1ef3b08714 feat(ui): integrate agent personas across the app (#13171)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - A stable agent persona is useful only when the same identity appears
across the app.
> - Lists, task messages, selectors, and activity feeds need inexpensive
static avatars.
> - Onboarding and agent headers need a larger character with
expressions and pointer tracking.
> - This pull request connects the persona foundation to those existing
views and preserves onboarding draft assignments.
> - Full-page stories and Linux checks make the placements and
performance contract reviewable.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

**Problem or motivation**

Agents need a stable visual identity in lists, tasks, onboarding, and
configuration. External tools also need an image URL for that identity.

**Proposed solution**

Assign each agent a permanent palette from a fixed ClipLab character
library. Store the assignment on the agent. Render and cache preset PNG
URLs on demand. Use static images in dense views and one animated
character in larger placements.

**Alternatives considered**

A generated image bundle requires a separate asset build. A live
renderer in every avatar adds unnecessary work in large lists. Arbitrary
uploaded images do not provide the requested shared character system.

**Roadmap alignment**

This improves agent identity across existing control-plane views. It
preserves agent permissions, company boundaries, and status labels.
ROADMAP.md has no separate ClipLab persona milestone.

Related approaches: #2422 adds configurable image URLs and DiceBear
generation; #5578 adds optional uploaded avatars. This work uses a
fixed, versioned character library and preset URLs.

## What Changed

- Replace agent icons with static persona images across lists, the
sidebar, org charts, tasks, comments, selectors, activity, and dashboard
views.
- Put one animated character in the agent header. Let it follow the
pointer across the page, with reduced-motion and touch fallbacks.
- Add larger padded characters to agent creation. Keep the palette
stable across draft refreshes and connection retries, then reveal it
after success.
- Pass appearance through shared projections rather than fetching each
agent separately.
- Add real full-page Storybook examples for the agent list, overview,
task, dashboard, new-agent dialog, and connection page.
- Add Linux screenshot, clipping, density, and 500-avatar performance
checks.

## Verification

- `pnpm -r typecheck`, `pnpm build`, and token gates pass on the rebased
tree. Persona lifecycle tests pass.
- The rebased feature passes 38 Linux screenshot/performance checks,
including both display densities, corner pointer positions, and the
no-WebGL/no-live-download contract for 500 avatars.
- The final Linux persona suite passes all 38 visual, lifecycle,
density, and full-page checks using the standard Storybook configuration
and real on-demand avatar endpoint.
- Final local focused verification: 45 avatar/native-recovery tests
pass; UI identity/routine tests, typecheck/build, token gates, and
Storybook build pass.
- Current-head CI passes: full workspace/server tests, all serialized
server groups, typecheck/release checks, build, canary validation, and
end-to-end shards. The build passed after retrying a native-runner
concurrency-test failure; its three targeted cases also pass locally.
- Manual inspection covered stable identities in the app, header
placement, full-page mouse tracking, onboarding size, and task/dashboard
placements.

### Screenshots

Linux captures use synthetic Storybook fixtures. Full-page captures use
reduced motion. The live character, mouse tracking, and disposal are
checked separately.

## Risks

- This PR depends on #13170, the persona foundation. Merge the
foundation first, then retarget this PR to master.
- Many placements change from icons to character silhouettes. Human
avatars and authoritative agent status labels retain their existing
behavior.
- Only one character can render live per view. Reduced motion,
hidden/offscreen content, touch input, and renderer failures use the
defined fallbacks.
- The full-page stories use fixture data. They do not contact a real
company or complete real provider sign-in.

## Model Used

OpenAI Codex, GPT-6 family. The exact model identifier and context
window are not exposed in this session. Used code editing, shell
execution, browser inspection, and Linux visual testing.

DottaandPaperclip 1652a5c7f2 fix: improve task search relevance with a PostgreSQL rubric (#13335)
Unify full and quick task search around PostgreSQL term coverage, explicit relevance bands, and conservative typo recovery. Preserve matching evidence and navigation, and add a judged corpus, regression tests, and documented performance measurements.

