused and scrolled into view, then only that parameter is consumed so later refreshes do not refocus. Other URL parameters remain. Needs You tests 10/10 and UI typecheck passed; its review thread is resolved. The preceding post-rebase regression run passed 45/45 tests. Fresh current-head CI/reviews are pending. - `6d772b7cc` reached Greptile 5/5 with zero comments/open threads and Superagent pass. While 32 checks had passed, master moved and caused a documentation conflict in `maps/feature-map/onboarding.md`. Rebased immediately, preserving both onboarding paragraphs. The complete four-commit branch was pushed as `19e6dcb0b` before waiting on CI/review, per Scott's instruction. A transient Git index lock interrupted the first continue; the command sequence briefly pushed intermediate `34e298c07`, then the completed rebase was immediately pushed. All feature and security/retry fixes are present; local recovery ref `codex/coordinator-recovery-6d772b7cc` preserves the pre-rebase history. The only tree differences from that ref are upstream's two smoke-test files and the combined documentation paragraph. GitHub reports MERGEABLE. Fresh current-head verification is in progress; prior-head review results are not current acceptance. - `21efa3120` passed Superagent but Greptile scored 4/5 for a valid retry-key persistence bug: an acknowledged duplicate key could reopen a resolved review. Current head adds an additive, replay-safe `0404_light_swarm.sql` migration for indexed, task-scoped aliases from acknowledged retry keys to the canonical interaction. Alias registration and retry lookup occur under the existing task lock; payload/actor mismatch still conflicts, and each canonical review permits at most 100 aliases. Original and acknowledged keys replay the terminal result rather than creating a new gate. Five newest migration snapshots are retained. Service/routes tests 165/165 passed; final quality review plus migration replay/snapshot checks 25/25 passed; server typecheck passed. The P1 thread is resolved in code; fresh current-head reviews and CI are pending. - `69c2c7543` passed 55 checks and Greptile 5/5 with no open Greptile findings, but Superagent check [123140675812](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/17983/checks?check_run_id=123140675812) correctly flagged unbounded pending quality-card creation. Current head fixes that under the existing task-row lock: equivalent requests with fresh idempotency keys reuse the pending card; conflicting requests for an unresolved deliverable return the existing interaction ID; pending cards are capped at ten per task across all reviewers. Distinct outputs remain independent, and already-answered items in a partially pending batch can receive a fresh review. Added real-database concurrency, cross-card duplicate, partial-answer, and hard-cap regressions. Quality review 22/22 tests and final server typecheck passed; earlier service/routes 163/163 tests passed before the final partial-answer refinement. One added assertion initially expected a service HTTP error, but duplicate keys are rejected earlier by the existing shared schema; the assertion now verifies that validation. Fresh current-head CI/reviews are pending; the action-required security result is not treated as passed. - `c9c575e5f` completed all 56 checks successfully with four conditional skips, Greptile 5/5, and Superagent pass. Its two P2 review findings are fixed in the current head: independently bound quality approvals now each remain visible in attention; changing/clearing URL-backed assignee/status filters updates the URL and survives task navigation. Both review threads are resolved. Regression evidence: attention service 34/34 tests passed, CoordinatorTasks 20/20 passed, UI and server typechecks and the full workspace build passed on `69c2c7543`. The first new UI test run caught an assertion racing React Router's transition; waiting for the navigation before asserting passes without weakening the navigation/remount checks. These older-head green checks are not claimed for the new fix commit. - Preceding `0e6ef7c44` completed all 56 checks successfully with four conditional skips, fresh Greptile 5/5 and no open findings, and passed Superagent. A fifth migration-metadata collision arrived before the final Runner job finished. Those green results are preserved as prior-head evidence, not current acceptance. - Previous fully verified migration head: `0e6ef7c44696a377f35e69521b93587576374bd0`, integrating master `f8226b051` after the fourth migration-number collision. Master added terminal GitHub-response migration 0401 while the final native check ran; upstream 0401 SQL/journal/snapshot is preserved unchanged, and preferences are generated as idempotent `0402_yielding_blink.sql` on top. Exactly the five newest snapshots remain. GitHub reports MERGEABLE after the push. All 1,155 relevant migration/review/interaction/native-execution/remote-assets tests, workspace typecheck/build, migration guards and whitespace checks pass. Fresh exact-head CI/Greptile/Superagent are pending. - Immediately preceding head `36c67cf03` completed all 56 checks successfully with four conditional skips, fresh Greptile 5/5 and no open findings, plus passed Superagent security. No retry was needed for that head's CI. Master advanced and introduced only a migration-metadata conflict while its final native check ran, so that green result does not establish acceptance of the current integration. Four consecutive collisions (0398, 0399, 0400, 0401) during verification are retained as concrete integration churn; a brief pause of competing migration merges was requested, without assuming it happened or changing any repo setting. The PR has not been merged. - Prior fully verified head: `36c67cf03`, on the clean `30059c0ed` integration of master `efd65c112`. The last Greptile P2 is fixed: Needs attention retains the participant-agent scope through authoritative server membership queries for each pending task, including historical participation when another agent currently owns the task. It does not approximate participation with current assignment or enumerate every company task. The actual view-switch regression and all 31 focused task/routing/collection tests, UI typecheck/build, token gates and whitespace checks pass. Greptile completed a fresh 5/5 review on this exact head (review 19) with zero new comments and no open review threads. CI and Superagent remain in progress; no current-head CI failure has been reported. - Head `30059c0ed` received Greptile 5/5 with that one nonblocking participant finding, now fixed. Superagent passed that head. Current-base integration restored the ephemeral RunsOn fleet after a superseded workflow retained queued aggregate jobs: normal cancellation was insufficient; the single force-cancel request was interrupted but readback confirmed that obsolete run cancelled and current CI began on the trusted fleet. No cancellation retry or runner/security/workflow changes were made. Its partial CI was superseded by the necessary participant fix and is not current acceptance. - Previous compatibility/base-sync head: `30059c0ededc0eab4e04e8299a884f36db8b292f`, integrating master `efd65c112` and the Inbox/workspace compatibility fixes. GitHub reports MERGEABLE after the push. Coordinator keeps Inbox standalone under More without rewriting the instance's Combined Inbox preference; opting out restores that preference. Saved merged-Inbox URLs resolve to their original owner, task status presets remain usable, and canonical repeated `workspace` parameters retain scoped, deduplicated pagination (including Needs attention). All 192 broader routing/Inbox/sidebar/privacy/review tests and the final 16 task-page tests pass, as do workspace typecheck/build, token gates and whitespace checks. The two review threads are resolved. Fresh exact-head CI, Greptile and Superagent results are pending. - The preceding `d5b9be5bd` remained mergeable but its CI routing gate intentionally fell back to GitHub-hosted runners: “stacked base merge commit does not contain the current base branch.” All 45 downstream jobs stayed queued. Current master was merged cleanly to refresh the pinned base; no runner/security settings or workflow logic were changed. Greptile scored that preceding head 4/5 with the two compatibility findings fixed here. Its automatic Superagent scan was inconclusive at checkout; the documented retry was still pending when superseded. Those results do not establish acceptance of this current head. - Previous approval/migration head: `d5b9be5bd3b8d6b0437e42bf48138377f34fa67d`, integrating master `ba5bba86d` and the stale-output approval correction. GitHub reports MERGEABLE after the push. The fresh P1 finding is fixed: every submitted item now validates and locks its bound output inside the resolution transaction, whether or not it carries a required-quality-review binding. Real database regressions verify that an advanced document revision or deleted attachment refuses the entire batch without recording approvals, and current ordinary output reviews still resolve. All 272 combined migration/review/interaction tests pass; workspace typecheck/build passed. Fresh exact-head Greptile and CI are pending. The automatic Superagent scan ended inconclusive at checkout; one documented on-demand retry is pending. These are explicit verification limits, not passed security results. The P1 thread is resolved. - Master consumed the next migration slot three times during this verification pass: confirmation recovery took 0398, continuation recovery took 