Validation: local typecheck, build, focused PostgreSQL tests, and task-list tests pass. All final-head CI gates pass and Greptile is 5/5.

606aa4f266 feat(search): filters, sorting, operators & command-palette parity (#9327)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work
> - Company search is the primary way operators find issues, comments,
documents, artifacts, agents, and projects across a busy company
> - Search previously supported only a bare text query: no way to narrow
by status/assignee/project/label/date, no sort control, no typed
operators, and weak relevance/snippets meant hunting through noise
> - As companies accumulate tens of thousands of items, unfiltered
single-sort search stops scaling for day-to-day operator workflows
> - This pull request adds a full filtering model (filter bar, chips,
mobile sheet, URL state), sort modes, typed query operators (`status:`,
`assignee:`, `type:`, …) with command-palette parity,
relevance/snippet/deep-link improvements, zero-results recovery, and the
supporting shared validators, backend service work, and DB indexes
> - The benefit is that operators can go from a vague query to the exact
item in a couple of keystrokes, on desktop and mobile, with shareable
filtered-search URLs

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

No existing public GitHub issue; describing the underlying feature
request inline (per feature_request template):

- **Problem:** Company search accepted only a plain text query. Users
could not filter results by status, assignee, project, label, or
recency; could not change result ordering; and got no guidance when
filters emptied the result set.
- **Desired solution:** Structured search filters (UI controls + typed
query operators + URL parameters), selectable sort modes, better
relevance and snippets with exact deep links, and parity between the
search page and the command palette.
- **Alternatives considered:** Client-side filtering of unfiltered
results (does not scale past the fetch limit); a separate "advanced
search" page (splits the surface and duplicates state handling).

Related (not duplicate) PRs found while searching: #4848 (issue search
query planning), #8235 (search rate limiting).

## What Changed

- **Shared contract:** new search filter/sort/count/zero-results types
and validators in `packages/shared` (`validators/search.ts`, types
index).
- **Backend:** `server/src/services/company-search.ts` supports issue
filters, sort modes, per-filter option counts, snippets, artifact
visibility, and zero-results loosen suggestions; single-statement match
replaces per-scope scans and predicates are trigram-index compatible
(~3.7s → ~350ms on a live 14.8k-hit corpus).
- **DB:** migration `0142_company_search_sort_indexes.sql` adds the
supporting indexes.
- **Search page (`ui/src/pages/Search.tsx`):** filter bar, removable
chips, mobile filter sheet with result-count preview, sort menu, URL
round-tripping, zero-results recovery UI.
- **Query operators (`ui/src/lib/search-query-parser.ts`):** typed
operators parsed into filters, operator autocomplete, filter pills.
- **Command palette:** operator-aware parsing and full-search handoff.
- **Stale-operator fix (latest commit):** typed operator filters are no
longer folded into persistent URL-filter state, so deleting a token
(e.g. removing `status:blocked` from the input) actually removes the
filter from subsequent requests; filter-control edits materialize
control state and strip typed tokens so a removed chip cannot resurrect
from the input.

## Verification

- `cd ui && npx vitest run src/pages/Search.test.tsx` — 19 tests
including two new red→green regressions for the stale-operator paths
(both fail on the previous commit, pass now).
- `cd ui && npx vitest run src/components/CommandPalette.test.tsx` and
`cd server && npx vitest run
src/services/company-search-service.test.ts` — operator parity and
backend filter/sort/count coverage.
- `cd ui && npx tsc --noEmit` — clean.
- Manual: open `/search`, type `auth status:blocked`, confirm the status
filter applies; delete `status:blocked`, confirm results are unfiltered
again; drive the same filters from the filter bar/chips/mobile sheet and
confirm the URL round-trips (reload/back/forward preserves state).
- Full end-to-end QA pass (9/9 acceptance checks) against the wireframes
on desktop (1280px) and mobile (390px) with a live API and browser
automation.

## Risks

- Additive migration (indexes only, no data rewrites) — safe to roll
forward; index creation cost is paid once at migrate time.
- Search request shape gains optional parameters only; old clients keep
working.
- Behavioral shift: filter-control edits now strip typed operator tokens
from the query text (their values persist as filter state) — deliberate,
so removed filters stay removed.
- Ranking changes alter result ordering for existing queries; covered by
service tests and the QA pass.

discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap

## Model Used

- Claude Fable 5 (`claude-fable-5`, Anthropic, extended thinking + tool
use) — stale-operator-filter fix, regression tests, PR preparation.
- GPT-5 Codex (`codex_local` adapter) and Claude Opus 4.6
(`claude-opus-4-6`) — earlier implementation phases (backend contract,
filter UI, operators, ranking) under agent orchestration.

c07e650cd7 feat(ui): single-source design tokens, visual regression suite, and theme retune (#9134)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work
> - Its UI is the operator's daily surface: task lists, boards, budgets,
agent status — all built on shadcn components and Tailwind
> - Visual values (colors, spacing, type sizes, radii) were hardcoded at
~1,600 call sites: the same "small gray label" was 9/10/11px depending
on the file, charts disagreed with chips about status colors, two
toggle-switch implementations coexisted in two greens, and there was no
visual regression coverage
> - This made the UI drift-prone and made any restyle a
hundreds-of-files project, which discourages design iteration
> - This pull request extracts visual values into a single token layer
in `ui/src/index.css`, adds a Storybook visual regression suite backed
by external immutable baseline archives, and then applies a deliberate
retune reviewed change-by-change on screenshot diffs
> - The benefit is that Paperclip's look becomes a config surface:
retheming is a token edit reviewed as a snapshot diff, drift is blocked
by a token gate, and future UI PRs can prove exactly what changed
visually without committing hundreds of PNGs

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

No existing public issue covers this work (searched "design tokens",
"visual regression", "design system" across issues and PRs). Related in
spirit: Refs #8982 (theming a hardcoded panel — a one-off instance of
the same problem class this PR addresses systematically).

**Problem (feature-request form):** UI visual values are hardcoded per
call site with no source of truth and no regression coverage;
consistency depends on reviewer memory, and restyling requires mass file
edits.
**Proposed solution (this PR):** a single token layer + enforcement gate
+ externally stored visual snapshot suite, then an intentional restyle
on top of that foundation.

## What Changed

- **Token extraction (zero visual change, machine-verified during
development):** committed codemods (`scripts/codemod-*.mjs`) moved
~1,600 hardcoded color/type/spacing/radius/shadow/misc values into named
tokens in a non-inline `:root` block of `ui/src/index.css`.
- **Visual regression suite:** `pnpm test:storybook-visual` covers 255
stories × light/dark = 510 Playwright screenshots at `maxDiffPixels: 0`,
plus new primitive-coverage stories and deterministic-render fixes.
- **External visual baselines:** committed PNG snapshots were removed.
`tests/storybook-visual/baseline-manifest.json` pins an immutable
archive URL/hash/size/count, and `scripts/storybook-visual-baseline.mjs`
handles `download`, `verify`, `pack`, and trusted maintainer `upload`
flows.
- **Opt-in visual CI artifacts:** added a `Storybook Visual` workflow
that runs on manual dispatch or PRs labeled `storybook-visual`,
downloads/verifies the baseline, runs Playwright, and uploads Playwright
report/test-result artifacts for review. Normal PR runs do not mutate
baseline objects.
- **Token gate:** `pnpm check:token-gates` — zero hex literals, zero
arbitrary bracket values, zero raw font-sizes in `ui/src/components/**`
and `ui/src/pages/**`, with a documented inline allowlist for legitimate
opt-outs.
- **Theme retune (intentional, snapshot-reviewed):** new base theme
values; radius ladder derived from a single `--radius` knob; micro-type
cluster collapsed to a named ladder (`--text-nano/micro/compact` +
Tailwind `text-xs`/`text-sm`); letter-spacing collapsed to named steps.
- **One status-color vocabulary:** charts, quota/budget bar fills,
RUNNING/live chips, and liveness indicators all use the canonical
`--status-*` hues. Light-mode legibility fixes for red alert surfaces
that used dark-tuned text classes.
- **One switch:** `ToggleSwitch` restyled to the registry capsule form,
second hand-rolled implementation removed, and all call sites unified.
- **Docs:** `DESIGN.md` is the design contract; `doc/design/` holds
audit reports, decision logs, and updated guidance for external baseline
review/update workflows.
- Dead code removed (`agentStatusBadge` duplicate map), byte-identical
contrast constants consolidated, semantic renames
(`--project-seed`/`--project-none`, `--liveness-blue`).