0399, and GitHub acknowledgement recovery took 0400. Each upstream SQL/journal/snapshot is preserved unchanged. Preferences are now generated as idempotent `0401_white_lenny_balinger.sql` from upstream 0400; exactly five snapshots remain, and replay coverage locates this migration by table content. This is recorded concurrent integration churn, not a claim that older green results apply to the latest base. - Head `ed3b68da9` fixed the two history/URL findings with 26 focused regression tests, server/UI typechecks, workspace build and token gates passing. Greptile then scored that head 4/5 with the stale-output P1 corrected in the current head. Its partial CI is superseded, not counted as current acceptance. - Previous filter-fix head: `ed3b68da9`, based on the `8458d39d9` merge of master `063cfd438`. The two fresh Greptile findings are fixed: history outcome filters now match recorded per-item verdicts in SQL before pagination (mixed reviews remain in both applicable outcomes), and same-page URL assignee changes/back/forward navigation update that filter without clearing independent filters. All 26 focused database/navigation/collection tests, server/UI typechecks, workspace build, token gates and whitespace checks pass. The two review threads are resolved. Fresh exact-head CI, Greptile and Superagent results are pending. - The `8458d39d9` migration integration also passed all 328 targeted migration/interaction/confirmation tests, workspace typecheck/build and Superagent security scan. Greptile scored that head 4/5 with the two functional gaps fixed in the current head; those prior-head checks are not current acceptance. - Migration integration head: `8458d39d9721f4cb312c2390070a0609f8cddd1a`, integrating master `063cfd43813cabf18417605fb9eefb9aacf95c8d`. GitHub reports MERGEABLE after the push. Master advanced twice during this conflict-resolution pass: first its confirmation-recovery migration took 0398, then its continuation-recovery migration took 0399. Both upstream migrations and journal entries remain unchanged; Coordinator preferences are now generated as idempotent `0400_sad_guardian.sql` from upstream's latest snapshot. Exactly the five newest snapshots remain. The replay regression now locates the table migration by content instead of hardcoding a renumbered filename. - All 328 targeted question/review/confirmation/migration tests passed again after the second merge. Workspace typecheck/build and fresh exact-head CI/reviews are in progress. The preceding `0c46f46d6` passed workspace typecheck/build and Superagent security scan, but was superseded because master consumed migration 0399 while those checks ran. That prior-head result is not acceptance of the current head. No production settings or runner/security permissions were changed, and the PR has not been merged. - Previous integration head: `0c46f46d6f2b23417ab872ce3cb6ff2673647287`, integrating master `287b04d72f1b9fca1412e05435c75b8302ba0710`. GitHub reports MERGEABLE after the push. The renewed conflicts were `0398_snapshot.json`, `_journal.json`, and the top imports in `issue-thread-interactions.ts`. Upstream's `0398` confirmation-recovery index and journal history are preserved unchanged; Coordinator preferences were regenerated as idempotent `0399_bouncy_miek.sql`, with replay coverage updated and exactly the five newest snapshots retained. Both terminal confirmation notifications and Coordinator task assignment/required review behavior are preserved. - All 328 targeted interaction/review/confirmation/migration tests pass, as do workspace typecheck, map validation and whitespace checks. The workspace build and fresh exact-head CI/Greptile/Superagent checks are pending. The first migration-generation attempt hit the sandbox's local IPC restriction before generating files; the unchanged authorized local generation completed successfully. Prior-head green checks below do not establish acceptance of this merge. - Previous acceptance head: `8b7dcf739ed15afc51351fdfa0e0e5fbc75ab788`, with master `1aa3a21ac` integrated and GitHub reporting MERGEABLE. Greptile completed a fresh 5/5 review on this exact head with zero new actionable findings and no open review threads. The [fresh CI workflow](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/40752864319) completed SUCCESS on attempt 2 at 19:40:08 UTC, including all eight E2E shards. Final completed check set: 55 succeeded, four conditional checks skipped, zero pending/queued/running checks, and one neutral/inconclusive Superagent scan. The auxiliary commitperclip review and isolated native Runner compilation/cache-reuse check both passed. This is not a claim that Superagent produced a passed security verdict. GitHub still reports MERGEABLE against current master `60b8089a44b4eaa37e627adbfdf2f130bda13335`. - Current-head E2E: all eight shards and the aggregate passed, including the previously failing YAML browser journey. Serialized server shard 9/9 failed: the protected YAML projection test exceeded its original 15-second timeout; its late update request then reached the next test's reset mock (the captured payload is the prior test's model/label update). All 88 tests in that exact unchanged file passed locally in 38.03 seconds, with no timeout or assertion changes. The original slow-request cause remains unproven. CI failure log: `/tmp/pr17983-8b7-serialized9.log`; local recovery: `/tmp/pr17983-adapter-yaml-repro.log`. The single bounded unchanged shard rerun passed, and the workflow completed SUCCESS. Rerun log: `/tmp/pr17983-8b7-serialized9-rerun.log`. The initial failure is retained; a passing retry does not establish its original slow-request cause. - Greptile scored preceding head `4873704be` 5/5 with one valid P2: opened task decision records missed company-scoped live invalidation. The current head uses the existing company decision prefix for resolution and effect-completion events, and resets private record payloads on access changes. Its thread is resolved. All 107 focused record/live-update tests, UI typecheck/build, token checks and whitespace checks pass. - CI on `4873704be` failed E2E shard 7/8 in the Advanced YAML lost-creation-response journey: its clipboard helper selected page text starting with “Skip to Main Content” instead of YAML. The exact unchanged journey passed in a disposable local browser instance (1 test, 17.1 seconds). No assertion, timeout or production behavior was weakened; the original failure cause remains unproven. Failure log: `/tmp/pr17983-487-e2e7.log`; local check: `/tmp/pr17983-agent-yaml-repro.log`. The full unchanged Advanced YAML browser suite also passed locally (6 tests, 37.8 seconds). Fresh current-head CI subsequently passed this journey and all other E2E shards. - Both the automatic and one supported on-demand Superagent scan on `4873704be` ended neutral/inconclusive: “Pinned PR scan merge-base checkout failed or timed out.” These do not count as a passed security verdict. The current head's automatic scan and one documented on-demand retry also returned the identical neutral checkout failure, with zero annotations or further diagnostics. This is an external scanner blocker, not a passed security verdict. No security settings or permissions were changed. - Recorded decision links now render and focus the full source-task record in both Classic and Coordinator, including recorded choice, submitted inputs, and the existing effect-result resolver. Fresh terminal records take precedence over older open-decision cache entries. Context and account checks keep mismatched or inaccessible records out of the DOM; no decision-history tab was added to tasks or chat. The shared company live-run feed now drives live-only filtering, including ended runs and terminal tasks with stale run entries. All 213 focused tests, UI typecheck/build, token and whitespace checks pass; the final focus follow-up passed all 188 task-detail tests and UI typecheck. The first new navigation test failed because its test host omitted company context; the host was corrected before the passing run. - Previous integration head: `375c5e89516705050d94bab99336212841b2e6e1` merges master `1aa3a21ac` after four additional upstream commits. The sole conflict was competing imports in `server/src/services/issues.ts`; both quality-review policy and inbound wake-notice notifications are preserved. The PR-specific review import now sits beside execution-policy imports instead of the frequently changing first line. GitHub mergeability is rechecked after the push. - On the combined master tree, workspace typecheck/build, all 153 affected UI tests, map validation, and whitespace checks pass. Four server suites passed 77 tests; the fifth suite's module-import hook timed out while broad verification was running. Its unchanged isolated run passed all 41 tests in 7.2 seconds with the original timeout. This records recovery without claiming the original import-timeout cause is proven. CI on `375c5e895` passed every substantive job, including all eight E2E shards and Superagent; Greptile found the two functional gaps fixed in the current head. A short-lived `669d90876` commit added the main fixes before the focused navigation follow-up. - Immediately preceding head `9d9737b49` completed all 56 checks successfully with four conditional skips, Greptile 5/5 and no open findings, plus a successful Superagent scan. The signoff E2E shard passed on its single accepted rerun; its initial cancellation/timing failure is retained below. Master moved again while those checks ran, requiring this final integration rather than treating the prior