## Verification

- `pnpm check:token-gates` — 3/3 gates CLEAN during the design-system
run
- `pnpm typecheck` && `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` — green
during the design-system run
- `node --test scripts/__tests__/storybook-visual-baseline.test.mjs` —
pass after external-baseline rework
- `pnpm exec tsc --noEmit --pretty false --module NodeNext
--moduleResolution NodeNext --target ES2022 --types
node,@playwright/test tests/storybook-visual/playwright.config.ts
tests/storybook-visual/storybook-visual.spec.ts` — pass after
external-baseline rework
- `git diff --check origin/pr/9134..HEAD` — pass after external-baseline
rework
- `find tests/storybook-visual -type f -name '*.png' -print | wc -l` —
`0`
- `node scripts/storybook-visual-baseline.mjs verify` — intentionally
fails closed until the first trusted maintainer publishes the baseline
archive and updates `baseline-manifest.json`

## Risks

- **Large but shallow:** the PR still touches many UI files due to
mechanical token extraction and retune work, but committed PNG snapshot
churn has been removed from the branch.
- **Baseline publication required before the visual suite can pass in
clean clones:** the manifest currently has placeholder archive metadata.
A trusted maintainer must publish the first immutable archive, then
update `baseline-manifest.json`.
- **Rendering platform variance:** the external baseline should be
captured in the documented Linux/Chromium environment. Future CI runs
verify against the pinned archive and fail closed on checksum/count
mismatch.
- **Visual CI is opt-in while stabilizing:** add the `storybook-visual`
label or dispatch the workflow manually to produce downloadable
Playwright report/test-result artifacts.
- **Scheduled follow-ups, deliberately out of scope:** Tailwind palette
classes map to semantic tokens in a dedicated pass; card/pill component
consolidation; ESLint ratchet. Tracked in
`doc/design/DECISION-SHEET.md`.

## Model Used

Claude Fable 5 (Anthropic, `claude-fable-5`, Mythos-class tier) with
extended thinking, running in Claude Code with tool use; mechanical
phases delegated to Claude Sonnet subagents. Follow-up external-baseline
rework assisted by OpenAI Codex (`gpt-5` coding agent with repository,
terminal, and GitHub tool use). All bulk rewrites executed via
deterministic, idempotent scripts committed in `scripts/`; intentional
visual changes were human-reviewed on screenshot contact sheets.

2e74d32871 PAP-10430: split Issue-to-Task copy migration (#7651)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - The board UI is the operator surface where users create, assign,
monitor, and review work items.
> - The product language is moving toward "tasks" for user-facing work
items while the internal API and database still use "issues".
> - PR #7543 bundled this copy migration with broader
information-architecture work, which made the branch too large for
Greptile review.
> - This pull request peels the Issue-to-Task copy migration into a
smaller, independently reviewable change.
> - The benefit is clearer user-facing terminology, less agent confusion
via the Paperclip skill note, and a smaller PR that Greptile can review.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

Refs #7645
Refs #7543
Refs PAP-10430

This PR was split out of #7543 so the Issue-to-Task copy migration can
be reviewed separately and the remaining IA PR can fall under Greptile's
file limit.