head's green result as current acceptance. - Previous head `9d9737b496911a6054d0ea22d1b42b28b115e9ab` includes master `d30c8f42b842327ee1c18c41a2efd6ba623da5cd`; that head was subsequently conflicted by moving master. The master merge preserved durable account-bound writes and Coordinator UX. Workspace typecheck/build, 416 focused UI tests, and 142 affected comment-route tests passed. A stable full UI run on preceding head `938ad1665` passed all 9,833 tests across 836 files; its final full workspace build also passed. - Greptile found nested proposal project inheritance and Classic bound-revision links on `91be74952`. Both were fixed with 142 interaction-route tests, 113 focused UI tests, and UI/server typechecks. Its next review identified a valid draft-preservation bug in the new Classic loading UI. Head `9d9737b49` keeps loading/error notices outside editors and annotations while preserving dirty drafts; 115 focused review UI tests pass, including pending/failed revision loads and continued draft editing. All related threads are resolved. Greptile completed a fresh 5/5 review of `9d9737b496911a6054d0ea22d1b42b28b115e9ab` with no open findings. - CI on `938ad1665` exposed an integration regression with the newly merged durable startup saves: the personal preference gate blocked the task page before its first session lookup. The guarded title editor now mounts while that lookup is pending, with presentation-specific tools still gated. All 216 affected component tests pass. The unchanged five-test `disconnect-write-recovery.spec.ts` browser suite passes against a newly launched disposable local-trusted PostgreSQL instance on port 33219, including the exact failed startup-save journey. No live provider, hosted authentication or production proof is claimed. The helper-owned test server exited and the port has no listener. UI typecheck, built-browser assets, token and whitespace checks pass. - Initial durable-write merge tests found duplicate imports and unscoped draft fixtures, fixed before 416 focused tests passed. A sandbox typecheck could not create its IPC socket; the supported rerun passed. The first revision-link test used a wrong Return to latest button assertion, corrected before the 113-test pass. The startup E2E reproduction initially still failed because an outer shell gate also blocked the page; the subsequent fix passed all five cases without changing the test or its timeouts. A focused loading-header assertion initially used an incorrect fixture title; correcting it preceded the 216-test pass. These failures remain recorded. - Earlier routing gates fell back to GitHub-hosted runners while master was moving or conflicted. Superseded queued runs were cancelled, then the `938ad1665` routing gate explicitly selected the ephemeral RunsOn fleet. Its CI actively executed and completed most tests; only the diagnosed startup E2E shard and aggregate failed, alongside the valid Greptile finding. Auxiliary GitHub-hosted workflows also completed successfully on earlier heads, so queueing alone is not an administrative blocker. Fresh [CI on `9d9737b49`](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/actions/runs/40744012678) is the acceptance target; the previously failing startup E2E shard now passes. A different signoff E2E shard failed during executor resubmission when its fixture run was cancelled as `issue_continuation_waiting_on_review`. The exact unchanged journey passed locally (1 test, 46 seconds), and the preceding head with identical server/signoff code passed that CI shard. This supports a bounded rerun but does not establish the timing failure's root cause. After the workflow finished, GitHub accepted one rerun of that failed shard and its dependent aggregate; both passed, completing all checks on that head. The failure log is retained at `/tmp/pr17983-9d9737-e2e7.log` and the local reproduction at `/tmp/pr17983-signoff-repro.log`. No assertion or timeout was weakened. - On the first merge, full workspace typecheck/build, all 9,622 UI tests, 267 tests across seven affected server suites, two migration checks, map validation, token gates, and the PR diff whitespace check passed. Greptile then found duplicate local task-search filtering and lost completed item-review detail. Both are fixed, with 42 passing focused UI tests and passing UI typecheck/build. - A subsequent Greptile review found attachment confirmations without working links and mobile history without a visible host. Confirmation layouts now derive the authenticated immutable-content endpoint from the attachment ID, and Needs You uses the existing full-screen mobile sheet. All 119 focused tests pass, including missing/stale display URLs, both review layouts, and both mobile history entry buttons. UI typecheck/build and token checks pass. Full workspace typecheck/build also pass after the second master merge. - Greptile gave head |

feat(ui): keep writes durable through temporary disconnects (#17960)
<!-- entire-trail-link-start --> https://entire.com/gh/paperclipai/-/trails/123/changes/paperclip/123 <!-- entire-trail-link-end --> ## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - People save tasks, write documents, make decisions and send board messages. > - A disconnect can hide a response after the server accepts a write. > - Recovery must keep the original account, task and request key. > - The merged connection foundation in #15754 handles reads and shared outage state. > - This change adds bounded write recovery and explicit actions when recovery stops. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **What happened?** Temporary failures could lose edits, report accepted writes as failures, or require people to copy and send input again. A retry could target a newly selected task or account. Restoring attachments could create a second task. **Expected behavior** Keep the draft, its owner and its target. Retry only operations with a server contract that prevents duplicate writes. Verify uncertain results. Show conflicts and permanent failures, with an explicit resend or cancel action. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Save a task title during an outage, then open another task before recovery. 2. Restore a task creation that needs files, selecting those files in another order. 3. Lose a document or decision response, then interrupt the verification read. 4. Switch accounts while a create, upload or connected-channel publication is pending. 5. Type and erase a new-task draft before the first account lookup completes, then reopen it. This PR carries the write layer from #15769 and its review fixes. It targets master after #15754 merged. Related test cleanup #16952 already covers the unchanged copy-link toast test; this PR does not duplicate that work. ## What Changed - Add bounded autosave and submit jobs for supported writes, with pending, conflict and manual retry states. Retain admitted autosaves after navigation and preserve newer task revisions. - Keep each job with its original account, task and operation. First account resolution adopts admitted startup work; a later account change cancels old work. Remount inline and document editors when their owner or document subject changes. - Preserve task-creation keys and immutable request snapshots through file reattachment. Restore generated document keys before comparing reselected files. Reject changed requests instead of creating a second task. - Check the original account scope before creates and each upload. Save successful upload receipts before stopping on an account change. Identify attachments by content digest and metadata. - Verify uncertain document and decision results. Replay only plain, keyed comments automatically; combined reassignment, reopen and run-setting changes require receipt reconciliation or cancel. Settle each request once when a receipt races its retry. - Scope drafts and connected-channel publication reads to their owner. Keep unowned older records unread and unreplayed, with an explicit confirmed discard action after Activity inspection. Preserve typing through the first session lookup, keep erased text erased, and report browser persistence only when storage succeeds. - Wait for the first account lookup before sending startup status changes or decisions. Retry failed required lookups with a fixed limit and surface exhaustion to the original action. Preserve uncertain comment keys on account cancellation. Check the account generation before a comment retry calls its sender and again immediately before POST after asynchronous preparation. Retire only that request’s optimistic echo on completion. - Return an ordinary comment’s accepted same-company, same-task, same-user receipt before workspace reopening, task status changes or wakeups. Reused keys with changed text still conflict. Complete reference and activity records through the same finalizer for initial sends and accepted retries. It locks the task before its comment, matching task and company deletion, comment removal and tombstoning, rejects removed or tombstoned comments, repairs references and inserts a missing activity record in one transaction, and publishes after commit. - Remove reader-only record and comment-body size caps so accepted browser writes remain readable, including JSON-escaped comment requests in local and session storage. Update four existing Storybook fixtures to use owned draft keys. - Document the write contracts and add regression and real browser recovery coverage. - Add the exact reviewed-save recovery regression for both composer implementations and reloads. Align receipt completion, both comment deletion methods and company deletion with task deletion by locking tasks first. Cover real task and company deletion races. ## Verification - The exact reviewed-unknown-save regression fails in all four cases on original commit `1ed0af4186`. It passes with this PR for both composers, before and after reload. Cancel keeps the text and uploaded receipt. The retained draft sends, and the next message also sends. Run `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/ui ui/src/components/composer-recovery.test.tsx`. - The new real PostgreSQL task-deletion race fails with SQLSTATE `40P01` on parent commit `f3253a00c4`. The company-deletion race also fails with `40P01` on `e8cf0e02dd`. All six receipt tests pass after the final lock-order fixes. They cover company deletion, task deletion, comment removal, tombstoning, concurrent cross-task references and interrupted reference repair. Run `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/server server/src/__tests__/issue-comment-receipt-postgres.test.ts`. - The full UI run passed 9,656 of 9,659 tests across 816 files. Three cases failed under that run: two large-tree timeouts and one plugin-panel assertion. All 67 tests in those two files passed in an isolated rerun. These failures remain recorded; this does not claim a clean full UI run. - `pnpm -r typecheck`, `pnpm build`, token gates and map checks pass on the final change. The local full repository test command was started, then stopped when the delivery moved to this existing PR. Fresh PR CI must provide the full-suite gate. - A local Storybook walkthrough used the real rich editor. Cancel kept the restored text, Send cleared it after the simulated save, and a new draft enabled Send again. Storybook simulates submission; it is not staging acceptance. - Earlier verification on `f3253a00c4` recorded five browser journeys for title saves, cached-task offline recovery, startup recovery, accepted comment replay and session lookup failure. Those results remain prior-head evidence. No new staging deployment is claimed. - On `e8cf0e02dd`, all CI checks passed after one browser-shard rerun. Its first failure copied page text instead of YAML in an unrelated agent-configuration test. On final commit `35131d4380`, Greptile is 5/5 with no unresolved review threads. The first CI attempt has two failures outside this diff: runner close-attachment suspension and scheduled-retry teardown. The scheduled-retry file passes all 14 tests in isolation; the isolated runner test still fails locally. The single standard CI rerun passed both jobs, and the aggregate verification gate passed. All CI checks are green on `35131d4380`; Apex is 5/5 on that same commit with no unresolved findings. ## Risks - Automatic replay requires server duplicate prevention or result verification. Uncertain combined mutations require receipt observation or cancel and a fresh intentional send. - Old unowned form drafts remain stored but are not assigned to an account. Unowned channel records can be retired after Activity inspection; this never cancels an accepted remote update. - Browser storage and hashing can be unavailable. Storage failure is reported honestly. Without a digest, replay can duplicate an upload rather than silently drop a selected file. - Detached autosaves remain bounded and check account ownership on each attempt. Conflicts or exhaustion retain the draft for explicit recovery. - No schema, credential or agent permission change is included. This PR does not claim staging deployment or original-task acceptance. ## Model Used Anthropic Claude Opus 5.5 (`claude-opus-5-5`) produced the original implementation with tool use. feat(ui): integrate agent personas across the app (#13171)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - A stable agent persona is useful only when the same identity appears across the app. > - Lists, task messages, selectors, and activity feeds need inexpensive static avatars. > - Onboarding and agent headers need a larger character with expressions and pointer tracking. > - This pull request connects the persona foundation to those existing views and preserves onboarding draft assignments. > - Full-page stories and Linux checks make the placements and performance contract reviewable. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description **Problem or motivation** Agents need a stable visual identity in lists, tasks, onboarding, and configuration. External tools also need an image URL for that identity. **Proposed solution** Assign each agent a permanent palette from a fixed ClipLab character library. Store the assignment on the agent. Render and cache preset PNG URLs on demand. Use static images in dense views and one animated character in larger placements. **Alternatives considered** A generated image bundle requires a separate asset build. A live renderer in every avatar adds unnecessary work in large lists. Arbitrary uploaded images do not provide the requested shared character system. **Roadmap alignment** This improves agent identity across existing control-plane views. It preserves agent permissions, company boundaries, and status labels. ROADMAP.md has no separate ClipLab persona milestone. Related approaches: #2422 adds configurable image URLs and DiceBear generation; #5578 adds optional uploaded avatars. This work uses a fixed, versioned character library and preset URLs. ## What Changed - Replace agent icons with static persona images across lists, the sidebar, org charts, tasks, comments, selectors, activity, and dashboard views. - Put one animated character in the agent header. Let it follow the pointer across the page, with reduced-motion and touch fallbacks. - Add larger padded characters to agent creation. Keep the palette stable across draft refreshes and connection retries, then reveal it after success. - Pass appearance through shared projections rather than fetching each agent separately. - Add real full-page Storybook examples for the agent list, overview, task, dashboard, new-agent dialog, and connection page. - Add Linux screenshot, clipping, density, and 500-avatar performance checks. ## Verification - `pnpm -r typecheck`, `pnpm build`, and token gates pass on the rebased tree. Persona lifecycle tests pass. - The rebased feature passes 38 Linux screenshot/performance checks, including both display densities, corner pointer positions, and the no-WebGL/no-live-download contract for 500 avatars. - The final Linux persona suite passes all 38 visual, lifecycle, density, and full-page checks using the standard Storybook configuration and real on-demand avatar endpoint. - Final local focused verification: 45 avatar/native-recovery tests pass; UI identity/routine tests, typecheck/build, token gates, and Storybook build pass. - Current-head CI passes: full workspace/server tests, all serialized server groups, typecheck/release checks, build, canary validation, and end-to-end shards. The build passed after retrying a native-runner concurrency-test failure; its three targeted cases also pass locally. - Manual inspection covered stable identities in the app, header placement, full-page mouse tracking, onboarding size, and task/dashboard placements. ### Screenshots Linux captures use synthetic Storybook fixtures. Full-page captures use reduced motion. The live character, mouse tracking, and disposal are checked separately. <details> <summary>Agent overview with the character in its header</summary> <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/paperclipai/paperclip/8c68f42b268ada22b67d79d0fe1bb0a2f84ec25c/screenshots/full-page-agent-overview.png" width="900" alt="Agent overview with the character in its header" /> </details> <details> <summary>Task messages and assignee identity</summary> <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/paperclipai/paperclip/8c68f42b268ada22b67d79d0fe1bb0a2f84ec25c/screenshots/full-page-task.png" width="900" alt="Task messages and assignee identity" /> </details> <details> <summary>Larger onboarding character with room for expressions</summary> <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/paperclipai/paperclip/8c68f42b268ada22b67d79d0fe1bb0a2f84ec25c/screenshots/full-page-meet-your-next-agent.png" width="900" alt="Larger onboarding character with room for expressions" /> </details> <details> <summary>Dashboard agent activity</summary> <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/paperclipai/paperclip/8c68f42b268ada22b67d79d0fe1bb0a2f84ec25c/screenshots/full-page-company-dashboard.png" width="900" alt="Dashboard agent activity" /> </details> ## Risks - This PR depends on #13170, the persona foundation. Merge the foundation first, then retarget this PR to master. - Many placements change from icons to character silhouettes. Human avatars and authoritative agent status labels retain their existing behavior. - Only one character can render live per view. Reduced motion, hidden/offscreen content, touch input, and renderer failures use the defined fallbacks. - The full-page stories use fixture data. They do not contact a real company or complete real provider sign-in. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-6 family. The exact model identifier and context window are not exposed in this session. Used code editing, shell execution, browser inspection, and Linux visual testing. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have searched GitHub for duplicate or related PRs and linked them above - [x] I have either (a) linked existing issues with `Fixes: #` / `Closes #` / `Refs #` OR (b) described the issue in-PR following the relevant issue template - [x] I have not referenced internal/instance-local Paperclip issues or links (only public GitHub `#NNN` / `github.com/paperclipai/paperclip` URLs) - [x] My branch name describes the change (e.g. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> Co-authored-by: Tonio <tonework@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(server): add explicit review verdict policies (#10931)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - Issues use `in_review` to request a final decision from an authorized writer > - The server rejected an assignee agent that tried to close its own review, even when the issue had no independent-review rule > - This rejection stopped the default agent workflow and did not represent the configured execution-stage rules > - Paperclip needs an open default and explicit issue-level constraints for teams that require an independent or human verdict > - This pull request removes the unconditional rejection and adds `anyone`, `not_creator`, and `human_only` review policies > - The benefit is a working default path with opt-in, authenticated verdict controls ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #10635, #4429, and #10671. The related public work covers execution-stage independence, self-approval fallback behavior, and durable review paths. This change is distinct. It controls who can resolve an issue review verdict. It keeps configured execution stages active. ## What Changed - Added a nullable `review_policy` issue column. Null has the same meaning as `anyone`. The migration does not backfill existing issues. - Added shared create, update, response, and compact issue contracts for `anyone`, `not_creator`, and `human_only`. - Removed the unconditional agent self-approval rejection for `in_review` issues. - Added one reusable verdict-actor check for terminal status changes and pending interaction accept or reject actions. - Used the authenticated principal type for `human_only`. Agent keys and run tokens remain agent principals. - Used the latest transition into `in_review` to identify the requester for `not_creator`. - Added actionable 403 responses that name the policy, the allowed actor, and the next step. - Kept the configured execution-stage transition and signoff behavior. - Added focused contract, helper, status-route, interaction-route, and execution-stage regression tests. - Updated the implementation specification for the new issue field. ## Verification - `pnpm exec vitest run packages/shared/src/validators/issue.test.ts server/src/__tests__/issue-review-policy.test.ts server/src/__tests__/issue-stalled-review-decision-routes.test.ts --reporter=dot` passed: 42 tests. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/shared typecheck` passed. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/db typecheck` passed, including migration numbering and safety checks. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` passed. - `pnpm run typecheck:build-gaps` passed across server, CLI, plugin SDK/examples, plugin wiki, and UI. - `git diff --check origin/master...HEAD` passed. - SecurityEngineer review approved the authenticated-principal checks and accepted policy-relaxation tradeoff with no required changes. - Greptile reviewed the latest head at 5/5 with zero inline comments or follow-ups. - The latest-head GitHub rollup passed build, typecheck, server/workspace tests, serialized suites, canary, e2e, and external security checks. ## Risks - The migration adds one nullable text column. It has no default and no backfill. - `not_creator` reads the latest recorded transition into `in_review`. It denies the verdict when it cannot identify the requester. - Agents can change or relax `reviewPolicy` when they have issue write access. This is intentional for this issue-level control. - Null and `anyone` do not add a database query to the verdict path. - Configured execution-stage checks still run after the issue-level policy check. > This work aligns with the completed "Agent Reviews and Approvals" and "Enforced Outcomes" roadmap items. It does not add a new roadmap capability. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex, GPT-5. The exact deployment ID and context-window size are not exposed to the agent. The run used reasoning, repository tools, code execution, and GitHub CLI access. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

fix(ui): use HTTP-safe clipboard copy everywhere (#10875)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Operators often open self-hosted Paperclip over plain HTTP on a LAN or private network. > - Browser Clipboard API writes are not reliable in that insecure context. > - Paperclip already has one shared helper with a legacy copy fallback, but many current copy actions bypass it. > - This pull request routes every core UI copy action and the first-party workspace-diff plugin through the shared helper. > - The benefit is consistent copy behavior on HTTPS, localhost, and plain-HTTP private deployments. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #3529. This change supersedes the stale prior attempt in #3531. Current master has more copy surfaces and a first-party plugin UI bridge that the prior branch does not cover. ## What Changed - Replaced direct Clipboard API writes and duplicate fallback implementations across the current core UI with `copyTextToClipboard`. - Added an HTTP-safe clipboard function to the plugin UI SDK and wired the host bridge to the same implementation. - Migrated the first-party workspace-diff plugin to the plugin SDK clipboard function. - Added unit coverage for native rejection fallback and plugin host delegation. - Added a source-level regression test that rejects new direct clipboard writes outside the shared implementation. - Documented the plugin UI clipboard function. ## Verification - `NODE_ENV=test pnpm exec vitest run ...` for 14 affected suites: 164 tests passed. - `pnpm exec vitest run tests/ui-clipboard.test.ts` in `packages/plugins/sdk`: 1 test passed. - `NODE_ENV=test pnpm -r typecheck`: passed for 31 workspace projects. - `NODE_ENV=test pnpm test:run`: passed. - `NODE_ENV=production pnpm build`: passed. - `pnpm check:token-gates`: passed with all gates clean. ## Risks Low risk. Secure contexts still use the modern Clipboard API. Plain HTTP and rejected modern writes use the existing `execCommand("copy")` fallback. That API is deprecated, but it is the compatibility path required for insecure contexts. The change has no schema, API, or visual design effect. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, `gpt-5.6-sol`. The runtime did not expose a context-window size. Reasoning, tool use, repository editing, test execution, and GitHub CLI access were enabled.

Cases: experimental first-class case object (#9198)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - The board currently uses issues for execution, but longer-lived content work needs a separate object that can survive beyond a single task thread. > - The Cases subsystem adds an experimental, company-scoped record for content artifacts and their supporting metadata. > - The backend needs durable storage, API routes, revision history, issue linkage, and company-boundary enforcement before the UI can depend on Cases. > - The UI needs an opt-in navigation surface, list/detail views, reference chips, and issue-page context so operators can inspect Cases without making them the default workflow. > - The agent-facing skills need a contract for creating and updating Cases so automated content workflows can dogfood the feature. > - This pull request ships that experimental end-to-end path behind the `enableCases` flag. > - The benefit is a first-class place to collect content work, references, attachments, revisions, and related execution threads without polluting the core issue model. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No public GitHub issue exists for this experimental feature. Feature request fields: ### Problem Content-oriented work such as release notes, announcements, docs, and campaigns can span many execution issues, which makes the final artifact hard to find and reason about after the execution thread moves on. ### Proposed solution Add an experimental Cases object that is company-scoped, linked to issues, queryable through the API, inspectable in the board UI, and writable by agent workflows through documented conventions. ### Alternatives considered Continue encoding content artifacts directly in issues or documents only. That keeps the data model smaller, but it does not give operators a stable artifact-centric view or a clean way to link related execution history. ### Roadmap alignment Checked `ROADMAP.md`; this PR does not duplicate an existing planned core roadmap item. ## What Changed - Added the `cases` data model, migration, schema exports, and experimental `enableCases` instance setting. - Added company-scoped Cases API routes for list/detail/update, issue links, revisions, children, activity events, annotations, attachments, and idempotent agent-oriented upserts. - Scoped case and issue lookup helpers before access checks so inaccessible cross-company identifiers resolve as not found rather than leaking existence. - Fixed case PATCH timestamp handling so non-status updates cannot overwrite `completedAt` from a stale pre-transaction row snapshot. - Moved Cases list type/status/project filters into the server request before the server-side limit is applied, including multi-select filters and no-project filtering. - Added backend route coverage for creation, updates, idempotency, issue linking, attribution, company-boundary enforcement, OpenAPI registration, list filtering, timestamp patch behavior, and inaccessible lookup regressions. - Added the experimental Cases UI surface: sidebar entry, gated routes, list filters/grouping, detail overview, activity, revisions, children, attachments, and issue-page case rail. - Added case reference rendering and company-prefixed case href generation so case links resolve directly inside the active company route. - Added Paperclip skill documentation for agent workflows that create or update Cases. - Wired release-content skills to emit Cases for dogfooding. - Rebased onto current `master` and renumbered the Cases migrations to `0143`/`0144` after the latest upstream migration sequence. ## Verification - Current PR head: `ecc13be0d`. - Rebased on current `master` (`606aa4f266`) and pushed to the existing PR branch. - `git diff --check origin/master...HEAD` — passed before the first update push; subsequent committed diffs were also checked with `git diff --check` before commit. - Guardrails checked: no `pnpm-lock.yaml` changes, no `.github/workflows` changes, and changed-file count is below the Greptile 100-file limit. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/cases-routes.test.ts src/__tests__/instance-settings-service.test.ts src/__tests__/openapi-routes.test.ts` — passed, 3 files / 26 tests before review-fix commits. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/cases-routes.test.ts` — passed after each server-side Greptile fix, latest 1 file / 15 tests. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` — passed after the timestamp and lookup fixes. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui exec vitest run src/pages/Cases.test.tsx src/pages/CaseDetail.test.tsx src/pages/CompanySkills.test.tsx src/App.cases-routing.test.tsx` — passed, 4 files / 30 tests before review-fix commits. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui exec vitest run src/pages/Cases.test.tsx` — passed after the list-filter fix, 1 file / 12 tests. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` — passed after the list-filter fix. - `pnpm check:token-gates` — passed after UI changes. - Remote PR checks on head `ecc13be0d` are green: Paperclip CI, build, typecheck, test matrix, e2e, Canary Dry Run, policy, commit review, Superagent Security Scan, Socket, Snyk, and Greptile passed; Storybook visual regression is skipped and security-review is neutral. - Greptile Review: 5/5 confidence, zero unresolved Greptile threads. ## Risks - Medium feature risk because this introduces a new experimental domain object across database, server, shared contracts, skills, and UI. - The feature is gated behind `enableCases`, which limits default operator exposure while the model is exercised. - Case links now prefer company-prefixed hrefs; the unprefixed redirect remains for externally entered URLs. - Cases list filtering now sends multi-select filters to the server before limiting; the UI still applies the same local filters as a second pass for ancestor/context rows. - Migrations were renumbered on top of current master; the SQL uses guarded `IF NOT EXISTS` / `ADD COLUMN IF NOT EXISTS` patterns where relevant for safer replay. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used OpenAI GPT-5 Codex in the Paperclip local coding environment was used for this PR curation, rebase verification, review-fix implementation, push, and PR description update. The runtime exposes tool use and shell execution; context-window size is not exposed by this Paperclip adapter. [codex] Polish operator UI work state details (#9320)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work > - Operators use the issue list, blocked-work notices, pipeline body documents, and issue documents to understand what agents are doing > - Some of those surfaces had low-information details: live-work blockers were visually easy to miss, revision history showed generic actor labels, and selected active subtasks carried an extra accent border > - These details matter because Paperclip's default UI should make agent state and work history legible without requiring users to inspect raw logs > - This pull request groups a small set of related operator UI polish changes for those work-state and document-history surfaces > - The benefit is clearer review context for blocked work, better attribution in document revision history, and cleaner active-subtask row styling ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No public GitHub issue found during dedup search. ### Bug Report **Pre-submission checklist** - Searched existing open PRs/issues for `document revision authors` and `blocked notice live work`; no duplicates found. - Reproduced against the current `master` base for this PR. - Confirmed this is core board UI behavior, not adapter/provider/local configuration. **What happened?** Blocked live-work notices, document revision history, pipeline body document revision history, and active subtask rows exposed technically correct but low-signal UI details. Revision menus could show generic `Board`/`Agent` labels instead of the specific author, and selected active subtasks had an extra accent border. **Expected behavior** Operators should see clear blocked-live-work copy, recognizable revision authors using available agent/user profile data, and visually consistent selected task rows. **Steps to reproduce** 1. Open an issue with a live-work blocker and inspect the blocked notice. 2. Open an issue document revision menu with agent/user-authored revisions. 3. Open a pipeline item body document revision menu with agent/user-authored revisions. 4. Inspect a selected active subtask row in the issue list. **Paperclip version or commit** `8b6a06ee2` (`origin/master` at branch creation). **Deployment mode** Local dev / self-hosted board UI. **Installation method** Built from source. **Agent adapter(s) involved** Not adapter-specific (core board UI). **Database mode** Not database-related. **Access context** Board operator UI. **Relevant logs or output** Not applicable. **Relevant config** Not applicable. **Additional context** This PR is a small polish/fix contribution. `ROADMAP.md` allows tightly scoped bugs and polish without roadmap-level coordination. **Privacy checklist** Reviewed the PR body for private instance references and omitted internal ticket links. ## What Changed - Polished the live-work blocked notice copy and tests so operators get a clearer explanation of what is blocking progress. - Show issue document revision authors with agent/user names and avatar treatment instead of generic actor labels. - Show pipeline body document revision authors with the same available agent/user profile data. - Removed the extra left accent border from selected active subtask rows. - Stabilized the document revision test helper for React runtimes where `act` is not exported as a function. ## Verification - `git diff --check origin/master..HEAD` - `git diff --name-only origin/master..HEAD -- .github/workflows pnpm-lock.yaml` produced no output. - `pnpm check:token-gates` passed: all color literal, arbitrary bracket value, and raw font-size gates clean. - `pnpm exec vitest run ui/src/components/IssueBlockedNotice.test.tsx ui/src/components/IssueDocumentsSection.test.tsx ui/src/components/IssueRow.test.tsx` passed: 3 test files, 32 tests. - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` passed. - Remote PR checks passed on head `3e18fe3f`: 22 complete, 0 pending, 0 failing. - Greptile completed at 5/5 with no blocking issues after addressing the pipeline revision author feedback. ## Risks Low risk. The change is limited to board UI rendering and component tests. The main risk is a subtle visual regression in issue/document surfaces that are not covered by screenshots; the affected component tests cover the intended copy, attribution, and row-style behavior. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex coding agent, GPT-5 model family, tool-enabled CLI session. Exact runtime context window is not exposed by this execution environment. `docs/...`, `fix/...`) and contains no internal Paperclip ticket id or instance-derived details - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] All Paperclip CI gates are green - [x] Greptile is 5/5 with no open P2s, recommendations, or follow-ups - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