## What Changed

- Preserves Scott Tong's original `PAP-57` copy-only commit, with author
and co-author credit intact, to rename user-facing "Issues" copy to
"Tasks" across the UI while keeping routes/API/internal symbols as
`issue`.
- Updates onboarding and release-smoke browser selectors from `Create &
Open Issue` to `Create & Open Task`.
- Adds a terminology note to `skills/paperclip/SKILL.md` clarifying that
task and issue refer to the same Paperclip work item.
- Resolves the only cherry-pick conflict by keeping current search
artifacts support and changing visible search copy to "tasks".

## Verification

- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` passed.
- `NODE_ENV=test pnpm exec vitest run
ui/src/components/IssuesList.test.tsx ui/src/components/Sidebar.test.tsx
ui/src/components/NewIssueDialog.test.tsx
ui/src/pages/IssueDetail.test.tsx` passed: 4 files, 66 tests.
- `git diff --check origin/master...HEAD` passed.
- Diff is 80 files, below Greptile's 100-file limit.
- Before/after UI copy examples: "Issues" -> "Tasks", "New Issue" ->
"New Task", "Create & Open Issue" -> "Create & Open Task".

## Risks

- Medium copy-risk: this intentionally changes user-facing terminology
broadly while keeping internal issue identifiers and routes unchanged.
- Some docs and APIs still say `issue`; the skill note clarifies this so
agents do not treat task and issue as separate entities.
- Browser-level visual validation is expected from CI because this local
container is missing usable browser dependencies.

## Model Used

Claude Opus 4.8 and Paperclip agents per the preserved commit metadata.
Codex / GPT-5-class coding agent with shell, GitHub CLI, and repository

eaef47f4c7 Information Architecture + project/agent visual refresh (experimental) (#7543)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - The board UI is the control surface for issues, projects, agents,
goals, workspaces, and operator settings.
> - The existing navigation and list surfaces make several
high-frequency workflows feel harder to scan than they should,
especially around projects and agents.
> - The product direction is to improve those surfaces without breaking
the existing route model or forcing a new IA on every operator at once.
> - This pull request now keeps the dependent IA, project identity, and
agent-list visual refresh work together while the Issue-to-Task copy
migration is split into #7651.
> - The benefit is a clearer left nav, better project identity, denser
agent/project list rows, and brand-aligned status treatment while
preserving the classic default experience behind a flag.

server/shared/UI coverage.
- Refreshes agent list rows, row actions, active/recent sidebar
behavior, and status capsule/chip styling for the approved brand state
system.
- Removes the placeholder Conference room and Artifacts nav/routes from
the finalized experimental nav direction.
- Removes `pnpm-lock.yaml` and the Issue-to-Task copy migration from
this PR diff; the copy migration now lives in #7651.

## Verification

- Existing branch verification from the authored commits: UI typecheck,
targeted unit tests, and light/dark visual checks for `/agents`, agent
detail, and design-guide status states.
- Maintainer cleanup verification on `75e34e5`: `git diff --check
origin/master...HEAD` passed, the `design/` diff is empty, and the PR
diff is 61 files, below Greptile's 100-file review limit.
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui build` passed.
- `NODE_ENV=test pnpm exec vitest run
ui/src/components/Sidebar.test.tsx` passed: 1 file, 8 tests.
- CI and Greptile should rerun on the latest push.

## Risks

- Broad UI surface area: the experimental flag keeps the classic nav
default, but changed shared components such as `EntityRow`,
`ProjectTile`, and agent status badges could affect multiple pages.
- Database migration: `projects.icon` is additive and nullable, but
migration ordering and portability import/export must stay aligned.
- The Issue-to-Task copy migration is now separated into #7651, so
reviewers should evaluate this PR as IA/project/agent presentation work
only.
- Visual regressions are possible across smaller widths because the PR
intentionally changes dense list-row layouts.