feat(secrets): add user-specific runtime secrets (#8825)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for work. > - Agent runs often need provider credentials, API tokens, and other environment-bound secrets. > - Company-level secrets work for shared credentials, but they do not model values that should differ by human operator. > - Without a user-scoped model, a run can dispatch without knowing whether the responsible human has supplied the needed value. > - Paperclip also needs run attribution to make those user-scoped runtime checks deterministic and auditable. > - This pull request adds user-specific secret definitions, per-user values, environment bindings, responsible-user attribution, and runtime resolution gates. > - The benefit is that teams can define the secret once, let each user provide their own value, and block runs before dispatch when required user secrets or active definitions are unavailable. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description Refs #224 Refs #6057 This PR implements user-specific secret support as a core secret-management capability rather than a one-off adapter setting. It is related to existing public work on company secrets UI and runtime secret refs, but is distinct because the value is owned by the responsible user and resolved at run dispatch time. Related PR search before opening found existing secrets work such as #1550, #8256, #8614, #8634, and #8647; none of those add the full user-secret definition/value/runtime gate covered here. ## What Changed - Added user-secret definitions and per-user "My secrets" values, keeping stored values out of access metadata. - Added `user_secret_ref` environment bindings and UI affordances to pick them alongside existing secret refs. - Added responsible-user runtime resolution so user-secret refs resolve against the human responsible for the run. - Added pre-dispatch missing-secret gates so runs fail before adapter dispatch when required user values are absent or definitions are inactive. - Added low-trust allowlist hardening for user-secret runtime access. - Added issue, routine, run, and agent API key responsible-user attribution and fail-closed dispatch behavior when attribution cannot be resolved. - Added denial-copy mapping so responsible-user authorization failures surface as actionable run outcomes instead of opaque setup failures. - Added OpenAPI documentation for the user-secret routes. - Rebases cleanly on current `master`; migrations were renumbered incrementally as `0128_user_specific_secrets`, `0129_agent_api_key_responsible_user`, and `0130_run_responsible_user_invariant` after upstream `0126`/`0127` migrations. - Removed previously committed local design screenshots so the PR contains code/docs/tests only. ## Verification - PASS: PR head `2527febd106bcf3ca264ca0da7fca491084192d6` is based on `paperclipai/paperclip:master`. - PASS: `git diff --check` - PASS: `git diff --name-only public/master...HEAD | rg '^(pnpm-lock\\.yaml|\\.github/workflows/|screenshots/)' || true` produced no files. - PASS: migration journal audit confirmed unique indexes through `130` with tail entries `0126_issue_comment_derived_attribution`, `0127_environment_custom_images_instance_scoped`, `0128_user_specific_secrets`, `0129_agent_api_key_responsible_user`, and `0130_run_responsible_user_invariant`. - PASS: `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` - PASS: `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` - PASS: `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/heartbeat-responsible-user-invariant.test.ts` - PASS: `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/heartbeat-active-run-output-watchdog.test.ts src/__tests__/heartbeat-stale-queue-invalidation.test.ts src/__tests__/heartbeat-workspace-finalize-branch.test.ts src/__tests__/issue-monitor-scheduler.test.ts` - PASS: `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/heartbeat-comment-wake-batching.test.ts src/__tests__/heartbeat-retry-scheduling.test.ts src/__tests__/heartbeat-accepted-plan-workspace-refresh.test.ts src/__tests__/heartbeat-plugin-environment.test.ts` - PASS: `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/low-trust-red-team-routes.test.ts` - PASS: `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/secrets-service.test.ts` (55 tests) - PASS: `pnpm vitest run server/src/__tests__/secrets-routes.test.ts server/src/__tests__/secrets-service.test.ts` (89 tests after final Greptile cleanup fixes) - PASS: `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server exec vitest run src/__tests__/heartbeat-issue-liveness-escalation.test.ts` (17 tests after the final rebase CI fix) - PASS: focused server Vitest batches covering heartbeat recovery, project env, plugin env, routines, low-trust, pipelines, monitors, watchdog, and stale queue paths. - PASS: GitHub checks are green on `2527febd106bcf3ca264ca0da7fca491084192d6`, including Typecheck + Release Registry, Build, General tests, serialized server suites, e2e, Canary Dry Run, verify, security checks, and Greptile Review. - PASS: Greptile Review completed successfully on `2527febd106bcf3ca264ca0da7fca491084192d6` with Confidence Score 5/5, and GraphQL review-thread audit returned zero unresolved non-outdated threads. ## Risks - Runtime behavior now depends on a run having a correct responsible user; missing or incorrect responsibility assignment can block runs before adapter dispatch. - `user_secret_ref` bindings intentionally expose metadata without values, but UI/API callers may need to handle the new binding kind explicitly. - External secret providers and IAM policies are not automatically provisioned by this PR; operators still need to configure provider-side access for non-local vaults. - The PR is broad across db/shared/server/UI/runtime paths, so release validation should include both API and UI secret workflows before merge. - The migration renumbering is intentionally incremental after upstream migrations; the branch migrations use guarded column/table/index/constraint creation so users who tested the older draft numbering should not hit duplicate DDL for the existing objects. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. External object references across issue surfaces (#8512)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is the open source control plane people use to coordinate AI agents, issues, approvals, comments, and work products. > - The involved subsystem is issue context: markdown links, issue properties, related work, lists, filters, inbox/sidebar status, and plugin-provided external context. > - The gap is that URLs to external systems currently remain mostly plain links, so humans and agents must manually open them to understand status, identity, and liveness. > - This matters because external work objects such as GitHub issues and pull requests are part of the operational state of a Paperclip company. > - The implementation keeps core provider-neutral: shared contracts, storage, sync, routes, and UI surfaces live in core while providers can contribute detection and status resolution. > - This pull request adds the external object reference foundation, GitHub provider support, issue-surface rendering, filters, sidebar/list/inbox signals, and test/story coverage. > - The benefit is that linked external work becomes inspectable Paperclip context without hardcoding every provider directly into the UI. ## Linked Issues or Issue Description No public GitHub issue exists for this work. Feature request: - Problem: URLs in Paperclip issues, comments, documents, and related surfaces do not expose provider status or object identity inline. - Proposed behavior: detect supported external object URLs, persist normalized references, refresh provider status, and render concise status-aware links across issue surfaces. - Users affected: board users, agents, and maintainers who triage issues containing external work links. - Acceptance: external object references are company-scoped, provider-extensible, visible in key issue surfaces, filterable where relevant, and covered by focused shared/server/UI tests. Related PR search: - No open duplicate PRs found for `external object references`. - Closed related prior attempt: #4556. ## What Changed - Added shared external-object contracts, validators, status/liveness helpers, and plugin protocol declarations. - Added database schema and additive migrations for external objects, source mentions, and display metadata. - Added server services/routes for detecting, syncing, summarizing, refreshing, and resolving external objects across issues, documents, comments, projects, and plugins. - Added a GitHub external-object provider plus plugin SDK authoring docs. - Wired UI presentation across markdown links, comments, issue chat, documents, properties, related work, issue rows, filters, inbox/sidebar badges, and Storybook stories. - Rebasing cleanup: moved the branch onto current `master`, repaired stale worktree provision config, hardened environment-sensitive tests/mocks, and removed committed screenshot artifacts from the PR branch to keep the reviewable file set below tool limits. ## Verification - `pnpm exec vitest run packages/shared/src/external-objects.test.ts server/src/__tests__/external-object-routes.test.ts server/src/__tests__/external-objects-service.test.ts ui/src/components/ExternalObjectPill.test.tsx ui/src/lib/external-objects.test.ts` passed after rebasing: 5 files, 56 tests. - Historical branch verification before this PR creation included `pnpm test:run`, `pnpm -r typecheck`, and `pnpm build`; this PR body does not claim those were rerun after the final rebase. ## Risks - Medium: this adds a new cross-surface sync path on issue/document/comment writes. The implementation uses safe sync wrappers so external-object failures warn instead of blocking core mutations. - Medium: the migrations introduce new tables and indexes. They are additive and company-scoped. - Medium: provider-specific URL parsing can miss or misclassify edge cases. Shared canonicalization tests and provider tests cover current GitHub shapes. - Low: UI badge/filter behavior could add visual noise for object-heavy issues; component tests and Storybook stories cover the intended surfaces. > Roadmap checked: `ROADMAP.md` references the plugin system as the current extension path and does not list a duplicate core feature. Related long-range docs discuss external references, work products, preview URLs, and plugin extension points; this PR implements the scoped external-object reference foundation. ## Model Used OpenAI Codex, GPT-5 coding-agent runtime, with shell and GitHub CLI tool use. Reasoning mode: medium. Exact deployed runtime model ID and context window were not exposed in the environment.

[codex] Add issue document locking (#6009)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip orchestrates AI-agent companies through company-scoped issues, comments, and issue documents. > - Issue documents are the durable place where plans, handoffs, and other work artifacts are revised over time. > - Some documents need to be preserved as operator-approved snapshots while agents continue working on the same issue. > - Without document locking, a later board or agent write can overwrite the document key that reviewers expected to remain stable. > - This pull request adds board-managed issue document locks and makes agent writes to locked keys create a derived document instead of mutating the locked document. > - The benefit is safer document handoffs: approved or frozen issue documents stay immutable until the board explicitly unlocks them. ## What Changed - Added `locked_at`, `locked_by_agent_id`, and `locked_by_user_id` document fields plus migration `0085_tranquil_the_executioner.sql`. - Added document lock/unlock service behavior, route endpoints, activity events, and locked-document write protections. - Made agent document writes to locked keys create a new derived key such as `plan-2` rather than overwriting the locked document. - Surfaced lock state through shared issue document types, UI API methods, document header lock controls, and activity formatting. - Added server and UI tests for lock/unlock behavior, locked document immutability, and UI action visibility. - Updated `doc/SPEC-implementation.md` with the V1 document lock contract and endpoints. ## Verification - `git rebase public-gh/master` completed cleanly after committing the branch changes. - `git diff --check` passed before commit. - `pnpm run preflight:workspace-links && pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/documents-service.test.ts server/src/__tests__/issue-agent-mutation-ownership-routes.test.ts ui/src/components/IssueDocumentsSection.test.tsx ui/src/components/IssueContinuationHandoff.test.tsx ui/src/lib/document-revisions.test.ts` passed: 5 files, 32 tests. ## Risks - Medium risk because this changes the document persistence contract and adds a migration. - The migration uses `ADD COLUMN IF NOT EXISTS` and guarded foreign-key creation so it remains safe for users who may have already applied an earlier copy of the migration. - Locked documents intentionally reject board edits/deletes/restores until unlocked; any existing workflows that expected direct overwrite need to unlock first. - Agent writes to locked keys now create derived documents, which may create extra issue documents when agents retry locked writes. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex coding agent based on GPT-5, with tool use and local code execution in the Paperclip worktree. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [ ] If this change affects the UI, I have included before/after screenshots - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

Add planning mode for issue work (#5353)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip is a control plane for autonomous AI companies. > - Issues are the core unit of work, and issue comments are how board users and agents coordinate execution. > - Some issue conversations need to produce plans and approvals instead of immediate implementation work. > - The existing issue contract did not distinguish standard execution comments from planning-oriented issue work. > - This pull request adds an issue work-mode contract and board UI affordances for standard vs planning mode. > - The benefit is that planning-mode issues can be created, displayed, discussed, and carried through agent heartbeat context without losing the normal issue workflow. ## What Changed - Added `standard` / `planning` issue work-mode contracts across DB, shared validators/types, server issue flows, plugin protocol, and adapter heartbeat payloads. - Added an idempotent `0081_optimal_dormammu` migration for `issues.work_mode`, ordered after current `public-gh/master` migrations. - Updated heartbeat/context summaries and issue-thread interaction behavior so planning work mode is preserved when creating suggested follow-up issues. - Added UI support for planning-mode issue creation, issue rows, detail composer styling, and composer work-mode toggles. - Added focused server/shared/UI tests plus a Playwright visual verification spec for planning-mode surfaces. - Rebased the branch onto current `public-gh/master` and added durable planning-mode screenshots under `doc/assets/pap-3368/`. ## Verification - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/db run check:migrations` - `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/shared packages/shared/src/validators/issue.test.ts` - `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/server server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-context-summary.test.ts server/src/__tests__/issue-thread-interactions-service.test.ts server/src/__tests__/issues-goal-context-routes.test.ts --pool=forks --poolOptions.forks.isolate=true` - `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/ui ui/src/components/IssueChatThread.test.tsx ui/src/components/NewIssueDialog.test.tsx ui/src/components/IssueRow.test.tsx ui/src/pages/IssueDetail.test.tsx` - `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/adapter-utils packages/adapter-utils/src/server-utils.test.ts` - `PAPERCLIP_E2E_SKIP_LLM=true npx playwright test --config tests/e2e/playwright.config.ts tests/e2e/planning-mode-visual-verification.spec.ts` ## Screenshots Desktop planning detail: Desktop planning row: Desktop staged standard toggle: Mobile planning detail: Mobile planning row: ## Risks - Medium migration risk: this adds a non-null issue column. The migration uses `ADD COLUMN IF NOT EXISTS` so installations that applied an older branch-local migration number can still apply the final numbered migration safely. - Medium contract risk: issue payloads, plugin payloads, and adapter heartbeat payloads now include work mode; compatibility is handled by defaulting missing values to `standard`. - UI risk is moderate because composer controls changed; focused component tests and visual e2e coverage exercise standard vs planning display and toggle behavior. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. [codex] Add run liveness continuations (#4083)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies. > - Heartbeat runs are the control-plane record of each agent execution window. > - Long-running local agents can exhaust context or stop while still holding useful next-step state. > - Operators need that stop reason, next action, and continuation path to be durable and visible. > - This pull request adds run liveness metadata, continuation summaries, and UI surfaces for issue run ledgers. > - The benefit is that interrupted or long-running work can resume with clearer context instead of losing the agent's last useful handoff. ## What Changed - Added heartbeat-run liveness fields, continuation attempt tracking, and an idempotent `0058` migration. - Added server services and tests for run liveness, continuation summaries, stop metadata, and activity backfill. - Wired local and HTTP adapters to surface continuation/liveness context through shared adapter utilities. - Added shared constants, validators, and heartbeat types for liveness continuation state. - Added issue-detail UI surfaces for continuation handoffs and the run ledger, with component tests. - Updated agent runtime docs, heartbeat protocol docs, prompt guidance, onboarding assets, and skills instructions to explain continuation behavior. - Addressed Greptile feedback by scoping document evidence by run, excluding system continuation-summary documents from liveness evidence, importing shared liveness types, surfacing hidden ledger run counts, documenting bounded retry behavior, and moving run-ledger liveness backfill off the request path. ## Verification - `pnpm exec vitest run packages/adapter-utils/src/server-utils.test.ts server/src/__tests__/run-continuations.test.ts server/src/__tests__/run-liveness.test.ts server/src/__tests__/activity-service.test.ts server/src/__tests__/documents-service.test.ts server/src/__tests__/issue-continuation-summary.test.ts server/src/services/heartbeat-stop-metadata.test.ts ui/src/components/IssueRunLedger.test.tsx ui/src/components/IssueContinuationHandoff.test.tsx ui/src/components/IssueDocumentsSection.test.tsx` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/db build` - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/activity-service.test.ts ui/src/components/IssueRunLedger.test.tsx` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` - `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/activity-service.test.ts server/src/__tests__/run-continuations.test.ts ui/src/components/IssueRunLedger.test.tsx` - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-process-recovery.test.ts -t "treats a plan document update"` - `pnpm exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/activity-service.test.ts server/src/__tests__/heartbeat-process-recovery.test.ts -t "activity service|treats a plan document update"` - Remote PR checks on head `e53b1a1d`: `verify`, `e2e`, `policy`, and Snyk all passed. - Confirmed `public-gh/master` is an ancestor of this branch after fetching `public-gh master`. - Confirmed `pnpm-lock.yaml` is not included in the branch diff. - Confirmed migration `0058_wealthy_starbolt.sql` is ordered after `0057` and uses `IF NOT EXISTS` guards for repeat application. - Greptile inline review threads are resolved. ## Risks - Medium risk: this touches heartbeat execution, liveness recovery, activity rendering, issue routes, shared contracts, docs, and UI. - Migration risk is mitigated by additive columns/indexes and idempotent guards. - Run-ledger liveness backfill is now asynchronous, so the first ledger response can briefly show historical missing liveness until the background backfill completes. - UI screenshot coverage is not included in this packaging pass; validation is currently through focused component tests. > For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Model Used - OpenAI Codex, GPT-5.4, local tool-use coding agent with terminal, git, GitHub connector, GitHub CLI, and Paperclip API access. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability details) - [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate planned core work - [x] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [x] If this change affects the UI, I have included before/after screenshots - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge Screenshot note: no before/after screenshots were captured in this PR packaging pass; the UI changes are covered by focused component tests listed above. --------- Co-authored-by: Paperclip <noreply@paperclip.ing> |

fix(ui): keep latest issue document revision current (#3342)
## Thinking Path > - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies. > - Board users and agents collaborate on issue-scoped documents such as plans and revisions need to be trustworthy because they are the audit trail for those artifacts. > - The issue document UI now supports revision history and restore, so the UI has to distinguish the current revision from historical revisions correctly even while multiple queries are refreshing. > - In `PAPA-72`, the newest content could appear under an older revision label because the current document snapshot and the revision-history query could temporarily disagree after an edit. > - That made the UI treat the newest revision like a historical restore target, which is the opposite of the intended behavior. > - This pull request derives one authoritative revision view from both sources, sorts revisions newest-first, and keeps the freshest revision marked current. > - The benefit is that revision history stays stable and trustworthy immediately after edits instead of briefly presenting the newest content as an older revision. ## What Changed - Added a `document-revisions` helper that merges the current document snapshot with fetched revision history into one normalized revision state. - Updated `IssueDocumentsSection` to render from that normalized state instead of trusting either query in isolation. - Added focused tests covering the current-revision selection and ordering behavior. ## Verification - `pnpm -r typecheck` - `pnpm build` - Targeted revision tests passed locally. - Manual reviewer check: - Open an issue document with revision history. - Edit and save the document. - Immediately open the revision selector. - Confirm the newest revision remains marked current and older revisions remain the restore targets. ## Risks - Low risk. The change is isolated to issue document revision presentation in the UI. - Main risk is merging the current snapshot with fetched history incorrectly for edge cases, which is why the helper has focused unit coverage. ## Checklist - [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context to this change - [ ] I have run tests locally and they pass - [x] I have added or updated tests where applicable - [ ] If this change affects the UI, I have included before/after screenshots - [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes - [x] I have considered and documented any risks above - [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before requesting merge |