## Model Used

Claude Opus 4.8 assisted the original feature commits.
Paperclip-Paperclip agents assisted some planning/design commits. Codex
/ GPT-5-class coding agent with shell, GitHub CLI, and repository access
performed this PR-readiness cleanup and split.

DottaandPaperclip 4693d770aa Add company artifacts page (#7621)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - Operators need a way to inspect files and work products created by
agents across a company without opening each issue one by one.
> - The existing issue detail surfaces already show attachments and
outputs, but there was no company-level artifacts index or search-result
affordance for artifact-like records.
> - The backend needed a company-scoped artifacts projection API that
preserves issue/run attribution and safe links back to source records.
> - The UI needed a first-class Artifacts page, sidebar entry, reusable
artifact cards, and deep-link handling that keeps company prefixes
intact.
> - This pull request adds the company artifacts API and page, then
wires artifacts into search and issue output surfaces.
> - The benefit is a single place to browse, filter, and open generated
work products and attachments while preserving company boundaries.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

Fixes #7622.

Feature request fields:

- Problem/motivation: company operators need a consolidated artifacts
surface for attachments and work products produced by agents.
- Proposed solution: add a company-scoped artifacts projection endpoint,
a board Artifacts route, reusable cards, sidebar navigation, and
artifact search integration.
- Alternatives considered: keep artifact discovery only on individual
issue pages; that forces operators to know the source issue before
finding generated outputs.
- Roadmap alignment: checked `ROADMAP.md`; this is a focused board
UI/API improvement and does not duplicate a listed roadmap item.

## What Changed

- Added shared artifact types and validators.
- Added a company-scoped artifact projection service/API with tests for
attachment/work-product attribution.
- Added Artifacts board UI route, API client, sidebar link, cards,
filters, and storybook coverage.
- Added artifact result handling to company search and issue
output/deep-link flows.
- Rebased the branch onto the latest `public-gh/master` state and
resolved the route-test conflict by preserving both upstream
team-catalog coverage and artifact route coverage.
- Fixed a local Sidebar test helper so it no longer depends on a
runtime-undefined `React.act` export in this dependency install.

## Verification

- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui exec vitest run
src/components/artifacts/ArtifactCard.test.tsx src/api/artifacts.test.ts
src/lib/company-routes.test.ts`
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui exec vitest run
src/pages/Artifacts.test.tsx src/pages/Search.test.tsx
src/components/Sidebar.test.tsx`
- `pnpm exec vitest run
server/src/__tests__/company-artifacts-service.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/company-search-service.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/company-search-rate-limit-routes.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/issue-agent-mutation-ownership-routes.test.ts`
- Confirmed the PR diff does not include `pnpm-lock.yaml` or
`.github/workflows/*`.
- Duplicate search: no open PRs or issues found for `artifact page
ArtifactCard` in `paperclipai/paperclip`.

Screenshots are intentionally omitted per the internal task instruction
not to add design screenshots or images to this PR unless they are
specifically part of the work. I also attempted browser capture in this
runner, but `agent-browser` failed to launch Chrome and Playwright
Chromium is missing `libatk-1.0.so.0`.

## Risks

- Low-to-medium risk: this adds a new API projection and UI surface, so
attribution/link regressions could affect artifact navigation.
- Company scoping is covered in the new service/API tests.
- No database migrations are included.
- No lockfile or workflow changes are included.

> For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and
discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap
with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap
first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`.

## Model Used

OpenAI Codex, GPT-5 coding agent with tool use and local command
execution. Exact hosted model identifier is not exposed in this runtime.

320fd5d23b Add full company search page (#5293)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies.
> - Operators need to find work, documents, agents, projects, comments,
and activity across a company without jumping through separate surfaces.
> - The existing Command-K flow was useful for fast navigation but not
enough for deeper company-wide discovery.
> - Search also needs company-scoped backend contracts, query cost
controls, and indexed document matching so it stays safe as company data
grows.
> - This pull request adds a full company search API and a dedicated
board search page that Command-K can hand off to.
> - The benefit is a single searchable control-plane surface with richer
result context, recents, highlights, and test coverage across server and
UI behavior.

## What Changed

- Added a company-scoped search endpoint/service with query validation,
rate limiting, text matching, fuzzy title matching, and result typing
shared through `@paperclipai/shared`.
- Added idempotent search migrations for document search indexes and
fuzzy matching support.
- Added the full `/companies/:companyKey/search` UI, search result row
components, highlighted snippets, recent searches, and sidebar/Command-K
handoff.
- Added Storybook coverage for search surfaces and Vitest coverage for
server search behavior, rate limiting, route generation, Command-K
behavior, and the search page.
- Addressed Greptile findings by renaming the no-match SQL helper,
applying search pagination after cross-type merge sorting, and
lazy-initializing the default search service so unrelated route-test
mocks do not need to know about it.
- Merged current `public-gh/master` and renumbered the search migrations
behind upstream `0078_white_darwin`: search indexes are now
`0079_company_search_document_indexes` and fuzzy matching is
`0080_company_search_fuzzystrmatch`.

## Verification

- `git fetch public-gh master`
- `git diff --check public-gh/master...HEAD`
- `git diff --name-only public-gh/master...HEAD | rg '^pnpm-lock\.yaml$'
|| true` produced no output before opening the PR.
- `pnpm run preflight:workspace-links && pnpm exec vitest run
server/src/__tests__/company-search-service.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/company-search-rate-limit-routes.test.ts
ui/src/pages/Search.test.tsx ui/src/components/CommandPalette.test.tsx
ui/src/lib/company-routes.test.ts` passed: 5 files, 25 tests.
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/shared typecheck && pnpm --filter
@paperclipai/db typecheck && pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck
&& pnpm --filter @paperclipai/ui typecheck` passed.
- `pnpm exec vitest run
server/src/__tests__/company-search-service.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/company-search-rate-limit-routes.test.ts && pnpm
--filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` passed after Greptile pagination
fixes.
- `pnpm exec vitest run
server/src/__tests__/issue-agent-mutation-ownership-routes.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/company-search-rate-limit-routes.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/company-search-service.test.ts && pnpm --filter
@paperclipai/server typecheck` passed after the CI mock fix.
- After resolving the migration conflict with current
`public-gh/master`: `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/db typecheck && pnpm
exec vitest run server/src/__tests__/company-search-service.test.ts
server/src/__tests__/company-search-rate-limit-routes.test.ts && pnpm
--filter @paperclipai/server typecheck` passed.
- DB migration numbering check passed as part of `@paperclipai/db`
typecheck.
- UI states are covered by the added Storybook stories in
`ui/storybook/stories/search.stories.tsx`.
- GitHub reports the PR merge state as `CLEAN` on head `18e54fa8`.
- GitHub PR checks are green on head `18e54fa8`: policy, verify,
serialized server shards 1/4 through 4/4, e2e, canary dry run, Snyk, and
Greptile Review.

## Risks

- Search ranking and snippets are new user-facing behavior, so reviewers
should check whether result ordering feels right on real company data.
- Search touches broad company data, so company scoping and query
cost/rate-limit behavior should be reviewed carefully.
- The migrations add search indexes/extensions; they are idempotent with
`IF NOT EXISTS` for users who may have applied an earlier branch
migration number.

> ROADMAP.md checked. This PR adds a focused board search surface and
does not duplicate an open roadmap item.

## Model Used

- OpenAI Codex, GPT-5 coding agent, tool-enabled shell/git/GitHub CLI
session with medium reasoning effort. Existing branch commits were
produced across prior agent sessions; this packaging pass verified,
opened the PR, addressed Greptile findings, resolved migration conflicts
after upstream PRs landed, and got PR checks green.
